The property offered a nice bar with good happy hour and it was attached to a restaurant. Our room was nice and clean with good air conditioning. I’m not sure if it was because we had traveled so much by the time we reached Bordeaux, or for another reason, but Bordeaux seemed tired, expensive, and dreary.
The area of the hotel is excellent because it’s only about 15 minutes walk to the shopping and museum areas.
When we woke and looked for a small café in the morning, we realized many are not open until after 9 AM. This is French culture, but as travelers, we wanted caffeine earlier in the morning.

We did find a few nice small bars in the area and enjoyed afternoon drinks. We appreciated the small bodegas that were close-by for water, fruit, and snacks.
Parking was around the corner from the hotel. Parking was safe and priced fairly.
The staff at the hotel described the parking as being “not attached to the hotel.” However, we found a route inside the parking ramp that was an easy route into the hotel -entering along the terrace adjacent to the hotel’s café and bar. Otherwise we would have difficulty carrying our bags into the hotel because at the front door, there are stairs leading to the lobby level.
In May 2025 road outside the hotel was under construction.
We speak basic French. (That helped a lot when checking in because in Bordeaux there are not as many fluent English speakers). The staff here were patient and helpful.

The staff have been wonderful. Helpful, professional and in most cases multilingual.
Quick to check in and get to your room, excellent if you are tired from travel.
This site has a secure area to leave your bags and cases if you are leaving later after your check out time and don't want to carry your bags all over Bordeaux.
20 minutes (max.) walk to centre of town on flat walkways. Safe? This site is directly across from the police station.

This is an old Novotel. It needs a lot of room renovations. For the price point I would not recommend this hotel. The location was decent, the staff was good. The breakfast had very poor selection. You can find much better hotels for a better price in Bordeaux.

The staff here is amazing. I had a medical crisis while staying at the hotel and they helped me get assistance and took care of contacting the next place that I was supposed to stay at so that they knew I wouldn't be there. Once I am home, I will be writing to the corporate headquarters about the key members who helped me. Absolutely marvelous people.

Also, the hotel was clean, quiet, and safe.

Very nice hotel with big rooms. Super clean. Looked to be mostly business guests - but it was a great vacation spot for one night in Bordeaux. Not the most central to touristy stuff - just a short walk to everything. Good breakfast. Has bike storage.

This hotel is in a great location. Very walkable to the city centre and very quiet at the same time. The staff is lovely. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. But the hotel is in need of some upgrades and refurbishing. We had to change rooms because the toilet in ours simply didn’t flush. We notified the staff after the first night (we devised a method of flushing using a bucket of water) but no one attended to it until the evening of our second day. No repair was possible so they moved us. Our second room was not nearly as nice, since it was a family room and the bed was very close to the wall to allow a cot to be used, but since the Olympics meant that all hotels were at or near capacity we knew there wasn’t much choice. At least we had a toilet that worked.

Everything else was great. The breakfast was amazing with loads of choices and the lounge was very comfortable.

I felt that we could have been offered some kind of compensation for our inconvenience but in new that staff was doing their best and didn’t want to create problems.

Hotel is lovely and clean, we didnt eat breakfast there (got it from the Intermarché nearby) but spent some time in the bar area which is nice, clean and comfortable. Good clean hotel and central to the city. 5 minutes walk to the bars and restaurants. The tram to the hotel from the airport was just outside (palais de justice). Hotel staff were excellent with tourist information and maps. Like all cities it is quite expensive. A large beer was 8.50 euros and wine is also expensive at 7 euros a glass.

The shower was terrible as the pressure was extremely low. The bed was really uncomfortable because they just placed two single beds together and the mattress were very low quality. The building was dated and you could tell they had done a light refurbishment. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The lobby/reception were of a good standard. I would not recommend this hotel as I do not believe it represented good value for money. The location of the hotel is the only redeeming factor.

The hotel was directly across from a Bastille Day celebration in which music and crowd noise were blasted till 4 AM directly across from hotel room. I extended my stay at this hotel beforehand not knowing this and no one bothered to tell me that this would be an issue. The staff did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to make up for this. It was a pricey and overpriced place and not that nice for the price. I would strongly recommend anyone considering this hotel to go elsewhere!

The carpet was a bit dirty and there were limited plug ins in the bathroom. The gym was limited and a bit messy when I went down to try it. The AC was not very effective. I absolutely loved that they gave us water bottles (refillable) that we could exchange for full every day. The breakfast was fantastic. The room was nicely air conditioned. Overall Good with Some Room for Improvement

The staff was very friendly and accommodating as we needed to store our luggage since our room was not yet ready. We also were able to store in after we checked-out, which was very helpful. Though the room was nice, when we entered someone had left liquor bottles and other trash in the entrance way so we needed to call for room service to take it away. I also noticed crumbs under a chair, so not the best cleaning for this room. The chamber maid who tended to us was clearly sorry and helpful. The breakfast buffet is wonderful, though the restaurant for dinner has a very limited menu. The location of the hotel is within walking distance of Hotel de Ville which makes it very convenient. Overall, a good, inexpensive place to stay in Bordeaux!

This hotel is set up for remote working in the lobby of this hotel. There are little cubicles and common workspace areas. It has a gym which is usually empty.
The rooms are large however the a/c was not very performant.
Location is great but with the roadwork being done by the parking lot, accessing parking was a bit confusing as the signs for « Parking 8 May 1945 »

This was the most expensive stay so far on our tour of Europe. The a/c in our room was very poor even after a repair person looked into the issue. The coffee machine at the in house restaurant served sour milk and had difficulty in convincing the attendant until several complaints were submitted. Was hoping for better relative to the price.

This hotel was just ok. Room was very small and a bit out dated with a musty smell. Our last night the AC didn't work well and we were very uncomfortable. It had been ok initially. We were a family of 4 and found it difficult to navigate the small space. Lobby was nice though staff didn't seem to want to help much unless you approached them. The area was just ok - not far from some really nice things and the above ground metro was close. Be mindful there are 2 Novotel properties in Bordeaux so make sure you know which one you are booking. There was no coffeemaker in the room and the hairdryer was really ancient. We stayed in France for 2 weeks and this was our least favorite property of our vacation. We stayed at a Novotel in the previous city we visited and it was much nicer than this one in Bordeaux. There was a pinball machine in the lobby (free) which my son loved!

The location was great - convenient enough to walk or take public transportation into the center of the city, with the added bonus of proximity to a public park directly behind the building and to a large shopping center and supermarket. We really enjoyed our stay at the Novotel Central.

The room was spacious, the bed was large and everything was really clean. The location was perfect for exploring the city’s main tourist spots, and there are lots of restaurants and bars within easy walking distance.

Getting to the hotel from the airport was really easy, just get the #1 bus and walk a short distance.

Covid check in was fine, and masks are required in the hotel lobby.

Would definitely recommend!

We had to drop it down to the lowest temperature (8 degrees Celsius) just to make it bearable. A sewage smell came up from the sink and toilet making the bathroom unpleasant.

Some standard amenities were not provided in the room and had to be requested. Hotel refused to provide water boiler for hot water needed for warming up baby's milk :( we ended up having to go purchase from a store...making things quite troublesome and unpleasant. Frustrating visit

Building works meant that there was no restaurant at all - no room service, no dinner. Given we chose the hotel specifically so that we could eat there (we have young children who go to bed early), this was extremely disappointing. No warning from the hotel until we got there.

We visited in February, but weather was unseasonably warm. There was no air conditioning, room was boiling hot. When we complained they simply said 'it's February, the air conditioning is not turned on', and suggested we open the window. Room was opposite a fire station, so this was not an option overnight...

This hotel let’s down the Accor brand and needs to be reclassified as a 3 star. The Novotel Bordeaux is NOT a 4 star hotel:
- plastic and paper cups in the room
- 1 teabag for2 guests and we told an additional $3 charged per additional teabag
This was a shock as other 4 and 3 star hotels we had stayed at prior to arriving at the Novotel in Bordeaux , provided us with unlimited tea bags and espresso pods in our room
Even the Ibis Styles in Bamberg had unlimited coffee access to-a coffee machine as well as tea , hot chocolate, juice and water all day long in the hotel lounge
- No coffee machine as in other 4 star hotels
- An Opened instant coffee sachet was left by the previous guest and cleaner
- substandard quality of bedding and towels
- No cupboard for clothes
- Exposed safe
- No luggage racks
- No toiletries provided : only bath gel and 1 soap
- Heating and cooling didn’t work
- Malfunctioning tv

We also asked , 3 months prior to our stay , for a room with a view since we were celebrating a milestone bday in Bordeaux but were given a tiny first floor room with a shower in which the water didn’t drain

- Our room was not cleaned on one Occassion by 3:30 pm after a long day out and the staff were quite unapologetic about it all
- Very basic cleaning

The Novotel Bordeaux if you’re looking for 3 or 4 star quality . This hotel does not compare with other 4 or even 3 star hotels such as the Mercure or the Radisson
