Best hotel to start the year 2024! The service was great. The staff were super polite and friendly. The room was vast and I added with a rollaway bed without any issues - still very spacious. There’s free breakfast too. Near shopping complex just this one focused more on electronic products. Not something tourists will want to buy. Haha. Overall, I will stay in this hotel again. ❤️

Breakfast buffet items get changed every few days or so, that way it's not always the same food to pick from, which is nice.
We had a minor issue with our room and the hotel offered us a different room late one night. Very good hospitality!

Only spent one night but I found this hotel very good. They wanted to upgrade us to their best room, but gave a weird look when we requested twin beds. That gave me a chuckle.
This hotel would be one of my top choices to stay.

Check in day was not bad. Waited 10mins after arrival due to room was not ready although time checked in is 2pm. Breakfast next day was amazing - lots to our liking. But 2nd and 3rd breakfast was not so much. Room was not so big but considered okay. Pls bring own usb charger too. Found blood stained on one of pillow sheet they need to check for these kind of details. Car parking is available. Swimming pool looks clean viewed from dining hall balcony which is a floor apart. Hotel is not too far from major shopping area for commute by car. Receptionist and bar tenders was very friendly. Overall our stay and the place was not bad. Would recomend anyone anyway.

It was good value for money, especially over CNY holiday. Good enough buffet with even option of a cafe latte order. Before going to the airport we also ate lunch there and it was a delicious pasta! It was clean and the staff friendly. My kids/teenagers enjoyed the pool and the gym!

There is not much around this hotel, but the hotel offers a shuttle bus to a few malls, or you can pay 20-30MYR to the mall or beach nearby.

We had just stayed at the Shangrila Tanjun Aru for 3 days, which was amazing! The Palace was the option we found as the Shangrila was fully booked the other days. And since we could not find a resort we chose a inexpensive hotel. We went back to the Shangrila and did the island hopping to Sapi & Manukan from there as The Palace had no concierge service.

If your expectations are low and you want value off money, then The Palace is a good option- but it is more of a 3 stars than 4.

this hotel is very near to the KK airport, about 5mins drive. if you take a grab from KK airport to this hotel, it may only cost you less than RM20.00. Very near to the town as well.

the hotel staff was very helpful and quick response. i checked in in the midnight at 2a.m., fortunately, the check in process was very very smooth.

overall, is a cozy stay with reasonable price. the hotel breakfast was very tasty too.

Price reflects hotel location. We 60 year olds found it no problems to walk to beach front and city shopping malls. It is a 15 minute walk with no problems.

I think this is probably a nice hotel but my own experience was very disappointing. I'm not usually one to complain but on entering my room I was greeted by a huge dead cockroach on the floor. Perhaps this was a result of the 'spraying' the notices informed us of. I phoned reception and was moved to another room only to discover that the WiFi didn't work at the desk. They sent an IT technician who suggested I instead stand by the counter for the kettle. Since this wasn't a viable plan for several hours work I went back to reception. They 'upgraded' me to a smaller room on a higher floor where I was able to complete my work. The next morning there was a dead gecko on my floor. It did make me wonder what they were spraying since the hotel is advertised as environmentally friendly. I went for a swim but the despite asking at the gym the steam room was not turned on. Overall a disappointing experience, but on the bright side breakfast was good and the bed was comfy.

I stayed here once just months ago and returning this time to a room with faulty air con and water leakage at the lobby. Staff needed to enter my room to check water leakage problem. Hotel did not offer room change for these defective issues and caused inconveniences.

The worst hotel in one month

I have to say that I'm easy to satisfy... I usually stay in hostels and budget homestays. So I must share this bad experience. The worst hotel we had in one month. First, we didn't feel welcomed at all. No answer to my \"hello\" and no smile from de staff. Also, it is supposed to be a green hotel but they print a lot of paper to explain how they are \"green\". The breakfast is horrible (and they charge you if you don't finish your dishe).

The room allocated to me was in the basement area. Upon checked into the room, the floor was dusty. At night we can heard people talking very loud and it was dam nosy. Toilet was a bit too small and can't move around easily. Toilet ventalisation very poor.

5 Day trip to KK

Great service. When we asked for towels, they brought it immediately. Very helpful in guiding us to good places to eat and visit. The wifi is a bit slow, 3mbps. The pool is large and clean. Buffet was plenty and delicious. I wouldn't mind staying here again. :)

the room hve no pipe in toilet

The hotel staff is nice , the room is ok at first , then after i discover , there is no pipe in toilet , just tissue , for chinese maybe okey , but im not prefered using papr tissue to wash something, then the iron must to request from staff , my previous hotel only 1 star but more comfortable than 4 star hotel. no need to asked something from the staff hotel . the breakfast have no sausage , fries , sunny side-up .. ive saw the gym and it awesome and last , the plug and air-cond not really work .

Not a Palace but a decent 3 (or 3.5) star hotel

Standard rooms not only have no view but actually are totally windowless, just so you know. And so was my room. But, apart from that, it was spacious, clean and comfortable enough, though room service was minimal. During my stay in-room WIFI internet worked only sporadically and was not reliable. Lobby wifi worked better. Breakfast is adequate with sufficient choices but again staff working there were doing \"their minimal\". For example more often than not, the omelette-to-order person hardly reported for duty. So I had to go with a breakfast without egg or omelette (apart from hard boiled eggs). Location is non-central but still somewhat walkable (if you do mind the heat).

Don't go for the standard room

The price is not that cheap, so when comparing with the price, it is not that worth to go.

1. Location: isolated and very isolated. You can't move anywhere without a cab, and a cab at hotel is higher priced. id find somewhere at city center or near the city center. Eventually summing up the cost, it isn't cheap.

2. All standard rooms are located at downstairs, b floor where the swimming pool is. The room was having a pool smell with kind of fungus so we asked for change

2. Ants! - also there were many ants on tables n in toiler, so many ants. Due to these two reasons (smell n ants) we requested for a room change. The smell of pool n fungus was reduced (as further from the pool) but the ants was the same.

3. Noise of karaoke - due to the ants, we requested for the room change again and it was accepted. Although it was a non smoking hotel, the room we entered had a smoking smell. Also, it wasl cared below karaoke, it was so noisy until we could tell what song is that. It didn't stop and would continue till 2am. So we requested for room change again, but the hotel said all standard room was full. So we requested to go back to our toe uouu room with ants.

I love the decoration, the ambience of the place

Lovely layout of the hotel, the exterior and interior was very nicely done. The hotel room had well thought through facilities, with slippers for the guests, hairdryer, tissues, soaps all well packaged, drinks complimentary. I loved the pool. Everything was in place to make the guest feel loved and the facilities sufficient for use. Buffet breakfast had a good spread.

Great location! Clean comfortable rooms. Good Breakfast and Friendly staff, Minping the doorman was super nice as was the lady in charge of the restaurant for breakfast. Be sure to try the Laksa! Having a shopping mall within easy walking distance was a plus. Close to everything in KK. My only issue was that during our stay there were many Korean tourists, all constantly using their cell phones so the internet service was very slow. And it's probably just their culture but the Koreans seemed rude and snobbish.

Average Hotel on the hill.

You need to get taxi from the airport to reach The Palace Hotel, the taxi will charge you 30 MYR. Checkin was smooth. The receptionist took 5 mins to provide me the key. The room was in the basement. So yeah there was lil smell in the whole floor. The Internet was okay for the first 3 nights but on the last night there was some issue with the connectivity. If you want to stay in the hotel for a night then for sure you should stay here. But if you are planning for a longer stay then better see the hotels that are in the city centre.

A hotel in a hill

The hotel is very good. It is far from the city center though and there is 1 old mall across the street, about 10mins walk. We enjoyed our morning work out in the gym and their steam bath. The front desk were very helpful especially, Wan. The only negative I can say about the hotel is the distance from the city center and they do not provide lotion.

If u can get a good price for a room at this hotel, the facility is very nice. Staff are polite and professional. Food is nice from the restaurant downstair for an average price of $6 usd per dish. Massage is exceptional but ask reception for 50% off voucher. Great for a few nights relaxation.

I would have liked a bottle of water or two to brush my teeth with. We had no liquids with us as we arrived late from a flight. The room was fine. The restaurant was too loud but the mee goreng and roti canai were both good. Internet was more functional than in other similar places we stayed.

Impressively sited on a hill with a beautiful foyer and reception area. Reception staff and dining room staff were very happy, helpful and efficient. The pool was ideal in size and location although I had some concerns when so many people were allowed in the pool fully clothed - rather put the quality of the water under scrutiny and consequently we did not get as much use out of the pool as we might have. The shuttle bus service was good and the beds were very comfortable. Information about hotel services was a little short and we never learned the menu or the prices of dining in. Often considered a massage or reflexology treatment but never saw a tariff list anywhere

We arrived a bit early and was imidiately asked if we would like to use the pool before our room was ready. The staff was in general very helpful and took initiative.
The breakfast buffet had a nice mix of Asian and western and was also tidy and welcoming like the rest of the hotel. Our room didn't have any windows, which made it a bit dark. Other than that it was quite large with comfy beds :) the location was fine. It took us 20 min to walk to the city and there was a path for pedestrians. Right beside the hotel there is a local mall with a little baker, pharmacy etc. so you'll not be far away in case you forgot something.

Everyone were fine except a few front desk staff who were not so friendly and helpful. As I had over booked 1 room night, ( I booked 4 rooms for 4 nights for 8 people, but 2 of the members leave 1 day earlier), they are not willing to help me to cancel the extra room. The coffee house staff were good.

Was in Kota Kinabalu for a business trip and the hotel is somewhat strategically located towards all the areas that I was going to visit. Food can be somewhat troublesome; however, if you're driving, that's never a problem.

The only one regret I have is that I booked a standard room, where it did not come with wifi. The only places you can get wifi if you booked a standard room is only at the lobby, which can be quite troublesome.

KK and surrounds is beautiful, we came here especially for the mountains. BUT Don't be fooled by the palace, staff don't care about any problems that arise.
Booked this room as it had all the amenities for a half price discount, we thought bargain!! A week later we had arrived, beautiful location, away from the hustle and bustle of KK and set amongst the trees, free city maps and nice gym/pool area (steam rooms and saunas were all OFF though and no guidance on how to use - strange) check in smooth but told no wifi in standard rooms but can use lobby, ok annoying but let that slide, second fridge didn't work so wasted carton milk, hotel staff not kind enough to replace that but did change the fridge for us, along with a shower head that was so heavily blocked with lime scale it came out the sides instead of vertically, but was changed the moment we complained. Remote then stopped working for the TV, everyone knows how frustrating it can be when the batteries start running out but that's no major issue.
There was no safety deposit box in our room, when requested they told us standard rooms don't have them, ok now I'm really annoyed at this point.
Website states ALL rooms have wifi and safety deposit boxes but didn't at all state that 'standard rooms don't' and when confronting reception about false advertising, they said there is nothing they can do, the website is not their problem, now I'm furious, the little things are all adding up and it's beginning to spoil our stay.
Breakfast stated on the website and still states there now that breakfast is approx 25MYR (this usually means give or take a few MYR for tax and service purposes) when we tried to order the breakfast, we were told 38MYR so in the space of a week and no changes to the website the breakfast price had increased 50%, again hotel claims 'nothing they can do, not their problem'
We went back to our room and ordered 2 breakfasts for the price of what it would cost for 1 person in the restaurant, ridiculous!
I am disgusted with the lack of acknowledgment to our issues and not a sincere apology throughout the stay.
Word of advise to everyone staying, screen shot all of your bookings and confirmations and print off the hotel description the time you made your reservation, might even be worth calling or emailing to confirm what you have actually booked for as they honestly could not care less about what your confirmation states!

A bit far from city centre. It takes at least 20 mins walk or take taxi. The hotels offers free shuttle bus transfer but only 3 times a day. I never took the shuttle bus because the timetable does not meet my schedule. The air-con in my room was very weak. I turmed to coolest but it made me sweat during sleeping. I found some ants in the bath room. I asked the front desk staff how much for a taxi going from the hotel to city centre. She told me RM20 and I said ok. She told the porter to ask the driver to charge me RM20. After that I found the standard charge was RM15. A swimming pool is available but the filter system is not good. Many small particles there.

An Aparted Cozy Hotel

I did enjoy staying here one night. Although the morning buffet isn't that of the 1st rated hotels, I also enjoyed eating various food. The room was clean and TV was good. But bare in mind that the basin isn't good in that it takes time to be drained. There aren't that many sockets too so those who have various gadgets bring your own multi plug.

Good swimming pool

Very good location, staffs were very nice and friendly. Swimming pool is the best part of our stay but not enough chairs, only 5 chairs. Overall it is a very nice hotel but no wi-fi in the room can't be a 5-star-hotel. Quite inconvenient to sit at the lobby to surf the net instead of doing it in the room. Hope the hotel will have in room wi-fi in the near future.
