This hotel is in an ideal situation in the centre of Bordeaux, a minute walk to local tram and 5 minute walk to Hotel de Ville tram stop from the airport. The reception is 24 hours. All the staff are very friendly, helpful and happy. My single room was ideal. Very clean modern, with shower unit and always hot water. Room was cleaned every day. All the shopping areas, bars, restaurants are on the doorstep. Very safe and quiet area.

The price for the location is excellent. It is near the middle of all of the main sights downtown. The building is old, which makes it interesting, but also can be challenging to get luggage to the 4th floor. The staff are very willing to help, but it is something to be aware of. The rooms were clean and there was room service every day.

Hotel Gambetta, being a 2-star property, is as youd expect, basic, clean, and no frills. The room was comfortable and clean, but relatively small. The staff were great, and very helpful.
Location is very central and walkable, with parking approximately 300m away.

There was noticeable street noise at night, and the blockout curtains didnt quite shield the night lights.

Location, they say, is everything. If so, this hotel is the place to be. And the staff is tremendous. The room was small and a bit outdated but ask yourself why you’re there. Are you moving in and making it home or do you just need a place to sleep at night? I recommend

The room was very small, no safe, or fridge. Peeling paint on walls, average bathroom decor and noise from street with window shut was still loud. Luggage was difficult to get into room with significant steps from the lift. No plug sockets on one side of the bed. Only 4 hangars supplied for 2 people was not enough for a 3 night stay especially with limited room to open & store suitcases.

Very convenient for central Bordeaux, breakfasts excellent with plenty of choice. Everything lovely and clean, bedding wonderful - but it could do with a bit of redecoration, some areas looking tired and in need of painting. Parking €35 for two nights as special deal with hotel. All in all, excellent value.

Hotel is nicely situated , close to - but not in the middle of it all. Easily walkable , and although it’s in a lively area by day it is quiet on a night . It is a pleasant and basic hotel - was perfect for me. If you want luxury then you need to upgrade on spec and cost - this is ideal for one or two nights. Staff are friendly and helpful , breakfast at €9 is not overly expensive as you can have as much as you like. It was worth the money and the bed was comfortable

For the star level of this hotel, the price and the location….it was excellent.
Staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
Rooms are clean.
They are currently doing some renovations, so there is some noise after 9am, but we were out exploring by then.
Can’t wait to see their remodel.
Would stay here again.

Hotel Gambetta was situated within walking distance to most sites. It was close to the trams, restaurants, bars & cafes. Some of the rooms were small but the location was a winner. Continental breakfast was plentiful. Would recommend this hotel.

Wonderful location and very friendly staff. My son and I spent one night in Bordeaux and really just needed a bed, shower, and convenient access to the city. This was perfect. Staff was very friendly and gave great recommendations re good wine bars, dinner locations, etc. I'd come back.

Rooms are very small and basic with little amenities. stayed 3 nights and 1 day the room wasn’t cleaned at all. good place to rest your head aslong as you’re not spending anytime in the room.

Our 'courtyard view' room was a joke, it just faced a brick wall. Dingey and depressing. Would advise anyone to book a street view room with daylight coming in.

The staff were friendly and helpful, beds comfortable.

Very good location. Trams just round the corner.

The hotel would benefit from air conditioning and the lift covering every floor , also handrails where necessary for older guests.

Tremendous central position, with tram stop about 300 metres away round the corner.
The staff couldnt have bern more friendly, especjally the lady in the dining room, and a lady who I think was the manager.
Only criticism is perhaps the decor could do with freshening up. But would certainly stay here again.

Great service and location!

First of all, the service was above & beyond. The ladies there were amazing. In the top of my three month trip through three countries. The hotel is in an excellent location, but quite dated, loud and the bathroom was literally falling apart. As long as you are not put off or surprised by that, it is ok for a short stay.

If you like high end, modern hotels this is not the hotel for you. If you like to be in the heart of a city, close to public transport, like exploring a city, need a warm and clean bed with a great quick breakfast in the morning, this is the hotel for you.
Our stay was fantastic, mostly due to the assistance and care of the staff. We had excellent suggestion for what to do, where to eat and help making dinner reservations!

We have stayed at this hotel twice already. Great service, clean and simple. No air conditioning but fans. Great location, right in the central pedestrian area. It’s fun to wander around from there. $15 overnight parking a few blocks away. Rooms on the street side have a great view of people walking and shops. It can be loud at night and early morning deliveries. Rooms on the tiny court side are quieter but a little stuffy. My only caution would be: if you have mobility issues beware there are some stairs and corridors to travel before you get to your room.

Great location at the heart of the city, in a quiet street. Rooms are very small and so is the bathroom, but the hotel is clean and well kept. Good WiFi. Very welcoming and friendly, staff on duty is knowledgeable and willing to make recommendations. Good breakfast.

The staff were lovely and the location fantastic but the place has seen better days. The bathroom door didn’t shut properly for example and room was tiny. However the room was cleaned well everyday, it just needs a facelift.

Still as a budget option there’s much worse, and the location is fabulous

Old converted building with staircase steps up around difficult restricted access especially with luggage. WIFI didn’t reach room & hotel computer connection defunct. Manager refused to cancel 2nd night booked & I couldn’t phone Hotels.com as no internet VOIP.
Manager offers no recompense for imposing 2nd involuntary night stay, Sham establishment but breakfast was Ok. As is area central pleasant. Don’t drive Bordeaux presently installing new tram lines & traffic chaotic.
An unpleasant experience I would not like to repeat, I would pay a little more for a properly managed hotel rather than a module conversion with barebones faculty.

Overall the hotel did a basic job of allowing me to sleep. However that sleep was not comfortable or adequate. Wifi never connected in the room. Maybe it's because it was 100 degrees or maybe the hotel lacks the infrastructure to successfully host guests. I would've been much happy paying more money to stay at a similar hotel by the train station, lesson learned.

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon for just one night, the front desk was very helpful when we arrived. Unfortunately the night time front desk was not as friendly. The location was perfect!! The beds were comfortable and the room was clean-ish. However could use a fresh coat of paint.

The hotel is great for direct access to the Old Town. It is a pretty utilitarian room. The hotel lies right on the route to the tram stop, so there is a lot of (noisy) pedestrian traffic throughout the night. The windows block that noise, but without AC, it can be loud if you have to open the window to cool down and you don't sleep with ear plugs.

My biggest complaint was that Wifi didn't work and the front desk had no resources to make it work. Other than that, the front desk was very nice.

This is a great hotel if you are looking for a safe place to put your stuff and sleep, as well as have a place to come back to throughout the day for short rests or bathroom breaks. If you're looking for a place to relax and read or be pampered, you may want to look elsewhere since there is no bar and the common room is a bit aged.

Hotel is close to the bus station that comes from the airport, also close to the tourist office where all the tours depart. Near by you can find nice shops and cafes. The area is very safe.
One thing: you have to carry your bag some steps up to the room, they have elevators but still there are steps to go up. Did not bother me because I like to work out :)

Hotel convenient but too many stairs

Hotel was conveniently located and staff was very helpful, but guests have too many stairs to negotiate to get to some rooms! There is an elevator, but there are also stairs just to get to the elevator. If you have lighter bags, you could be OK, but I had a large heavy bag which was difficult on the stairs.
