New mattresses required!! Very hard to sleep on. The dated hotel didn’t bother me much because only sleeping there and out at the beach or on excursions, but could not sleep well due to the beds. Toilet didn’t flush appropriately either. It was reported, but was told should have been fixed before we checked in. All that said, the beach is absolutely beautiful and the food and staff at the resort are exceptional. Especially Deslin and the other gals at the beach bar!! Lots of places close by to eat at. Grocery store close. Easy to get a taxi. LOVE the people of Grenada. Such a friendly island! I will be back to this resort pending the mattress resolution lol. A must see island!

We arrived after 3pm (check in is at 3pm) and our room was not ready. We were then told that we were \"upgraded\" so instead of the ground floor ocean front room we booked we were given a room 3 flights up near the compound's burning garbage heap. It was a downgrade.

The room was very clean, well appointed and well air conditioned! It's right on a beautiful beach that's very quiet and calm. The hotel offers snorkel gear, kayaks, towels and beach chairs to use which was awesome.

Above all else though, ALL of the staff are very warm, welcoming and helpful folks that were happy to help arrange taxis and activities to get across the island. 10/10 would recommend!

Location is great. Beach is spectacular. Beautiful color and protected on both sides of the beach making for calm waters. Most of the time the beach is also quiet. Several food and bar option within easy walking distance.
Resort is ok. Very nice views of the water. Staff were general very nice and if asked attentive and helpful. Rooms were cleaned with fresh towels everyday. The resort could updating. Beach towels seem to be limited. Some of the staff seemed a bit clueless. Beach and pool chairs are limited. Tour groups would occasionally take over the pool and bar area.

Grenada is beautiful.This hotel…not so much! This is easily the worst hotel/“resort” I have ever stayed in. I have been to at least 15 countries and 8 Caribbean islands. Let’s start w the fact that the pic on the web is fiction. If this place ever looked like that I can assure you it does not now. Our beds had dirty linen. There were mismatched lamps w dirty lampshades throughout the room. Not one of them a had a bulb more than 40 watts. With every light on in the room I could not see to read before bed because of the lack of light. Also there was NO HOT WATER in the bathroom. No hot water at a beach resort/hotel is unacceptable by any standards.When we asked the hotel management to address the lack of even warm water they sent a man to repair it who ran his hand under the lukewarm at best water and attempted to gaslight us by repeating over and over that the water was hot. There are cats all over the property and they literally lounge freely outside of the rooms, at the beach bar and on the beach itself. My sister had an allergic reaction due to the cat dander being tracked into the room & the management denied the cats’ existence altogether. More gaslighting of course, so that we couldn’t switch hotels. The door to the room couldn't close completely. They also had the worst food.I ordered a simple jerk chicken wrap and it arrived charred black & burnt on one side! When I complained because I could not eat it, they deducted the tax! This hotel is substandard & unacceptable.

Depending which cruise ships were in, the parking lot was swarming with buses full of tourists. They stormed the grounds and took over the place, grabbing all the chaise lounges, then the chairs from the pool. It totally ruined the serenity that I was led to believe I was going to get. One day, the resort rented out the grounds for a birthday party. Screaming kids took over the whole pool. On Sundays, anyone who wants to can pay admission and use the whole place. The Rhum Runner party boat dumps all its passengers on the beach. One day, fishermen came ashore with all their nets, leaving behind hundreds of dead fish in the water.

The room was clean but dated. The balcony had a great view of the beach. The grounds were meticulously maintained. The beach was beautiful. The pool had a swim-up bar. But there was no microwave, coffee pot, suitcase rack, tissues or hair dryer. Only a kettle. There was no floral arrangement in my room as advertised. I never knew whether my shower was going to be the polar plunge or molten lava. It changed daily. We lost water and electricity twice, and for hours at a time. The ceiling fan didn’t work. Nor did the outlet in the bathroom. The air conditioner blew directly onto the bed. The balcony chairs were hard wooden slats. Most of the chaise lounges were broken or missing pieces. The restaurant was not open for dinner. There was a barbecue on the beach, but the food was cold. We had to use water shoes because the beach was full of stones.

The property was on rhe beach. This was so nice. I also liked that they made the beds everyday and changed the towels. The breakfast we had was good as well. The coffee quality needs improvement. The light fixtures in the room are ugly and the lighting is poor. Blue color on the wall needs changing.

The property is safe and truly beachfront. The staff are pleasant and do what they can to accommodate your needs.

The hotel is seriously dated and in need of upgrades. Resources are low, making it difficult to meet customers needs. During our stay we had issues with leaks, no hot water, TV that didn’t work. Staff seemed to try to resolve, 1 of 3 issues resolved.

Loved Grenada but would not stay here again. If you’re on a budget and can work around some of these deficiencies it is doable.

The property was well maintained and clean. However, there should be more to do while at the resort. We attended a party on Wednesday night but no functions either Thursday or Friday night were available. My husband loved the Chicken Roti but the Lambi (Conch) I had was terrible. I couldn’t even finish it. It took a long time for food to be served but the staff was very friendly.

Staying at the Kalinigo Hotel is a bit like enjoying the curate's egg, very good in parts but with irritating asides. The beach is superb, one of the best I have enjoyed and the addition of a fresh water pool at the hotel was excellent. The staff were always friendly and helpful and the location was first class, about 15 minutes from the airport. The dining facilities were a little unexpected but very good and very friendly. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our 10 days at the Kalinigo but there were some irritations. The TV never worked, not a great problem for us but could be for others. The room safe never worked, again irritating, it only needed a new battery and the whole area needs better looking after. Broken sun beds, broken sun umbrellas and piles of rubbish just left around. Would I stay again, Yes, the overall experience was Very Good so please tidy up the place and sell an really good facility better

This property is right on the beach, amazing break fast, and you get to have in looking out in the beach. The was huge and a huge bed. Lot of sapce and a large bathroom. Power out out for Euro zone, UK, North America, and the caribbean is availale. You choose to use the pool which is beach side or you walk a few feet in to beach itself. Excellet properity and location is even greater. Wonderful and friendly and accomadating helpful staff.

It’s fairly private and quiet besides when they herd people from the cruise ships thru the property n to the beach.I’ve stayed here a 4th time recently and have seen the steady decline, especially since Covid. We had a fabulous stay, the hotel was clean & safe with a beautiful beach steps from our ocean view room.
THE PROS: This beautiful beach is on a small bay that feels very exclusive with plenty of beach loungers chairs, trees for shade & 2 beachfront bars. This is an idea place for couples, seniors or families. Our room had a lovely oceanfront balcony, a fridge and two four poster beds. The ac and hot water worked perfectly. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
THE CONS: the hotel is somewhat old, and could use some updated decor. It’s also not in walking distance of any restaurants or grocery stores, the beautiful exclusive location means you will need a rental car or taxi. The food was mediocre at best, and the servers are slow and absent minded. Our stay included breakfast, and they never got it right once..I have a feeling the cook didn’t start until later in the day and the servers tried their best to cook it themselves. Also a bus load of passengers from the cruise ship are dropped off at this beach daily, it won’t affect your pleasure, they only stay 2-3 hours and go back to their ship.
All in all I would absolutely return to this hotel, it does need some work yes, but the location is amazing! If you want an exclusive feeling, and truly tropic Caribbean experience & if you’d like to get away from the busy main strip that feels like pretentious Miami than this is the place for you!

My whole experience was horrible . My last 3 days they had no running water. I called the front desk with my personal phone, they told me water should be on in 5 mins it never came on. There was constant drilling and pounding on the roof every day. The pool had bugs in it. They never once changed my sheets in the 9 days I stayed there. Only gave me 2 clean towels, no clean rags . The phone in the room didn’t work either. I would never stay there again or recommend that anyone does.

The property was run down and needs lots of improvements, updates and/or ground keeping. It was scary just getting there. The road had over grown grass and weeds. It looked abandoned. The shower head barely had a drip. This owner has to put some money into the property. Do not recommend this property.

The people were very friendly! The grounds are full of vibrant Caribbean flowers and bushes. The food was okay- sometimes fried foods over cooked. Drinks were good. Pool clean and very nice. Swim up bar was a nice add in. The beach is beautiful. This hotel is right on a bay that is great for snorkeling and swimming. Live music in bars and restaurants in the area. A 5 minute trip to the grocery store. Room had refrigerator but needs a microwave.

To compound the matter, for the last two days the TV was useless. I could not look at any live programmes and felt cheated for the $2000 US I paid.

Staff generally seemed resentful I was there. Service seemed to be testing me... In cuttingly aggressive FU postures.
In fairness, a few people engaged in a welcoming and gracious way.
The bar plays music so loud you will be part of that.
Moments of unexpected delight also materialize here. I was seated on the beach to experience the magic as the surf nibbled at the chair

It was a very unfriendly environment for children; only one discolored and dirty looking high chair was available and no cutlery suitable for use by children. The back view of the property was in disrepair and looked like a junky. Service in the restaurant was slow and staff were not professionally dressed or seemed energetic. My trip to Grenada was for an organized swim, a 10km. Though there was a \"race hotel\" with special rates available to me, I opted for a smaller (27+-rooms), more personal hotel, the Kalinago. The Kalinago is located in a cove less than a mile from town. The views, the cove, the hills that surround it, and the wonderfully thoughtful and gregarious employees made my stay an all time favorite.

I traveled alone and was far enough away from the race hotel that there were no other swimmers to befriend. The staff at the Kalinago filled the void. They listened to my stories of my river swims: Danube, Tennessee, Ohio with interest, educated me on \"the best places\" for a vegetarian to eat, and even searched out coupons for discounts. If my high maintenance requests or my never-ending questions irritated them, they never showed it.

The secluded cove offered a quiet, comfortable beach and a gorgeous place to swim without the fear of boat traffic...or sharks! The water was clear enough to watch the sponges, starfish, and other aquatic life as I swam. Since it was a smaller, secluded hotel, I was able to meet and converse with the locals who came to the cove for rest and relaxation.

In the afternoons and early evenings, Kalinago's beachside bar was the meeting place for locals and hotel guests. We told stories of our travels
and shared in laughter.

It is my desire to go back next year to do the 2nd annual 10km swim and will once again stay (longer) at the Kalinago.

Really enjoyed my stay at Kalinago. Very comfortable room and staff very pleasant and willing to assist. My only concern and this is something that Management has to correct - maybe with a check list before guest arrives. Rooms need to be individually checked for problems like fridge not working, remotes for television and air conditioning not working, light bulbs to be changed. Guests should not walk into the room with those problems there. However things were corrected immediately and I will stay there again. Lovely location on a quiet beach. A great getaway.

The hotel is a long walk up a hill or two from the main road where you can get public transportation. A taxi was about $16 US. The rooms are old and tired looking. The decor looked like the 1970's and the King bed was more like a Queen bed. The dampness made the drawers and doors stick. Only 1 key per room even when 2 guests. They advertised cable, but only a few channels worked. The staff was very friendly, and helpful. No elevator so you will may need to take the suitcases up 2 or 3 floors. The view from the room was nice, but the view in the picture is a little misleading.

The proximity to the beach was fantastic, the room was clean and spacious.
The biggest problem was the restaurant , at breakfast the flies were overwhelming and the orders took a while to get to the table. Some of the servers need to engage more with the guest.

Location: hard to find the entrance, but when you do you'll be pleasantly surprised by the beach front property. Clean premises.
Unfortunately this facility is NOT disability friendly. Restaurant is located up stairs, no elevator/lift. So we had to order our meal to go and eat downstairs at the reception area with my disabled mom. Hotel staff saw the situation and comp the fee for room service seeing it's a facility issue. Which was a really nice gesture.
Beach: perfect, no waves, 2 restaurants located further down. Only issue, lots of tour groups use the facility so you have to wake up early to get a beach chair which is silly. There should be designated guest chairs.
Nice pool. Hotel taxi outside will to take you around.
Good hotel experience, will recommend if you don't have any disability issues.

We had the most amazing time at Kalinago. The entire staff was so attentive to our needs and their service was prompt and always with a smile. The front desk was helpful in suggesting places to visit and activities during our stay. On select nights there is always something happening at the bar. The Baywatch Bar B Que was delicious! Best I’ve tasted on our entire trip.

Pros - this hotel has old world furniture and finishes which blends nicely into the peace and seclusion and ocean view rooms. The beach is just footsteps away. Most staff are friendly and super helpful (shout out to the guy at the bar, Shena at the front desk and Deslynn at the restaurant). The food is excellent at the restaurant and room service is prompt...if there was going to be a delay or they did not have an item ordered, they called and advised which I appreciated.
Cons - the drawback for peace and quiet is taxis are not readily available because you are off the beaten path. The front desk will call a taxi for you or you can arrange your own. I used Best Deal Taxi Grenada, the driver's name is Rondell and he was excellent for tours and other trips I took (+1 (473) 417-5854)...they are on facebook.
I do not eat pork and when Deslynn was off shift a mistake was made in my order even though I reconfirmed with the wait staff that chicken susages was on my plate, which they confirmed, however it turned out to be pork (I knew as soon as I tasted it) when I complained I got a half ass apology and they changed it, however I was most upset as I felt the staff did not understand people's dietary requirement based on illness or religion or even life choices.
Meals are made to order so expect a long wait .
As I was leaving at 3:30am, I made arrangements with the front desk to have security help me with my luggage but they never showed up ( 3rd floor and no elevator).

Location couldn’t be better... on my favorite beach in Grenada ! Modest but very comfortable hotel. Slept like a baby in comfy bed. Will definitely stay here again.
Car rental essential to explore Grenada and get to restaurants ( and decent coffee for coffee lovers).
We rented a car from Y&R car rental .. very pleased

The location is perfect and the facilities, including the rooms are great if you an unfussy type.
The service is typically Caribbean and best advised to just go with the flow rather than let it get to you. You're on holiday so there is no rush.
Hotel staff are always on hand to help. Although a little bit of a shame they never replied to a couple of earlier email requests to room upgrades prior to arrival, where we were willing to pay extra.

Great Property. Right on the beach. The beach is absolutely amazing. Beautiful. Do yourself a favor and check at La Plywood bar at the far end of the beach. Our favorite restarutant/bar in Grenada. Just a chill spot to have fish tacos and local beer. The hotel pool & bar are nice to look at, but you'll find yourself not using them much. Pool water is cold. Ocean is warm. It looks like the pool has a hot tub, but it's just a shallow area of the pool. Pool also closes at 6pm. Service at the bar is hit and miss. The strangest experience was on our last night, Friday night. We wanted to sit down at the pool bar for a night cap & to listen to the ocean. To our surprise, there was a large speaker on the counter of the bar, and music blasting. Two girls were sitting at the end of the bar, who may have been employees. The music was blasting. There were no other customers and the bar except me and my girlfriend. Then one of the women started singing karaoke! Wow. It was really really bad. We found out that she is friends with the manager. The chill bar doesn't need the music. It really doesn't need the karaoke. Overall, a great hotel to stay at. The front desk was very helpful. Saturday bbq dinner on the beach felt very special. Grenada is a beauty.

The beach was wonderful. The service in the restaurant was very slow - Island time - but 1 hour 15 minutes for a continental breakfast is too extreme. Many mornings no coffee available, no orange juice frequently and the dinner service was very limited. I had to go to an adjacent restaurant every night for a more extensive local menu.

Pros - located right on the beach with pool and bar. The rooms are spacious and overlook the ocean.

Cons - Service is a bit lacking. When we checked in, they couldn't find our reservation and gave us the wrong room. We were able to switch rooms but they thought we were stealing breakfast the next day when they didn't update us to the correct room in the computer. Speaking of breakfast; don't bother. It takes over an hour to get a runny omelette. I would recommend going to the store and picking up breakfast items instead. As for the rooms, they were slightly outdated and the drawers on the dresser wouldn't close but we were comfortable enough. The location was on the beach but far from town and taxis were sometimes hard to get at the hotel.

Overall thoughts - I would recommend this hotel if you want to be right on the beach and want to spend most of your time at the hotel or have a car to get around. If this isn't the case, I would choose something else.

Idyllic location. Arrived late and although the reservation was updated days prior with the approximate time of arrival, they at first could not find the reservation then we walked to four rooms before we got one (this at 11:15pm). I liked the size of the room. Perhaps it is time for the owner to update furniture (drawers not closing) and particularly linen (including bedspreads). So after the initial dissatisfactory experience, I totally enjoyed the semi-secluded location. So I can see myself returning but they should reduce price until updates to property.

A charming hotel in an excellent location on one of the best breaches on the island. The rooms are “old world” in furnishing style but of expensive design. One needs to be patient for service so be on island time. Staff are charming and delightful. Small irritation that no plugs are evident in the bath or wash hand basin.

Visiting our son in Grenadas St. George's university student in Medical school The resort located in beautiful beach. Our room was nice and quite ocean view.Turning the tv on that remind me of 20 years before visiting Cuba's resort available 7 or 8 channels only .Our bed was so uncomfortable and small.Stay in this hotel only 3 nights and pay Can. $800.00 They don't offering not even breakfast including price.No stores around walking distance you need to pay $20 us to go for breakfast for the taxi and $20 to come back.members of our family going back to Grenada visiting our son but next time we will stay to another hotel.

Excellent location, very helpful management especially when my partner had a fall. They got us quickly to the hospital where he had ten stitches in his head, plus waited to take us back to hotel. That was the only downside to the stay, the steps outside the rooms are so small you aren’t aware of them very easily although there is a sign, I think it’s placed to high and the step needs highlighting a bit more. But saying this the hotel management did everything they could for us and more

The staff was outstanding and I left a full page in their comment book stating exactly that. The beach (BBC is what they called it) that the property is on might be the finest on all of Grenada!!! Very reasonably priced and the Manager is fantastic!! My only suggestion was that they should consider having Name Badges to assist in addressing them properly.....especially with the various accents we the guests bring.

The beach and ocean view where spectacular, but there where no umbrellas on the beach or pool. Over the property,there where lots of 3” raised sidewalks to trip on. I was happy that I had covered toed sandals, but by the end of the vacation, I had ripped the top off one of my toes. We saw a guest trip on the sidewalk and needed to be taken to the hospital. Some of the menu was good and some very poor. The food and cab rides where very overpriced because it’s a Island and we had no other choices. The bed was good and the shower OK. If you go, use the public transport. We always feel safe.

Beautiful secluded location. The staff was very helpful and friendly. There was no gift shop to purchase sunscreen and the front desk staff sent someone out to get me some. Very accommodating. Was not impressed with the food or the cleanliness of the pool. Would return again.
