With a full kitchen, exactly what i was looking as i am chef, i like to have the option if i want to cook, gathering ingredients from lokal markets. Gem is on a great beach, most days was very quiet, and relaxing. Will definitely return probably for longer stay.

On arrival we thought the hotel was abandoned as the long grass looked like it had not been cut for a month, with weeds everywhere. The GEM is shared with the adjoining hotel that features in all of the pictures. They are a bit blurred for a good reason as the place looks to be 40 years since a renovation, although a fresh slap of paint seems recent on some structures.
We had 1 night in the GEM before being moved to the KALINAGO and just as well as the GEM had no beach views and was musty with heavily worn and damaged interiors that looked 30 years old. The A/C was good but only worked in the bedrooms. The KALINAGO was dated but clean and spacious with good views and A/C. The beach bar area had exposed PVC drainage piping and picnic table seats. The pool looked cloudy and uninviting to swim in, but the ocean and beach were great and picturesque.

Great value for money. Wonderful view of the beach from top floor apartment. All amenities, comfortable bed and spacious and clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Location tucked away but nice walk to Grand Anse beach and mall. My husband and i stayed 4 nights and had a very restful and romantic stay.

Great location, beach front budget hotel property. Stayed 7 nights in a 1 bed flat on the 1st floor sea facing. Pros: Staff friendly and warm, love the garden with tropical fruits and flowers. Kitchen had a toaster, kettle and coffee maker that were used every day. Cons: Place can benefit from renovations; dated decor and colour scheme, furnishings, more detail to cleaning such as tiles, walls and ants. Noisy at times coming from the restaurant 1st thing in the morning. Will I stay again? Yes, and I’ve recommended the Gem to friends.

Gem is located in Mourne Rouge on BBC Beach. It is great for families looking to eat in some or all meals as each unit has a kitchenette, living area and bedroom or bedrooms. The staff are great and the rooms are dated but very clean. The beach is across from the hotel and the beach is in a protected bay making it great for younger kids to play in the sea. The almond tree and sea grape lined beach offers natural shade for sunbathers seeking respite from the hot Grenada sun. There are four restaurants/seaside bars very close by, two serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, and one serving lunch and dinner and one serving dinner. All do not require transportation to get to. There are multiple other options a short taxi ride away.

If you want to spend $600-$1,000 per night in Grenada, you can do that. Plenty of places will take your money. We were looking for a beachfront property away from touristy areas but close enough to St. George's University so we could easily got to our son to visit. I'm not sure we could have found a better place than Gem Holiday Resort.
Gem sits on BBC beach, one of many public beaches in Grenada, but it may as well have been private. We never had more than 8-10 people on the beach near us at any time over four days. And the water was stunning. The scenery all around is beautiful.
As for the property itself, Gem is less flashy and new than other places. But like many places in Grenada it is built for safety and ocean exposure. The rooms are furnished like many other hotels and apartments in Grenada. This suited our needs perfectly fine being we spent so little time in the room over four days. The beds and living room furniture were all very comfortable. The on-site restaurant offered breakfast, lunch and dinner menus as well as a bar with the usual selections of beer, wine and spirits.
The staff were helpful and accommodating. They're Grenadian, so they're some of the most friendly and welcoming people you will ever meet. They also offer taxi service and will arrange excursions for you.
One note, be sure to pick up an electricity converter. There was only one plug in our room for US style outlets. Wasn't a huge deal, but having more outlets would be ideal.

This local hotel could truly be a gem or maybe it used to be, but accommodations are poorly maintained with many items in the room not working and very minimal house cleaning service. Old fashioned house key to enter and no security lock - easy access also through the glass sliding door possible made us feel uneasy.

It was, as was previously reported, in serious need of updating. That said, we know that would come at a cost. For the budget traveler it is a pleasant, homey place to stay on a lovely, quiet crescent of powered sand. Plenty of hot water and the kitchen was perfect for breakfasts in room. It is walkable to several good restaurants and beach bars. The staff are warm and helpful. Especially my namesake, Kathleen. Her employer should know she is worth her weight in gold! Other than a better lock on the door ( I can’t help it, I’m a city kid! ) we loved our stay there!

Gem is perfectly placed on a beautiful sheltered bay in Grenada. It is an older property but is clean and perfect for those that want an apartment rather than a room on a Caribbean beach. Gem is an older property but kept well maintained and clean. BBC beach is one of Grenada's finest beaches so the location is perfect. We enjoyed breakfasts and suppers at Sur la mar during our stay. And the staff need a special mention....good people with great attitudes and smiles. Desline will make you a delicious cocktail and you can't help but like her.

Great location for the beach in Morne Rouge... basically a 20 metre walk away.. Small apartment-type accommodation with cooker and fridge. Decor is a bit dated but spotlessly clean. Large balcony area looking out to sea (over a couple rooftops). Super helpful and friendly staff. There is a beach bar restaurant which is part of the complex and another independent one next door which a has a bit more choice. For self catering there is a supermarket about 25-30 mins walk away.
Overall we loved it and would stay again. Not sure why it only has one star on google.... it deserves better!

We had to switch hotels after experiencing a horrible stay at Reef View Pavillion Villas, and we booked Gem Holiday Beach Resort as our replacement. To our surprise, the personable receptionist (Lorraine) upgraded our room to Kalinago which offered a breathtaking beachfront room with easy access to the pool, bar and parking. Overall we had a great time, and the breakfast at Sur la Mer (their in-house restaurant) was one of the highlights of our stay. Definitely the best view I've experienced while eating breakfast.

Ample space, safe and clean. The bedroom is air conditioned but the sitting area is not. Great balcony with view. Very helpful staff. Eat at LA Plywood right across. Great food. Don't bother with the hotel restaurant. The beach in front is good. You can walk to Grand Anse Beach in 20 min. As well as a grocery. If you are picky about staying in places that are like the Raddison, don't come here. But we thought it was great. Night guard on the property. Quiet too.

It was practically on a lovely beach, staff are very helpful and the place is very quiet and has a homely atmosphere. Could not benefit from the upgrade offered as I needed a kitchenette to use because of my health problems and their sister property does not offer one. Second time visiting.

Lovely apartment on the best beach in Grenada.A little off the beaten track but perfect for a few days as we stopped off in Grenada. Staff were lovely, restaurant does good breakfasts, lunches and dinners (we had breakfast one day and lunch another). My stay was relaxing after the carnival. The people are exceptionally nice and friendly, the beach is very clean and the water is very warm ni matter what time of the day. My only problem is that they charge you service charge plus vat on the food. I think that service charge should be your choice. But overall i love the place and will stay there another time while vacationing in Grenada.

Garden view was a view of roof and tv dish and parking lot, but overall condition of hotel clean and freshly painted

This hotel grew on me. Yes, the furnishings are dated (tube tvs have been upgraded to smart flatscreens). There are not enough outlets (you have to unplug the microwave to use other kitchen appliances). Soap holder screws could use tightening. But it's all part of the charm.

It’s a perfect place for a relaxed and easy going stay. It is clean, not glamorous and the appliances and fixtures are in serious need of updating. But it is a short walk across the parking lot to the beach, ocean front rooms have a balcony with a lovely view, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and always a available, and it feels completely safe. I would definitely choose to stay there again.
