This hotel meets the needs but that's about it. It was clean though not as convenient as they advertise. The shower is extremely slippery. The staff is not very friendly although they will suggest restaurants and call a cab when one is leaving for the airport. It is not a place to stay when visiting Naples, just a place to stay the night before a flight out. The neighborhood doesn't look like it but there are some good restaurants just down the street. There is a Catholic church on the next block if one wants to go to mass.

The hotel is clean and a 10 minute drive to the airport but you will still pay 20 euros of taxi!!! . The area is not safe with 3 restaurants nesr but they were already closed at 4 pm!!! . We had to order Mc Donald’s which was ok because I did not feel safe to walk the neighborhood

The staff and lodging were excellent. Front desk was extremely helpful and very informative of the immediate area. Also arranged for a taxi cab making it very convenient to get around. This is not a place for walking to or from for 70 plus of age. Felt isolated from the city.

The property was close to the airport, the nearest transport was quite a distance and involved walking under an underpass. It was a little daunting at night. We can't comment on the breakfast as we had an early flight. We liked that there was a coffee machine and a choice of biscuits.

We arrived in Naples at 1pm and needed to fly out the next morning at 8am, so closeness to airport and quality of hotel was my top priority. I’ve been to Naples many times and know taxis are easily accessible. There is only residential around the hotel. So we dropped our bags and took our taxi to the centre of Naples, this was from airport and they waited 15 minutes so price was $40 euro. On the return taxi, was only $10 euro. Highly advise not walking to the centre. The owners of this hotel are absolutely amazing! The room we had was a quadruple, for myself , my daughter and son-in-law. Tons of room. I had a large delicious glass of Pinot Grigio for $5 euros. And the hotel is quite stunning inside and out, small quaint and peaceful, 5 minute drive in the a.m to airport which the owner arranged for us. Enjoy the city and sleep in peace and comfort.

While this property was by the subway, it was in the middle of nowhere, in a sketchy part of town. Our room smelled so badly of smoke, and the bed was rock hard. The breakfast was okay; traditional Italian breakfast offerings. The staff was very friendly, and the place was clean for the most part, aside from the mold we had in our shower. It was affordable, but I wouldn’t stay there again.

Breakfast was good. The area is a little shady, but yet again Napoli is not the prettiest city.
Its close to the airport by taxi in 10 minutes. I would not recommend walking around the neighborhood at night.

We had a very late night time arrival from Madrid. The flight was delayed by almost one hour so we got to the hotel at 11.30pm. The hotel has an arrangement with a taxi company to pick up and deliver clients from the airport to the hotel for 17 euros. When we arrived at Joyfull we were met by a very agreeable young man who checked us in with a smile.
The room is very pleasant with an outside patio and chairs that we will unfortunately not get to sample because checkout is 10am and we are moving on to central Naples.

We were allowed to check in at noon, they changed our room when our original basement room smelled too musty and damp and gave us a new one that was quiet and clean and nice. The location is in a regular-type neighborhood, and there is only the one restaurant nearby (menu is in Italian, fyi). It was very near the airport (about 10 min drive early the next day).

Absolutely nothing wrong with the hotel but the location was disappointing.
It was in a run down area of Naples and we felt uncomfortable walking around. Also we were informed when we arrived that the nearest restaurants were closed because it was a holiday. We would have eaten at our previous location had we been informed of this in advance.
However, our stay was only for 1 night and was conveniently near the airport for an early flight back the next morning.

Very clean hotel/room. Big, airy room. Weird towels - from cloth, not actual towels. Bed needs mattress upgrading. Wi-Fi not good, working very slowly. Service was OK but speaking English when you have such a business is a MUST and they spoke rather \"italinglish\". Location - close to the airport but in a very dirty and unwelcoming (to say the least) neighborhood. Breakfast - OK if you do not care about your glycemic index and if you're not vegan. If you are - no breakfast. Months in advance I wrote to the hotel saying that I am vegan and I would appreciate having fresh fruit. They never replied and there was no fresh fruit. Thus for a night's stay, close to the airport (having your flight the next day) it is a good hotel to stay. For more than that, no.

The Hotel was clean but a sewerage smell would go through every now and then . The area that we were in was disgusting (slums) and not able to walk near to do anything. We had the room near the front entrance and it was very noisy with the automatic doors opening and closing. People talking in the foyer all hours very loud.

We picked this hotel due to proximity to the airport because we had a very early flight. We had 3 rooms. Check in was easy. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The area was terrible. I would not feel comfortable walking up and down the street in the daylight, let alone the dark. The beds were not comfortable. The towels were strange and not very absorbing. Only redeeming factor is it’s close to the airport. If you can stay here for the night and not have to leave the hotel it is perfect

The Joyfull Hotel is a lovely oasis in Naples - the rooms are really good. It’s in a rather rundown part but don’t be put off. It’s within walking distance of the metro station (Poggioreale) which is only two stops to the main central station (Garibaldi). The staff were very helpful and friendly. Very good stay all round! We would definitely go back.

Hotel staff was very helpful in meeting us outside and helping with bags immediately upon our arrival. The room appeared well cleaned with clean bathrooms. We did see one dead beetle on the floor and a silverfish crawling on the bed. We checked for more bugs, seems that was it and our flight was early morning,so we were too tired to say anything. Good hotel if only staying for less than 12 hours. We asked for airport shuttle transfer, the night shift staff spoke of a shuttle to be arranged in the morning with morning staff. Come morning, it was not airport shuttle service, it was a cab that had to be called. Hotel is further than advertised, it’s close to a 10 minute ride with $17 euros.

Nice hotel shame about the area

If this hotel could be picked up and located in a better part of Naples it would do excellent business unfortunately arriving by bus we had to drag our case along a highway that had been used for fly tipping by 100 different people and not cleared also a local prostitute made use of a dumped chair as she plies her trade on the highway. In order to get to local transport it was a good 200 metres away throug a dodgy area unless you want to pay extortionate taxi fares having said that Giuseppe the manager was excellent and let me have use of a corkscrew and some ice as well as ordering us a local cab for the airport. As I said if this hotel were anywhere else I would recommend wholeheartedly.

We need a place close to the airport that was a reasonable price. Found the Hotel Joyful on hotels.com at a good price, met the criteria of being near the airport. Pulling up to the hotel I thought, what did I get us into, the hotel is in a rundown area. We were very surprised walking in. The hotel is clean, very well taken care of. The rooms were spacious and clean. The towels were paper thin but everything else was great.

Stayed here for4 days. Rooms are sound proofed. Friendly staff who speak English 😁. The room was comfortable and very clean. Unlike some hotels in Italy, the air con worked perfectly. Breakfast was simple, no fruit, no eggs. Oh well. WiFi worked well and the elevator was bigger than most in italy. It's noteworthy to state that I had access to a vehicle. Don't worry so much about what others are saying about the area. I didn't even use the private parkade and all was well. People in the neighborhood were friendly. I enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay here again.

The local are is very shady and it is in a bylane with a factory. The lane did not feel safe at all but it seems entire naples is like that so we cannot blame the hotel. The staff was ok and the food at the restaurant was average.

The hotel itself is really good, clean and tidy. With very friendly employees. The breakfast both days were amazing with all you can eat continental. Slight quibble when checking out though as reception said I had used the mini bar when I hadn’t so be careful with that. The area it is situated in however is another story. Quite run down with litter strewn all over the streets. Plus you will need to use public transport or drive yourself to get anywhere. Overall lovely little hotel but shame about the location.

We needed a place for one night and found this hotel on line. The pictures looked good as did the reviews.

We got there in the evening. The hotel is in a seedy area and we did not initially feel comfortable as we pulled up. In fact, we sat outside debating whether to go in. After 15 minutes of deliberation we decided to go in.

The staff was great, the hotel was clean and we had a very fine, uneventful stay. In a better neighborhood this hotel we wouldn’t have thought twice about staying. I’m glad we decided to stay!!

This is a classic “don’t judge a book by its cover “ situation.

Had a brilliant time on our long weekend. Staff were fantastic and the breakfast plentiful and varied. The room was spacious and the beds comfortable. The location is not to everyone's taste as it is in a grotty part of Naples but on the plus we walked to the metro each day which is cheap and gets you where you want to go from Naples city to Pompeii. It is literally 5 minutes walk away from the hotel.There is a fantastic local restaurant nearby and you are close to the airport. What's not to like. I would recommend this hotel.

Very poor public transport meant the last train back to the hotel was at 20.00
Impossible to get bus or taxi on Saturday night back to hotel, real nightmare.
The area was awful, although we loved Trattoria Da Alfredo.

Quiet and clean Hotel

The road leading up to the Hotel is filthy. At first I'd thought that I was at the wrong place. Once I arrived I was greeted by pleasant staff and a nice Hotel.
There was no WiFi in my room. There was a dog in the property next door who wouldn't stop barking. That was really annoying.

We only needed a hotel for one night before flying. The hotel was value for money and the reception staff particularly friendly and helpful. The only two draw backs were the area the hotel itself didn't feel safe at night and a distance from the city centre. Although a good location for the airport.

I thought the hotel was lovely however the area leading to the hotel was not of the best. We were told we could leave the car on the road for no fee having seen the area we felt this would be unsafe and had to pay an extra 20 euros to use the hotel car park on the booking it had said this cost was 15 euros.
The room was clean and very comfortable, and I would have liked to have had a tea/coffee making facility in the room.
The breakfast was very good with a good choice that suited everyone in our party of 7

Great hotel- horrible location- not for families!

As we drove from the airport the taxi driver told us the area was not nice and there were \"ladies of the night\" in the area. You could tell, very dirty, like in a movie, there was an abandoned burnt out car, \"ladies of the night\" and stray dogs roaming the streets, perfect setting for a gritty movie. As soon as you entered the hotel it was as if you were somewhere else! It was nice, room was very spacious & clean and the staff were very helpful. The wifi connection was fair. The taxi driver told us not to go out at night and so we didn't despite what the staff told us. We ordered in pizza from the hotel staff and it was excellent. Thankfully we were only there two nights and spent the whole day on an amalfi tour!! Pick up the hotel and put it somewhere else and it's fine.

Rough Location, Excellent base for exploring!

The direct location of the hotel is in a very rough looking neighborhood, however when we entered we were pleasantly surprised. The desk staff could not be more helpful. The beds are very uncomfortable, and the breakfast leave much to be desired, but provided basic sustenance.
It is however, a great base!
We did it all, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Mt vesuvius, Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi coast, Capri and Naples. The transport links from here are fab. And staff will help you with everything.

Not a hotel I would choose again

I realize that this was inexpensive, for the most part, however, I did expect it to be a bit more as was indicated on hotels.com and by the pictures that were included. The hotel is in a neighborhood that I would not recommend walking around at all. They do not have a restaurant on site, but will order take out for you, but they only have a menu from one restaurant...the food was average, at best. Their \"shuttle\" is actually just a taxi they call that charges more than you calling a taxi on your own. The wifi would only work on my phone and I couldn't connect my kindle. Of the few TV channels that came in, I had to watch Friends in Italian. I was so upset and disappointed, that I was in tears. I felt trapped as my flight was early the next morning, which was the only reason I chose this hotel. Next time I am in the Naples area, I will definitely spend the extra money and stay at the Holiday Inn.

It is a clean hotel and is easy to access by train transportation. It is in a very dirty non descriptive neighborhood which is not pretty. The hotel is near the train tracks and depending on your room can be noisy. The breakfast is fine.
I would recommended for a short stay only.

Nice Hotel just in the wrong part of town.

The picture provided on Expedia's website is very misleading. The road where it is situated is very off putting and we were advised by taxi drivers not to walk out after dark, which we did not. The hotel does not seem to be geared up for foreign tourists. The first morning we were asked to have breakfast in our room, we are of the opinion we were the only people in the hotel on Monday 6th February. The bar area is quite stark and not somewhere you could relax at the end of a site seeing day. There is no where to eat apart from in the centre of town or down by the coast, both of which are a taxi ride away. The staff were pleasant even though only one was really conversant in English.

We booked this hotel because it was close to the airport. They recommended the best Pizza place in the world to us. Da Michele. They also had a cab waiting for us right on time at 5:45 am as requested. The bed was very comfortable. Area was not the best, but we thought it was a prefect place to stay.

Reasonable hotel, poor room facilities, bad area.

Some staff are friendlier than others and make much more effort than others. Some speak good English, some none at all which can be awkward on the reception desk. The room facilities are basic but reasonably clean. My room had a missing shower door and the manager seemed to think that was perfectly normal and acceptable. Taking a shower therefore was taxing to say the least trying to avoid completely covering the entire bathroom. There are no tea and coffee making facilities but the cleaning staff are excellent and make every effort possible even though they speak no English at all. The area is shockingly bad to say the least. For an idea take a look on Street-View. The photos of the hotel have clearly been taken very carefully to avoid any of the surrounding area.

Bad location

The owner or manager was not pleasant or helpful. He was always on the phone making guests feel like they were a nuisance or intrusion. The remaining staff were pleasant. Breakfast very disappointing, no fruit, little bread, or anything to be honest. The location is in an industrial area with absolutely nothing around and a walk from the bus or street car. No air and the rooms were hot, you need to open and window and then it is loud. Beds super uncomfortable.

Nice Hotel close to Circumvasuvia Station.

Close to the Station two stops to Garibaldi then change trains for Pompeii, Vesuvius and Herculanium. This Hotel has great staff really helpful and willing. Only downside is you are on the outskirts of Naples and there are not many restaraunts about. Up side we had a view of Vesuvius from our window.

Hotel will order pizzas for you which you can eat in your room. We eat out during the day and picked up snacks and beers for the evening from the supermarket near the station. The area did not lend itself to a night time wander. Lots of graffiti in the area, but that goes for the whole on Naples.

Upon arriving at the Hotel we were relieved to find that it was very well maintained clean and attractive. We soon settled into our spacious airy room and later were directed by the very helpful staff to the tram stop. It was a ten minute walk and ten minute ride to the center of Naples and a one euro each for a ticket. Although suitable restaurants were scarce in the hotel area, we were lucky enough to have been recommended to Alfriedo`s a trattoria just three hundred yards down the road. The food was superb,. the decor charming and we were made to feel very welcome by the lovely lady who owns and runs it.

We had a great stay the hotel was clean, room was clean, staff extremely welcoming. Tried their best with speaking english and we managed well to communicate. I would stay here again, we had a great time. The wifi worked perfect in all parts of the hotel, i dont have anything bad to say

Nice hotel but not a nice neighborhood

The hotel and my room were a pleasant surprise for the price, the staff were very friendly and helpful. It was conveniently close to the airport but I wouldn't stay there if you wanted to walk around anywhere, it's a slummy neighborhood. Good value though for just a night before a flight out.

Excellent hotel, easy access to public transport.

Highly recommended. The hotel is lovely and very clean. Nice breakfast selections. A bit far from the city center but it is ideal for travelers who stay out all day sight seeing and want to have a relaxing night in. The chicken place around the corner has the most delicious roast chicken I have ever tasted. Friendly people.

DO NOT DO IT

I would not recommend staying at this hotel. We had an early flight and wanted to be close to the airport. Our taxi from Rome couldn't find the place and they would not answer the phone. Then they told us we had to pay in cash yet they did not let us know prior to arrival. It was a 60 euro taxi drive to the place and it would have been cheaper to take a taxi from Rome the next day. Also when we got there the curtain rod fell off the wall. There were other people living in the place that were up late yelling while we were trying to sleep. Save your money and the hassle and just stay in Rome that night.

Hotel too far away.

Disappointed with location of hotel. Too far away from attractions. Located in a dirty, industrial area. Garbage on streets. No restaurant in hotel. One cafe and one trattoria a fair walk from the hotel. Not safe to walk around. Unbelievable how much garbage was on the streets. Busses and trains far away from hotel. You need to call a taxi. Taxi prices differ, same distance. Would not return to this hotel.
