A lovely hotel in a cosy nook. 14th century walls blend in with modern decor. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the restaurant served the best soup ever. Highly recommended, as long as you don't mind the absence of a lift.

A Gem in Arles

This is an exceptional property in every way. I will mention the only drawback up front - no elevators and some long staircases. These were no concern to me but some might need to consider that. Otherwise, a gem. You are in a building that includes elements nearly 1000 years old but the reasonably spacious rooms have all the mod cons efficiently built in. The location is superb and the staff are wonderful. The exterior patio offered grand views - as did my room - and everything about the place made it a great home away from home. I did not have breakfast but staff went out of their way to ensure I was properly caffeinated before I went out street climbing - which, by the way, is what you DO in Arles! A strong recommendation!!

Friendly welcome followed by a thorough explanation how all the gadgets worked in our room which was very professional
The hotel has a low key relaxed vibe that compliments the wacky design beautifully and the staff are all helpful .
Bed very comfortable. Good breakfast with excellent coffee not filter coffee thankfully
We ate tapas style supper from the small menu in the courtyard ,an oasis of calm in a busy city. The service was excellent. Wine local and reasonable price

Staff extremely helpful when spouse had a slight injury at another establishment in town. They also did her laundry for free. Large rooms, bathrooms and shower with very artful rooms. Staff could not be friendlier our entire stay. Highly recommend...also great location.

Great base for Camargue and surrounding area

Amazing modern but retro hotel on the inside but an unassuming typical Arles building on the outside. Nice spacious rooms.....Loved it. Only negative was breakfast which was a bit sketchy so probably worth a walk into town for something better.
There was also ample storage for our 4 bicycles. Not sure about car parking as the hotel is in a traffic free area. Think there were car parks about 2 mins walk away though.

We came to Arles for the feria ( toros!)
Le Cloitre is close to everything we wished to see and do.
Lovely people, sweet patio for coffees , little bar with atmosphere, great comfort in our large room.
Only coffee facilities missing in room.
A real find, we will return and recommend.

We loved our stay here - the hotel design is so charming. Our room was great and the common spaces are very comfortable, particularly the outside cafe. Also, we had the breakfast and it was delicious.

One note is that, like many hotels, this one does not have A/C. This was not an issue for us, but wanted to flag it.

Hotel du Cloitre is by all accounts lovely. . .until you turn in for the night. I've never had such a noisy hotel room. The \"terrace bar\" was directly outside my room and believe me when I tell you it is a very lively bar. It was so hard to sleep I was sure my vacation was going to be ruined. I asked the staff to move me and they were able to accommodate (which was great). The hotel is clean and adorable, but don't stay there if a good night's sleep is important to you.

There is no elevator, and many steps to climb-- in my case, I counted 54 steps, so anyone with health limitations should be aware of this.
The room was ultra modern, and quiet, and the location is ideal for those wishing to stay in the heart of Arles and close to Roman sites. For those walking from the train station, allow about 20 minutes.

Perfect!

Absolutely wonderful small hotel tucked into the center of the old city. Walk up a narrow winding street to arrive at the entrance to the beautiful cloister and this gem of a hotel. Renovation has been done with scrupulous sensibility; somehow comfortable and spare/light drenched at the same time. Couldn’t have been nicer to stay here. Staff was lovely as well.

LeCloitre provided the perfect place to stay in Arles. Service and friendliness of staff was superb. The hotel was right in the heart of the city, but offered a quiet respite from city noise.
Quirky Art Deco decor offered a lively touch to an ancient building.
Steep stairs and no elevator could be difficult for some.

Wonderful hotel and terrific staff.

The Hotel location is excellent. Easily walkable to all the main sites. The hotel staff are all very kind, helpful and personable. The decor is fun and modern. The rooms were clean, spacious and homey. There is a lovely rooftop terrace to sit and read at.

The one note I would make is that the hotel does not have AC. We stayed in October and found it was warm even then, so in the summer It might be quite hot.

Charm, originality and modernity wrapped into one.

We stayed two nights off-season and were simply delighted by the decor and general vibe of the hotel, it's entry off of a small triangular square, quiet street and proximity to the all great sites. It is also conveniently located to a forthcoming new parc and Frank Gehry tower to be opened in 2018. The interior design of the hotel managed to catch the vibrant and colorful aspect of the Camargue in a very modern way, all very successfully, from the lobby to the rooms while remaining true to the charming old building.
If you are traveling by car, I would recommend not to attempt to drop off your luggage upfront as suggested, but to directly park in the Parking du Centre with which they have a special rate, then walk over. It is a few minutes walk, but worth not having to loop around the tiny/narrow one way streets of Arles

Good location, good sleep, nice modern decor

Nice touch on an old building, the modern decor was a pleasant surprise.
Beautiful bathroom! There is an open terrace back, that could be better suited for guests.
Inside the ville centre, very close to St Trophime church and cloisters.
Reservation in advance is advised for the car, if you are driving.

The Friendliest Staff

The hotel is just a block from the main street and tucked into Arles center. Interior is a fabulous mix of old walls and modern rooms, everything functioning to perfection. The staff was utterly friend in a genuine way, very welcoming. We didn't have breakfast at the hotel as there are so many other places to explore. The only thing I kind of missed (or perhaps I did) was a 'warning' that if you arrive by car, the streets of Arles center are impossible narrow and no parking near the hotel. But arriving by car is not a big deal when you know the score, which is that you park at the city center parking garage and the walk (even loaded with luggage) to the hotel is only about 5 minutes. We paid 17 Euros per 24 hours - no big deal, really, as you get to see so much great stuff walking about. We (two rooms and four of us) all agree that this was and is a great hotel for the price. Expedia has 0 stars? I'm a bit confuses as this hotel is at least a two or three star hotel easily. Go and enjoy.

Arles' Hotel La Cloitre living art

This hotel was impossible to find with GPS, but with the help of the map on reservation confirmation and the signs at the side of the street pointing out hotels and sights. Look about 3 ft off the ground for them along Boulevard des Lices, and at 5 ft high on walls. The hotel has a number of artistic surprises to look at. The staff is lovely. There is no parking at the hotel. They offer discounted parking at the public parking Centre. There. Are 32 steps to the second floor, no lift. Get there in daylight to make finding your way easier. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at La Cloitre.

Imaginatively and thoughtfully designed, the Hotel le Cloitre was a perfect place to stay in the heart of ancient Arles. Our room was enormous with a giant circular tub, Flos fxtures, mosaic floors and - best of all - reading lights by the bed!

Biker friendly hotel

Hotel staff were really helpful, there is no car parking on site but we arrived by motorcycle and were able to park in a secluded area at the hotel. The décor is quirky and upper terrace excellent. The breakfast is very good but the coffee is from a machine that can only be used by the staff.

This small-scaled hotel is located off a main street up, slant-wise, into the city. Parking is a bit of a problem - you must go either to a municipal lot or a paying one. Either way will require an adventurous trek through the narrow slots that double as streets. Caveat emptor. The welcome (Marie-Therese) was perfect: charming, affable, wishing to please and acting on her wishes. She could not have been more accommodating. She is also willing (and suggests it) to book a restaurant for you. The touristy places on the Van Gogh square are to be avoided at all costs. Others are tucked away. We did the former and regretted it. The rooms are roomy enough, clean, with a modern shower. No air conditioning. An open window may expose you to evening performance noises (rock) coming from the local theater up the hill.... The breakfast looked sumptuous but, for 11 Euros, we thought we could do better (10 euros for two just down the road - much less extensive but filled the bill). I would definitely return.

This is a beautiful hotel with great attention to detail. The staff are helpful and polite. The lobby, sitting areas, and rooms are decorated and comfortable, which made the stay very relaxing and enjoyable. The location is next to the Arena but on a quiet street, so you don't feel surrounded by tourists but you are in a great location.

Excellent location, but do not arrive by car on a Saturday before 3pm as the Boulevard des Lices is closed for market day. Access to the hotel is impossible and parking anywhere nearby is extremely unlikely.
The hotel itself is very nice, very quirky French chic, but sometimes style triumphs over function (e.g. a toilet roll holder would be nice). Our room (number 4) was spacious with a large comfortable bed and the shower was excellent. However, we had only 2 small pillows which offered little support. The Continental breakfast was excellent, with freshly squeezed orange juice an option. The staff were pleasant and helpful.
There is a car park a short walk through the park behind the hotel, and there is a reduced rate of 11 Euros per day if you get your ticket from reception (park your car first then go to the hotel|)
We had four days in the hotel and recommend Arles as the best location over Aix and Marseilles where we also stayed.

This is an out of the ordinary hotel and you must understand its origin to appreciate it as it is. The only inconvenience is that it has not a lift and you have to go up a flight of stairs that can be difficult for some people. The hotel is very charming and the staff is really nice and helpful. Great visual appeal plus comfort

Never thought I'd love a hotel with contemporary decor in such an ancient setting, but Le Cloitre is wonderful. From the door knobs to light fixtures to the artwork in the foyer, it is a visual and tactile treat. The walk in shower is huge, towels and bed linens of high quality, and the breakfast buffet worth a picture. It literally adjoins the cloister and overlooks the Roman theater for a superb location.

lovely hotel in historic centre

The hotel couldn't be in a more central location with which to explore Arles. The rooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable.
It was lovely to sit on the very peaceful roof terrace with a chilled glass of wine after a busy day of exploring the area in hot summer sunshine.

The reception staff are very helpful and friendly.

We stayed here for one night in June and we were very happy with our overall experience. The hotel was in a great location right next door to the old theatre and 5 minute walk to restaurants and main attractions. The lady at reception was friendly and was extremely helpful with helping with our luggage and answering questions. Our room was clean and modern. Only a few small things that could be improved. Our room and most other rooms were accessed by stairs which was difficult with a baby but the lady at reception helped us out. There was no air conditioning in the room but it was cool enough to open the windows. The closest car park was a public car park 5mins walk away but involves a complicated drive through narrow streets to get there. I would recommend diving straight to the car park to avoid this drive. Overall relatively minor issues in an otherwise great hotel.

Great spot in Arles...but

This is a wonderful spot from which to explore Arles. Everything is within walking distance, and just behind the hotel are two Roman sites which are really worth seeing. The breakfast was wonderful. Staff spoke English. Good restaurants right around the corner. Only issue is parking...you cannot park on the premises and must use the public lot which is very close (walking) but not at all close to drive to as you must drive basically around the city to get to the parking lot. The streets are very narrow, and you can easily get stuck , creating agita for all.... Suggestion: park in the public lot on the Blvd des Lices and walk your bag over to the hotel and back. You'll thank us....

Beautiful hotel perfectly located in the heart of the city. Beautiful room and a great breakfast. Only two problems. The parking is a public parking and if you gat there on a Sunday after 8 you'll have to park in the street a few blocks away. There is no lift because it's an old building but carrying the bags up the stairs was worth it. On the inside is very modern and staff super friendly

Nice Hotel but poor parking

Hotel very well situated in the city with most sights an easy walk. Room was quite large and comfortable. We reserved parked as recommended by hotel ad and found out that it was 3 blocks away and a long drive on one-way streets. When I went to pick up the car when we left, I was unable to return to hotel to pick up luggage because of a street fair. No one told us I could not return to hotel after getting car so I had to illegally park and run back to the hotel some three blocks to get my wife and luggage.

L'hôtel n'est pas mal , confortable ,ancien un peu austère assez bien arrangé mais situé en plein centre , il faut aller garer la voiture dans un parking en ville avec moult complications du style code , emplacement etc .. le tout pour 11 euros .. quand même !Il faut téléphoner à l'hôtel quand on arrive afin de faire abaisser la borne à l'entrée de la rue piétonne .. Peu de place pour décharger les bagages et ensuite un dédale de petites rues étroites dont il faut bien s'extraire même quand on ne connaît pas et que l'on tourne autour de l'amphithéatre romain pendant une plombe !! Non , vraiment cet hôtel ne mérite pas la réputation qu'on essaie de lui faire , c'est un endroit où tout est compliqué , assez vide et surtout très présomptueux !

Hotel bijzonder moeizaam te vinden. Slechte aanduiding.
Bijzonder veel last van stormachtige wind. Ik deed door het gierende lawaai nauwelijks een oog dicht. Geldt vermoedelijk alleen voor de kamer aan de achterzijde van het hotel, die vrijelijk de wind opvangt. Mistral?
Hotel zou deze ruimte niet moeten aanbieden bij dergelijke stormachtige weersomstandigheden.

Je regrette que dans la description de l'hotel il n'est pas indique l'absence d'ascenseur car j'ai un problème avec une jambe.
Pour le reste c'est des choses fonctionnelles comme aucun mirroir en pied et barres pour les serviettes quand on est 2 .Sinon la deco est intéressante

Bel hôtel à la décoration vintage-pop, bien situé au centre de Arles pour visiter la ville et ses environs.
Petit-déjeuner parfait dans une belle salle et personnel très serviable.

Beaucoup de charme mais pas de climatisation

Très bel hôtel avec beaucoup de charme, très bien placé, calme, personnel serviable et accueillant malheureusement l'absence de climatisation vient gâcher ce tableau idyllique en été. La chaleur régnant dans notre chambre (au dernier étage)nous à empêché de dormir une bonne partie de la nuit. Pour conclure: un hôtel ou nous retournerons avec plaisir mais en hiver ou en mi-saison.

Best Location and Service

The location is great. But the light of bathroom was not turn on entirely. it was so dark.
and the stain of the wall around ceiling was not good to see when I laid on bed.
But, at dawn when I asked some hot tea, the hotel service man at the desk of 1st floor, made me a wonderful red tea in black heavy kettle which was the best tea I ever had. Thank you very much.

Hotel agradável e de bom custo benefício

Pontos fortes: extremamente bem localizado, muito limpo, quarto com cama confortável e armário grande, banheiro grande com ducha e chuveiro, decorado em estilo moderno de bom gosto.

Pontos fracos: sem elevador. Ficamos no terceiro andar e foi um trabalhão subir com as malas; sem estacionamento no local. O mais próximo fica a uns 5 minutos e custa aproximadamente 12 euros por dia.

De qualquer forma, um bom custo benefício em Arles.

インテリアが個性的でお洒落で、清潔感があり綺麗でした。また、ホテルの人が優しく親切でした。一方で、エレベータがないので階段しかないようなので大きな荷物がある人は避けたほうがいいかもしれません。朝食は可もなく、不可もなく、クロワッサンにチーズやハムにコーヒーなどでした。

Stort rom, men ingen air-condition!!

Rommet var stort, men sengen hard og sofaen hard å sitte på. Det gjør at det blir ukomfortabelt.
I tillegg har ikke rommet air-condition, noe som gjør at det blir fryktelig varmt. Vi måtte derfor ha vinduet åpent, men utenfor var det mye lyd hele natta og det ødela nattesøvnen.
Personalet er hyggelige og hjelpsomme, men det var umulig for dem å rette opp inntrykket pga manglende air-condition.

Hôtel charmant au centre de la ville

Hôtel bien situé, au coeur de la ville, près des commerces, restaurants et principaux sites touristiques (tous se fait à pieds). Personnel d'une grande gentillesse, grande chambre, bien aménagée et confortable. Attention pas d'ascenseur, pas de stationnement ( il faut garer la voiture dans un stationnement public, mais tarif réduit pour les clients de l'hôtel) et accès un peu difficile en voiture.
