The hotel had wonderful old-world charm, the staff was great! The room could have been better. I understand a lot of Europeans don't use AC but at least have a fan in the room, or at least screens on the windows so you can leave them open at night. All hotels should have blackout shades in the 21st century, this was a missed opportunity.

We had a wonderful stay. The room was very comfortable, dinner was delicious and so beautiful! We loved being able to walk on the palace grounds and saw the most gorgeous sunset over the water. We enjoyed everything about our stay.

Location is ideal. The complimentary breakfast is very good, plenty of variety and choices. The hotel has a certain charm which is most enjoyable. The staff are very positive and friendly. Regarding the breakfast a plain baguette would be a welcome addition. The only real negative is that when there is a function or special event it does get very noisy.

Although we are like family with the staff now, there were two days with no housekeeping - so our wet towels left on shower floor are what we had to use on two occasions. Gross and inconvenient, especially at these prices. When we returned to our room and realized this, there was no one around to assist.There aren't suitcase stands in the room, so everything had to placed on the floor. Why not provide them? No extra bed pillows - just decorative ones with stains on them. There is no one to reach out to once reservation area closes, which is early. You are on your own. No vending machine to simply get a bottle of water (the bar has them for a hefty price). Nice staff and great breakfasts. Beds fairly comfortable. Room is clean. Would recommend, but know this a lovely old building, with newer sections. The restaurant gets our highest rating, and the prices are very high, however the food is outstanding. Make friends with the staff. They are helpful, but catch them during business hours.

Loyalty has reached the pricy limit.
I have learned loyalty comes with a price. I use to go back to Fredensborg store kro every time I am back in Denmark for business, however my last two stays was experienced with a price to it...It has simply become too pricy compared to other hotels nearby. ...I will check the offering before I go next time, if the same again, I will be staying elsewhere...It´s a shame, thus i really like this hotel.

I stayed in the annex building across the street from the main hotel building. It was a nice, clean room with ground floor views of the palace. The location of this hotel is excellent for visiting the place which is only a few hundred feet away.

The location (just outside the Queens palace) is remarkable. It is a beautiful with so much to do within 20 minutes of everything. I will be returning to stay again for sure. As an American there on business, I found their staff to be very kind and they all spoke good English when asking questions.

If I can just mention one thing, note taken in consideration for the future and as international traveler with about 70-80 nights in a year - Store Kro has become expensive in the restaurant...please look at your prices (store kro) you are more expensive than city center of Copenhagen with certain basic things in the restaurant and bar especially.

Lovely setting. The room was in the main building on the top floor so the roof sloped in making the room slightly difficult to manoeuvre round. There was no ability to make your own tea!coffee in the rooms Staff were friendly. Drinks very expensive in the bar but food was excellent.

I’ve stayed here multiple times as I have family in Fredensborg. The hotel isright outside the Queen’s Castle so is a scenic location. Many people don’t realize the castle grounds are open to the public. A lake nearby is great for swimming. The town itself is great for shopping and browsing. Not a lot of shops but quality merchandise. Plus there are opportunities for a cappuccino with the ability to just sit and watch the world go by. Charming hotel, charming location and charming small town Main Street.

Vi nyder de gamle ting.. men gulvet på vores værelse var et flot eller har været flot en gang... de var løse og man kunne ikke gå nogle steder uden at vække alle i rummet plus dem ved siden af vil jeg tro... . Og det ene af glassene på badeværelset havde været brugt.. synes måske det er en lille ting så ikke burde ske, hvis man vil være det fine sted....

På store kro i Fredensborg er der majestætiske rammer. Jeg var der på en meget varm dag og nat, hvor varmen var ulidelig. Morgenmaden kunne kun indtages i bagende sol, og der manglede siddepladser, så man følte sig stresset undervejs.

Vi har været her før, og kommer igen. Dejligt hotel og skøn morgenbuffet. Skønne omgivelserne. Kunne ønske mig en bedre hovedpude, og et lagen der ikke rullede af, når man vender sig i sengen. Et par kroge på badeværelset ville gøre, at man kunne hænge sit håndklæde op, og ikke skulle have nye hver dag. Men som sagt, kommer helt sikkert igen.

Et rigtig godt hotel.
Det var anden gang, jeg gæstede Store Kro i Fredensborg. Det var et weekendophold i forbindelse med et besøg i Nordsjælland. Ligesom første gang var oplevelsen på Store Kro rigtig god. Der er rent, pænt, hyggeligt og velholdt overalt. Priserne på kaffe, vin og des lige er lidt i den dyre ende, men til gengæld bliver det også serveret af uniformerede tjenere. Vi boede i \"Rejsestalden\" som ligger over for hovedbygningen. Det er et originalt hus fra 1722, fredet og værelserne er små, men hyggelige. Præcis som kong Frederik den 4. ønskede det, da han lod Store Kro opføre i tilknytning til Fredensborg Slot. Selv om værelserne ikke er store, har de god komfort. Sengene er gode, sengetøjet rent og redt hver dag og der kommer nye håndklæder på badeværelset hver morgen. Kongehuset benytter selv Store Kro til deres gæster i forbindelse med store begivenheder på slottet, og man forstår godt hvorfor. Store Kro er god service tilsat ægte dansk hygge. Godt køkken med god morgenbuffet og menukort i bistroen.
