2 Night stay for the Open in Portrush

We stayed here during the Open in Portrush. The Bedrooms were very comfortable and well equipped. The Breakfast was excellent. The Hosts were really helpful and accommodating.
Very close to Giants Causeway and other famous landmarks.

Great location, close to Bushmills and Giants Causeway. Basic and quite dated accommodation but adequate. Good breakfast. Didn't serve food in the evening (which we knew - but you should be aware if you are staying there) but Bushmills is a short drive and there are a range of options there.

Mattresses are pretty old, but the place is clean although somewhat rustic. The owner Makela is very nice and accommodating and made up for the outdated facilities. Really quiet at night which made for a nice nights rest.

The service here is very friendly and helpful and very accommodating. The rooms appeared clean, the beds were comfortable. The shower was the smallest I've been in. It was a bit tricky to bend over the wash the toes.

Mark and Mikayla are wonderful hosts! We showed up late after pointing ourselves to the wrong Causeway B&B. Having not eaten we whined a bit and Mikayla whipped up some chips and chicken wings in a quick minute. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet with all the necessities and the optional breakfast (made to order) was tasty and filling. The location is excellent but you will need to self transport, no bus service at this time and a cab (if available?) would be pricey. If you are open hearted and ready to change it up a little from the typical tourist experience- Causeway Tavern is for you.

Smallest room in our whole of Ireland trip. Also tiniest bathroom & shower. Toilet seat slid around and no place to put our bags. Nice breakfast in the morning though. No place to walk for dinner.

Avoid this place

We didnt stay in this property due to the foul smell when entering the premises. The owner was shouting loudly for someone else in the premises. The premises was unhygienic and it was obvious it was not clean. Myself and my husband turned and left.
We spent the rest of the day trying to find other accomadation and end up driving 3 hours back home.

The stay was okay. We came in the off season so most things were closed down. The tavern B&B was okay but very overpriced for what you get. The room was clean though the bathroom was run down and a leaky toilet ran all night. There was also a musty smell that permeated the entire establishment. We paid (in advance) for the breakfast through Hotels.com that was to come with the room but when we got up in the morning and went downstairs for Breakfast we were the only ones there. No staff and no customers. We ended up just getting ready and leaving, still with no staff around. Disappointed to pay for a service we did not receive and so much for a room that was underwhelming. Our one night stay was £120 (without breakfast and £138 with breakfast) and I’d say at most it was an £80 room. A clean and safe room but will stay elsewhere next time.

Pub stay worth the wait!

I had always wanted to stay 'in' a pub and Causeway didn't disappoint! The rooms are behind the actual pub. They are clean, comfortable, and quiet. The proprietors and wonderfully welcoming people. I felt so at home and they make excellent breakfast. It's close to town and local landmarks. I can't wait to go back. This was a true, Northern Ireland experience!!

Easy to find. Just a few minutes away from the Giants Causeway. We had room number 2 which had a large double bed and bunkbeds. We are travelling around Ireland so had a lot of luggage so the room was cosy. It was perfectly clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. We had a drink in the bar downstairs in the evening whilst enjoying a game of pool (50p) Bargain!!

Breakfast was pre-ordered the night before and was more than sufficient for our needs. Served between 8 and 9 am. The continental breakfast that was presented is the best fruit platter I have ever seen!

Would definitely recommend this property if you are visiting the Giants Causeway.

Super fun and comfortable lodging. Loved sitting in the bar chatting with the owner and learning even more about Irish whiskey and other spirits. Our bed was really comfortable. Room and bathroom were a little tight on space but adequate for our one night stay.

Okay but wouldn’t stay there again.

Hotel is a bit run down but does have some ambiance with wood fireplace and old bar. Our shower door came off the track and wouldn’t close. WiFi didn’t work for my husband or me but did for the couple in the next room. Inn keeper was not very hospitable. We thought our breakfast was included but were informed otherwise. Would be good to clarify this if you care. Price seemed too expensive for this hotel but hotels right in the town of Bushmills were even more expensive so it may just be an expensive area. This tavern/hotel was about 6 miles out of Bushmills but an easy drive.

It was adequate for what we wanted. Just a place to stay overnight. The hosts were fine. The room clean enough. We didn’t want breakfast so can’t comment on this. The area nearby is fantastic. A couple of very good restaurants within a few minutes drive. Has live music on Sat nights, we stayed Sunday so missed it, a pity because we would have liked that.

Perfect base for the Antrim coast.

Visiting the Antrim Coastal route and this Pub was a perfect base for travelling east or west. Not busy in the evenings but allowed us to chat with some locals, even if the accent's were sometimes tricky to understand. The full Irish breakfast was a filling start to the day and freshly cooked as you arrive. The only setback was no evening meals and the nearest option was about 2 Km away. This was compensated for by the staff allowing take-away's to be delivered and eaten in the Pub which seemed to satisfy the guests on our visit.

Great location for Giant's Causeway

Great location and very little noise from the road. 2 proper single beds in the family room in addition to the double which is a bonus! The breakfast was lovely. The electricity went off in the morning (don't know how often that happens) and I think they turned on a generator which was very noisy outside our room, but luckily we were leaving that morning! don't eat at the Smugglers Inn as the food we ordered wasn't great!

A great little 'local' spot!

A great family-run place. If you're looking for something with the most modern comforts this isn't the place for you (good luck finding anything like that in the area) but if you are looking for a nice place to stay with a very friendly atmosphere - this is the place for you. Accessible location, very good breakfast in the morning and a great group of locals that come by in the evenings to the tavern.

This place is amazing. Charlie was a gracious host and bartender. The breakfast was excellent and it’s close to the Giant’s Causeway. Saturday night was live music and the locals really enjoyed having us Americans there to drink and party with them. 10 out of 10 I’d go stay again. I wish we’d stayed a few days longer.

The perfect location if visiting the causeway,
The staff are so helpfull giving great advise on were to go to see some of the more of the sights that could easy be missed. Lovely clean and spacious room with en suit. This B & B is very authentic and local. It was nice to have a pub below the rooms and breakfast ready in the morning. The breakfast was good and service very good as well.

A Lonely Place on a deserted road

I had always wanted to spend a night above a tavern and this was it, but I wouldn't do it again. Bushmills is a very small town and we were well away from the town feeling very deserted. The inn looked like what I thought a tavern with accommodation should look like (which is what hooked me when I booked). You walk into the bar area; bargirl is the receptionist. Our room was OK--bed was very comfortable-- as was the bathroom, though it wins the prize for world's smallest sink. Breakfast was included and was good, but, despite the advertising which suggests there is a restaurant on premises, there is not. You have to go two miles down the road for an evening meal. Maybe this is our biggest complaint. (I'd stay at the Smugglers Inn next time.) We tried to enjoy ourselves in the bar after eating down the road, but the place was
dead.

I read reviews b4 my stay and must say they are very unfair !! If u want The Hilton then book it....this tavern is an absolute gem and given its locality it is right on the causeway. The rooms are more than adequate and there's a bar to chill out in...OK the negative is that there's no restaurant in the evening...but 4warned is 4 armed so order a takeaway in (the tavern has no problem with that) or go down the road to the excellent Smugglers Bistro...job done....I will be back but as a local Norn Iron customer will book earlier and be there on a weekend lol

We were in a ground floor room set up to suit a disabled person, it felt damp, non-vacuumed carpet and no wifi. No tea bags in room just coffee. Staff somewhat offhand.

The room was clean but grim in appearance. We had four single beds squashed into a small, basic room. Fine if you just wanted to sleep I suppose. I presume hot water is only supplied in the mornings, as I could only avail of a cold shower the evening I arrived. Breakfast is only between 8 and 9 and yet they still wanted a more specific time as well as your order on arrival.

Noisy but budget

This hotel is in a good location. It is about a 5-10 minute drive to Giant's Causeway and Dunluce Castle. It was 15 minutes to the rope bridge. We stayed on a Monday night, so we were surprised that there was a musician playing downstairs that night. It was very noisy in the room, and it was difficult to fall asleep. One other thing - one of the twin beds was very uncomfortable. I thought the springs were going to come up through the mattress. I guess you get what you pay for. The breakfast was good and plentiful. The location was good. The room just wasn't comfortable.
