Great hotel in a really convenient location for Bordeaux centre. Not the prettiest area but really quick to walk in to the city centre end easy access from the airport by tram. Staff are super friendly, really nice lobby and bar area and adequate sized rooms. This is our second time staying here and will definitely be returning!!

Fantastic staff and perfect place. Rooms were great for what we needed, really welcoming staff. Considering the language barrier they all spoke well and didn’t get fussing for us not understanding. With the hotel just on the edge of downtown it was easy to navigate to some really nice restaurants and cafes if you don’t want to dine in. 10/10 would recommend and go back.

Great location and good standard of hotel.

Hotel is a short walk to the trams connecting you to the city centre and a short walk to the main shopping area. Also very close to a local shopping mall. Very clean and had full aircon. Staff are cheerful and helpful. Our room didn't have any coffee or tea and the staff bought that up immediately. The free water in the mini bar was not filled until the last day but we didn't realise we were supposed to have any until the other people we holidayed with mentioned it. Buffet breakfast was fantastic and had extensive choices. Overall, very clean and great location. Would stay again.

Very disappointed, how this is even considered a 4 star is beyond me. Pictures definitely not accurate. Check in was slow. Room's safe didn't work, AC was barely working. Bar hours not explained nor breakfast. It seemed as though staff was not trained except for the overnignt gentleman whom was very welcoming. Upon check out we were delayed even though I prepaid. Honestly it's about a 10 minute walk to the city, but the walk and area is a bit sketchy....I've traveled all over France and lived overseas and for sure this was probably my worst stay in a very long time. Beds were small and not comfortable.

Nice location a short walk from many bars and restaurants and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. It said double on booking but was actually closer to a queen size. The bathroom in our room could use some updating and service. The electric plug was broken, and the shower didn’t drain. So I couldn’t take long showers or shave. they fixed the shower the next day but left the room smelling kind of sewery until we opened up the window for an hour or so. Still didn’t get a chance to shave since the plug never got fixed. Also the door to the bathroom was very loud when it closed.

Nice 4* hotel in a good location. Rooms and lobby are tastefully decorated and spotless clean although the hallway to the rooms could do with an upgrade. Bed's very comfortable and staff very friendly and welcoming. €20 for 2 glasses of wine put us off having any further drinks in the bar. Overall a nice stay and i would recommend to friends and family.

Very enjoyable weeks stay. Hotel well positioned for public transport, but is fairly centrally placed anyhow for tourist sites. Excellent buffet breakfast with hot items eg sausages, bacon and potatoes, which aren’t so usual in French hotels. Spacious room with good soundproofing. Free minibar (no alcohol) and excellent coffee from nespresso pod machine in room. Hotel offered a limited but good selection of food in its bar/ restaurant. Service exemplorary. Well recommended.

The bed was a bit hard and pillows could be better. No front desk seemed kind of awkward. Just staff working on a laptop by the door... Maybe it's a European thing... Loved the location. Easy access to everything, the train and the bus, plus a grocery store next door. Staff was very friendly.

From the moment we walked in the door we were met with smiling faces who made us feel at home and made check in easy.
The room was clean tidy and very comfortable.
Hotel convienient for all trams and buses. Supermarket outside and two extremely good bistros.

The hotel was in the middel of major refurbishment which wasn't mentioned at the time of booking. The check in wasn't the best as I had the work experience guy but I realise everyone has to learn.
The room was quite cramped for the 3 freinds and therefore 3 beds we had in it and given that I'm sure the hotel wasn't fully booked or anything near it, I did think they might have offered us a larger room.
There was an American waitress in the restaurant who, when we arrived too late for breakfast (not having been told by the check in guy), was absolutely amazing. It wasn't until that point that I felt I was really having a 4* experience. She asked what we liked and brought to our room 2 trays laden with delicious breakfast items, with an absolutely perfect approach and attitide. I wish I had taken a note of her name - she was awesome.
Check out was also very good because we were only charged one breakfast fee for the breakfasts that were brought to our room, so I was really pleased about that. That was William and he was a 4* employee too.
I was a bit niggled about the carparking - we were told there were no spaces but that it was impossible to book - you just have to turn up and be lucky. But there were plenty of spaces when we parked in the adjacent public car park. It wasn't a disaster as we didn't have too much further to walk, but it was a niggle.
As you'd expect, the hotel is well placed for a walk into town and Bordeaux itself is absolutely lovely.

A nice hotel with a few nice ammenities for North American travellers (fridge in the room!) but with a few real issues. It's undergoing rennovations in the lobby, and there was construction noise in my room mid-day while working. It's also in a unique neighbourhood designed with _no_ ground level businesses or entrances, so coming home after dark can feel very spooky (and forget about popping by a store to get something for your room).

Perhaps the greatest issue was that we booked a three-single-bed-room, and instead got two single beds and a pull-out sofa bed with a worse mattress, and which crowded the space uncomfortably. Expedia often mentions when a room is 2 beds + sofa, but in this case it didn't and I felt the description was very misleading, and I was really disappointed in both the hotel and in Expedia for offering a service different than I'd paid for.

In short, it's a fine hotel with a number of issues and there's better for your money, and I wouldn't stay there again. .

The only thing is that the Meriadeck area is not the nicest so do not plan to find little restaurants or cafes nearby.

Mercure Central Hotel was a good place to stay. Nice breakfast not in the usual place due to referbishment. Had a problem with toilet cistern not refilling. Not rectified during our stay. Apart from that everything else was very good.

We stayed here for 3 nights having had an excellent stay at the Paris Mercure. My husband is a wheelchair user and we need disabled facilities including bathroom. This hotel was superb the location excellent with a shopping centre just up the street. Staff were so helpful and gave us info and maps of the area l would highly recommend this hotel.

Good location, but a little distance to cafes

It is not too far from centre (within 10-15mins walk you are in the city centre) and tram A is just 3-5 mins walk. The bus going to the airport (No1) stops just around the corner, also 3-5 mins walk. Just one thing: not a lot of cafe or restaurants within 5 mins walk. We did not have breakfast at the hotel so it was a little inconvenient for us. Except that point, it was a very good stay.

Wonderful hotel in a location close to city centre. It is clean and modern with friendly helpful staff.

Only criticism would be the comfort of beds - both my wife & I ended up with backache... and we were in separate rooms, sharing with our children! Maybe the beds were too hard.

Minor point that did not spoil a fantastic stay in Bordeaux. Cannot fault the staff on their helpfulness and friendly demeanour.

Not a 4* Hotel.

We stayed for 4 nights at the Mercure Hotel. Overall, the trip was a city break, so the central location of the hotel fit the purpose - the city center is about a 15 minute walk, and the +1 bus takes you from the hotel to the airport in roughly 45 minutes. Most of the check in staff were friendly, some had an attitude which you would not expect in a service industry. We had dinner at the hotel on the first night, where my chicken came out raw on the inside, once i noticed this the waiter was quick to deal with it (he asked the chef to cook it longer, and then bought it back out despite me explaining I no longer had an appetite for it!) but he deducted from the bill, and made no big deal about it. The beds are comfortable, the shower is powerful and additional amenities (e.g. shower cap) can be requested from reception. The communal areas are very modern however, the rooms could do with updating. Overall, it was a comfortable stay, but i do not think this is the standard of a 4* hotel, as the location is its main selling point.

This is a good Mercure Hotel reasonably close to the city centre BUT the car parking is dreadful - a concrete public car park with very tight manoeuvring space and then a nightmare set of up and down steps to reach the foyer with suitcases. The hotel's reserved section is very small and was full by the time we arrived. The booking for our second room could not be found at first until the staff realised it was via HOTELS.COM AND THEN FOUND IT - THEIR SYSTEM DOES NOT SEEM TO CATER FOR AGENCY BOOKINGS VERY WELL

Good location, short walking distance from the main pedestrianized areas and many attractions. The parking is expensive, but very convenient.The staff were friendly and efficient check in/out were both easy and quick. The breakfast was buffet style, with enough choice to satisfy most tastes. The room was quiet, air con was good and the bathroom quite large, with plenty of hot water.

Jaded hotel needs triple glazing and a facelift

Staff were very pleasant. The room was fine but needed a re-vamp as it was very dated. It overlooked the shopping centre. On the first night the bin men came and emptied either the hotel bins or the shopping centre bins or both at some unearthly hour of the morning (it was dark) and took ages. It was very noisy. The next night there was a fight outside our window with people screaming and shouting. This seemed to go on for ages. So we did not get a good night's sleep on either night. The room would have benefited from triple glazing. For the price we were not impressed.

Travelling from Spain back to UK we normally have a single overnight stop on the outskirts of Bordeaux (travelling from Alicante to Caen) but decided to have a couple of nights to explore a bit of the city, only wish we had stayed a bit longer. Hotel was within easy walking distance of all main attractions. Gastronomic delight. However must say thank God for satnav. Driving through the city was a nightmare.
