The room on the 2nd floor was great, across from the massage room. Had a great massage. Breakfast was okay, nothing special. Actually on the healthy side with absolutely no sweets other than fruit on a Friday morning. I wish it was earlier, only served from 8:30-9:30 a.m. A few blocks from the main shopping street, Morris, in La Conner. Tip, go to Coa for the best ever Mexican food (and I am picky about Mexican food) close to the Inn.

Enjoyed staying overnight and spa appointment the next morning before a lovely hreakfast which was ordered to go due to catching a ferry to Friday Harbor from nearby Anacortes. Not the experience we hoped for

We stayed one night at the Heron Inn and, unfortunately, will not be returning. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt cold and unwelcoming. The front desk person barely acknowledged us — simply pointed to our keys on the counter and said our room was up two flights. No greeting, no warmth, no effort to make guests feel welcome.

We booked the so-called “Romantic Suite,” but it was anything but romantic. My partner kept hitting his head on the low, uneven ceiling, the jetted tub was underwhelming, and the bathroom had a musty odor. For the price, we were not impressed.

Breakfast — one of the reasons we chose a bed and breakfast — was only served from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., which felt unreasonably short. It was the end of our trip, and we wanted to sleep in a bit, so we missed it entirely.

The worst part of our stay came the next morning, when my partner took our dog for a walk and was confronted by the owner. He was required to pay an unexpected $50 pet fee on the spot and had to provide his credit card information — even though I had made the reservation and should have been contacted directly. The owner then lectured him about booking through Expedia instead of directly with the inn, which was uncalled for and highly unprofessional.

We only stayed here because I had an Expedia credit that reduced the cost — otherwise, it’s overpriced for what it offers. We will not stay there again.

The breakfast was not memorable as I think a B&B breakfast should be. Just very plain fare of scrambled eggs, sausage and potatoes. And it had apparently been prepared ahead of time, as we came in toward the end of the breakfast period. Other patrons complained that the coffee that was in the self-serve pot was cold.

An older quaint and elegant small hotel with lovely clean rooms. Spa experience was fantastic and the staff was very welcoming and professional! The hotel is walking distance to town and dining. Breakfast was standard but good with exceptional service. Part of the charm is the fact the rooms are old… but they are very clean and comfortable. The parking is tight, especially with larger vehicles. We will plan to go there again!

The manager is a total deutcshnag. Incredibly narcissistic a terrible person.
My booking was made several hours prior to my arrival at the property after five pm. I found no one on the property, called the posted number half a dozen times no answer. Was about to leave and find replacement lodging when another guest came in who contacted the manager and was able to get a key to a room. The room was on the third floor no elevator, hot day one tiny and extremely loud air conditioner in the room. TV didn’t work, all night, oh brother!
Next morning manager told me why he didn’t answer my call, but not why he didn’t have my reservation in place on the front desk like two other guests keys and paperwork were in plain view. He began telling me he was the victim and I should leave the property. The guy is insane, demon possessed, delusional and of course sociopathic narcissist.
In the last year I’ve stayed in over one hundred hotels traveling the USA and spent over $30k; this was by far the worst experience I’ve ever had.
I believe this manager is a part owner of the property, but have no doubt he is pure evil.

Lovely spot but the sticker price for a pet was pretty high. After booking on Expedia with a no refund option received a notice it would be 5o for cleaning and 25 for pet . He charged me only 5O. Which converted to 78 Canadian. Highest pet charge I’ve seen . Most places in my trip were 20-30

The Heron is a very well maintained vintage building with the creature comforts and customer service to entice me to want to return for a longer visit. There’s ample parking and we were able to plug in our electric car. The lobby area features an appealing lounge with massive fireplace and seating as well as the breakfast dining area. Breakfast was of a good standard with fruit and eggs made to order . The rooms have a mixture of vintage charm and expansive windows along with a nice bathroom with tub and shower . The bedding was sumptuous and the room very clean and thoughtfully appointed . This review would be I complete if I didn’t mention the staff who were very warm and friendly and helpful , just what a traveller needs. The Heron will undoubtedly be the place I want to stay, the next time I visit the charming town of La Connor with its boutiques and galleries.

A wonderful weekend getaway in a cozy inn!

From the moment we walked in the front door, our experience here was wonderful. Alvin met us to make sure we had the keys to our room, as well as go over everything that we needed to know about our stay. He even helped us with our dog who was a little shy having walking up the stairs to the 3rd floor--bacon is always a motivating factor! The room was nice and cozy and faced the back of the property which lead to a beautiful sunrise against the Cascade Mountains the next morning. The breakfast was wonderful and made to order for us. Overall, our stay and experience at The Heron Inn was excellent!

This quiet Inn provided a relaxing and restful weekend, even during Fourth of July festivities. The accommodating staff went out of their way to provide an enjoyable stay. As an example, our dog was not well during our trip and the chef prepared some shredded chicken to help settle his stomach. My wife's spa treatment was delightful! Highly recommend!

The rooms were nice, the grounds were nicely landscaped and well maintained. The staff were particularly nice and genuinely concerned with the enjoyment of our stay. We had massages while there and we both thought they were the best we'd ever had. Highly recommend others to visit. LaConner is always a relaxing stay....

The Heron Inn shines in the stars of LaConner! Staff are very friendly and funny, the breakfast is magnificant (hand-cut fresh fruit bowls, roasted veggies, yogurt, gluten free pancakes or waffles, toasty potatoes), the building is cute, quiet, and clean, and our stay was delightful. It needs a bit of maintenance (scratched paint and a few broken bathroom tiles - but that's just a quibble and understandable because of the Covidj-19 problems). In all, I could not recommend The Heron Inn enough.

The Heron Inn

We had a great stay. The Inn is lovely old home with quaint furnishings and very friendly owner and staff. Our room was large, with nice furnishings and a comfortable king size bed. Everything was within easy walking distance and very safe. Breakfast was delicious. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends.

Great as always

Alvin is a great host and aims to try and help. The biggest thing you need to know with the Heron is that there is no elevator so if you are on the third floor, you are going up stairs. The Helpers are very helpful. Food was good. Our second visit to the Heron. It was a great stay.

My room was large and lovely. The inn keeper offered me an upgrade for a small fee. It was such a pretty room with fire place. Lots of windows and dogs and two big chairs. The m floor was heated! Breakast was nice and filling. He breakfast room nicely decorated. The main address bad e furniture and a fireplace. I had a delightful stay

Building was old and creaky, we heard everything from the room above us. Everything. Looks like drywall was patched and never cleaned up in our room and bathroom, and the bed was very hard. Not a relaxing place if you are a light sleeper. Breakfast was ok. We left a night early because we could not sleep here.

Ideal B&B in a lovely spot

The Heron Inn is a classic Bed and Breakfast - warm, welcoming and quirky in a good way. Alvin the Innkeeper happily gives you run of the house and you will feel like you are at home (or maybe better) come breakfast time!
The Inn is close to the center of town, easy to access, and just downright enjoyable. Highly recommended

Delightful

The entire experience was delightful. The people are so welcoming, the setting for breakfast is restaurant style without that typical antiseptic atmosphere; the food is healthy and delicious. The best part was the living room with a warm fireplace, couches and chairs--a wonderful place to relax and have a cup of tea or coffee, any time of the day.

It seemed the room was a bit warm during the night--even when we had the temperature turned down to 60 on the wall thermostat. We never asked about solving that -- just having too much fun to remember. But would be nice to know. The warmed bathroom floor was a wonderful touch. (We were on the ground floor--not sure if all rooms have that.)

Beautiful place, quiet, very clean, welcoming. The beds are full of cozy blankets and big fluffy pillows. (But if you like a low loft pillow you might want to bring your own.) When we arrived the staff asked whether we had any dietary restrictions - I have many. I assured them I would be fine but the next morning at breakfast they had gone above and beyond to make sure that I had plenty of choices - all were delicious! For a quiet retreat, Heron Inn is great!
