All off the above, very low class, I wouldn’t recommend this place for anyone with standards it smells and it was just a room with a very old bathroom and toilet poorly painted, I had to ask for a mini refrigerator and for the rooms to be cleaned for my 10 day stay, I think they’re used to renting it out for a few hours a night.

This is likely the worst place I have ever stayed in. We needed a room as flights cancelled and airline did not help out and no other rooms in Belize city. This hotel is I would think best rented by the hour for activities other than accommodation

WARNING. THIS IS NOT A HOTEL THIS IS A BROTHEL.
The rooms are extremely dirty, there is no keys for the room, the lock on the door doesn't work and in some rooms you have mirrors on top of the bed, and as you can imagine it was noisy.

Disappointing Belize City one night stay

Really disappointing, the hotel had a toilet brush in the bathroom that was covered in number 2 and stunk out the bathroom. The sheets had greasy stains and the towels were very old and ripped we couldn't use them. It was so expensive as well for what we got. Would not recommend. The staff seemed nice enough and were helpful.

It was a very scary place. Our room had no hot water,
we could not control the air conditioning and only had a sheet on the bed. The mirror above the bed and disco lighting confirmed our thoughts that this was a brothel.

The room was dirty, bug infested and bleak. The beds did not even have a top sheet - just a bottom sheet and a dirty bedspread! We also rented a car from them - when we got to the car we found it absolutely filthy inside and out. When we asked for a different car, we were told there were no other cars available. As we had an appointment, we took the car as is. It was dead empty of gas and every single light in the dash was on. The brakes squealed as they were shot and the front end of the car felt like it was going to drop out! What a nightmare. When we returned, shaken to the hotel and asked to speak with the owner - he initially refused to talk to us and when he finally did he told us that Belize is a third world country and we should expect that kind of car. A total disaster and I want to warn all other unsuspecting customers to run, not walk away from a stay at The Best Time Inn, Belize!

OK stay. The room needs improvement.

The guys who work the front desk are really friendly and helpful. We enjoyed talking to both of them. They are locals. The owner is from Jordan, and was trying to sell us the hotel for 700k USD, which was a bit odd..

The room itself however was rather run down. The room was humid and smelled like mold. They did not allow open windows, so I am guess that is why. Turning on the AC helped a bit. But I suggest that they install screens and then let people open the windows.
The bathroom had cockroaches, but the owner told us that is because if the season. I am not sure if that was acceptable.
Breakfast was simple, coffee, toast (butter, peanut butter and jam), eggs and bananas.
They have car rental on site, but it was not cheap. We used CarOne instead. But we were able to park right across the street which was awesome.

This part of town was terrifying, we had to be back in our room before dark or we were told we would robbed or worse. This was an eye opening experience in the worst way. TV didnt work, ants everywhere. We had booked 4 nights in total and only stayed 1 of the nights. The staff was friendly, only pausative of this place.

The owner and his on-site employer were extremely helpful but there was little to do in that particular area. The room was very clean but the facilities were worn. The photo is accurate and the wall is painted as shown. The window looked out into a walled covered area, open to anyone in the hotel and so drapes had to be drawn all times it made the room dark and closed in. There was a wonderful restaurant within walking distance from the hotel right on the river which was lovely. I would suggest that the owners make this information available at check-in. Walking in this area, is extremely hazardous due to sidewalks that are very uneven, filled with holes and run alongside some kind of concrete drainage and so you have to look down all the time. The owner rents cars and is good about directions but has only two brochures to things you can do in the area.

I was able to check in before the check-in time and the staff was friendly and made me feel welcomed. This property was under renovation and one staff member told me they were thinking about putting a refrigerator in each room, that would be nice as I had to use the one in the lobby and a microwave is in the lobby. The room was a decent size. Overall I was satisfied

This room was better than we expected. It was immaculately maintained. The room was small, but had everything we needed. It was walking distance to some great restaurants and to grocery stores. The hotel provides a simple breakfast of coffee, tea, juice, toast, cereal, cheese, and fruit. It was everything we needed. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Will stay again. Fantastic price and quiet. The cleanliness was astonishing!

The room was very basic, quite dated. We did not put anything in the closet because there were damp spots.we saw the outside around the air co. There was only one blanket for us 4 and it was not very fresh and clean. No shower gel and conditioner, no tumbler for toothbrushes, and no air dryer, no microwave, no small percolator. There was breakfast, tea,only Nescafe style, which is not very good! We had bread, jam, butter, a pitcher with cereals, bananas and another fruit of the day, a pitcher of orange juice and a milk carton. It was not in individual version, the butter and jam was the same during our stay, which is not very hygienic.The breakfast room smells of moisture. the flow of the water was very weak, not obvious to wash your hair and water barely warm. There is no parking, we park in the street. The only thing really positive is the kindness of the manager and the receptionist. We are not difficult but have been greatly disappointed.

Nice cute hotel in Belize City

This hotel is in the heart of local Belizeans. I, myself like to get the real feel of a country wherever I go and this place definitely did that for me. The hostess/staff was so sweet and always smiling. They were extremely helpful if I needed something and always willing to offer advice and help get cabs. I truly enjoyed my stay and felt safe 100% of the time. Staying in Belize City there isn’t much to do but if I did stay in Belize city again I would definitely stay here again.

The place was in an okay location. It's quite a walk to the nearest good place to eat. The entrance/lobby area smells moldy. The rooms are decent but needs good scrubbing/updating. And we were only provided a flat sheet for a blanket. I paid $131US for two nights - not sure if that's good or steep. Oh, it can get annoyingly noisy because of the neighbors' dogs barking all night.

Pleasant budget hotel

This is a nice friendly hotel for those who want a place to stay as a base for visiting Belize City and going on trips to explore the northern end of Belize. It's not the place to be if you want to lounge around sunning yourself by a pool with a bar next to it - there are other hotels in the city (much more expensive) that provide that service. The rooms are simple and clean, the staff are friendly and helpful.
The only food available is a simple 'continental breakfast' - cereals, fruit, bread, jam, cheese, but that was fine for me as a starter to the day. For lunch and evening meal I was elsewhere (the Riverside Tavern only a few minutes walk away is an excellent place to go).
The location seemed at first experience to be in the back end of town but after exploring over a few days I realised that most of the city is like that.

One night before flight

We stayed 1 night before our flight and picked this hotel so that we could walk to the Museum of Belize. 15 min walk, $25 taxi ride to airport. Nice dinner at Riverside Tavern 2 blocks away. Typical Belize budget hotel. Penny was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was toast, bananas, cereal, Happy Cow cheese and jam.

The hotel staff is very friendly and ready to help you. We arrived at 8 AM in the morning after overnight bus. They let us check in and rest even though the official check in time was 3 PM. The hotel neighbourhood is ok during daylight hours but would not recommend walking around in the evening and night times. After dark, it is recommended to take taxi rather than walking in Belize city. The room and toilets were clean. The breakfast was included. Toasts, Cereals, fruits and coffee. Would recommend this hotel to the tourists on budget trip.

I clean convenient hostel

It was much better than we expected given the reasonable price. It's a renovated facility that is clean bug free with reasonable sleeping Arrangements. We were a party of six and they were able to accommodate with flexible room and bed Arrangements. I would stay there again and would recommend it to most of my friends. It is within walking distance of a very good restaurant and has very good 24 hours security and desk coverage. if you want shiny new and want shell out for the Radisson.

The best thing about this hotel is the great staff, extremely helpful and attentive group. But the place shows its age in the shower (water control handles getting stuck), bed sheets with holes (really surprised to see this) and slow running toilet. Breakfast was wholesome and with fresh fruit.

With improvement, this could be a much better place to stay.

The Bakadeer in is clean, safe, seemingly Belizean version of Motel 6, that is to say simple, and a bargain deal. The front desk was always staffed, the rooms, clean, and the \"continental breakfast\" in the morning was a nice start to the day.
What you pay for is most certainly what you get. The room was simple. One downside, which the Bakadeer staff, unfortunately, have no control over is the neighbors dogs barked all night during our stay. Not particularly restful sleep...
All in all, I would recommend staying here if you're looking for a quick, cheap place to crash, but not if you're looking for relaxation.

Friendly, clean, and reasonably priced.

As a veteran of low budget travel in Central America I was thrilled to find the Bakadeer Inn. Penny, the owner, and all the staff are very warm and friendly and ready to help with advice.
My room, on the ground floor with a nice brick-floored common patio outside with tables and chairs and tropical greenery outside, was basic, but spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable, air con and ceiling fan both worked very well, ensuite shower had plenty of hot water.
A continental breakfast comes with the room rate and usual consisted of: papaya slices, bananas, make-your-own toast and jam, juice, and excellent coffee. It's at the low end of the price range for Belize City and is excellent value for money.
On nearby Freetown St there are lots of street food stalls, small restaurants, and small stores for basic needs.
Riverside Tavern, around the corner at 2 Mapp St, is an excellent,fairly upmarket restaurant. Prices are obviously higher than on the street but lower than North American and the food and service are excellent. At the west end of Freeport Rd by the traffic island and bridge is Victoria's Panades for cheap snacks.
Downtown and the waterfront are about a 15-20 minute walk along Freetown Rd. It is a fairly main street and I found it well-lit and felt safe at night, as was the general area around the hotel. Having said that you do need to take all the usual precautions to ensure safe travel.

I thoroughly enjoyed my 8 days at Bakadeer Inn and highly recommend it.

The bed was comfortable, the shower was warm, and the breakfast was sufficient, so I was pleased and will certainly return to Bakadeer if the need to stay in Belize City ever comes up again.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Bakadeer Inn. The Inn was difficult to find, because the streets aren't clearly marked and many of the streets are one-way. However, Penny was very kind and extremely helpful. We were a little skeptical of the neighborhood and slightly worried about our rented car, but Penny assured us it would be fine overnight (and it was). She even suggested a restaurant within walking distance for dinner, which we enjoyed. The rooms were clean and the complimentary breakfast was simple, but very nice. She also had plenty of cold bottled water we could buy from her at a very reasonable price. When we checked out, Penny provided driving directions to our next destination further inland and water taxi departure times for future reference.

My Belize Stay

Stayed 10 nights accompanied by my sister. Not a posh hotel, but delivered what was expected for a modest price and for our purposes. Near to all the eating places both exotic and modest in delivery, appearances and meal prices, ranging from $7.00 to $37.00 on average. Modest walking distance from the vegetable and fruit municipal market, variety stores and the Belize City areas. Can stay there again. Friendly, willing and courteous staff added to the comfort. My first visit to Belize too.

The front desk attendant was awesome. She pointed us in direction of local eateries. English was spoken very clearly. The rooms were clean. The beds were not what I was used but they did the trick. Just not as comfortable as I would find in a hotel back at the states. Overall the place was excellent. Water pressure in bathroom was nice. Room was cool prior to our arrival. Rooms were booked side by side. Nice stay. Didn't wake up in time for breakfast so I can't comment on that.

Great place in the center of Belize City!

The Bakadeer is a very simple hotel that you can find in the heart of Belize City. It is close to local shops and cheap take-away places to eat. We had internet in the lobby and a nice quiet room in the back of the hotel. My husband and I were very pleased with the hotel overall. Clean, great AC, cool shower, free breakfast (cereal, coffee, juice, fruit, toast). The people at the front desk were very friendly and very helpful. Penny was amazing! She would chat with us and talk with us about local culture, customs and the ins-and-outs of how things work to help us on our way to Guatemala and across the boarder. I would recommend the Bakadeer hotel over the larger hotels found on the coast. When I get back to Belize City I will definitely stay at this hotel again.

Unfortunately, Belize City has limited accommodation options, all overpriced for what they are.
If money isn't a limitation, than I'd recommend the Ramada over this place, but, if you're needing to watch the pennies, than this place does provide the basics. It's a roof over your head, clean, and safe. But basic.
The night man couldn't have been more blaze or disinterested, however he allowed me to fill my water bottle from the staff filtered water bottle, and allowed me to use the phone to order take away to be delivered.

I booked this hotel because I saw someone say it is within \"walking distance\" of many attractions...this is not true. It is walking distance to the ferry, and two restaurants. However you can not see a beach view from anywhere in Belize city. It was our honey moon, and we wanted to be out to watch the sun rise and set, but you can not walk to far \"safely\" from your hotel at night as told by many Belizian. The price was great, but if we did it again and wanted to do the Mayan ruins and the cave tubbing in one day we would stay here again just because the water ferry leaves early in the day and I would be hard to see both without fear of missing the taxi. The staff is VERY nice and very helpful they are very knowlagable of the area and we questioned them to death about things to do and what we could walk too. The area looks run down but that is how the city is, to me (8months pregnant) I was a little worried at first, but the Belizen citizens highly value pregnant women and I was always well catered to and well taken care of and every citizen we talked to where very nice and helpful. If I went again we would stay in caye caulker for about the same price we paied here. We did end up staying one night out there, the air conditioner worked twice as good and I was able to walk away from the hotel without my husband to watch the sunrise and set on the beach safely. As well as it was $55 for the night the shower was double the size as well.

Hotel by the town - don't expect too much

Hotel located by the close to town proxcimity - room was clean. You can hear noise and people walking by as the room is too simple and has no sound proof. I think it is too expensive for the price you pay for the hotel.

Where to stay during a hurricane

Crystal the hotel manager was awesome!! We came over to Belize City from San Pedro island after scuba diving, to go cave rubbing and zip lining. This was supposed to be a inexpensive place to stay before catching are playing the next day. But then Earl a hurricane one came through and the hotel was awesome about making sure that we were safe and had food and water. It is also the best deal in Belize City! No off street parking, free WiFi, free continental breakfast and a friendly staff!!

The stay was great for what we needed to do in town. Free wifi and was adequate in room. Coffee was great in lobby and owner was nice. We felt safe there and it was quite.

OK for the money

wi fi only in the lobby made it interesting but not ideal. kind of lame breakfast. noisy neighborhood.
overall not a bad option if you need to do it on the cheap.

Great staff, sketchy enighborhood

The neighborhood was awful(there was night security though), I didn't really feel safe leaving at night. The room however was clean, comfortable and had a place for us to lock up our stuff. The hotel staff was AWESOSME! They were very friendly and arranged tours for us at good prices.

Hotel close to public transport

I'm one of those persons who does not like to spend a lot of money just to spend the night sleeping. The Bakadeer Inn fit my needs perfectly. Clean, simple, no frills...and cheap! Very pleasant staff and helpful with directions, instructions, etc... they are within easy walking distance of the bus terminal (I used it nearly every day), the ocean ferry (I used it one day), the seaside and decent inexpensive local restaurants. The room had air-con, TV, clean restroom, and a comfortable bed--no need for anything more on my part.

A great central location to explore Belize

This hotel was great. It was very clean, the air conditioner was cold and the water was hot. If your looking to stay in the city this may not be the place for you. If exploring one of the many Mayan ruins, a cave tour, zip line in through the jungle, or the zoo and the cayes it is a great location. The manager was very friendly and always had great suggestion for food. Belize City was a great experience and this hotel was a great find. Also, having an open mind when traveling international is an advantage as I learned. The location was difficult to find when walking around we figured it out. The water taxi to Caye Caulker and San Pedro was a very easy walk and the tourist village was easy to get too also. I would recommend this hotel to anyone hats wants to experience Belize to the fullest.

Misleading information

While staff were personable and helpful, I believe instead of making fancy fan-like displays with the towels, more time should be spent on cleaning. The bathtub was O.K., but the faucet handles were coated with white soap scum and the shower curtain was moldy. The window seal behind (and touching) the bed was full of dead bugs. The box springs were grey and soiled looking and the mattress, though newer, appeared unclean. (I checked and checked both for bed bugs and though I found none, I slept on top of the cover sheet (there were no blankets). The neighborhood is very run down (which I knew from reviews), but worse than I thought. The bldg. next to the hotel is almost completely collapsed and probably houses rats or other critters. The hotel has neither a shuttle to the airport or town, nor do they have any form of business center (computer, etc) for guest use. The continental breakfast was O.K., usual stuff. Except for the staff, I would give this hotel about 1 1/2 stars.

Great hotel to fully experience real life in Beliz

Property is located in a regular neighborhood and is very small. A little edgy but the local people were very friendly. Staff is fantastic and an excellent resource for finding what you need. Good restaurants within short walking distance. Rooms are very clean and the beds are comfortable. Showers had hot water. Air conditioning was adequate. I would recommend for anyone who really wants to get to know the people of Belize.

The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The neighborhood isn't the best, but wasn't any worse than the rest of the city. There is a nice bar around the corner with excellent food, and there are several decent restaurants within walking distance. It's about a ten minute walk to downtown, or the ocean.

Nice for the price!!! Friendly staff!!!

Well this is not a couples retried or a fancy resort but if you are in the need to stay in a affordable place for a few days in Belize City this is a good place to stay Safe friendly staff you go to open up to them!!! There is free parking in front of the Hotel on the street!!!! I always found a parking spot!!! The Hotel is open 24/7 front desk & security in the evening!!! If you don’t have transportation this Hotel is very close to the center of Belize City walking distends!!

Inexpensive stay in Belize City

Nice clean place, wonderful hosts, very helpful with finding tours, taxis, etc. Rooms were adequate, could have used a chair and an additional light for reading. No fridge, but they let us use theirs to hold our drinks, food, etc. Breakfast was included, and the coffee was good. Toast, jam, pineapple and rolls. Enough to get you out the door. Walking distance to town. For the price, a very good deal.

Location OK, as would be most places in Belize city. Air con only really works in some rooms (104is OK,ask for one with the new style air con). The WiFi only works in reception. The rooms were clean enough with hot water, but we have been bitten alive by something there as was under our clothes.

Then we asked them to wash our clothes. They had all our clothes except what we were wearing and they decided to bleach them ( no whites were included). They apologised for ruining all our clothes (although they initially said it was only two pairs of shorts) and we had to fight to get some compensation. They would not even refund the room cost, let alone the cost to replace all the clothes, some of which were new for our honeymoon. We now face having to wash our own clothes whilst on the remainder of our honeymoon as my wife will not trust anybody with the clothes she has left.

this was my first time staying here. and will probably be the last. I come to belize often. I try to stay somewhere in belize city to get to the airport.was told to smoke in the smoing arear. no ashtray . clerk brought us a pasic cup. the so called continental breakfast was expensive. & 2.75 for coffe or tea . $1.50 for water ! .they wanted $6.00 us for ccontinental breakfast. fruit, coffe tea is all. not a great neighborhood. the rooms had a bad smell . I have stayed in many paces in belize city . this was the worst.

Dont take the tours or offered through reception

Inexpensive, The A/C worked. The area seemed safe but residential with loud dogs next door.
Cons: The Wi-Fi rarely functioned. Door lock was an interior-type with was no pick-guard. TV reception was bad.
Airport shuttle advertised but it’s just a $25 US cab. On my return, I took a local hotel’s shuttle for $15.
No room phones + the lobby phone cost $2.50 a minute.

WARNING: DON’T TAKE the tours offered through reception.
Advertised as ½-day tours including lunch but prices more than double of other companies.
When the guide arrived, complained that he doesn’t take single people. I said I’d go elsewhere but he said “no problem” and got me into the van. After a few miles, he complained again and suggested that I take 2 tours to make it worthwhile. I agreed to the zoo and cave-tubing tour.
The cave-tubing tour involved me running after the guide as he ran past the other groups during the hike to the caves. I found him by the river. As other tour guides explained the caves, my guide dragged me past all the other group tours. Including the hike, it took about a half hour.
The 2nd tour was the zoo: 1 hour. He saw a woman and his friends and charged them for a trip back to Belize.
My two 1/2-day tours amounted to 5 hours including travel-time. At the hotel, the price for my tours went from $130 to $180 US because I now had to pay entrance fees to the zoo because he doesn’t normally take one passenger.
Arrange for tours at a local hotel or buy a sim card and call yourself.

Decent for the price

My friend and I needed a cheap place to stay before our early flight, and this place did the job. It's not fancy by any means, but it was clean and the air conditioning was lovely. The neighborhood didn't seem to be the greatest, but the hotel staff gave tips on where we could get dinner within walking distance.

Rooms were decorated in an odd shade of orange and lime green, but were clean and comfortable. Staff were generally helpful and friendly. Due to the security situation in Belize City (advised not to go out on foot after dark), the front door was always kept locked. Not a problem, as there should always be a receptionist sat on the desk to unlock it for you. Annoyingly, one evening, the receptionist preferred to be sat in a back room. Twice I waited more than 5 minutes to be let in, banging and shouting at the door. They really need to install a doorbell, or else give customers a key.
