There is a lot to like about the hotel, particularly its location on the Dead Sea. The things I enjoyed as well as the hotels setting, were the overall ambiance of the common parts - the large reception areas and associated seating area and the huge display of flowers, sculpture and comfortable seating. The infinity swimming pool which was beautiful if a little warm for me. The staff members I spoke to were all helpful and one or two who I got chatting to were absolutely charming. I liked how well the bathing area was set up at the Dead Sea which allowed you to really enjoy this novel experience and then have a nice shower afterwards.

The things I did not like so much was firstly, and importantly, my room which was in the main block. I did not like the design of the room, the finishes, the artwork, the lighting, the strange design of the balcony ( albeit had an amazing view) or the grey finishes in the bathroom and a poor shower.

The other thing I did not like is how far away from everything the rooms in the main block are. The hotel is large on multiple levels and you have to walk a fair distance using a number of lifts and staircases to get to the facilities - if you are older like (like me!) This is tiresome. I understand that there is a buggy service but it would be easier to stay in one of the apartments which are away from the main building and close to beach, main pools and restaurant.

I would definitely come back and stay at this hotel but only in a different room

Wonderful staff and service at the Kempinski Dead Sea resort. Unfortunately the spa facility was closed for repair, so we weren’t able to enjoy it as planned, however the personnel throughout the resort more than made up for the disappointment with their kind and attentive service.

Staying here was the highlight of our tour of Jordan when it came to the accommodation and people.

The property is amazing, highly well kept and the staff extremely helpful and engaging and couldn’t do more to help make sure you had a fantastic time.

We stayed in one of the panaromic rooms by Resense, within the Spa area. Huge room and beautiful views from our private terrace. Highly recommend this option as it also gives you full access to the wonderful spa facilities too!

Special mention has to be made to the “Lady in Red” team of Era and Ivan. Such incredibly energetic and helpful humans. Likewise Alla the Front Desk manager who from the moment we arrived to when we left was so helpful with our room and suggestions of places to visit. All 3 are a great valuable asset to the hotel and brand.

Thank you for making my birthday trip so extra special.

Of course there was the delicious food, beautiful infinity pool and private beach future mud experience!

Highly recommend staying here.

We stayed at this hotel over a weekend at the end of our holiday and had hoped it would be a highlight. However the hotel was overwhelmed with weekend guests from Amman. Service suffered and we had to complain. Front desk also tried to upsell us to a more expensive room on arrival which was awkward and left a bad impression. We will choose one of the other 5 star hotels nearby if we go back to Jordan.

That said, this is a beautiful hotel. It was just shame we didn’t have a great experience.

Just left the Kempinski Dead Sea. It was a lovely stay. It’s a resort and it does everything a resort should. Customer service was terrific. Very attentive. The area to swim in the Dead Sea was well taken care of and the staff always ready to give you a towel or help put your mud on. The spa was wonderful. An’am was so welcoming and attentive to our needs. The Dead Sea pool was amazing. We bought the half board and were happy with the massive selection of food at breakfast and dinner. Ivan was there every morning to check on everyone and ask if there was anything we needed. There is a huge construction project next door which sometimes ruins the serenity of the place.

My stay at the Kempinski Ishtar Dead Sea was pleasant overall, though I expected more from a property of this calibre. Upon arrival, there was no particular sense of welcome — no entry drink, no personal touch, and nothing that felt “above and beyond.” I requested an upgrade and spoke with a gentleman at reception named Mashti, who was polite and professional, but any upgrade options offered came at an additional cost. Given that I was checking out several hours earlier than planned, I was hoping for a small goodwill gesture — ideally a complimentary upgrade — to balance things out, but that wasn’t taken into consideration.

The room itself was fairly standard — comfortable but unremarkable — and the pool was shared. The breakfast was fantastic, with a great variety and quality. Getting around the property, however, could be slow — you rely on golf buggies, and in my case, it sometimes took up to 30 minutes for one to arrive.

Where the stay truly stood out was at the Dead Sea itself. The lifeguard there was absolutely incredible — warm, attentive, and genuinely thoughtful. Seeing that I was travelling alone, he helped me safely enter the water, took photos for me, and even gifted me a small token of Dead Sea salt to take away. That simple gesture made the entire experience memorable. Honestly, he’s the reason I’d consider coming back.

In-room dining was quick and efficient, which I appreciated.

This would have been a five star rating except for a few things. My first impression upon entering the hotel to check in was a poor one. The man who checked us in did not smile once. Did not welcome us. Was actually quite sarcastic when I jokingly said we normally stay at the Marriott and I hope this hotel would be able to compare. He also did not provide much information about the hotel grounds. So when it was time to explore we were completely lost. Once I arrived at the pool the staff was very friendly albeit slow in service. The staff down at the Dead Sea was wonderful. The best in fact. At dinner at the Lebanese restaurant service as exceedingly slow. We made a reservation but were told we couldn’t sit at a table with a view because they were reserved, only to see the tables never used during our meal. The staff at the belly dancing restaurant was nice, but once again they were so slow. We ordered a martini and tea. I had already finished my martini before my mother’s tea had even arrived. I also witnessed what appeared to be a manager, berating one of his staff. All in all the property is gorgeous. And certain staff members were wonderful. But, this hotel costs twice the price of the Marriott and did not deliver twice the experience. So, I would not return. I will continue to visit the Marriott when I come to Jordan.

My stay at the Kempinski Hotel Ishtar Dead Sea was truly luxurious and memorable. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with great respect. Check-in was smooth, and we were personally escorted to our room with assistance for our luggage, which made for a very welcoming start.

We stayed in what I believe was a Junior Suite, which was incredibly spacious. It featured a huge king bed, a separate sitting area, and even a private outdoor seating area — perfect for relaxing in privacy.

As soon as we arrived, we went straight down to the Dead Sea access area (they close it around 7 pm before it gets dark). Floating in the water and trying out the mud mask was an unforgettable experience. Afterwards, we headed to one of the main central pools. Many pools close earlier, but luckily, this one stayed open until 8 pm, giving us extra time to enjoy the evening.

For dinner, we indulged in one of the largest buffet selections I’ve ever seen. The variety and quality were both excellent, and to top it off, there was a live belly dance show that added to the atmosphere. Breakfast the next morning was also buffet-style and just as smooth and satisfying.

One thing to note: the resort is very large, so there’s a lot of walking and quite a few stairs. This might be challenging for some guests, but it also adds to the feeling of exploring a grand, resort-style property.

Overall, Kempinski Ishtar Dead Sea offers an elegant mix of comfort, dining, and unique experiences right on the shores

A fabulous 5 star hotel but service challenges over the Jordan weekend (Friday & Saturday) when the local population descends on the Dead Sea resorts.

This is a large property, spread over several levels and so quite a bit of walking or use of the hotel’s golf carts. The restaurants are excellent and the staff are very friendly.

There are several pool options, all of which are worth trying out.

Probably one of the better hotels in the Dead Sea region but unfortunately it fell flat for us after check-in. Check-in was excellent - we felt pampered and important, then after that it just went downhill mostly. The worst was the pool service, or lack there-of. After a long flight into Amman, then drive to the hotel, we were starving. Absolutely no wait staff anywhere. We flagged the lifeguard who barely spoke or understood English, who finally gave a menu. But again, no waiter to take our order. When the waiter came, we ordered the chicken quesadillas. After a very long time the food came out and it was very juicy and dripping everywhere, but no plates, no napkins provided. We informed lifeguard who again smiled, not understanding, and when a waiter took ages again to show up, he disappeared for at least 20 minutes! We ate half the dish, food dripping down our arms, and used the pool towels as napkins. It was awful. Please fix this.

On the other hand, the gentleman at the dead sea assisting with the mud and towels was excellent! Attentive, kind, helpful and knew enough english. Just the best! I think his name was Mohammed.

Belly dancer was amazing entertainment and so sweet with my daughter. That was a very pleasant experience.

Room was large but odd style.

Breakfast was like a zoo- people and kids screaming everywhere, lots of food options but nothing memorable or delicious.

This hotel does not live up to the Kempinski name, sadly - hope they can improve.
