This is one of the best properties I have ever stayed at in my entire life and I will remember it always. It is extremely unique with beautiful decor, unique fixtures, and a wonderful staff.

We stayed on the top floor and had two balconies and a rooftop terrace. Each provided a unique and beautiful view of old Chania.

I looked forward to the delicious and varied breakfast every day that was made with such care.

If I didn’t have a life to go back to and had all the money in the world to stay, I would have!

We stayed in the Luxury City View Room. A uniquely quirky property located ideally nearby the Old Venetian Harbour. The staff were friendly and helpful and the apartment was always clean. The balcony gives a great view of Chania’s picturesque streets and the air conditioning was powerful enough that the room actually became rather cold when left on, providing a nice change from the scorching Cretan heat outside. There is a bar located nearby that can cause some noice pollution at night but no more than can be expected from a city location and did not cause any disruption to sleep. Though not a problem for us, getting to the apartment does require climb a set of steep and narrow spiral staircases. Overall the apartment was beautiful, the view was nice and the location excellent and would be highly recommended.

Misleading pictures on website. Parking was misleading; the ad said free nearby which was actually the public street parking which was constantly crowded and unavailable. The room was a four story accomodation. A small circular unsteady staircase made it very challenging to get any luggage to the upstair rooms. Recommended for highly athletic and flexible individuals only to challenge this staircase. Top level was hot and the AC was very very loud for the first day and mysteriously corrected itself. Nevertheless, it was nicely located in the old town.

The best part of this property is the location, the area is charming. We enjoyed walking around. the narrow streets. The thing I wasn't aware of until we got there was that there was a flight of 50 stairs winding up to the top floor.We could not take luggage thank God we rented a car so we had to take our clothes up in bags.

This was exactly what it said on the tin; quirky but luxurious, a funny but successful blend of traditional/antique looks and modern comforts. For 70 Euro I got a queen size, a tub with whirlpool AND a separate shower with heated towel bar, a mini-fridge and a bottle of raki. The only possible quibble I could make is this is actually multiple properties spread around the neighborhood all under the "Ifigenia" banner. But I have no reason not to assume that all do not deliver the same experience.

Really cute and quirky room with a little balcony overlooking the street and super close to the waterfront and lots of restaurants in the vicinity. Because it's an old house it's a bit creaky but bags of character outweigh this. Lovely friendly staff

We love the hotels charm. The room we got was a little small, but very cute. The location was perfect - in the middle of old town and just a couple of blocks from the harbor. We had to ask for coffee, not super accommodating or helpful. They do have WiFi but no breakfast.

Very relaxed and comfortable, local atmosphere!

As I travel a lot and spend more than 120 nights in hotels a year, I grew to value comfort and service wherever I go. Staying in Ifigenia suites was, in a nutshell, fantastic. Ample space, local atmosphere and very nice and helpful staff.
I need to point out few things to give you better understanding of what to expect - this is literally centuries old house as is entire neighborhood. 500years and much more. Therefore, it is impossible to make rooms in style of modern chic boutique hotels. BUT! That is the point! Rooms are made to make you feel exactly right in time and location! Stone walls and seemingly simple and imperfect wall paint, there is feel of patina and murmurs of life from the street! Not the bad kind, but the one that make you feel not as a tourist but as you are at home there... And you suddenly start relaxing... Priceless!
Many thanks to very kind and helpful staff who did all to make our stay pleasant. Looking forward to stay there again!

There was a mix up and initially we were in a much smaller/more basic room than expected/booked but after two days we were moved into the suite we were expecting - which was beautiful and very well located in the heart of the Old Town

Ifiginia is in an excellent location in the old Venetian harbor and the rooms are huge. You get a lot for your money. However, the rooms are old. The windows don’t close properly and we found cockroaches throughout the stay. It’s also noisy due to poor insulation. The room smelled moldy and the shower curtain had mold growing on the bottom. The room was also not level, which is not unusual for such an old building. But it caused the bed to be sloped, which was not good on my back. The room was great for the price and location, just don’t expect it to be shiney and new like in the pictures. Also, you will have to drag your own bag through the streets of old chania to get to the hotel. There isn’t a good way to drive up to the hotel.

Awesome Quirky Little Place!!!

Enjoyed this little traditional hotel in the center of the old town so much want to return in June with my kids (adult)!
I arrived on a late flight from Athens after traveling straight thru from Cali, starving, and was concerned about the front desk waiting for me, however, no problem! George walked down to the "square" and met me at my taxi! When, I told him that I was "starving" as we passed a restaurant which was already closed he asked them to serve me and they did! Best darn restaurant I ate at in Chania :)
The following morning their, apparent, sister property (Ifigenia) arranged a rental car for me to drive to see the exquisite Elafonisi beach.
The property as George described it to me is 400-500 years old and one needs to keep this is mind with all that entails! Also, the noise from night clubs across the bay could disturb some who are looking for quiet luxury! This would NOT be your kinda place!
However, if you are looking for a very cool "traditional" experience and a fabulous deck/view within the absolute heart of the old village with super friendly, helpful, folks...this is absolutely the place for you!
I can't wait to return....yassas!

Like Living in a Pirate Fantasy

It was like staying in the captain's cabin of a pirate's ship -- AND THAT VIEW. It was incandescent. It took you back in time. I loved even simply walking into the building, which was built in the 1600's. The room was perfectly appointed, amazing AC, and a bathroom/shower/toilet combo just like a pirate ship (I'm guessing). A bed with a lace canopy. Right smack in the center of the ancient harbor, with its lovely labyrinth of cobble-stoned walkways with charming taverns, shops and cafes. So awesome. Loved it.

The hotel is in one of the oldest Venetian buildings in Chania, right by the Old Harbour - a fabulous setting - but there were a couple of very odd features to the room; the toilet was very strangely situated INSIDE the shower (might be useful if you want to save time..!) also we had, as requested, a balcony overlooking the harbour - but you had to climb out of the window to get onto it! Neither of these features bothered us particularly but the worst was unfortunately to come - we returned to our room at 1.30am after watching Eurovision so were ready for some sleep but were kept awake by what must be the loudest disco bar in Chania a few yards away - until 5.30 in the morning! Don't book this hotel if you want a good sleep.

Great view overlooking the harbour

We enjoyed our stay very much and the view from our room was unbeatable. The only item that we didn't like was the bathroom, particularly the shower. It was very small and the shower head was not functioning properly. Other than that, it was in a perfect location, a great price, the receptionist and the Captain himself were extremely friendly and nice to talk to.

Eclectic, Great View, but Shabby

This is a small hotel in the old town of Chania. We arrived in the early evening, and had a little trouble finding the place -it is on an alley set back from a street with the same name. The staff was sitting on a scooter in the alley waiting for us - nice and friendly. The room was TINY and the bathroom was awful. The toilet was literally in the shower. To get to the terrace you had to crawl through a window. But the view from the terrace was over the harbor. Chania is a party town, so it was noisy, but vibrant. I have mixed feelings about the place - the location couldn't be better, but I shudder to think about that bathroom even now weeks after we have left. Good internet in the room.

charming beyond words

The room was the most appealing, comfortable, one of a kind I have ever stayed in. The location and view were a magnitude of 10 on the Richter scale. The owner was helpful and available. The room we had, had a double bed with gauzy white curtains draped all around and two single and was very spacious, with a door and a pair of windows looking out to the sea and a the most picturesque promenade. They had a rooftop patio to sit in and watch the harbor. It was just so beautiful and magical. The rooms were part of an old mansion so if you are into historical environments this will add to the appeal.

Room was ok, location and view was awesome!

The room was nothing special. We had 2 separate beds as requested but there was only about a 3 inch gap between us so it was almost one bed. The bathroom was small and had what we nicknamed a "toiler" 1/2 toilet and 1/2 shower. The toilet was actually in the tiny shower area. The people were really nice and when the shower head wasn't working properly they replaced it. They had beach towels to use and the room had ac and a small fridge. The best thing was the view/terrace overlooking the harbor and the location. Close to parking and right in the fun of the harbor which made it easy to shop and get food!

Nous avons aimé le jacuzzi, l'emplacement, la sympathie du personnel du petit déjeuner.
Le petit déjeuner était correct.

Les conditions d'accueil étaient moyennes car nous n'avons jamais eu de réponse aux mails envoyés avant notre arrivée et ne savions pas comment prévenir le personnel pour récupérer les clefs alors que Expedia indiquait qu'on devait prévenir par mail en amont (ce que nous avons fait sans réponse).

Nous avons moins aimé l'odeur de la chambre n°1, ainsi que les solutions de parking.

Vi hadde terrasse på bakkenivå, egentlig vårt lille hjørne i en rolig gate.
Solen kommer ikke så godt til der, men deilig med AC innimellom.

Nous avons eu une chambre en duplex avec roof top et vue mer. Chambre sympa et bien décorée mais n'est pas adaptée aux familles, ni aux personnes âgées,ni aux personnes qui ont un peu du mal à marcher. Dommage que ce ne soit pas indiqué dans l'annonce, l'accès à la chambre devient vite problématique.
3ème etage, escalier en bois dangereux, dans la chambre il y a encore des escaliers en fer et pour profiter de la vue - il faut encore monter sur la terrasse sur le toit, par un petit escalier en se pliant en 4. J'aurais préféré la vue à partir de la fenêtre simplement, l'annonce n'est pas du tout claire dans ce sens. Heureusement que nous ne sommes restés q'une nuit.
Par rapport à la sécurité - nous sommes rentrés tard le soir et avons confondu la porte d'entrée dans l'immeuble avec la porte d'une autre chambre (entrée à partir de la rue). Pour vous dire - nous avons ouvert la porte de la chambre de qqn avec notre clé qui devrait n'ouvrir que la porte principale ! A vous de juger..

Gamla stan är otroligt mysigt. Rummet hade massor av charm men sängen var hård och gnisslade. Frukosten var bra. Vi ringde receptionen och fick snabbt hjälp med varmvatten till duschen.

Hotellet, åtminstone inte vårt rum, är knappast värt 4 stjärnor. Enkelt, ganska litet rum och man fick klättra ut genom fönstret för att komma ut på balkongen som delades med ett annat rum.
Läget väldigt bra med utsikt över hamnen från balkongen.
Vi stördes inte av ljud men sängen var väldigt hård vilket gjorde det svårt att sova.
Frukosten helt OK och den serverades vid ett annat hotel med samma ägare.
Något vatten stod inte i kylen när vi kom - dock fanns en flaska raki.

Accueil fantôme, le personnel très peu présent. Prestation pour un hôtel un peu limite (pas de lit refait,douche en mauvais état, linge...) De plus le confort acoustique inexistant, nous vivons en communauté (interne et externe). Par contre la vue sur le port de Chania a partir des terrasses est exceptionnelle mais ne pardonne pâs tout.

È una costruzione antica in legno

Premetto che sul sito Expedia l'hotel è classificato 4 Stelle. All'arrivo non riuscivo a trovare L'Hotel, eravamo vicini ma i negozianti del luogo non lo conoscevano. Finalmente una volta trovato tra i vicoletti del centro antico di Chania abbiamo faticato a trovare la persona incaricata, non vi era alcuna reception con personale, un unica persona un certo Giorgio che si districava nei vicoletti a sistemare i vari clienti nelle camere che aveva nei violetti alcune in mezzo alla strada.
Ci accompagnava attraverso delle scale in legno ad una sorta di camera sporca e maleodorante, servizi igienici deludenti tappeti sporchi pavimento in legno scricchilolante, pericoloso in quanto dalle fessure si vedeva il piano inferiore, senza parlare delle zanzare.
Il locandiere no faceva altro che decantare il terrazzino con la vista mare sul porto Veneziano, che doveva essere esclusivo della nostra camera, in quanto si accedeva dal nostro balcone.ma purtroppo altri ospiti delle due camere accanto scavalcavano le finestre e si sistemavano in esso a bere e a godersi la vista sono andato a trovare di nuovo il tizio dicendogli delle altre persone che erano sul nostro balcone e ci ha detto di cacciarle poiché era nostro è dalle finestre delle loro camere non sarebbero dovuti entrare nella nostra proprietà.
A questo punto ho preso la macchina e mi sono diretto a trovare un'altra sistemazione. Ho trovato il Un Hotel a circa sei chilometri 3 stelle alla metà del prezzo con tutti i confort
