Fell somewhat short of our expectations. Beware that a/c may not be available depending on the time of the year -- as the whole building as to either be on a/c or heat and individual rooms cannot be on different heat/cool settings. The shower pressure was quite low and, in general, upkeep and cleanliness was not as high as it should have been given the newness of the property and its pricing. Staff, however, were very friendly and helpful.

It's a lovely hotel in a great location but they miss out on a few details. The rooms are large, stylish and modern and it is just a short walk to the historic port with great restaurants.
Examples of what lets it down are small details like the posters in the lift are stuck on with peeling tape, the paving outside is uneven. There's no desk in the room and only one seat. Breakfast has a limited selection and you can order a cooked meal but it's basic.
Parking is free but a limited number of spaces.
It's a great hotel, but could be even better.

Our experience at Sansal Boutique Hotel was absolutely incredible from start to finish. The team supported us even before we arrived and continued to go above and beyond throughout our entire stay.

The staff were truly out of this world; a special thank you to Alexia and Renata! Their energy, attentiveness, and genuine care were 5-star in every way. The reception team were always so helpful, assisting us with restaurant recommendations and arranging our laundry seamlessly. On the morning of our departure, they kindly prepared breakfast for us, which was such a thoughtful touch.

A huge thank you to Renata for surprising us with an upgraded room with a beautiful ocean view — waking up to that view each day was simply amazing and made our stay even more special.

I also have to mention the fantastic breakfast team. They freshly prepare your eggs exactly to your preference, and the quality and variety of options available each morning were excellent.

Everything about the hotel was amazing, and I can’t forget the wonderful housekeeping team who kept everything spotless. I could go on all day!

We will definitely be returning. I consider myself a local now haha.

SanSal was in the perfect location close to Old Town Chania, the light house and nice restaurants. The Sea view area was worth the money with the breakfast being an additional bonus. The staff ate all wonderful and they will make you cappuccinos and eggs cooked how you would like them. The ham and cheese omelet was superb! Alexa at the front desk was a gem in providing us a detailed map of the perfect suggestions to do in Crete from hikes to exploring caves and beaches! We loved it here so much that throughout our travels of Crete that we stayed 3 nights.

The breakfast buffet had high quality options. Smoked fresh pork, eggs served as preferred, many freshly made pastries, spinach or mushroom pies, several types of yogurts, many selections of cheeses, espresso or cappuccinos, freshly made breads, fruits, homemade pies, brownies, salad, cereals, teas, nuts, nut butters and more!
The staff are so friendly and helpful. When I arrived my wallet had been stolen. The front desk was immensely helpful and supportive. The ocean view was magnificent! Sliding glass doors. Spacious room. Lovely large balcony with table and chair. Good shower. Large closet and storage area. Good maid service. Very clean.

This hotel is absolutely fantastic. I was happy with every aspect. The room was spacious with plenty of closet space a a huge balcony with gorgeous sea views. There were plenty of convenient touches - a full length mirror, a drying rack on balcony for bathing suits, and plenty of counter space in the bathroom.
I looked forward to breakfast every morning - there was a variety of foods, fresh fruits, pastries - the food was fresh and delicious.
The staff are outstanding - they were warm, welcoming and very attentive.
The hotel looks fairly new so all furniture and decor were in excellent condition. Nothing looked shabby or stained.
The location is perfect - it is quiet and only a short and scenic 5-7 minute walk to Old Town restaurants, shops and bars.
This is a wonderful hotel, and I highly recommend!

The breakfast was fabulous w varied foods, staff attentive to prepare egg dishes as requested or bring a sophisticated gourmet coffee to your table fresh fruits, local cheeses, meats & Cretan soecialities everything you could want plus the most fabulous staff, friendly courteous & helpful in every way. The rooms were perfectly clean w ebery attention to detail & we used all amenities. The rooftop pool bar & food prepared was also to perfection & cheerfully delivered w fantastic views of the ocean & old city! The climate control perfectly efficient & quiet for our comfort; plus a quality large sliding door to breezy private balcony gave us the option for fresh air, listening to the ocean waves so relaxing plus drying clothes on the provided rack.
The bathroom had a huge vanity which was & a large modern shower, so convenient when getting ready. The location was perfect access to points of interest & staff went out of their way to help with parking…our car was always within view & accessible. This is 100% satisfaction which i’ve never encountered. Upon return to Crete we wont stay anywhere else but SanSal in Chania! I love SanSal staff Renata Sotiris Kostas Zoe Haris et al 💜

Really great new hotel! We had an executive suite with a large balcony overlooking the sea. The hotel is just at the edge of old town and the beach strip. Perfect! Away from the scrum but a 6 minute walk to get to the heart of old town or the beach and its restaurants. Parking provided at no charge. Breakfast was very nice. Local favorites! Fresh food. Alexia at reception really made our stay special! Wonderful warm greetings. Great advice on local spots. She really made the difference between good and EXCELLENT!

If you’re planning a stay in Chania and seeking an elevated hotel experience, this is the place. The location is excellent—close to the harbor and old town—while the staff, including Haris at the front desk, Kostas at the rooftop pool bar, and Apostolis in the breakfast area, went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We had a fantastic stay at SanSal Chania. The staff were super friendly, welcoming and really helpful. We had some lovely meals out thanks to their recommendations. Our room was immaculate and we had bottled water in our fridge daily. Great coffee pods were supplied for our in- room machine. The room came with a hairdryer and an ironing board. Our bathroom was spacious and came with really nice, locally sourced complimentary shower gels, soap and moisturisers. The bed was spacious, very comfortable and the only time we heard noise from outside was on one morning as there was construction locally. We even received an evening turn down service which we were not expecting and this was lovely to come back to after a day of exploring- fresh towels were supplied if necessary and the room had received a general tidy up. This hotel is 10 minute walk (if that) into Old Town Chania. There is plenty of parking available if you hire a car. We received a free bottle of wine with our stay which was great as we actually stayed over my birthday. The infinity pool on the roof was 10/10, providing great views. The pool was very clean and we did not have difficulty finding a lounger. The bar on the rooftop was also great with reasonably priced cocktails and great food. Breakfast was also delightful- some of the best scrambled eggs I’ve had abroad and the selection of local foods on offer at the buffet was fantastic. Overall I could not fault this hotel and would 100% stay again. Thank you!!

We couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming team for our engagement holiday. From the moment we booked the holiday the whole experience was brilliant, we were truly treat like family. This is one of the nicer hotels in Chania. The included breakfast buffet was wonderful— plentiful and with many options. The staff were all friendly and nice. There is a rooftop pool and lounge chairs with a bar that had amazing views and was a great amenity we enjoyed, especially for watching the sunset over a drink. The beds were comfortable.
The downside for us was that it was not quiet, with noise heard from the hallways and adjacent rooms and the street, requiring ear plugs. Also, one of our 2 sinks in the bathroom was non-functioning due to a leak, and the shower was unusable due to it smelling like sewage. Thankfully there was a separate bathtub to use, but less convenient.

Our stay at Sansal Hotel was mostly fantastic. The location is perfect, just a short walk to the old harbor, with the best views of the ocean and sunset anywhere in the city. The staff was totally fantastic and very helpful with everything.

The only thing that was a bit gross was the sink in our room. We booked a suite on the top floor, and the sink had been repaired in a makeshift way with a ton of caulk to waterproof the edges and corners. There was black mold growing all over it. Not just in one small area but really along every area. That’s not only gross but really not healthy, and certainly not appropriate for any room in a hotel like this. They should really take care of this problem before renting the room to anyone else.

The location right beside the harbour was incredible. Easy walk to the lighthouse and Resturant’s. Rooms are beautiful and very new. Bed are comfortable and staff was very helpful. The breakfast was amazing. The pools were very nice. And the view from the rooftop at sunset was magical. Would definitely recommend staying here for all these reasons.

Only thing I would change, putting in a fridge that is actually cold and the glass in the bathroom made privacy a little interesting sometimes. Plus the room with the pool, the balcony was always flooded and wet.

Regardless of this, would stay again and loved everyday we were there.

We so enjoyed our stay at SanSal. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay special for our anniversary. They left nice notes and a bottle of wine in our room. We played cards at night with friends in the common room and when they needed to close up they suggested that we move to the business center if we wanted to play longer. We were arranging an early morning check out to catch our flight and they offered to have a carry out breakfast ready for us at 6am. Everyone there was so friendly and it truly made the stay special. Add to that the nice rooms and beautiful view, and this is a wonderful hotel that we will gladly book on our next trip to Crete.

We reserved a upgraded room with a private pool on the balcony. The pool was unusable. The pool was not clean, leaking, and has many dead flies.

When we arrived the staff were so great and very helpful, they were also very friendly and gave good recommendations where to visit and where to eat. We will be staying here when we come back!

My room had a beautiful view of the Ocean and the light house. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The Venetian harbor is at a short walking distance but the hotel is in a quiet area. Breakfast was one of the best of our trip. Overall and excellent hotel

The hotel is currently adjacent to a noisy, busy construction site. We should have been warned of this before booking and whilst we were allocated another room when we complained, the windows in the new room had not been fitted properly and were therefore not sound proof.
We were therefore bothered by noise throughout our stay.

The rooftop infinity pool on the roof was also very disappointing compared to how it was depicted. It was far too small to be of use.

It was a shame the situation with the noise was badly managed as most of the staff were very helpful and friendly, the buffet breakfast was lovely and our cleaning lady was excellent.

All the staff was very helpful. When we checked in on Saturday the reception gave us great restaurant recommendations. We used most for our 7 day stay. We also rented a car for a few days and they arranged for pick up and drop off at the hotel. Breakfast was great. The location was walking distance to beaches, shops and restaurants. Great place to spend my birthday. View from our room of the sea was everything I wished it would be.

We had the most wonderful stay here. It is in a perfect location, mere steps from the old town. The room was very spacious and clean. We had a room with the private pool and were unsure how much we would use it given our visit in October. We ended up thoroughly enjoying the pool daily and it was heated to a perfect temperature. The outdoor patio space was lovely as well.
The rooftop facilities were beautiful and it was very convenient to have parking at the hotel. We enjoyed the array of options for breakfast and they were kind to make us a breakfast to go on our last day when we had a very early checkout. The staff was wonderful, especially Renata who checked us in and provided excellent dining recommendations in the area and the breakfast crew who made a great cappuccino. Overall we loved our stay here, would recommend it to anyone and look forward to returning. Was one of the nicest hotels we’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting. Great job to the whole team at SanSal.

Romantic trip

A relaxing stay with an amazing location. A quick walk to the local beach and a very convenient walk to the Old Venetian Harbor. We loved the surrounding area. Anna-Maria was spot on in all of her recommendations, which we received upon arrival and she made notes on a local map which we referred to regularly. We had a beautiful room with private pool and terrace. Everything was fabulous.

What a great place to stay. We stayed in one of the corner rooms on the 4th floor for 5 days. This hotel felt very luxurious, but what made it really special was the staff. They were so warm and kind, especially Kostas and another female server (not sure her name but curly hair and blue eyeliner). The views were incredible and our room was also so clean. The area was ideal as your between the old town and nea Chora. We also really appreciated the parking. Would definitely stay again
