Complimentary tea or coffee would be nice. Other hotels had coffee and tea in the room.

The staff was really exceptional and the rooms were always cleaned every day. However, there seemed to be an issue with the plumbing in the shower. The water was not draining properly.

Villa Victor Louis is authentic in my opinion and I liked staying there however keep in mind that there’s no elevator and we got a room in the attic which is I believe 6th floor so it was a bit of stairs climb. However the room was very cute, the bed comfortable and I liked that windows could be fully open. The location is pretty convenient- it’s 5 min walk to the bus and 15 to the train. We took a train A from the airport and walked 15 min to the Villa. We were lucky to arrive before 9 pm because staff leave at 9 and I’m not sure what’s the arrangements for these arriving past that time. We haven’t had their breakfast - instead went out and tried different patisseries in the neighborhood. Overall our stay was good.

Although the property is very cool-architecturally, the inside needs some updating. Carpet is dirty and painting chipped. Stairs are narrow and steep with no lift, so bringing luggage up flights of stairs is a bit of a burden. The gals in lobby are sweet and nice, but limited on what they are able to do. Also, there is a 4 Euro charge for coffee or tea which was not communicated until checkout.

This is a great little hotel within easy walking distance of the town, downside is there is no parking close by. The hotel was also hard to find as there is only a very small sign by the front door which is hard to spot when in a car unless you are directly in front of it. The staff was very friendly and hlepful and the room was clean and had a very comfortable bed.

Beautiful, quirky five-star experience

We stayed at Villa Victor Louis as a family of three (12 yo child and two parents) and it was a fantastic experience. The building is phenomenal, and the staff are so great. The room itself was comfortable and spacious, as well as delightfully quirky. The location is also great, with all kinds of things just a few short blocks away. Breakfast is fairly so-so, don't get too excited about that, but it does the job and it's great to have the option not to have to go out and get it, and it's served in such a lovely space in the sunroom that mediocrity is forgotten.

I'd recommend Villa Victor Louis without hesitation and would absolutely stay there again.

The staff were super helpful and accommodating. The accommodation however was nothing like the photos pictured. We were led out the back of the main building into a little unit at the back of the property. If there were acurate photos of our room we would have stayed somewhere else! Dodgy door lock, toilet roll holder falling off the wall, missing shower door handle, dirty floors and unpleasant odour.
On a postive it was within walking distance to get out of the place.

Beautiful restored property with very caring staff. Property needs attention to detail as there were several issues with our room. These were minor to middling annoyances from worn towels with holes to mini fridge not cooling and an a/c unit that sounded like a dishwasher full of ping pong balls.

I ended up not staying as the listing was totally misleading. The hotel claims to have parking, this is a 15 minute walk away and I purposely booked the hotel as I needed parking on side as I had lots of luggage.
Furthermore there was no restaurant and breakfast was only available after 8am. Overall very disappointing and I would like a refund. I am a very good customer of your website and I’m not happy.

Really charming hotel. It’s a beautiful old building lovingly restored and used as a hotel. There are no lifts so be careful if you are travelling with lots of luggage or struggle with stairs. The garden is a lovely addition but does need maintenance. The team were so helpful, couldn’t fault them.
We stayed in a suite which looked out onto the garden but even if it was street facing, it’s a very quiet side street (with some pay and display and a disabled space right outside).
We were within walking distance of some lovely restaurants and a reasonable walk from some of the features of Bordeaux.
A kettle would have been a lovely addition but otherwise we were very comfortable there. Really comfortable bed and pillows too!

Great location - quiet but close to shops/bars/restaurants. Great room - the apartment in the garden - just enough room for 3! We did not take breakfast but it did look good. Beautiful building, great staff who were all very helpful. This was a quick city break and the Hotel worked really well for us.

First we were given a room on the 2nd ( usa 3rd) floor accessable by narow and very steep stairs, not elevator, which was not disclosed in property description. After ee refused that accimodation we were given a garden house, which was good option, as we had a lot of privacy. Ov course that cost more than standard room.
During our 2nd night all property was without electricity whole night and that was very unusual experience. Blackout lasted whole night. We were not given any explanation or excuses.
Location is 15 min walk to center of this beautiful city. After all i wouldn’t stay again at this property.

A True French Experience

Unique property with lots of character. It felt like a true French experience. Our room was on the lower level of the building which meant we had access to a small private patio and to the larger, public courtyard. We spoke with another guest who was staying in a private villa off the courtyard so there are a variety of rooms available.The convenience of the buffet breakfast made for an easy start to our day.
We had a car and while parking is available it is about a 10 minute walk in a very narrow underground facility.
The location of Villa Victor Louis made for easy access to restaurants, TBM stops, and shopping.

The staff were very professional and personable.

It may be an old residential building remodeled to good appearance. Bed sheet not replaced. Difficult to use light switch. Shower head refusing to stay in working position. Breakfast is poorly served in quantity and quality. No onsite or nearby parking. 7 minutes to public parking.

The Hotel was very disappointing! Got put in the worst room, in the roof! Extremely Hot! No Shower! No parking on-site despite stating they did! House keeping didn’t lock our doors after they cleaned so that anyone could just walk in! Very deceiving from the pictures! And worst of all the manager declined our upgrade even though there was other rooms available and we booked as VIP.
Expedia and this hotel have let us down and that needs to be rectified.

Poor service - only allowed 4 devices to log on to Wi-Fi (in our case we only managed to get 2 phones and 1 ipad connected). We now live in a time where free Wi-Fi is widely available and yet this hotel is limiting guests’ usage. The room is very small and there is no lift. Location is not convenient as well.

The staff are nice however the owner is horrible. A money grabbing person who kept our money for nearly two years, then issues a credit telling us that we have to use it by the end of 2921 otherwise we will lose £320. When we booked, prices had dropped and the hotel still owe us £65. The hotel refused to give us breakfast with this money and the option for it was not available so hotels.com are also responsible. For the price, it is a rip off. Do not stay here.

I had a great stay at Villa Victor Louis. Lovely, classic style, but not stuffy or too formal to feel at home.The staff was very helpful and quick to respond to my every need--whether a hot coffee or information about the city.
I've especially loved the place because of the beautiful garden--a great retreat in the center of Bordeaux--it's a little piece of paradise. The rooms are large and the bed is very comfortable with quality bedding. A fabulous, locally sourced breakfast is available. 1-5 min walk to so much and 5-8 min walk to the hyper-centre.

Comfortable and clean room, even if in the attic. The Ryanair seat prepared me for the tight bathroom space. Usual French drain aroma with the window open and breakfast was quite hit and miss, the earlier guests had obviously had a feast!

It's a shame as this hotel has great potential but the service seriously let us down. We had problems throughout our stay - the lady at the reception agreed to book us a dinner reservation and she told us it was all set - failed to tell us it actually wasn't booked until we asked as we were leaving for the dinner. Then the bedding was not properly cleaned in the morning make-up service - still hairs on the bed - they only do a very basic, superficial clean. Don't expect them to clean/remove your used water glasses or empty the dustbins. She also had no recommendations for restaurants nearby. And don't bother paying extra €11 for the very basic breakfast, just go the Paul's nearby. Disappointing as we treated ourselves to the suite and were hoping for a smooth ride but got far less - It no way near deserves its current Hotels.com rating but under the right management and service, this could've been really lovely.

A gorgeous bordelaise Townhouse

We had no idea this was more like private home rather than a hotel. We arrived late (after 10pm) We received an email from them at 8:15pm that evening with instructions as to where to find the key which was easy to find. There is no elevator.
The classic room ‘Rosa’ on the 3rd floor was clean but very tiny for 2 people. I would not recommend it for two. Thankfully, they upgraded us to a ‘suite’ the next day, which was much nicer.
However, the decor and feel of the house was absolutely lovely. Breakfast was delicious and we had it in the beautiful garden which was idyllic with the sound of birds tweeting all around us.
Management is young. The girls are sweet and helpful but do not have a lot of experience or authority to make the usual decisions that come with responding to customer inquiries. This seems to be because of lack of training rather than inability. Still, they worked very hard at making the stay comfortable. Our sense was that they were afraid of running afoul of strict rules. So, when we asked for an extra ten minutes for checkout we were told we would be charged 20 Euros!
They also did not have much knowledge on restaurant recommendations.
The location is good however. Only about 10-15 mins to the main areas. The street is very quiet and could be a bit scary if walking alone at night for single women.
We would, however, happily return. It is a very charming and comfortable place.

Our experience overall was very disappointing. From the no pick at train station up to the minimal breakfast provided for the money to a broken toilet which was not going to be fixed for three days but after insisting, the poor receptioist had to fix it. We had to continually chase our laundry after leaving it with the staff all day. The service was beyond the standard we expected for a high class hotel and in this price range. Noise from street was evident each night. The bed was comfortable but would not stay again.

location is good and only a few minutes walk from the city center. there is a street with good restaurants near by (Rue du Palais Gallien)
there are many parking spots in the street for overnight parking, but if you have to park during the day, the hotel offers parking for 15 EUR for 24 hours in a garage 10 minutes walk from the hotel (not suitable for large cars). the normal price in that garage is 30 (!) EUR.
breakfast is good and served in a very pleasant room, but the staff is a little slow in organizing it (for example there was no set table when we arrived, even though they knew we should arrive. we had to ask for everything to be filled up etc.).
there are 2 pairs of bicycle for the guests, but their condition is not great.
would come back if I find good deal

The only reason I chose a Victor Luis villa was its style, elegant atmosphere and the authenticity of an 18th century. Though I could live in the Hilton for less money. So it's true that I got what I wanted. But out of the style the rest was quite disappointing. The breakfasts were very standard, the staff included young girls except one they seemed very unprofessional and unsafe. There is no public transport near the villa, it is about 20-25 minutes walk to the center of Bordeaux. You can reach Tram to Gambetta Square which is half way to the Villa. the girls in reception didn’t know to tell us this and reserved a taxi for us to reach our meeting near the gran theater . What I found most puzzling was that after 22:00, when the reception desk closes the lobby room is being locked too .... meaning that if I wanted to sit and read outside the room and not to disturb my husband with the light, it was not possible !! You have to take into account the inconvenience of luck of elevator, there are a lot of high stairs.

A special experience, this boutique hotel is a jewelry, perfect for restoratin lovers. Helene, the owner helped us with maps, restaurants. email and reservations, always with a smile and fluente english.
Breakfast was great, great ground coffee and bio producs. There is a nice garden and a very nice reception.
The hotel don't have an elevator but staircase was wide and roomy.
Will be back for sure.

Very nice hotel in a renovated old house. Good room and bathroom, and a welcoming atmosphere. Staff was great and very kind!
It takes a bit more than I expected to get to the downtown walking but it is feasible. There is no much to do in the immediate area, most attractions (river, restaurants and so on) are a few blocks from there.
On the other hand, if you like to keep a sane distance from tourism noise, a great choice.

Very nice hotel with a homely feel. On arrival Helene made us feel very welcome and gave us great tips on what to see and do in Bordeaux. We were in a lovely clean and bright suite on the first floor and the room had a view of the garden. Air con is present with remote control and was quiet when in use. Safe for valuables and minibar fridge present. The toilet is separate from the bathroom which was not a problem. Hotel is located about 10 minutes walk to the centre of town. Very quite location. We were given a map and instruction from Helene which helped. After a couple of days we experimented with different routes. Eating out is easy as there are plenty of Restaurants in the city.

We have checked in and asked for a late check out but was told the hotel is fully booked and the rooms need to be cleaned and ready for the next guests by 2pm the next day. Hence, we have checked out at 12pm the next day and left our luggage at the hotel and returned to collect it at 6pm (flight at 9pm)

We have realised that we have left a pyjamas of my daughter when we reached home. Therefore, I've contacted the hotel and asked why did the hotel did not pass the pyjamas to us (to post costs EUR24) when we returned to collect the luggage at 6pm but was then being told that the room has not been cleaned by then at 6pm!!!

I believe either one of the statement they have made must be true!

This was a charming boutique hotel with absolutely exceptional staff, especially Louise. She went out of her way in giving us multiple recommendations for dinner, lunch, etc. on the map and also called and made reservations for us. Nothing was too much trouble- she even came in during breakfast to show me how to use the coffee machine. Our room was beautifully decorated, very comfortable bed and pillows and everything was spotlessly clean. We will absolutely stay here again the next time we come to Bordeaux.

Architectural charm in Bordeaux

Beautiful town house B&B in a very quiet city suburb of Bordeaux. Lovely welcome and well looked after by the family who run it. Large comfy room with good bed and lots of character. Breakfast nice in the sun room and the staff very helpful with info about the city. Only 10 mins walk from the main pedestrian street in Bordeaux.

It took 5 years to restore this 17th century mansion...and worth the wait!!

I stay in hotels 3 to 4 months per year-and this one is a hidden gem! The mansion is beautifully restored, ALL of the hotel personnel were genuinely helpful and attentive. Their restaurant recommendations were outstanding an not the usual tourist traps. The rooms had hand made (yes really!) oriental carpets and location within walking distance of everywhere. I wanted to stay for more than the week that we were there..,alas, we will be back!

Room cleanliness was disappointing due to 1 aspect but was very quickly resolved and compensated for by staff.
15min walk to centre (carrying baby and dragging a toddler).
Lovely breakfast.
Would stay again.

The hotel was recently renovated and our room was lovely. We had a king sized bed, mini-kitchen, and modern bathroom. It also included a small terrace outside the bedroom and an entrance to the garden behind the hotel. The staff were very friendly and breakfast delicious - coffee, pastry, eggs, fruit, freshly-squeezed fruit juice - overlooking the garden. The only negatives are the difficulty getting there during work on streets in Bordeaux. Take a taxi! Parking is also problematic, but staff gave us excellent instructions. A real gem of downtown Bordeaux!

Charming small hotel with excellent value

Vilal Victor Louis is a charming 9-room hotel with spacious and beautiful rooms, a wonderfully sunny tiled room for breakfast and private garden. We found the location in Bordeaux ideal, on a gorgeous residential street in the center of the city but hidden from the heavily trafficked tourist areas. Just a 5 minute walk from the iconic hotels in Bordeaux saves you the headache of crowds. The staff was very pleasant and helpful! Overall a great value

This was a great small hotel in a very good location. Slightly off main diwntwon area but very easy to access lots of points of interest by foot. The staff were very friendly and helpful. That’s the benefit of a smallwr hotel. The breakfast at 12 euros per person was actually quite good value. It was wuiet and leisurely. If you only have a couplw of days, I would recommend a breakfast at the hotel and one in one od the many outdoor cafes to experience the lively community experience. I would gladly recommend the hotel and would go back again.

We stayed in the attic room which is small and cramped, only a hand held shower over a bath tub. I am sure the suites a nicer but would not recommend the attic room for the price. No water provided in the room. AC didn't work. The cleaner left the bathroom window open and room became infested with a mosquitos which led for 2 nights uncomfortable sleep. Good location and nice breakfast (although you pay extra for it). I think there must be better for the money.

Nice hotel in a quiet area

Warm welcome & advice given on where to eat, which was perfect.
There was an issue with a noisy neighbour the 2nd night but we moved straight away.
The weather was hot & sunny & there is a beautiful garden to sit in

Lovely quiet guest house

This is a very quiet, attractive guest house. Good breakfast, if not for the technologically challenged - juicer, kettle, egg cooker, coffee maker and toaster. All excellent but none simple to use! Don’t try this with a hangover. Very comfortable rooms and very helpful staff. Would come again.

Amazing Bordeaux mansion

At first it was difficult to find the villa, cause all streets in old town Bordeaux are one way and very narrow. The villa doesn’t have a big sign or neon lights, but it’s the only one which has a street lamp. Staff are very nice and willing to help. The reception hall and the beauty of the garden gave us a glance how wealthy people used to live in Bordeaux. All amenities are in good condition. Quiet and warm. Close to scenic interests and public transportation. Highly recommended.

Seek out Helen, the General Manager if you are new to Bordeaux. Her advice of where to go, transport to take, where to eat and what to see was brilliant. No need for a guide book. Comfortable room, helpful staff in a beautifully renovated hotel.

beautiful bourgeois hotel

i stayed in this beautifully decorated hotel for a couple of nights on a business trip. it is conveniently close to city centre although there is no public transport on the hotel doorstep. staff was very helpful. breakfast was very good (Good croissants, bread & freshly squeezes orange juice). just a couple of things to mention: no lift & very little storage to put clothes away in the bedroom.

Tastefully redecorated villa in quiet location

The villa has been very tastefully re-developed with soem lovely repro furniture and fittings. There is a guest lounge and a small garden. We really enjoyed our stay. The room was not huge but the bed was large and comfortable. Excellent air conditioning and very clean. Location great - easy walk to Quinconces, Gambetta and Grand Theatre. The staff are multi-lingual and very helpful. Thoroughly recommend.

Our favourite place in France!

We were absolutely thrilled and grateful for our stay. The manager and staff greeted us warmly and went out of their way to ensure every detail was taken care of. The only thing better than the sumptuous, beautifully appointed rooms at the Villa Victor Louis were the lovely people who worked there.

The hotel is a work of art in itself; painstakingly restored with exquisite craftsmanship. The bed was comfortable, the facilities spotless, and the neighbourhood a short walk from fantastic restaurants and attractions. Breakfast was abundant and delicious, and we enjoyed looking out over an inner courtyard garden while we enjoyed our meal.

Parking our rental car was surprisingly simple at a public lot a couple of blocks from the hotel. Management had arranged a special rate and clear directions, and this worked out just fine for us.

The Villa Victor Louis turned out to be an unexpectedly gorgeous home away from home, with gracious hospitality and many fond memories. We're excited to return in the future.

A quiet and comfortovernight stay near city centre

It looked like a luxurious air b&b. We were given a room in the garden separated from the main building. The room was comfortable but the sofa was too weak and it lacked the firmness. The air-conditioning was perfect, no noise no smell. The central tour attractions area was within walking distance about 10 minutes. The bus stop to the airport was 5 minutes away. The receptionist was very friendly and spoke a perfect English. The area was very quiet. The car park could be tricky. I traveled by taxi and bus. The breakfast was €12 but below expectations. The room provided the comfort and it was good for an overnight stay.

Beautiful renaissance charm

We stayed for a week in the little studio with our two small boys (1 and 3.5yrs). The staff were absolutely brilliant. They were helping at every opportunity to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. The studio was perfect and the boys enjoyed eating breakfast on our little private patio and running in the garden. It was very well located- we walked to the major sites or got the tram (tram stop 10mins walk). I highly recommend the hotel for the location, the beautiful interiors and the helpfulness of the staff.

Beautifully restored with real character

Stayed for 3 nights in the studio room, partly booked for the advertised kitchenette, which itself was a bit disappointing - plates, cutlery and coffee cups but no kettle and none was offered when asked for. There was also no safe in the room. Apart from this, all the staff we met were really frendly and helpful and, although a bit cramped, the room was comfortable and warm with an excellent bed and direct access to the lovely garden. Although 15-20 mins from the main centre, there are regular trams and plently of bars and restaurants in the immediate area. Would certainly stay again if revisiting Bordeaux.
