Bait and switch - we booked a 300sq.ft. motel room with two queen beds, a separate bedroom, sofa and kitchenette.
We were actually given a <100sq.ft. single queen with a small fridge in a different building a few blocks away in a shared house/hostel setting.
We were expecting a sofa but the only seating was two wooden dining chairs.
The tiny bathroom has a small sink with no counter space.
There were no hangers/closet or anywhere to put clothes and no surface to put anything apart from a tiny half moon table and one bedside unit.
Noise from other guests was horrible, with laminate flooring throughout, you can hear every footstep and movement from other rooms, upstairs and the shared living area.
There is a shared kitchen that was dirty with half eaten and open food on the counters and a shared fridge with other guests food items.
The reviews for the ‘other’ property, (called BK Guesthouse), are poor and we would never have booked had we seen those reviews.

I stayed here with my 3 kids on the way to Olympic National Park. Rooms were very clean and spacious. Beds were super comfy. And the woman (who owns the place, I believe) was at the front desk, and extremely helpful and super nice and accommodating. Id stay here again 100%

Very pleasant owner, she checked me in, and conveniently helped me extend my stay so I didn't have to move to another hotel. They're slowly making improvements on the place and I appreciate that because what's not awesome now, is definitely going to be improved on later.

I knocked off a star because of a few ants in the bathroom and also because there was no AC, only fans and 2 built-in heaters. The fans they had were sufficient though, because the room stays pretty cool, unless you have all the shades open and the sun bakes the room.

Still, I really loved the fact that my daughter and I had separate spaces to be in with the kitchenette and the bathroom separating us, and our own TVs. The fridge is also a full fridge, with an actual freezer of its own. Very useful for when one is on the road a lot.

For the most part, the room was quite quiet, save for the fact that, since we were on the first floor, my bed was right up against the wall to the back parking lot. So, when people arrived late at night, the door slamming was quite alarming. But I rarely heard any heavy foot traffic from upstairs, which is the usual bane of my staycation experiences.

All in all, I would happily stay here again. It's a block away from Commercial Ave and all my fave food places. And the lady boss checks in on us from time to time when she sees us.

It's a small, very well run motel. The staff is very accommodating and the motel is perfectly located within walking distance of virtually anything you want from dinner to groceries. As a plus each room has a front and back bed room with a kitchenette in between. We are cyclists and stay there often when heading for a san juan island your. We've never been disappointed.

I enjoyed my stay. I was give him a room upgrade upon arrival to accommodate a disability. The owners were super responsive to all my requests for information. My accommodations were super clean and I had full access to a kitchen. In summary, this was an outstanding stay and I plan stay there on my next visit.

Very quiet location. Residents are mostly shift workers for refinery so not a rowdy atmosphere. Very clean and well serviced apartments. Other reviewers have mentioned the absence of cooking utensils and plates bowls cups etc. if you can’t bring your own there are several thrift stores close by to purchase cook and eating products. The coffee maker doesn’t come with filter papers but 2 complimentary filtered sachets are provided.

Pros: The parking was fine. The room was clean. The staff were friendly.

Cons: The room had a kitchen, but no cooking supplies at all, which doesn't make any sense? Why have a kitchen if you don't privide any basic supplies? People don't usually pack cookware, utensils, plates, etc. when traveling. No tissues, no ice, no closets or any hooks to hang coats/clothing on.

Probably won't stay here again.

The people running this motel seem nice. They did call me the morning of my arrival to confirm I was still coming, but when I told them my evening ferry from San Juan Island could be delayed, they said \"don't arrive after 10,\" which seemed unfair because I have zero control over the ferries.
The hotel itself has not had an update since 1955. I swear the bed cover was the original brown and yellow polyester throw. The fan was covered in giant dust bunnies. The room smelled like people smoked in it for 40 years, which they probably did. A couple coats of paint and some new bedding would have gone a long way.

This motel is a good value. It's relatively inexpensive so it doesn't provide all the luxuries of a more expensive place. But it was great for our stay. The location is great, it was clean, the kitchenette (with full fridge) helps save money on meals, etc. We'd stay there again.

What a pleasant surprise and stay

The owner was very nice - asked why we were in town and I explained that we were on a little getaway from the stress of life. Asked if we were here for the Arts Festival? We had no idea about it so I told them no just here for peace and quiet. The owner asked if I wanted to switch to a king bed instead of 2 queens (that’s all that was left when I made my reservation) so of course I said that would be fine. Bless the owners heart as she upgraded us to there guest house. Very nicely appointed, new bed the room looked like new, jetted tube my wife loved, and we had access to all the amenities ie 5 G internet, living room and kitchen. It was very nice and quiet there there was a couple other people staying there but I never heard them but did meet them during our coming and going… very polite and friendly just like my wife and me. When we checked out the owner asked us to please come back and stay with them and I agreed. They offered us a discount for next time. And yes we will be back and yes I will stay with them again.

The motel was affordable and near where I needed to be. The fact that it used the word \"motel\" in its name lowered my expectations as to quality, amenities and guest service. The property met those expectations, so my rating of \"average\" is not meant to be critical. The property had my reservation, charged what I expected, the bed was comfortable, bathwater was hot, toilet worked and the front desk person was competent. My stay lasted for 9 hours and then I was on my way home.

I was seeking a quiet, comfy, clean room with a hot shower for a night of rest while I was traveling.

The San Juan checked off everything!

Next time, I hope to have my whole family with me - we could easily stay here and have plenty of room (w/a bonus - full kitchenette and 2 large tvs at the price point).

The owner/staff are friendly & accommodating. I had a request that helped me out a ton that I'm sure other places would give you grief on (1st floor needed and I arrived a little bit before the 2pm check in and I was able to go right to my room. ).

Ample parking and close to plenty of spots for coffee and food.

If you are seeking the same, you won't be disappointed.

It was affordable, suoer clean, lovely staff, and they were very personable, and friendly. Will come back for that reason alone. Parking is really tight and crowded, but I suppose it cant be helped. There was some other parking in the back on the south side and on the west side. There was also a motorhome parked behind the back parking lot in the alley on someone elses property that seemed to be occupied, and made me a little uncomfortable, because it was so close to the cars, but again not the Motels doing. Everything else felt safe. There is no air conditioning but they do provide fans, and the windows do open, which were helpful, as the rooms get warm, at night. Probably a perk in the fall and winter months. I learned that all the rooms are exactly identical, so there aren't any bad ones. I love how the rooms have one king and one double, and the double is back behind the kitchen, and so you have some separation if you need or want it. They have full size fridges as well. Great little place in Anacortes. Right nexdoor to the 7/11 too.

Family-owned motel with two properties. We were upgraded to a guesthouse (converted large house) they own a few blocks away with a large, clean ensuite room with common full kitchen downstairs. Plenty of onstreet parking on a very quiet street. Owners were chatty and friendly, care about their guests. Reasonable price and good value. Right near the docks but about 3 miles to San Juan islands ferry terminal. Safeway and restaurants nearby. Cute little walkable town with lots of shops, seemed safe.

I showed up almost 1.5 hours before the official 2 pm check-in, and they were beyond friendly and accommodating…and on a Thursday leading up to Memorial Weekend no less! Nothing fancy here, furniture is outdated and basic, but my room was large, spotlessly clean, and the location can’t be beat! Seriously, about a two minute walk from the main drag, restaurants, shops, grocery stores, etc. Full-sized refrigerator, a microwave, two TVs, plenty of cabinet space, and even a two-burner stove top built into the counter. No AC, but two quality ocillating fans. Laundry on-site as well. I was only here for one night, but if you’re not too fussy and traveling on a budget this would be a perfect base-camp while exploring the area.

If it weren't for the lady at the reception desk who was very polite, patient, and kind, this motel would have gotten a low rating from our stay. My wife got bitten by bed bugs on her arms and legs during our stay there, and although we like the place, your parking space could be better. You have the best access to pretty everything there, but the space is too small, making it feel like we rented a box! We drove a midsize SUV, which could barely fit in your parking lot. Another thing too, you have no ice machine, which would make you the first and only motel we had ever known to be that way. This is WA, folks! Not AK! Do you not have hot Summers there? This is barely Fall, and to think you have no ice machine for your guests is beyond us! We would never stay at your place again due to the bed bugs issues, but we thank the lady receptionist for your courtesy and professionalism. You are the reason why we didn't give your place a 1 star rating.

I’ve stayed both at the Motel itself and the Guest House. Both are good, not fancy but very comfortable. The Guest House is perfect if you’re looking for a place to relocate while doing something else around Anacortes. Locations are close to the Main Street and the waterfront. The staff is super friendly, accommodating, and welcoming. Definitely recommended.
