Beautiful and peaceful location. Perfect for a weekend gateway for two any time of the year or for a long summer family vacation.

The accommodation was just as promised and actually surpassed our expectations. Very roomy and lots of facilities available for use.

Loved walking around the property and exploring the cave and lake.

Such a lovely, peaceful place to stay. Loved the nature trails nearby, the beach at Hurlbert Park. It’s located a picturesque 20-25 minutes away from Vernon but convenient to all amenities. We will for sure be coming back!

Really loved the location was beautiful and lots of walks. The condo was comfortable and welcoming. Our condo had dirty dishes, eggs still on pans and almost every plate was chipped. I believe they make the guests clean the dishes the housekeeping doesnt do it, because the cups and plates were not properly cleaned. There was also only 2 towels in the bathroom and no laundry detergent. Lastly, there were few tv channels that worked, to use shaw on demand you needed a code to rent movies which we were not given, would have been nice to be able to use the tv and be charged for the movies but was not possible.

We are from Calgary and arrived Outback Vacation Homes late. With the clear direction and guides emailed to us before our arrival we had no problem to enter our unit when the office was closed. We did the check-in at the office the next morning. Our 3 bedroom condo has 3 bathrooms is perfect for 6 people stay. The place is clean, comfortable and well equipped with a washer, dryer, gourmet kitchen & a BBQ grill. We will come back for getaways.

Nice location, cabin was not to expectations.

They have nice amenities but the cabin was dirty. When we got we found three dead Bugs and had to sweep all the floors and balcony off. Lots of other little things also didn't meet expectations. Wouldn't go back again.

Breathtaking Grounds, lovely resort.

We had an excellent stay at the Outback Resort. The weather was not on our side however there were still a lot of enjoyable things to do here. There is a large playground that is really quite beautiful in the forest setting and many hot tubs to relax in while it rained. When we did have some sunshine breaks the kids enjoyed the beach and pools. There are some gorgeous hikes around the property and the granite tunnel and glass elevator were lots of fun. Overall we had a great stay at this resort. My only complaint would be the resort fee we were charged daily that we were not informed about upon checkin. It was $15.00 per day and was a surprise on my credit card.

Good value for the facility.

We were there on the first weekend of June so it was really quiet and we had most of the resort to ourselves. Our 3 bedroom condo was at the back of the resort and it was wonderful to hear the frogs and birds at Trout Lake. We appreciated having access to tennis rackets and a bbq.

We stayed in unit 25. The AC was not working properly so horribly hot in unit. Parties kept us awak til after 3am - very very noisy. Serious trek to pool/beach where the heater for pool & hot tub was broken. Deck nothing like pictures, very small with no shade as canopy removed for maintenance. Very pricey with mediocre amenities & tons of uncut, weedy grass everywhere. Bed was hard, pillows uncomfy.

Beautiful vacation home 15 minutes from downtown

It's a beautiful drive to the lakeside homes. The place was immaculate. Exactly what one needs for a beach vacation. The couple who takes care of the area are wonderful. The place to take out your garbage was a wee bit hard to find. The lighting at night was not great. Bring a flashlight. The area is quiet and lovely to stroll around in daylight tho. We loved the place overall and plan to come back :)

Great country setting

Stayed for three nights, great for the person who already lives in the country or enjoys a private setting. There is no restaurant there, but I preferred to cook my own suppers on the BBQ and go to town for lunch. Staff was very friendly, as were the other stayers. Hiking close by. Staff is only there 8-5, so I just planned on being there before 5pm.

Great place for a girls trip

Great stay, nice and spacious, clean, modern and in a beautiful spot. It's good to note that it js right on the lake, but far from downtown so you would definitely need a car. Would recommend!

great family getaway

Trout Lake units, upper level (units are 4plex, 2 up, 2 down) were very comfortable with spacious balconies perfect for morning reading, family dinners. Well equipped for cooking and BBQ. Pool was great for playing with grandkids. Didn't use the beach (not great) but didn't miss it. Went to beach in Vernon for a nice outing. Both families visited and enjoyed Kangaroo farm - and of course wineries always worth a visit. We thought it was a great facility, nicely located, appears to be well run. Booked for next year!

A Beautiful Weekend at The Outback

This is not a hotel ,these our beautiful condo homes that are rented out, THey are a home away from home fully equipped with kitchen ,washer dryer,32\"plasma TV internet .They are in a beautiful setting on Okanagan Lake,with pools ,hot tubs, tennis courts ,a beach and so much more.

Beware of timeshare rentals

The resort is comprised of approximately 40 units that the owners have the ability to place into a rental pool. The units on site vary from spectacular multi million dollar architectural masterpieces with views of the lake to newer semi detached and detached units.

I booked a two bedroom unit based on the strength of the customer reviews and photos of the property.
We stayed in forest cabin 1. From this unit it is a ten minute walk to the waterfront, and ten minute walk to the pool overlooking the lake. I don't think I would have been able to know this based on the website.

The unit was clean, and well appointed with all necessary appliances and utensils. I do see that maintenance will become an issue, as the unit is starting to show signs of its age.

The rate we paid was overpriced. The amenities are weak. We had no view of the lake from the unit we rented, And the \"beach\" is nothing to brag about. The exercise facility is lame, tiny.

The website for the resort is misleading bordering on unethical. I do not believe that the spectacular resorts with lake views are in the rental pool, but they are prominent in the website. The resort has a high rating on sites like this, however be wary- the reviews and ratings could be written by owners promoting the resort.

To the owner of this unit: we paid 300 bucks per night for your unit. It would be nice if the BBQ was better then the$ 100 piece of junk that is provided.

The Forest cabin is nice. Our A/C was not working after the first night but was quickly fixed. The BBQ was left with a mount of debris that looked like it was never cleaned in years and the igniter was broken. so they brought over another BBQ the had a working igniter but the grill was all rusted. Ended up using the first BBQ and lighting it with a lighter. Only a few things of concern or could be better were; 1) the carpet could be cleaner, there were dead bugs and what appeared to be some sort of liquid stain, could be pet stain, 2) shower handle was loose and fell in the main bathroom and the door doesn't close properly, 3) more supplies paper towels, garbage bags, dishwasher tablets, liquid dish soap and laundry detergent would be nice 4), the knives were dull, good thing we brought one of our own 5) there was a strange smell from pillow cases and sheets so we washed them before we slept.

the upstairs bathroom has not shower, but the main floor bathroom only has a shower. The detached bedroom had both but lots of dead bugs on the floor, under the bed, behind the headboard.

we didn't let the above short comings ruin our stay. overall its a nice place for families with children and for ppl who just want to get away and relax.

We had rented a lake townhouse but upon arrival the AC was not working. We were therefore upgraded to the only available unit which was a ridge house. The house itself is spectacular, with great views of the lake. However the outfitting and cleanliness of the house left much to be desired. We found numerous dead bugs, and litter on the floors, and the shower floors covered in dirt and sand. The unit also had very basic kitchen wares, and only had Wired internet, remotes for the TV didn't work, broken coffee maker, etc, etc.. If I had rented this unit alone I would have been massively disappointed, but for the upgrade it was very nice. That said the major issue with this place is maintenance, (ie broken equipment in the gym area) and cleanliness, see previous note on first units broken AC. The facility is nice with the pools and lake access, but it is very steep hill terrain which is tough to walk with small kids, and hence we had to drive to other areas of the complex. I would maybe stay again, but not for the $300 a night we paid, due to lack of amenities on site and maintenance of the units.

It was relaxing and very quiet where the resort is located. If you need to get away from the hustle and bustle of a big city then this is it! The place was fully equipped with kitchen ware and laundry needs that was convenient.

Quiet place to be, but more supervision is needed.

All facilities are in excellent conditions, that is a fact. It's a very nice place to be, however more supervision is needed at the pools, because they are small and some people simply don't respect the rules. Actually, we were caught in the middle of a water fight and some guests were smoking not necessarily regular cigarettes in the pool (pot), and one parent had to ask them to leave the pool and go away. Simply, there is no one available to submit a complain at night.

Well, it was a nice trip i have to mention. Everything in the room is outstanding. We didn't know the resort offer fried pan, pot and etc. The room is quite clean and beautiful. However, there are couple things that we are really disppointed at such as the WiFi, Spa, Lights. At the day we arrived, we spend around 15mins to find where the house is because the resort doesn't offer light and direction well. When we finally arrived the room, we didn't find router in the room, so we have to use PC to share hot spot. Plus the Spa was closed.

Outback is more vacation property that a resort

We had a great time and the property is beautiful. Great for families and friends. We thought it was a resort with restaurants and housekeeping but no such luck. The receptionist is only the Monday to Friday and 9-5 and we arrived late. The website made it look like a hotel. We still had a great time because of the surroundings. It's not close to any shops or grocery so you have to bring everything with you otherwise it's 20 minutes to breakfast.

Peaceful resort

We rented a Trout Lake cabin with three bedrooms, a few hundred meters from the beach. The cabin had all necessary amenities and was surprisingly spacious. We never felt we were too far away from the lake. The resort is beautiful and well kept. The staff is very friendly and supportive. The only weaker points are the absence of a snack bar facility (there is not even a vending machine with cool drinks), the minimalist approach to the fitness facility (one elliptical machine and one running machine), and the fact that one cannot rent any equipment such as kayaks or bikes. This means that if you do not bring your own equipment or do not have friends/owners willing to lend you their equipment, the range of activities you can do at the resort beyond hiking and swimming are very limited. The nice provincial park with beautiful beaches next door is a bonus.

Quiet Getaway

Our stay at Outback Resort was generally good. The place is nice and clean and we had enough space for the 6 of us. There were just a few details we were expecting that were lacking, although our trip was too short to make us bother to call the hotel staff for. The internet at our cabin was hardwired, not wireless, yet we couldn't connect to it. Also, extras like extra pillows and towels were not provided in the cabin (we had 1 pillow and 1 towel for each person). But, like I said, we were there for too short a time to make it a problem. Overall, though, we found Outback to be a beautiful place for a quiet getaway for families.

GREAT PROPERTY BUT NO AMENITIES

Great accomodations - Spacious, fully equipped kitchen, bedrooms, dining and living areas, in addition to beautiful outdoor surroundings.

However, there are absolutely no services either offered or available nearby. If you want to go out to a restaurant, it's a 20 min drive to downtown Vernon. If you want to go to the grocery store, it's a 20 min drive. If you want to rent a Kayak, a motor boat, a bicycle or even a life jacket, there are none offered by the resort.

Most of the occupants are owners (not guests/renters) and they bring their own equiment. You can moor your boat there for a fee but there is no place to rent a boat. If you plan on enjoying the beautiful lake, make sure you are prepared to bring EVERYTHING. If you plan on eating, the kitchen is large but again, be prepared to bring EVERYTHING (food, salt, pepper) or visit the supermarket prior to getting there.

It was beautiful inside. My whole family was very impressed...Unfortunetly when we went the pools were not running...However we still enjoyed our stay. We only wish we could have stayed longer. We will definetly return to the Outback for our next trip to Vernon! We have, will and do recommend the Outback Resort!!!!
