The staff were really professional and helpful with any questions I had, polite and no language barrier. Restaurants were top notch and the servers went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. Beautiful pools with pool bars made it to easy not to enjoy yourself and the beach was out of this world with enough shade from the palm trees and plenty of chairs for everyone. Rooms were very clean with daily maid service and refreshments stocked in the mini fridge. Overall, it's just a perfect place to let the stress out and relax, I have been there four times now and can't wait to return!

I loved everything about the property. Easily walkable and so beautifully thought out.

All the staff were very helpful, attentive, and friendly.

The pool was a nice enough temperature to cool you down but not freezing, and it was so expansive there was room for everyone. It was nice to see them cleaning the pool throughout the day to keep it as fresh as possible.

Our room was perfectly presented, clean, and had everything we could possibly need.
We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and so my husband and I were given a room upgrade, which made our stay even more outstanding, but we were even treated to champagne and chocolate strawberries on our arrival and on our last evening we were gifted more treats. We couldn’t have felt more special.

Our first time visiting Barcelo Maya Riviera- Adults Only resort and I have nothing but good things to say about this resort. From the rooms to the service, everyone was welcoming and eager to help out with anything we may have needed. The staff is extremely hard working and quick on their feet to clean pool/food areas to make sure the area is spotless.
Location: Upon arrival the views are breathtaking, from the rooms to the pools and beach; everything was stunning and so clean. The staff are up early in the morning to make sure the sargassum is cleaned to make the walkway to the ocean more clean. The resort was so clean and I have nothing bad to say. Housekeeping was excellent with making sure our mini fridge was stocked with water, beer, etc.
Staff: The staff was excellent, they made sure we were good on drinks/food at all times anywhere we were at in the resort. Everyone was so friendly and greeted us as we arrived and departed.
Restaurants: We tried all four restaurants at the resort and by far our favorite was Agave (Mexican). We at the Agave taco bar the first night and everything was excellent. I will say, the menu is different than table service but still fantastic and many options to choose from. We had table service at Agave our last night and everything that Omar recommended to us was excellent and our best meal of the trip. Facundo was also excellent, and made sure to check in on us if we needed anything else from more food, drinks, etc.

If you are looking for a peaceful resort, good food and attentive staff, this is the place for you. Modern architecture, open spaces, clean amenities. My favorite part was definitely how everyone is there to help, serve and make your stay as comfortable as they can. You will find servers everywhere bringing you food and drinks. This resort does not bring party vibes, even at the pool we had a quiet environment, but if you want a louder resort, you can definitely catch that at the properties around. Having the option to go to the other resorts is definitely a bonus (but we mostly stayed in property).

They work all night to make sure there is no sargassum and our 9 days were spent enjoying the bluest water ever!! The rooms are spectacular and the bed is to die for. We can’t wait to be back!!

This was our fourth time a Barcelo Maya Riviera. The room is great, the staff are great and we thought the food was excellent. The taco bar at Agave is a must! The pools are huge and there is plenty of space so that you never feel crowded. The facility and grounds are well kept. And as a plus, there are several great cenotes across the street within walking distance. My only suggestions for improvement is that the entertainment is a bit hit and miss. And it would be nice to hear some chill island type music during the day by the pool. Also, not sure what happened with the house wine selection since our last stay, but the house white wine was really poor quality. A nice Sauvignon blanc should be able to be stocked pretty cheap. Not sure what they were serving but it was almost unpalatable. Overall though we love it there and will be back!

This is a fantastic hotel with great staff. The view, the food, and the staff were phenomenal. A breakfast at the buffet, followed by a walk and yoga with Fanny and Biene was a great way to start each day. The restaurants were all high quality and a great way to end the day. The bartenders were were all friendly and top notch.

The only negatives were that our room on the 2nd floor smelled musty, and they didn’t provide any lotion on the hotel as an amenity. Be sure to bring your sunblock/aloe/lotion since the charge is extremely high in the gift shop. This is a small issue, however, to a wonderful stay.

Overall, we had a relaxing stay and appreciate the attention staff and beautiful pool. I was sad to leave. I hope we can return to this beautiful property some day!

We had a lovely time, we received a room upgrade and a delicious welcome drink upon arrival. Check in was quick and easy, the resort was breathtaking when we arrived. The lobby is massive and impressive, we arrived at our room which was beautiful with a giant king sized bed and ocean view. The resort itself is stunning, the pools are huge with plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. The restaurants are all stunning, the food was great as we are vegetarian they tried to accommodate us as best as possible. I have to say this was one of the best buffets I have ever been to for breakfast and lunch. Unfortunately the beach at the resort was unusable as there was a giant swath of seaweed washed in the day we arrived. You are able to use the beach at any of the other three Barcelo resorts, we ended up using the beach in front of the Grand which was beautiful and clear of seaweed and magical snorkeling.
I will say there is not enough staff for the lobby bar during the evening, there is no drink service at the pool or beach, there is no lotion in the rooms. Staff tries their best to provide the best service they can however management should consider hiring adequate staff for the large resort. I would definitely recommend this resort.

It started a bit rocky, my room was at the end of the longest hall way in the world, and when I tried to call the front desk no one answered. After having to make 4 trips back and forth ( it was a 20 min walk round trip) I was over it. Luckily, they switched my room , closer and a working phone so all was good
The resort is gorgeous. Super clean. The fact that you can walk down the beach and jump in the water and snorkel with fish and giant turtles is amazing..
Mini golf, go carts, tons of things to do.
The food for an all inclusive was great, I had amazing French, Japanese, and Brazilian Steak house

One tiny thing i found to be obnoxious is that by 9 am all the chairs had towels on them.. I am an early riser so I am on the beach by 830 so I found that to be kinda rude. but thats it
The thing that stood out to me was how hard everyone works. Each morning the staff spread out on the beach and comb it looking for trash, there is a man in his clothing in the pool scrubbing away, they rake the seaweed by hand and machine, there is always someone with a mop or a broom , someone is always polishing.
At 930 at night, there was a man painting a sign..! That to me is what stood out

Despite a frequent problem in all the resorts with Seaweed issues this time of year… the staff did a good job removing as much and often as possible.
The food is excellent, The property is lovely. We have been to Barcelo Riviera Maya Palace numerous times. This was our first time to stay at the adults only location. We will definitely come again and again. Very safe and relaxing.

I visited Barcelo Maya Riviera in April of 2026. The pool was very large and never felt crowded. The food at the buffet was amazing. They serve breakfast and lunch and an early dinner as the buffet closes at 6pm. So either have an early dinner or visit one of the many à la carte restaurants. The restaurants were all very good most especially le Comedie the French restaurant. The rooms were very spacious and king bed was bigger than a king lol it was huge. The staff were amazing This is a trip I will never forget.

We had an excellent stay. It's a high end resort for sure.
We could always find some great food and it was nice to be able to book an a la carte restaurant experience for each night. It was difficult to reserve some restaurants though so book the ones you want as soon as you can. The short rib beef at La Comedie and Rodizio were the best items I ate all trip. La Dolce and the taco bar at Agave were excellent as well.
The beach is nice, getting chairs and towels for the beach and pools wasn't as big of a deal as some people say so I wouldn't worry about that. I even managed to win some money at the casino at the mall on-site.
Everybody who works at this resort is super friendly and helpful, they have a wonderful staff and provide a nice experience. Sarah, Ireli, and Regina were excellent Barcelo Life workers who provided a genuine, fun experience pool-side so I thought they deserved a shout-out. Juan was my man for providing freshly made Omelettes during the breakfast buffet and tacos for lunch at the Mirador buffet. The Pastore tacos were nice and you could add fresh toppings and spicy salsas if you like. Ice cream was nice at the buffet as well I had a very nice server at the Mirador buffet during lunch named Maria.
The rooms were very nice and big and had great air conditioning. We will definitely miss the bed in our room which was super comfortable and seemed to be a California King, it was so big. You can get any high end alcohol that that you seek.

We recently stayed at the Adults Only section of the Barcelo Grand Resort and it exceeded all our expectations. By choosing the AO, you receive access to all other hotels within this “community” that has a mile of beachfront and is landlocked with no public access, making it feel very private. The à la carte restaurants were all very good (my favorite being Sapporo which is a Japanese restaurant), room service was good and the buffet provided lots of options and were decent as well. You can also eat at restaurants and buffets at the other resorts as well, but we did not. We chose the premium option which I felt was worth it for access to the premium lounge areas. Everyone we dealt with was very friendly and helpful. The beach area is huge and chairs were always available on the beach when we were there. The pool was a little harder to find chairs if you aren’t out there early, but that would literally be my only complaint of people saving seats and never showing up. We were there mid-April and the sargassum (seaweed) is definitely there, but they do an amazing job to keep it as clean as possible. It varies day to day depending on the winds and weather, so just keep that in mind. However, you can usually walk a little further up the beach within that mile stretch and find areas with no seaweed. There are good areas for snorkeling and swimming in the ocean as well as a pier to walk out on and see the sea turtles. I could go on and on… we’ll definitely be back!

Pool chairs reserved by guests very early in the morning. All cocktails in the pool bars are made with artificial sugar, which we didn't care for. Food at buffet had a lot of variety but wasn't great, but could always find something. Thoroughly enjoyed the coffee options. The pools were large and lots of fun, however the ocean was rocky and a bit treacherous.

It's a fantastic all inclusive hotel. The buffet food is excellent, the drinks are good (mid shelf brands are used). The restaurants are good too, we'd recommend the Mexican and the French ones. The Italian was mediocre. Kyoto, on another territory, was great.

The rooms are fantastic, well lit, modern and noise proof. The jacuzzi on the balcony is perfect for couples. For us, the mattress ante pillows were very comfortable. The wifi works perfectly well, almost no dead zones through the whole territory.

The staff is really good, always attentive and courteous.

The beach is great, with clear water, but there are some rocks. However about 50 per cent is rock free, and of course one can use the other Barceló hotels beaches also, by walking a hundred meters/yards, and they're great too.

The gym is small but good, the classes were very good too.

The folks staying at the hotel are mostly Americans, middle-aged and older. They're generally calm and polite, with some standard exceptions, of course.

Some things need improving, such as towel policy on chaise longues, the tvs in the rooms are old and cannot stream or cast. Some people bring their portable speakers to the beach, there's no enforcement against that. The Jaguar disco is bad, with mostly youngsters from other hotels, the night entertainment could be a little better.

To sum up, we liked the hotel very much, it was totally worth the money paid.

I had high hopes for this resort. I have been to several other resorts in the area (Dreams, Rui, etc.) and had very good experiences. What immediately struck me upon arrival was how unhelpful the staff was and they definitely acted very nonchalant about assisting my fiancé and I with getting accommodated after a long day of travel. I would describe the front desk, valet's, and reservation desk as very lackadaisical. When you arrive, you must make your dinner reservations (which took 1.5 hours) or you will be stuck eating quite possibly the worst buffet food I have ever had. It was the same level of quality as an average public high school's cafeteria food. Sapporo was definitely the best restaurant on the resort and after trying the mexican one there and la Fuente, we did not dare venture from it again. Walking to your room does feel like walking into a psych ward, very bland decor, no life. You do have to pay extra for room service as well which is the first all inclusive I have encountered that with but maybe thats normal but was disappointed with. The room did have a jacuzzi which was very cool and clean, I thought the room was very nice but my couch was wet for some reason and smelled of mildew. The pool and beach were absolutely beautiful but do not expect good service from staff while out there. They definitely do not treat you as well as other resorts Ive been to unless you tip consistently well. Would generally describe the staff as incredibly lazy. 6/10

Everything about this resort was beyond my expectations! We booked a premium level swim up room for 5 days and 4 nights. Upon arrival we were greeted by the very nice and courteous bell service men. Went straight to the premium level lounge to check in. It was fast and easy and even made our dinner reservations right then and there. Rooms: 9/10 clean, always stocked up, no dewy smell like you get with most water front properties. Staff: 10/10 did not encounter one rude staff person. All were very kind. Property: 10/10 absolutely beautiful! There was never a spot I didn’t see workers cleaning or fixing things and never saw them getting in the way or closing of areas. Spa: 10/10 had a massage and body wrap! 100% worth it! And last but not least!! Food: 20/10! The food was always fresh yummy and hot!! The restaurants were top tier! We never had a bad dish and if we didn’t like it the waiter or waitress brought us something else. Thank Barcelo Maya Riviera for making this one of the best trips ever!! I hope to go back one day!!

This was our first time staying at the Barcelo Maya Riviera. We're happy to say that it exceeded our expectations.
The staff are so kind, friendly and accommodating.
Pool and beach access are very easy. The areas are very well kept and clean.
We were so impressed with the cleanliness of the resort and its grounds. Well done! Our room was beautiful and room service was excellent. Our ocean view room was on the second floor, which was not the best as we were not high enough. Aim to reserve on the third or fourth floor if this is important to you.
Typically there are no dinner buffets, only breakfast and lunch. Make your dinner reservations as soon as you check-in as times fill-up very quickly. The 4 restaurants on site are excellent. Very well done, and architecturally beautiful.
Not worth leaving the resort to venture out to the adjacent Barcelos. This is the best one. The mall is mediocre. We tried the Uspa, and loved it. Highly recommend.

We were a party of six and our stay at the Barcelo Maya riviera was superb. The modern minimalist design appealed to us as the rest of the five hotel complex looks old and dated. Our ocean front rooms were on the highest floor and had an awesome viewing incl of the sunrise. The huge Rooms were new looking and well appointed.
Buffet meals at Bf n lunch were excellent! And all four specialty restaurants (Mexican n Asian n Italian n French ) offered refined and delicious dining choices. Make sure you book your reservations for these on arrival.
We loved all the massive pools as well as the great gym. Jonathan checked us in n out n he was so good n helpful to us.
The short walk from BMR to the cenote Azul close by was also worthwhile.
Highly recommend this resort esp if you r Expedia VIP as you will have extra perks n treats.

This hotel was a swimmer’s paradise. Probably one of my favorite things was swimming when it turned dusk and watching the stars come out from the infinity pool. Also thanks to my Expedia status, I got upgraded to an ocean view. AO was so nice and this hotel was the best in the resort. It is also home to the best 4 restaurants! I didn’t want to leave the Riviera Maya Hotel and I want to go back.

The rooms are older and starting to show their age. Discolouration on mirrors, toilet flush mechanism missing decorative part. Everything still works fine though. Their idea of a Garden View and not the best either (dilapidated old buildings in the forested area) but I didn’t go there to stay in my room so not a huge deal either. The food was good. Love the spa. The employees were all friendly. So overall a 3.5-4 star review overall.

The pool is wonderful!!! Clean rooms!!! Staff 👎 when you go to the buffet is a lot of “managers?? they don’t notice that you there no hello no eye contact lack or smile no interaction with guests. My husband ask for 3 strawberries and the guys denied because he needs the strawberries to make shakes. At the pool they offer drinks very rare if you are in the pool you need to go and get your own drink. The resort is great but the stuff needs a lot of customer service.

I recently stayed at Barceló Maya Riviera and overall had a good experience, with a few important downsides. The room was absolutely amazing — modern, clean, spacious, and very comfortable. The resort itself is beautiful, and the activities were a huge highlight. There’s plenty to do, whether you want to relax, explore, or stay active. The pools, beach, and entertainment options were all top-tier.

However, the biggest disappointment was the food situation. The restaurant reservations were almost always full, making it very difficult to get into the specialty restaurants. On top of that, the overall food quality was not great, and the daytime options were especially limited. There wasn’t much variety during the day, which got repetitive quickly.

If you’re someone who prioritizes room quality, resort amenities, and activities over food, this is a great place for you. But if dining is a major part of your vacation experience, just be aware that the food options may feel a bit weak.

Overall, it’s a beautiful resort — just go in with the right expectations.

Location on the beach, jacuzzi, clean room, very good bed, even though you can smell the humidity in the room. Very well organised. Magnificent pool and beach. Plenty of activities. A bus can transfer you all between the different Barcelo lobbies (there is 4).

the property is kept immaculate and the staff was very friendly. The restaurants however have many issues. The Japanese restaurant was terrible but the waitress was worse. She had no way of describing the menu and I had the worst meal of my stay. The Mexican restaurant was wonderful. The waiters had a clear understanding of the menu and were able to help me decide what best to order. None of the restaurants (expect the Mexican) were great. Based on the reviews I was expecting a much better experience

It has a beautiful beach and it is clean and well maintained. But it was too big and cold for my taste. And the service is very slow during busy times. Our check-in was painfully slow. And we often had to wait for drinks with only one bartender serving a crowd.

The beach was greatoin the adults only side but be careful walking into the ocean there are lots of rocks. The pools are great but you have to get a chair at the pool or beach by 7:30-8:00am or it’s impossible to find a chair. The rooms were big and clean but you can hear everything in the hallways and doors slamming.
