Long queue for check in, very crowded in lobby area so not a great first impression sorry. Room was disappointing, a serene King but quite small with limited space. In such a scenic location to have a view of the construction site from our room was extremely disappointing. Despite having booked dinner 6 weeks in advance they had overbooked the restaurant so tried to seat us in a lounge area. We were only moved to a table in the restaurant after complaining. The staff were exceptional and very attentive. Food was amazing.

Overpriced hotel, you don't get what you pay for here. False advertising on some aspects and you have to pay an extra £20 per hour per person to use the hot tub and sauna which are also currently still under renovations. The spa is just as overpriced as the hotel so the complimentary hour they offer in the hot tub/ sauna is just worked into the price.

The accommodations were very nice — a beautiful hotel with plenty of options. Both dining areas were lovely: one casual and the other more formal, offering nice variety. The hotel staff were pleasant and accommodating throughout my stay. However, the waitress in the formal dining room was quite impersonal and unfriendly, which was disappointing.

The hotel offers great views of the ocean and is in a decent location, not too far from the causeway. Overall, a very nice stay with just a small area for improvement in service.

Our stay at the Salthouse was the highlight of our tour of N Ireland. The setting with the most amazing views, the standard of food and service and the decor were all amazing.only minus point was the ‘duo’ playing in the bar in evening. (18.30-20.00)
Tuneless! However the guitarist later on was brilliant! In all one of the best hotels we’ve stayed at! Food was first class AND there’s 3 resident cats in the grounds.

It was our class get together and we wanted 30 plus rooms. The booking process was clear and easy. This is beautiful, aesthetic yet simplistically designed clean property, eco friendly ( have their own wind mill!!) with wonderful staff and provision of eco-homes as well as rooms. Wonderfully perched atop a hillock with fabulous views. Rooms are ample sized with good sized toilet and wonderful local soaps and shampoo. Both restaurants on site are good, great for a relaxed dinner or a fast food with pizza, pasta and drinks. Breakfast is really good with excellent tasty options. Chef, serving staff are friendly and courteous, and simply excellent. Easy to drive to causeway, rope bridge and walk to Ballycastle beach with its unique estuary ( walking back has steep gradient as the hotel is on the top of the hill). Excellent for wedding, class or family get together or a family break ( can use eco homes). 45 minutes to Belfast International airport ( City airport is nearly hour and a half). Try coastal drive at least once. Thank you The Salthouse team, keep the standards up.

Every member of the hotel team was active and attentive, nobody was idle. My room opened directly on to the courtyard, which was novel. A delightful surprise were the hotel cats who appeared outside my door before breakfast.

This was such a surprise find on our trip to Ireland. Perched on top of a hill overlooking the rolling hills of Ballycastle and the ocean. You could not find a better view for dinner. Our room was nice and quiet, meals were great and easy to reserve. Staff was exceptional.

Great accommodations, comfortable rooms, very large room and bathroom, wonderful breakfast included in stay. Would like to see the hotel offer guests access to the outdoor hot tub and saunas free of charge until 10/11pm. This is standard at a spa hotel. The spa charges 💷 for guests to access amenities. The amenities close quite early as well, which is unfortunate.

A lovely hotel in a gorgeous setting. All of the staff were delightful and helpful. Only a few small things took away from the stay,

1. It's a spa hotel - and while it's not obvious anywhere on the website, you must pay £20 per person / per hour to use the spa. For a £200+ per night hotel - this just seems a bit cheap. Every other spa hotel I've been to allows free use of the spa to all residents. Limited use and booking is fine, but charging - no. Not only that, the \"Spa\" consists of a plastic hot tub that fits 4 - and it's communal. A tiny wooden sauna, that would fit 2. And a small steam room, in a clinical room with some heated loungers. Dissapointing to say the least.

2. Dinner in the main restaurant - this was a miss. Excellent service, but the kitchen is lacking. It took ages to arrive and my £35 sirloin steak, ordered medium was well done, and bizarrely bland without a good sear. It was an insult to the meat the way it was cooked. My wife's fish meal, ordered hake but subbed for cod - was OK and no more.

3. And lastly, the place while pretty new, is starting to age. Hot tap in main toilets broken, shower head in our room broken, causing rubbish flow and unable to wash hair. Loud construction right outside our room, starting at 8:00am - and I mean welding and heavy machinery. Not quite the spa vibe we were looking for.

So, a lot of good - and there is investment in improvement - but our stay was sub par, and we won't be back. Galgorm is a superior stay.

From start to finish the customer service was of a high standard - staff very attentive - food and drinks exceptional and breakfast was a delight - the attention to detail really made the stay.

If I was to criticise this hotel it would be that the rooms and the main restaurant do not have air conditioning - we were however provided with a fan.

The spa, staff and treatments were excellent- despite renovations in place.

Would highly recommend this hotel and have already booked to come back.

As a late check in i watched the one person at reception deal with a telephone reservation for almost 20 minutes.....when i was finally checked in...the room temperature was 24c with no A/C. They did provide a fan but it took ages for the room to cool down. At very least the windows should have been opened.

We recently stayed here for a wedding, and overall had a good experience. The location is fantastic, beautiful views of the coast, definitely the main selling point for the hotel. The ground floor of the hotel is especially lovely, with a great courtyard that’s perfect for relaxing. Breakfast was very good, with loads of choice and generous portions.

Our room was spacious, but a little tired in places. The shower head kept falling off and the water pressure wasn’t great, which took away from the overall comfort. We didn’t get to explore much of the hotel or nearby areas because of the wedding, but for the price, we expected a bit more.

We were also surprised to be charged £20 for a late checkout of just 60 minutes, especially as the hotel didn’t seem particularly busy. Other places we’ve stayed recently have been more flexible with this, so it felt a bit excessive.

That said, we’d still recommend the hotel, the location and atmosphere are great - but a few small improvements would go a long way.

My family loved staying at The Salthouse! It is a beautiful hotel overlooking the ocean with nice sized rooms and bathrooms. We tried both restaurants and they were both wonderful. The towels in the bathroom were the best towels I’ve used ever! I’m going to look them up and buy them. The staff was so nice and welcoming. We literally had a perfect stay here. The location was also perfect for us as it’s right next to all of the scenic locations on the causeway coast, it took just a few minutes to get to each one: carrick-a-rede, giants causeway, dunluce castle, dark hedges, and more. Highly highly recommend!

Amazing Weekend, this place does ooze quality, the only mark down was our room location, which was nobodys fault, just unlucky, did prove to be a problem as the room temperature was very warm, but we could not open the window as we were next to bin store, which was quite noisy. We also used the spa facilities, but this was another mark down as in our opinion, they were pretty basic and if you are residents, you should certainly not have to pay for these facilities, which are basic to say the least. If you do use the spa, check out the floatation tank, very relaxing! Shout out to 2 members of Staff, Paul in the The Lookout restaurant and also Prushad, nothing was too much trouble.

This was our first time at The Salthouse both for dinner and staying. Positive points were the friendliness of all the staff from reception to cleaners. Bedroom was specious, bed comfortable and all clean, as was bathroom. Dinner was fabulous. Both of us had steak and it was devine. Breakfast was also good. There was a cake stand on each table housing small glasses of fresh fruit and yogurt, and pastries. Coffee was good as was my smoked salmon and hubby's fry. A couple of negative issues arose when we realised the name on our key card was not ours. Not sure who got the better room because of this? Unfortunately the view from our room was onto a bank that was covered in litter and plastic bags stuck in a wire fence. The shower looked very modern and pretty but had little power. We did not use the spa. The cost to use the hot tub and sauna was £20 each which I thought, given the price of the room, should have been included for residents.

I left the Salthouse at 8:30 am to attend an all day meeting. I returned after 5pm to find that my room had not been serviced - towels nor changed, bathroom not cleaned, bed not maid, bin not emptied and tea/coffee facilities not replenished.

I went to reception and spoke to TAYLOR - who did NOT apologise but told me to go to the car to wait whilst my room was cleaned. I was not offered any refreshments ( complimentary or not).

I waited until a member of the housekeeping team came to the bar to tell me that my room was now cleaned. Again, there was no apology.

The next morning on checkout, my bill fully paid, I asked to see the manager about a complaint.?

I was told that the most senior manager on site was the restaurant manager. When he arrived, Intokd hill about the non cleaning/servicing of my room the day before. He said he would pass my complaint on. I specifically asked for an email response to explain why my room was not cleaned/ serviced in Saturday 8 February .

I have not received any communication - email or otherwise from the Salthouse Hotel - to apologise for the shoddy service. I do not believe that they care and the experience as a solo female traveller left me feeling unvalued and substandard as a guest.

Really enjoyed our stay in the salthouse. Its very exclusive and well looked after. Enjiyed the views and the spa is lovely. Would definitely go back again. Hope it stays exclusive as you get bigger and more accommodation is becoming available l.

Excellent dining experience and food, really good staff and service. Excellent decor in room. Ventilation in room not to our liking though. Very warm and only way to cool the temperature (after turning radiator down) or get more air was to open window as no air conditioning at least in our room. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

Great night away

Lovely hotel, our first time staying here. Brilliant atmosphere for dinner with live music, cocktails and great food. Also enjoyed lunch at the lookout restaurant. Staff were fantastic, really friendly and helpful. Beautiful sunrise this morning over the cliffs. Very relaxing break.

We enjoyed our stay, lovely venue in a great location with amazing views.

The spa facility isn’t fantastic and when booking our stay, we did not realise that you need to pay another £20 per per person per hour to use the spa facilities.

This seemed very expensive for what it was and I think it’s unfair to only get the facilities for an hour. Plus the spa is only open until 6pm so it really limits our spa experience.

I wouldn’t be in a rush back due to this.

Fantastic hotel

We loved the Salthouse. Food excellent & even a glass of mulled wine & a mince pie, great touch. We are looking forward to going back in Spring hopefully. Thanks all for such a fab stay.
