The property was very clean and all of the staff were so friendly and polite. The facilities are great wish we had a longer stay to be able to utilise everything. We will definitely be returning. The only criticism I have is that the decor in some areas and in our apartment was quite dated. But that isn't a deal breaker

Lovely hotel and lovely, welcoming staff, great value for money with an indoor and outdoor pool and jacuzzi. A little dated but this added to the charm. Only negative was that the beds were too hard. Amazing location and gorgeous views. Would definitely go back.

Oh gardens are very lovely I would mention that if you prefer to leave you car at the hotel it is about a 15 minute walk into town. Until we met the cleaners - they bothered to talk to us and the guy in the swimming pool area was really friendly and seemed to want to work. The shower was broken and the toilet wouldn’t flush in our room. We didn’t have enough towels for our family.

Only stayed for one night but it was just over half the price of the local Premier inn and I was given an apartment not a room, pretty clean with a sea view and plenty to do there although I didn't have time to use any of the amenities. Free parking on site and a decent restaurant, Only thing is it's a pretty old hotel and looking a bit dated and tired but not really an issue. I will try to book this hotel again if I am in the area in the future.

1980s time capsule deco
It is time capsule hotel is great for the enthusiasts of the 1970s and 1980s deco. The hotel establishment needs a proper refurbishment, its \"leisure club\" shower area is full of mould, each hotel corridor has a different type of musty odour. It is all very shame as the location and views are great, the hotel staff trying to their best to accommodate the needs of the mainly senior customers.

Booked this last minute as British weather is very unpredictable. Very pleased to get a genuine sea view room. The location of this hotel is great for the seafront and promenade and the gardens are lovely. The hotel is a little tired and smacks of past grandeur but for the price you can’t complain. The staff are great and the atmosphere very relaxed. The only issue really was the evening dining where there is only an hour and a half for ordering and one guy had to do all the bar and serving. He was very good but a lot of people gave up and went into town when you would have thought the hotel would want the money. The food quality however was great and the breakfasts in particular were splendid. Would definitely come back.

I had an early arrival in Exmouth and they kindly offered to keep my luggage until later that afternoon. The room was comfortable with the things that would usually expect to find, television, kettle etc. The room was clean apart from a few old marks on the carpet. For once I had a shower that was easy and safe to use, my only recommendation would be the availability of a non slip surface for the bath.
There was parking provided but I would recommend care, one vehicle outside the front of the hotel made it impossible to use one entrance due to the short length of the parking space, though there were clear signs on the building warning of the length of the spaces.
I didn’t use the bar or gym and so cannot comment on them.
Generally, not modern or luxurious but I would recommend this hotel to others.

The hotel is a little tired. We had worn carpets and old fashioned decor in our room/suite. However, it was cheap. The staff were helpful. The gardens in great shape. The outdoor swimming pool the absolute best. They are closing it for winter next week. There is an indoor pool with sauna, steam room etc, that all looked great, but I love swimming outdoors.

Booked last minute....we only live an hour away so booked at 12pm was at the hotel before check in, we could park our car in the carpark until we returned later.

The hotel has beautiful, well-kept gardens and really good leisure facilities. It also has off-street parking which is a bonus in Exmouth, plus the sea front is within walking distance. Although the price paid represents excellent value for money, as i only booked a basic room + en suite for i night, and was surprised to find we had been allocated an entire suite with lounge, kitchen 2 bathrooms balcony and sea view. staff are very friendly and service was great. my only reservation was the suite was very out of date, and appeared not to have been updated since possibly the 80's at best, and many parts of the hotel are in need of updates, renovations etc. apart from that a lovely stay

Bodily fluids & bugs.
When we unfolded the sofa bed, which our son was going to use to sleep on, there were a number of stains on the mattress. These appeared to be as a result of various types of bodily fluid. The room seemed to have an high number of insects flying about. Also, as soon as the sofa bed was fully unfolded, three beetles emerged from it. Needless to say we were disgusted. We packed our bags, informed the receptionist (who didn’t seem to really care) and we left. This was at approximately 11:00pm and we a 3 hour drive home. It was that disgusting we were still prepared to drive 3 hours home rather than sleep in that room. Easily the worst hotel experience we have ever had.

It is a wonderfully old-fashioned hotel with a lovely garden and excellent location on the coast. The breakfast room staff knew their job well (better than in many five-star hotels!) and did it with nice attitude. My room has left a conflicting impression: breathtaking views and decent bathroom on one hand and disappointingly dirty floor and some furniture, scuffed wallpaper on the other. I wish the rooms could be upgraded gently, without destroying the charm of the place.

My room was stuck in the 80's. It was truly awful and my shoes stuck to the carpet. Water didn't quickly drain from the shower or sinks, the sofa was threadbare, the carpets were garish, the kitchenette cupboards didn't fit squarely and I couldn't open the drawers.
I didn't want to touch anything in the kitchen and certainly wouldn't have used the utensils or provisions to prepare anything.
I could also hear someone in a neighbouring room on the phone - I could hear every word they said.
I will not be staying here again.

Great stay at the Devoncourt Resort Hotel
We had a very lovely stay at the Devoncourt Resort, the rooms are very comfortable, staff were very friendly and very helpful and pleasant, we had a delicious cooked breakfast, the indoor pool was very good and the outdoor pool was amazing , overall could not fault this hotel

This is an excellent hotel. Our room was large, comfortable and clean. The staff were nice and helpful. Dinner was OK, breakfast was great. There is a fitness room and an indoor pool with warm water. The lawns and gardens are beautiful, with palm trees, a putting green and croquet course (equipment provided). I highly recommend this place.

Our stay was excellent. All of the staff are friendly and helpful, nothing is too much trouble. Yes, the hotel is a little dated, but that adds to it's charm. The room was spacious, warm and comfortable. The restaurant served well cooked, hot food at breakfast. We ate in the restaurant one night and again the servand food was excellent.

We waited at the desk to check in for a while despite trying to get the attention of somebody in the office area. A member of staff came in from outside and asked if we were being helped and then checked us in. The heaters/air conditioning unit over the hotel entrance could clearly be heard in our room and kept my partner awake for much of the evening, at least we believe this was the cause. The room was comfortable and the breakfast very nice.

The hotel needs completely modernising but the excellent staff and customer service totally made up for the for the 1980s throwback condition of the hotel and I would stay there again.

The staff were all a great credit to you. The hotel is old and it shows but room spacious. Grounds lovely. Parking is tricky and not easy to use as spaces are designed for minis. Breakfast was very good well presented and cooked. Enjoyed my stay here and use of the pool.

Our 3 day stay started with a surprise as we were given a suite rather than a double bedroom and this included 2 bathrooms. Bedroom and living areas were a great size and comfortable with a bonus being a small kitchen area. This proved very useful as my OH had a foot injury and we had dinner and lunch one day in our room. The fridge was a blessing. Everything was very clean. The room is looking dated and would certainly benefit from an upgrade, particularly a new carpet, but this did not spoil our enjoyment. A bulb was missing from above our bed which was reported but not replaced before we left, but as we had the living area for reading this was not an issue.
The included breakfast was excellent which would only have been improved for me by the addition of latte with hot drinks selection. Everyone we came into contact with from the bar staff, pool chap and staff on reception always made a point of greeting us and that made us feel very welcome. The pool was lovely and warm and jacuzzi was very relaxing. Views onto the garden from both the pool area and the bar/restaurant were lovely. I had the chance to wander through the grounds too which are protected from the winds and used the private gate to access the beach road - the proximity to the beach is fab. We will certainly come again for the views and hospitality at The Devoncourt.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our time in our 5 night stay.
Without argument the property requires a serious investment of capital if it is to remain a viable hospitality concern. I understand the property on the market.
What was also clear is The Devoncourt has a community presence, as we witnessed many locals either meeting or using the leisure facilities.
What made The Devoncourt work during our stay in our view is the staff. We did not meet one staff member who did not help us in some way. It is clear staff multi task around the property, enriching their skill set and giving a better understanding how to help customers.
The leisure facilities were fine for our purpose. The outdoor pool is a picture setting.
The grounds are evidently well tended to by the grounds staff.
The bar staff were very friendly. Connor and James in particular made for good company and service.
The food was good overall. Breakfast offerings absolutely fine with friendly team.
Bar meals were also good, as was the afternoon tea.
Our 2nd floor 2 bedroom apartment was fine. Everything worked and was clean.
The view from our room across the gardens to the sea was great.

Mini break
Just had a one night, spur of the moment stay at Devoncourt. Booked a double, sea view room, and got a double suite, with sea view and a small balcony too! The room was huge and had a large sofa plus a kitchenette with fridge, microwave and toaster. The furnishings are a bit dated but spotlessly clean with great storage and a very comfortable bed. Breakfast was buffet style, continental and cooked and was great. Although we had to check out at 10 30, we could leave our car in the car park and still use all the facilities. So after an open top bus trip to Sandy Bay we had a final dip in the warm outside pool, bliss, before we headed home. All in all, a great mini break and we will definitely be back. I should add all the staff we met were very helpful and friendly.

Until we got inside it - and Our View was a long surrounding Brick Wall !! Dark , back to the 80s Decor , filthy carpets with a tear in the Sofa Bed - Tiolet handle which Twisted Around , Kitchen was going back in time to when i was a Child ( im 52)!
Went back to Reception , asked wether we could change our room - as paid £84 for the night ( we arrived 6pm)
Both Refused said there was only one directly above ( so meant still looking at a brick wall )???
There Manner was a blank expression ! And said they would refund if i wanted to go and find other hotel ?? Bad Attitude !
As we had been travelling all day !
And looked like we was sleeping in the car at this time !
We both thought ( lets just get some sleep as out of here first thing ) to a much Posher hotel in Exeter .
Anyway during the Evening , we heard a loud buzzing Noise ! For it to get louder and louder - we went into the bedroom - and above the bed the pipes were making the worse vibrating, noise imaginable!!
It was 11.30 - yet again down to reception !
This time a Male Receptionist- told him, he came and listened shugged his shoulders - we said we cant sleep in there - yet again moved rooms ( so was other spaces) room was no better

Devoncourt Resort
Generally good although reception was surprised to see me (at 9pm). Afterwards they called me back to reception to question my credit card, before realising they had mixed me up with another guest. The bar and restaurant area was as quiet as the dodo, and the surrounding streets and the promenade were devoid of any food and drink outlets. So it was an early night with a bag of peanuts (roasted, at least). However the room and bathroom had good sea views, and was very comfortable and well fitted.

If you like huge rooms that haven't had an update in about 40 years this is the place for you. The bed was comfortable but the the couch wasn't. The cushions were torn and the and you could feel the frame on your bum when you sat down. The bath room was tiny and the bath room suite was green. Its unusual that the bathroom would be so tiny when the room was huge. Breakfast was fine, nothing amazing but did the job. Parking was limited, had to park on the road one of the nights
