It's scary to visit a country where I don't speak the language, but the people at the front desk spoke English and were able to help me. The place is convenient and close to transportation and the apartments were spacious. On the other hand, I was surprised to see no nearby restaurants open on Sunday. I guess this is part of culture shock. On the bad side, the cab I requested at the front desk, to go to the airport, didn't materialize, and I had to use the tram.

The accommodation was clean and comfortable though needing a little refresh but very good value. It was close to a tram stop for access to city centre and airport - the tram system is excellent. A few places fairly close for meals and drinks. Friendly staff and good continental breakfast options.

The property looked good on the website but in reality it was very unwelcoming. We hardly slept as we could hear noise from other guests most of the night. The beds were uncomfortable and the room was unbearably hot. We were two adults and two children - the children did not feel secure and we had to reassure them that we were in a safe place. We were not able to switch off or relax at all before our flight early the next morning. Staff were quite helpful but were mostly unwelcoming and very serious. It felt like you were staying in a hostel rather than anything remotely like a hotel. We would not stay here again and would not recommend even as a budget option.

Family stay for one night. Found the appart'city to be a great base for exploring Bordeaux with the tram within 5 minutes walk away. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We required a cot and it was no problem at all. Comfortable beds and a nice place to stay a few nights. I would happily recommend to friends or family.

If you arrive after 11pm you will get an email in French only on instructions to access your room.

The place is pretty tired looking. On a main road so noisy at night.

There is an excellent little cafe on the corner overlooking the square, if you head towards the Tram stop. Front desk said need to go into town for a Cafe mid morning but you don’t need to.

I would only stay here again if there were no other choices in the area.

The AC was a welcome with the summer heat. Great kitchen with new coffee pot (good filter). Microwave and a small oven. Location is a bit out of town center but walking a mile isn’t so bad. Safe area. Easy reception. Last minute booking and extended our stay.

Check in out of hours was very poor ,we were given a code for the main door but received no code for the safe to get our key cards but for a friendly laundry man who turned up and made phone calls we would have not gained access . Showers were dirty and no kettle in one of the rooms

Practical and clean!

A comfortable and practical space. If you are staying in Bordeaux for a few days and want a space with a mini kitchen and a fairly good sized shower room then a good choice. I lucked out as had a little patio which was a good addition. It is a bit of a walk from the centre so bikes would be a good option. Quite clean, could perhaps have a new lick of paint but overall good value for money with helpful polite staff. I would defiately go back and bordeaux is a super city

Worst hotel I have been to.

Not a good experience in this hotel. I would never bring my family to a hotel like this. The rooms are very small. I had a room for two but only one set of towels. Cleaning is done once a week, not enough soap or toiletries. My bed served as the chair for the desk. There is a strange smell when entering the room, mildew possibly. The breakfast table is in the way of the closet. In the winter, no heating or control of heatin in the room. I was so glad to leave this place.

This was a basic, no frills family style apart-hotel. Clean enough and large enough for a short stay, with kitchenette and bathroom. Bedroom lacked a door.
Multilingual staff was friendly and fairly helpful.
No public space to speak of except for breakfast room.
Location close to tram and bus, short ride to center or train station.

Hotel is clearly targetted at business people or for longer stays as the rooms come with cooking facilities and are pretty basic. Shower smelled but we suspect this was due to plumbing issues as they seemed clean enough. Parking is actually provided by the next door public parking facility.

THE HOTEL IS FARTHER AWAY FROM CENTER THAN EXPECTED at least 1/2 hour walk. However, very convenient for the tram. It is well worth taking ten minutes to understand the tram and you can explore the city easily.

We were welcomed by their friendly and helpful staff, unfortunately the room itself had some issues. Our kitchenette taps did not work, this was remedied 24 hours after advising. The shower had low pressure and we were unable to adjust the height. It was set quite low and husband was a bit tall. Air-conditioning was insufficient to cool the room. The deck would be better if there were outdoor chairs to go with the table. If staying at this location we don't recommend the upgrade to their superior room as we saw no value for money.

Below Expectations

I fell out of love with this hotel the moment I learnt that my 'chambre fumeur' was in fact a 'chambre non-fumeur', that to open a bottle of wine would require a trip to Reception to remove the cork, and that the absence of a work-surface would prevent me from preparing even a very simple meal; and so, overall, that the reasons for my choice of hotel had been almost completely neutralised.
In the interest of balance, the living/sleeping area and the bathroom were very clean and offered room for storage (unlike the wholly inadequately equipped 'kitchen') and the telly worked - essential when your opportunity to take a glass of Bordeaux rouge and a Benson & Hedges has been somewhat curtailed.
Location is deceptively good - transport is excellent, at least for access to the town centre and environs: The tramstop is 3 minutes away and if you buy a btc (Bordeaux Transports en Commune) \"Tickarte\" - 12euros for a 7-day one - you have unlimited use of buses; use the 'Lianne 1' for getting to/from the airport after you've got your 'Tickarte' from the Relay shops on the upper level of the airport).
You don't have to go the great 'Mériadeck' complex (3 tramstops away) to get you provisions (perhaps the bigger apartments offer adequate cooking facilities?) you can get basic foodstuffs just round the corner opposite the tramstop, as long as you are willing to pay twice what it would cost at Asda or Tesco - and bear in mind shopping for food in France is always relatively expensive.

Clean hotel/apartment, spacious and well equipped but the extra charges are ridiculous. 5 euros per hour before 3 o'clock checkin even if room is ready. Also I wanted to change to a room not facing the traffic and graveyard but they wanted 8 euros for a room not facing the street/graveyard. It's not like the other side was facing a beautiful pool or courtyard so I'm confused why they wanted 8 euros. Besides that the apartment was good. so I give it a rating of 3 for the unnecessary charges.

A Truly Horrible Hotel

My flight into Bordeaux arrived late at night and I was informed that I would receive a text message the day of my arrival with a code to a safe that would allow me to get my keys as the building was unstaffed after 11pm. By, the time I arrived in Bordeaux I had not received a text message and couldn't enter the building I attempted to call the number provided in case of after hours issues. However, their phone line was so bad that it dropped out 4 times before I could speak to someone with the code, when I finally did speak to someone with the code, the code I was provided with did not work, I then rang up 3 more times and received the same incorrect code. By this time it was 2am and I had, had enough and given that I didn't have a french sim card I had spent a considerable amount of money trying to call them I decided to go to another hotel. Which meant walking through the streets of a city I didn't know in the middle of the night with 3 bags in hope of finding another hotel. When I returned in the morning I told the staff what had occurred and they didn't care at all and didn't apologise for the inconvenience or make an offer of a refund or any financial renumeration even though I was significantly out of pocket from their incompetencies. In addition the rooms were run-down and noisy, as I could hear the conversations of the people in the room next to me.

We stayed there for 2 nights, and overall the rooms are ok and the small kitchen enables you to cook a small meal. However, the colours of the windows make you go crazy when you spend time in a totally blue room (thankfully our windows were blue and not yellow or red).

Reasonable barebones apartment easy to centre

The apartments are ok. We however had a fridge that never worked over 4 days - negated benefit of apartment over hotel - and never managed to get their unusual wireless system to work so internet connectivity was low. Also in the common area trying to connect required crazy password and involved a \"process\" every time. There is no French charm to the place - not that it should be expected in a chain. The staff was very nice, particularly on the phone before arrival. If you did a long stay for work, it does have lots of storage and the AC worked well.

Budget basic hotel.

On the plus, our room was enormous and the hotel location was good as you can easily walk 15-20 minutes to the center of Bordeaux. The only complaint is that the room was not cleaned properly when we arrived. We complained and were promised that they would check it. Unfortunately they mistakenly checked our friend's room and found it ok, which meant that we returned in the night to find our room in the same condition. It was too late to do anything about it and as we used that hotel for a night's sleep only we didn't make further fuzz. There is a charge for of 1.5 euro per luggage if you need them to keep your luggage for a few hours after check out.

Low price reflects what you get.

No service at the hotel. Fresh towels, extra. Maid service, extra. Everything except the room and WiFi is extra. Elevator did not come to the ground floor. Very few TV channels, all in French. Relatively new but cheaply built, nozzle adjustment in the shower cheap plastic, broken. Spend a few Euro more, it is worth the cost. Very convenient to tram, not much else around.

Although our entire 1-week stay was prepaid, at check-in we were presented with a full-length lease document to sign before getting the key... very off-putting. Obviously guests will not spend 30 min. reading before signing, and if the lease is unacceptable, what's the solution since they already have the money? If a lease acceptance is required, lease conditions should already be made available before the room is booked. The room was not clean: spider webs along the kitchenette ceiling, floors dirty in the corners, old chewing gum on the side of the sofa, etc. Room was cleaned once as per lease conditions, but we had to re-wipe sink area as a gritty film was left (no rinsing away of abrasive cleaner). Cleaning personnel leaves all dirty sheets, vacuum cleaner, etc. randomly spread all over hallways forcing you to walk through piles of dirty bedding and wrestle your luggage around vacuum and containers to get to and from elevators. Numerous signs in hallways and rooms mostly informing of additional fees if you do not clean up kitchen well enough before you leave and if you lose you key (65 euros for the latter). Management's attitude is abundantly clear from the lack of service they give vs. the service they expect from the paying customer. We had a suite with separate bedroom and the double bed was comfortable. But the sofa/trundle bed in the living room was very uncomfortable when used as a sofa.... the arms and back are just flat hard surfaces, no padding.

While some staff were helpful others were not. Wireless access is paid for and the modems may or may not work. In our case they did not and there were insufficient available for the guests to hire. We chose an apartment so we could shop at the market and prepare some fresh, local food. The kitchen was ok but once we had eaten there was no brushes or cloths to wash the dishes and no tea towel to dry them.
The hotel is about 2 km from the city centre but the tram is frequent and just a few minutes walk away.

Holiday in Bordeaux

Arrived at 12 pm and I was told that my room is ready but needed to pay extra for an early check in. When got to the room the there was one small bed and one roll in bed. For the couple it was not too confortable. Air conditioning was not working so asked for a differet room. The second room was much better with the proper bed and more space. There was no housekeeping provided with the price of the room. When I asked for sb to clean the room I had to pay extra. It would be nice to know that the housekeeping is not included.

We stayed here twice during 5 day stay in France so we experienced two different aparments. The first part of the stay was better than the second. PARKING: I was frustrated. I paid for a parking card through the hotel but every day it failed to work. Every day the parking attendant yelled at me and my 80 yo aunts in French using foul language. Every day the concierge seemed unconcerned but that it would work the next day. It never did. ROOM: On second trip the room lacked a TV controller, clothes hangers, tea kettle, shower curtain, bedroom tables, and complete bathrom tiles.

The Appart City apartments are located near the tram line A which goes into the centre so access is easy. The hotel was warm clean and comfortable with good facilities and very helpful English speaking staff.

The apartment had a large bathroom and excellent shower and had a small kitchen area with a hob, microwave fridge and dishwasher. There is a supermarket round the corner so catering for yourself is easy.

My only complaints were the bedroom area was cramped with the bed down but fine when it was folded back as a sofa bed. The second whinge is that only wired internet was available. It was free and worked well but not easy for phone or iPad.

You get what you pay for.

Rooms where clean, only disapointment was that I booked a room for two (as I was travelling with my girlfriend) and we were a bit surprised to see we had separate beds on different levels. Overall stay was nice. Hotel situated just a few tram stations from the city center, really convenient to get there!

Would easily recommend it if you're on a budgeted trip!

Fit our needs

Room was tiny, but clean. Bathroom was nice. Kitchenette was convenient, but we didn't really have a need for it. The biggest problem for the room was that the bed was really just a sofa-sleeper. It was okay for what it was, but not the best bed. We thought it was a really good value to be close enough to the city to walk, but yet still fitting our budget. Tram line is also close by and a good way to get around the city.

The hotel is okay if you need to stay a night and don't expect much. One issue that you may want to be aware of is that when your reservation says Double bed or sofa bed it is actually an old squeaky sofa bed; double beds are in a separate price category. Also, your non-smoking room may be located on a smoking floor, with strong smoke smell in the corridor. The kitchenette equipment is old, the decor is very basic, and getting a missing set of towels or coat hangers from the stuff is an exercise in persistence. For the same price, try the nearby Access Rodess, you will get a way better experience.

Surprisingly (for France) the reception was open at 16h on Sunday. The room was on the 8th floor with a stunning view of Bordeaux. The room was spacious for three people, but with only one single bed, the other two advertised were in fact a sleeping sofa (that could be separated) for two people. The room had a microwave oven, dishwasher and enough plates, cutlery and pots for three people. We borrowed a hair-drier from reception but the room had no coffee-maker. The room smelled strongly of old tobacco smoke but was otherwise clean. The person at reception spoke good-enough English. The hotel is well located, has got enough parking space, also supermaket, and tram to centre-ville and airport nearby. I recommend.

Perfect location for our visit to the stadium to watch rugby. Very clean and the kitchen area very useful. Also in walking distance to centre of Bordeaux and if you don't want to walk the tram stop is just round the corner. You are sleeping on a pull out bed but this was very comfortable. Good value for money.

I am sorry I rated the service only 3, because everybody was absolutely perfect, except for the young lady who was working during the day time : she was neither helpful nor agreable,

As for the rest, everything was OK (except that I did not know how to open the bed and I had to sleep on the sofa without any sheets on the first night : but I must admit I am not very good with that type of things) : a good cost-quality ratio for France, I suppose.

Good Value and as described

Provides just what it states when booking - a compact apartment within easy reach of the city centre. It's 200m from the tram stop which is a 5 minute ride into central bordeaux or you can walk it in 15 to 20 minutes. We had a studio which had a pull out sofa bed as the bed as stated on the website. It wasn't the most comfortable, but it wasn't too bad all the same. A small kitchenette included. Clean, quite and comfortable.

Appart'city Bordeaux - go somewhere else

The place was cheap, clean, but we didn't sleep on an actual bed. It was a folding couch. The shower handle was broken. Though the bathroom was huge, the shower was aweful. If you can, go somehwere else.

Good value

Best part about this hotel was the front desk service. After getting us set up in the room and giving us the scoop on parking the car he became a quick friend. This paid off as he pointed us in the direction of a great restaurant -- Cafe du Port. The room was not overwhelming in size but that was expected for the price point. Location was not far from attractions by car and on top of a parking garage and train stop. Would stay again and recommend to others.

Great location close to tram and in clean area

Quite happy with hotel. AC is poor, but other than that it was a very good stay.

Should have dish towels and cloths in the room as they likely lose towels on account of the exclusion.

Definitely would recommend.

Comfortable but no A/C in the entire hotel?

A nice spot, would be great for a stay of any length, pizza places and restaurants nearby. A comfortable walk to the center of the city. Just could not believe there was no a/c in the whole building, and seemed like it had been that way for a while.

Appart City - nice place for \"Apartment Style\"

We enjoyed our stay here -- great value for the money. The rooms had a kitchenette that had utensils and plates that we needed to prepare our meal. Location was decent near the tram line. Make sure you understand how the check in-out hours work or you may arrive without someone at the front desk.

Hotel Apartcity in Bordeaux

Conveniently located, easy to find and close to a tram line into the city. Nearby boulanger does excellant breakfast for only 2,30 euros! Unfortunately the air conditioning was not working and no other room was available. I will try them once more but if this happens again I will not use the hotel again.

Nice hotel

The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The room was nice, especially because of the kitchenette and the big bathroom. The room smelled of smoke, when we specifically asked for a non-smoking room. Also the hallway lights were motion activated. These detectors were located close to the elevator, so when we left our room to the elevator it was done in the dark. The hotel was located on the tramway but it was far from the train station.

Just make sure you turn up when reception is manned!

Really neat and tidy hotel. Good for tram links. Kitchenette came in really handy (being vegetarian in a mostly veggie-hostile country!). Only grumble would be, reception is only manned at certain times... if you arrive late in the day -as I did- then you have to ring a premium rate tel number to gain access to a safe to get your key. And it would appear that the premium rate phone line isn't always manned either (as I discovered at 2 in the morning with 2 irate families trying to get some sleep in the lobby). Other than that, cracking place.

Apart Hotel Bordeaux

I have found the Aparthotels quite good as I travel with my wife and two young children. They allow you to cook simple meals, and give you as much space as a suite in a 5 star hotel for less money than a cheap hotel. As long as you don't mind taking out your own rubbish, they're great! This particular hotel unfortunately didn't have baths in the bathroom which was a bit annoying.

Imagine my surprise to enter a hotel room late at night and find that there is no bed!! Turns out there is a sofa bed, but not an actual bed. There was no staff available when we arrived, so we were stuck. It was fairly comfortable for a sofa bed, but it was still a sofa bed. Seems they have beds in some rooms, but didn't bother to tell us when we made the reservation that those rooms were sold out. A/C was advertised, but it didn't work. We also had something of an adventure finding our key since no staff was there, but we finally figured that out. The hotel is only staffed 6 days a week during business hours. Positive was that it was close to a Tram stop, which easily takes you whereever you want to go in Bordeaux.

Chambre très propre. Très bonne literie.
Point négatif, l'ouverture de la porte très difficile. J'ai même demandé l'aide d'1 voisine => impossible de rentrer
Signalé à l'acceuil qui a réinitialisé la carte. Au bout de 5 nouvelles minutes, enfin on rentre dans la chambre.
Nous recommanderons l'hôtel.

Propre mais sans charme. Chambre grise, salle de bain et kitchenette très datée, douche avec une pression très moyenne, chauffage d’appoint nécessaire avec un gros coup de froid dès que vous êtes à côté des vitres (passoire thermique annoncée).
Il faut juste y dormir mais ne pas vouloir y passer plus de temps.

Personnel accueil trés bien. Les chambres sont tres spacieuses et bien équipées. Seul petit bémol : le petit déjeuner s arrête à 9h, un peu tôt quand on est en vacances , 10h serait bien et j'ai remarqué que le personnel débarrasse le buffet déjà à 8h55....
