We stayed for 2 nights with our 1.5 year old. We rented a junior suite to have some extra space for him and it worked out really well. Our room was a big C-shape, so we could hang out in the living room on one end during naps/bedtime and it was quiet for him on the other end.

Hotel property was very pretty and it was nice having a pool up top with fun views of the cruises coming in and out.

Staff was all very kind, especially the valets who helped us with our baggage on the first floor.

With an expected 4 pm check in, we arrived at the hotel around 5:30 to find our room was not ready. Our initial conversation with the employee was that they did not know what time our room would be ready and they would call us.
After waiting 2 hours in the bar/restaurant area I went to the front desk and they had our room. No phone call. We finally got to our room at 7:45.
Unacceptable for the amount we paid for this room, or for any hotel.

Check in was frustrating. The check-in time says 4:00 but upon arrival, there was no room ready and we had to wait until close to 6:00pm for check in. It was frustrating after a long day of flying. We offered to take a down-graded room but was told they could not assist us as we booked through a third party, Expedia. They seem to forget that if it weren't for that third-party, Expedia, the room would never have been booked - others on site, who were also waiting, experienced the same. Were made to feel like our business did not matter as we did not book direct.

We arrived at 430pm and was told our room should be ready in an hour. Went to grab some food came back at 830pm and room still was not ready. After another 1/2 hour they gave me a room with 2 beds looking at a building when I had booked a deluxe King Bayview. I was paying $500 per night for this room. They finally gave me a $50 per night discount which was ridiculous. Get to room had not been properly cleaned. When asked for bar of soap at first told they were out, but finally found me one. We had stayed at your property in September and it was a totally different experience with staff, room and every aspect, so I recommended this hotel to the couple traveling with us and then we had this terrible experience. I am also Vice President for National Travel and have recommended your porperty to many clients which I no longer will be doing. I was told you had a change of management recently which I am assuming is responsible for the decline.

Nice stay, excellent location but service is lacking. Perfect location on the waterfront near Old San Juan-close to restaurants, bars and shops-especially good if you are taking a cruise. Breakfast and bar were enjoyable with gracious staff and good selection. Room was clean and comfortable but we had to ask numerous times for shower gel and shampoo, because the wall-mounted bottles in the shower stall were empty. Twice staff brought a bag full of everything BUT shower gel and shampoo. FINALLY on the third day they got it right. Worst part of stay was ordering a taxi the night prior to departure for 5:30 am and it never showed up. At 5:30 am we asked young man outside to check if it was on the way. He seemed unconcerned and said the woman who ordered it the night prior had not conveyed the information. He was more concerned with his cell phone and said he had asked another taxi driver who'd just left to return and pick us up after he dropped off the guests who left just before us. I explained that was 20 min. to the airport with the current passengers, 20 min. back to the hotel, and another 20 min. back to the airport, making us an HOUR late. He didn't seem to see the problem. We managed to find another taxi driver but were extremely anxious about making our 8:30 am flight. Overall, we did not feel that the high price of the rooms ($500-600/night) were reflected in the service provided.

I was very disappointed when I got there. The customer service was awful. Our room was not ready and no one really cared much and we had several little kids.
I didn’t think the staff was very understanding. Also was promised to be compensated for all the problems and nothing happened.
I expected better out of a Marriott. Very disappointed in the hotel.

Our room was not ready until three hours after check-in. We were told we would be comped breakfast the next day and they said no and sent our children back. Wasted a night because we couldn’t shower because room was not ready. Staff was unfriendly and rooms were dirty. I do not recommend this hotel and would never stay there ever again.

The staff was great. We were greeted and escorted to our room when we checked in. They always had a smile and asked if we needed anything. Modern hotel in area with mostly old hotels. Location was good. Could watch the cruise ships come in from the bar balcony. Easy walk or cheap uber anywhere. Very few and uncomfortable lounge chairs around the small pool was disappointing. View of city from pool area was awesome. We used the small cooling refrigerator in our room for food. We would stay there again.

Check-in was a nightmare. We waited with about thirty other guests for hours past our four o'clock check-in time. They did give us a $21 voucher to the restaurant in the hotel to make up for the delay. But $21 doesn't cover much there.
Once we get our room, everything was great. They have us a late check out, the room was beautiful, the shower was amazing.
The food in the hotels restaurant was good, but expensive. The drinks were blah. But the view they have from the restaurants deck is the best in old San Juan.
The rooftop pool is a great oasis with incredible views of the city.
We've stayed here before and will definitely stay there again when in the area.

I loved everything about the room before I even got in the room… it was the ambience. The atmosphere was delightful when I finally entered the room. I felt like I was in heaven had the best view. The balcony is small, but I was still thrilled as a matter of fact every time I come to Puerto Rico I’m staying at the same hotel. The service was amazing. I loved everything about it.

For Expedia: the hotel room “Suite, 1 Bedroom, Balcony, Bay View” is incorrectly advertised to show photos of a balcony that you can walk out onto. This was a reason why I booked the room. The “balcony” that you actually get with this room is a Juliet style balcony that you cannot walk out onto. This should be corrected please.

For Hotel Rumbao: excellent hotel, complimentary mimosas and waters, kind and helpful service, $21 food credit, outstanding steak burger and fries, included buffet breakfast with much variety, nice pool on the roof with a stunning view, great shower pressure and temperature, 1 hour expedited check in at 3pm and complimentary 1 hour late check out at 12pm! WOW! My only complaint are asking several times for the pull out sofa to be set up and around 9pm it was, and to please add a few more lounge chairs to the pool area.

I booked a second night after an airline provided a complimentary night due to flight cancelations. We asked to stay in the same room to avoid transitions midday. We left the room at noon and returned around 6:30PM to find the room had NOT been serviced. We went to the front desk and asked for the room to be cleaned. They said that they had issues with houskeeping today and didn't have housekeeping staff still in the hotel. She asked what I needed and that she'd have to check with the head of housekeeping to see if we could get towels and a change of sheets. They were supposed to call to confirm. I called back 30 minutes later and asked the status. The supervisor of the front desk said he wasn't sure but he'd check & let us know. I asked to change to a clean room and was told they don’t have any. Why am I paying for a dirty/unmade room?

This hotel has been remodeled since my last stay. It is beautiful. The restaurants were great. Great overnight prior to cruise. The only negative was at check in. They had a very long line with only two people working. Almost everyone had a reservation and leaving on cruise on next day. There must be a more efficient way of handling the check in. The clerks were very harried therefore rude.

Our stay at Hotel Rumbao, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel was a mixed experience, mainly due to poor service, lack of organization, and inconsistent housekeeping.
The check-in process was disorganized and unprofessional. The front desk staff was not very polite or welcoming, and communication was inconsistent. We were repeatedly told the room would be ready shortly, only to be asked to wait again. It felt unfair, as if rooms were being assigned arbitrarily without a clear system or explanation.
Guest services were also disappointing. According to our Expedia booking, the room should include an electric kettle and a coffee maker. While there was a coffee maker in the room, it did not work properly, and there was no electric kettle. After multiple calls and waiting several hours, we were only provided with a pot of hot water. Later, we were told the hotel does not provide electric kettles and that guests should get hot water from the restaurant themselves.
Housekeeping was extremely inconsistent. During our four-days stay, our room was cleaned only once, and that was late in the afternoon on the last night (around 5 PM), only after following up twice with the front desk, despite daily housekeeping being advertised. Even more frustrating, the housekeeping staff discarded food and fruit we had purchased that were inside a bag, without checking the contents of the bag or confirming with us first. This was unacceptable.

The hotel is very clean and beautiful. However, for travel during holiday periods, I recommend thinking it through carefully. We arrived on the 29th, and check-in was scheduled for 4:00 p.m.; however, our room was not ready at that time. We were finally given access to the room at 9:30 p.m., apparently due to a staff shortage.
The staff was very kind and made an effort to resolve the situation and offer compensation.

The restaurant was nice, but short staff. It was hot in the restaurant. Food was great. The reception area was amazing. The car valet people were awesome and the bellhop attendant was awesome!

I feel that this review would have been a lot better if we had not been awaken to the sound that someone was trying to break into our room through the wall/connecting door only to find out that repairs were taking place and no one in the hotel let their guests know...unbelievable!!!!! Not to mention that the photo posted in this review is no where near the level of the room that we stayed in.
