Super friendly staff. I had to check in really late and they were very nice about it. Also in the morning, I got to chat with the owner and she called me a cab and triple checked that it would come at the time I needed and she said she would drive me herself if it didn't arrive on time.

The staff was wonderful - lots of great recs for dining & things to do. We didn't explore much of Belize City, but we got great info for the time we were there.

Everyone says the city isn't safe - but honestly, be smart and don't do dumb things like flash cash, and you'll be fine :)

I had an extremely disappointing experience with this property. I arrived during their advertised check-in hours, only to find that the place was completely closed with no one available to assist me. Despite multiple attempts to contact them, I received no clear explanation or support.

To make matters worse, they refused to issue a refund even though I was unable to check in through no fault of my own. Their lack of professionalism, communication, and basic customer service is unacceptable.

I wouldn’t recommend booking this property unless you’re prepared to risk being stranded or losing your money. A little effort on their part to resolve the issue could have gone a long way, but sadly, that didn’t happen. Proceed with caution.

Got this hotel based on the pictures but once we went inside it was too fenced up like a jail but understood since locals mention the area being too dangerous at night. Once we went into the room there was no way of taking a shower. The bathroom was so unsanitary and unbelievably dirty. The toilet was leaking from the bottom and had to put a towel. Bugs were also crawling over the floor by the beds.

We took a bus from Melchor border that dropped us off in the middle of a random street and got this hotel based on the pictures but once we went inside it was too fenced up like a jail but understood since locals mention the area being too dangerous at night. Bugs were also crawling over the floor by the beds.

All of the employees who work here are amazing!! For Independence Day, they had a bbq and gave out free food to the community. They also helped me get food delivered to the location, when nothing walking distance was open. There is a place here where you can fill your water for free, which is really awesome!

The staff was super friendly, helpful and recommended a great restaurant. Bird Isle a few blocks away. The cockroaches in the room (2) were big but killable. The price was very low for the one night stay so you get what you pay for I guess. The AC worked well. The TV took some figuring out (turned out it was unplugged). The WiFi worked great. The beds were soft. The locks on the door worked. But there was some gap below the door, guess that's were the roaches got in.

Excellent value for the price! Friendly staff. We arrived a little bit late on a holiday weekend and restaurants were closed. The receptionist ordered a pizza for us to be delivered. Nice dining area and even a shared kitchen. Easy walking to everything in town. Television did not work, but it was too late in the evening to ask for help. The next day they said they would fix it but we were leaving that time.

On arrival I was waiting for 30 minutes out in sun one was there to open the door it was lock.

In morning no water in shower to take bath. After that from night of 4th day of stay there was no WiFi working. And in night no one stays from staff in property. In my 7day's stay for 3 days I was alone in the property. After that some other guest were there with me in property. But still no staff was there in property in night. At least one security guard should be there.

I will suggest that please do not book this property for stay.
When complaint about no water in bathroom the staff was respond that I am the only one who is complaining that there is no water in room. I was feeling that I am here to take care of there property in room. And in seven days of stay no room cleaning was done. So I advised to all of them who is seeking for this property on Orbitz do not book is property for your stay.

Short stay in Belize City

Last weekend I stayed at Coningsby for a couples of days during my most recent trip to Belize. The property manager Janet was a very good and pleasant hostess. She informed me about available restaurants in the area and even offered to pickup my Chinese food order on Monday a local holiday. Although accomodations were simple, I would definitely stay at this hotel again in the future.

The lady at the desk was friendly. Unfortunately, the area is not great (police everywhere, so it’s safe), businesses are still shut down from covid, immediate surrounding restaurants close by 3:00, the hotel restaurant is not open, and there’s absolutely nothing to do there. I was in my room watching Netflix by 4:00 and did not leave it till I could get on the first ferry out of town.
If all you need is a shower and a bed for the night it’s fine. It is walking distance to the ferry, so there’s a convenience factor.

The water was not working at all! And there was no shampoo and conditioner! The air conditioner was turned off when we got there, so the room was very hot. We ended up leaving 10 minutes after we got there because it was so bad. We are still waiting on our refund.

This hotel is in a pretty nice location in town (in terms of centrally located, being quiet and feeling safe). Being able to buy breakfast there in the morning is very nice. The staff were friendly. The AC and TV worked well, but the bathtub in our room was not in very good shape.

This place was in a sketchy part of town. Even the local Nacho shop owner was concerned with us being out in tat neighbourhood after dark.
The room was noisy. There was dogs barking all night.
The shower needs to be fixed. There was a rust hole through the tub that fits my whole hand and the showerhead has no pressure.

The staff was nice. The room had AC.

Good for budget traveling singles.

The location was great. In the downtown area but on a residential quiet street two blocks off the main street. The place could use a good cleaning, there was extensive rust in the bathroom where I refused to shower without my sandles on. Overall the budget price makes it acceptable for certaiin situations. I am a single male so walking around in the area and comfort level didnt bother me as much because I chose it for the price and location. However, I probably would choose a different place if i came with my spouse. The air conditioning was good and strong.

Save money here so you can explore more of Belize!

Needed a quick accommodation due to a late arriving flight before transferring to San Pedro. The neighborhood is dark at night, but morning revealed a quaint location that was walking distance to the San Pedro Express Water Taxi. (Pay no mind to the guys on the way haggling you to try the \"other service\") The rooms were adequate, with a quick to chill you Air Conditioning system. Aside from the age of the place being apparent, it was well cleaned and kept after and would have been a suitable location to stay for a few days if you planned to partake in excursions from Belize City. A simple breakfast was available for purchase the next morning, as was coffee and juice. It's not fancy living, but everything you need to get by and just a quick stroll to the port. My wife and I would happily return, and plan to.

The room was not ready at check-in and instead of cleaning it herself, the manager blamed her staff for not being present and proceeded to spend the afternoon on her phone and watching Netflix until the staff arrived to clean the room.
The duvet had stains and holes and the shower curtain was covered in mold. The room was quite dirty and did not look like it had been cleaned at all.
I would not recommend this place at all, and as other reviewers have said, I have stayed at budget hostels, all of which were cleaner and better maintained than this.

Staying an extra night before a group tour started at this hotel. In decent condition and staff were attentive. Had wonderful home cooked breakfast and dinner if you chose to pay for it. Condition was fair but for $72 USD was a great price. Neighborhood was quiet and well lit. Felt safe walking around during day but overall Belize City is not to be walked at night. Not much in the way of locals out at night either so taxi is way to go. Enjoyed my couple of days in Belize City experiencing the \"Gritty\" atmosphere. Part of the real Belize instead of the expensive resorts.

Right from when we got to hotel.... we felt like we were intruders. The staff during our stay was friendly but omg the owner has this angry face almost like annoyed because we booked there! She speaks to you sarcastically and makes you feel uncomfortable. Usually when you have your business you are happy people are paying to stay in your place . We were very confused why her unfriendly and cold attitude. Maybe she doesn't like kids . We were traveling with our 15 , 11, and 19 yr old but we paid extra for them so i really didn't understand her problem. NO... I will never recommend this place . We didn't feel safe and it's a very old place. Also woke up with bug bites all over. It was a last minute change in our plans and i really regret putting my family through that .

Dingy walls, cheap mattresses. Only outlets were in the bathroom. Building is secure and breakfast was solid. The city itself isn't good for tourists, so I'm not sure you could do much better at this price point.

While not abysmal, my experience here was WELL BELOW AVERAGE especially given the exorbitant price. The bathroom, especially the shower/tub, was exceptionally dirty...and I usually stay in hostels. The staff were great, but that was the only redeeming feature of this place. The AC worked well in the room, but the WiFi was not great. Can walk to the bus stop and downtown, but that does little to redeem the hotel (or the city).

Nice people but needs upgrades and better cleaning

I stayed for one night and must admit I'm having a difficult time with this review because the staff and the owner were so lovely and welcoming!

But the room was just not what I was hoping for. The decor was quite dated and the duvet cover had a fresh stain on it. The bathroom hadn't been fully wiped down. Also one of the lights didn't work so the room was quite dark.

On the bright side the hotel was quiet at night and the optional breakfast was very good! However at this time it's not enough to tip the scale and we've cancelled our end of trip booking and found a different hotel.

The hotel itself is really cute and in a really cool old house. With some new and clean linens, working lighting and good housekeeping it would be a gem. I hope the owner reads these reviews and accepts the feedback.

The building is a pretty Victorian with an interesting history. Staff were very nice and helpful. It is about a five minute walk to the Swing Bridge, and in the other direction to Bird Island where there is a nice open air restaurant. The walk felt safe as there were security guards along the way. We enjoyed the cooked to order breakfast.
