I feel I overpaid for the room based on the following:

Room was not clean. Sheets had dirt on them and the walls in washroom area were greasy.

Shower was missing glass and it made a mess while showering.

No breakfast was included even at this room price.

The breakfast buffet was amazing! 10/10

Super dated room. Bathroom looked like it hadn't been renovated since the 70s. The room smelled of sweaty feet and wouldn't air out. Popcorn ceiling and walls with no decorations made it look slightly more cheery than a jail cell. On top of all that, the walls were paper thin and you could hear everything your neighbors were doing and when they were walking on the floor above. Would never stay here again.

The hotel was out of town which was fine lovely and quiet the breakfast set up was excellent and the the whole facilities and the staff were also excellent , the bar should have stayed open abit later for guests as after 2 hectic nights out we needed a drink or a coffee to relax after the eagles nite as the city transport back to hotel at 11pm it’s a shame that was very stressful but the hotel was very nice and we all enjoyed our stay

The room and bathroom are very spacious, but it's time to renovate the rooms and furnutures. TV has very limited channels. Poor room and bathroom amenities. Make sure you scan the var code to get all hotel information as soon as you check-in. I wake-up one morning and call for room service breakfast, but they didn't take my order, because I had to select my order on a piece of card and hang it outside the door before 2AM. On our last stayed, we were wake-up by loud bangs on the roof. When asking at reception, what is all that noise that is coming since 7am from the roof, they informed that they were busy with roof repair. There was notification in advance to inform of this maintenance activity. After staying at Van der Valk Eindhoven best, that was so nice, I had the same expectation for this hotel and it was a disappointment. It was loke comparing a 5 star with a 2-1/2 star. The are is quiet in a remote area, with nothing at walking disstance.

Disappointing based on our previous experience.

Family room I'd booked was being referbished so down graded to a room with a put me up bed for my daughter and they gave us complimentary breakfast to make up for it (this was pre arranged) . To be honest we stayed in the family room last year and it was more like a suite and the room we had was OK but it was a big downgrade compared with the room we had last time. Then when we got the bill the tried to charge us 15 euro for a put me up bed for my daughter which was disputed and taken off the bill. Went for a meal and although the food was OK the service was shockingly slow and they bought out the wrong meal for my daughter. We complained at the end and they removed her meal from the bill. They also tried to charge us 5 euros for tap water, again this was disputed and removed from the bill. We toured around the Nederlands for 5 nights and this night was by far the most expensive and based on our previous experience of this hotel, was also the most disappointing.

We had a great stay. It was even better that the kids had there own room. The breakfast buffet was amazing. So much to choose from. Dinner choices were superb. And the drinks from the bar as well. The bathroom was nice and big. Excellent when you travel with more people. Beds were comfy. Nice surroundings.
Only thing that was negative was finding a dirty sock, dirty thongs and jewelry that didnt belong to you.

shuttle service needed

I was there for an event in the olympic park. I would like to see the hotel provide a reliable shuttle service to events in the park. When I suggested this to the reception, they claimed it was up to the event. I disagree. As an accommodation to the more than 75% of its guest, they should provide this service. Also, I asked the hotel phone operator to connect me to the room of another guest. She would not connect me unless I had the room number in addition to the name of the other guest. This requirement summed up the attitude of many of the staff. #who is the client? #service? Did not appreciate police conducting alcohol breathalyzers on every patron leaving the park. Back to point A, why aren't they providing a shuttle service?

Room was decent size with a good bathroom but came with its own supply of ants which took away from my stay a bit.

The receptionist was friendly and helpful. I have backache issue all the while & the mattress in this hotel is considered soft & worsened my backache issue. Other then this, the hotel is well located and its 7 km away from the Hoge Veluwe Park & Kroller-Muller Museum, a must visit in Arnhem

Perfect hotel for our short stay

Comfortable and relaxing. Good restaurant. Breakfast had reasonable choice of hot and cold food. Room and bathroom were spacious and modern. Staff were pleasant and helpful. I travelled with elderly mother who found hotel met her needs. Ramp access into hotel and lifts helped but she still had to negotiate steps from lift and a heavy fire door to reach her room on first floor. Might be a problem for people with mobility problems. Overall we were happy with hotel for our short 2 night stay.

This is a good hotel, well located for the Arnhem area. We had a completely blocked shower drain and it was clear within an hour of me reporting it without having to move rooms.

The hotel is a very good hotel with all the amenities your require and close to Arnhem and Oosterbeak. The only thing that lets the hotel down in this modern era is the WIFI. The WIFI is in the reception but as you move away from the reception, it peter's off to nothing within 10 metres or so.

Best choice for Papendal and Arnhem

Fantastic hotel idea for all our sport at Papendal national sport centre. The breakfasts are casual and very rewarding. With something for even the fussy ones. Evening in the restersunt is equally good.

Good hotel for exploring Arnhem area

We had a lovely stay in July 2015. We used the hotel as a base for exploring the area. The hotel was easy to find and accessible by road and bus. The reception and restaurant staff were welcoming and all spoke very good English.

We found our room to be spacious and well appointed. Our family room comprised a lobby area with WC, main double bedroom with bath and shower room and a separate room with two single beds which was perfect for travelling with children. Both rooms led to a shared balcony area. (There were locks and a safety chain for anyone wondering about travelling with young children). Tea/coffee making facilities, toiletries and towels all provided along with a digital safe and plenty of storage.

The restaurant was excellent. The dinner menu was varied and delicious as was breakfast (breads, pastries and cereals, cheeses, salmon, meats and salad, yoghurt and fruit in addition to cooked items).

I would definitely return to the area again; some wonderful places to visit including the Hoge Veluwe National Park, Burgers Zoo, Openlucht Museum, Arnhem War Museum etc and the hotel was a great base to relax after a busy day.

We were in the basic \"comfort\" room which lacks air conditioning. In July the room was unpleasantly warm which made sleep difficult, and with a communal balcony and proximity to a noisy main road, leaving the balcony door open was not really an option. Other than that the hotel was ok.

Perfect location for our needs

The Van der Valk was chosen because of its location. Our plan was to visit the areas in and around Oosterbeek associated with the Airborne landings in WW2. We arrived at approximately 2.45pm, which was just as well, as this Hotel is extremely popular with none residents taking lunch, and so there were parking spaces available as Diners left. It also has facilities for company meetings, so again in the morning the car park fills quickly, although that said, there is parking available at the rear of the hotel which always seemed to have a number of bays available.
Our room was situated on the upper floor, and so was away from the hub-bub of the car park. We were advised to book at table for Dinner, but on neither of the two days we were there was the restaurant full. However, I can imagine at weekends and possibly more into the Peak Season it would be advisable. Staff throughout the hotel very friendly and helpful, would certainly stay at this hotel again if in the area.

lovely hotel, excellent location for Arnhem.

travelled as a family, with two boys aged 9 and 13. Children had own adjoining room which they loved! Fantastic bathroom, biggest bath my young son has ever seen! Excellent food, very large portions and a suitable childrens menu which even filled my 13 year old.
Convenient for Burgers Zoo and the town of Arnhem, easy access to motorway for Eurooport.

Good despite major refurbishment

The hotel is undergoing a major refurbishment which made it quite a trek to get anywhere from our room but that aside, it is a good place to stay.

We ate in the restaurant for dinner and the food was very good, though the atmosphere was not especially formal.

The room was great but given the size of the bathroom, the size of the shower cubicle was tiny and there was no lock on the bathroom door.

Breakfast was good - lots of choices and this was probably the first time in years I've been happy to pay extra for a breakfast. Orange juice was freshly squeezed - always a good sign.

The hotel is quite a way out from anywhere else so if you plan on leaving the hotel you will have to drive. I would happily stay here again.

Very convenient hotel for Volendam etc, and Amsterdam. Bus from the gate, half hour journey, fare10 Euros to save parking and hassle in the city. Hotel excellent, staff top class, food very good indeed and not too expensive. Would certainly return and highly recommend this hotel.

If you are staying in Arnhem and have a car or don''t wish to be too central....this is the hotel for you!..Lovely rooms, nice and friendly staff, very good breakfast. I believe this hotel is used by the Dutch Football team when they are training....so you it ain't a Travelodge! Only negative, would be it is a little too remote..however, would make a nice romantic overnight stay. Very pleasant stay.

Tijdens het diner wat onervaren personeel. Geen bordjes bij het voorgerecht, geen lepel bij de appelmoes. Ook moesten we vragen om een kinderstoel en werd de gewone stoel er evengoed tussen gelaten en niet weggehaald waardoor het krap werd aan tafel. We misten echt gewoon een beetje gastvrijheid en enthousiasme van het personeel om er voor ons een leuk verblijf van te maken. Alsof ze er geen zin in hadden.

It’s a great hotel, very spacious rooms, nice interior design in the main entrance and areas, the whole vibe is luxurious and modern. The beds are comfortable, the personnel is friendly and professional, the food is really good. Then the area around is so beautiful, definitely go to park de Hoge Veluwe and take a bike, or go for a hike. Stunning!

Buitenkant ziet er nog oud uit qua vorm maar goed onderhouden. Binnen is alles modern en netjes. Prima kamer met zeer ruime badkamer (junior suite). Zeer gemakkelijk dat er een restaurant en bar aanwezig is waar uitgebreid kan worden gegeten, zowel avondeten als ontbijt.

Great hotel with super service and great food
Room were big but furniture very old ( not as the photos shows) bathroom big but there was a step up to the bathroom which was not nice, also there was no toilet bucket close to toilet. It was under the sink.
We could go from our room to outside which was nice since we had a dog with us.

La personne à mon arrivé est non professionnelle. Elle m'a laissé prendre l'ascenseur pour aller dans la chambre sachant qu'il faut descendre. Les personnels ne sont pas accueillants. Je suis déçu à cet hôtel et je pense ne plus revenir mais j'essayerai d'autre Hotel Van des Valk car l'hôtel est pas mal et uniquement les personnels qui cassent l'image.

Helemaal prima! Ook heerlijk gedineerd en ontbeten. Vriendelijk personeel.
1 puntje van kritiek is wel dat de schoonmaak wel eens onder het bed mag stofzuigen. Onze telefoon viel tussen het matras op de vloer en deze lag vol met kruimels van een gast voor ons. Dat vergetende, een prima verblijf gehad.

De kamer was ruim maar over de muren en de grote muurposter zaten allemaal vegen en spetters. Geen afvalbakje en handdoekhaakje op toilet. De douche is aan de verkeerde kant gemonteerd waardoor de hele badkamer drijfnat is na het douchen want er is geen deur of gordijn. Restaurant slecht, duur met kleine porties. wijn pas na je voorgerecht, geen lepel bij pasta, zoeken naar personeel en geen enkele keer gevraagd of wij nog iets wilden drinken. Frietjes niet gaar, pannacotta nog bevroren…

4 persoonskamer. Naast 1 dubbelbed staat er een te klein stapelbed. Noem het dan een 2 persoonskamer plus 2 kleine kinderen. Bediening restaurant spreekt amper Nederlands. Deuren, terras en onder bed was het echt smerig. Onze kamer 308 bevond zich op rookvrije gang. S’ avonds kwam de rook van joints uit andere kamer onder de deur van onze kamer. Receptie gaf aan hier niets aan te kunnen doen. Vergane glorie.

Kamer schoon, keurig onderhouden, wel licht gedateerd. Faciliteiten in de kamer zijn sober maar in perfecte staat. Wifi in de kamer is zeer stabiel en snel. Bedden zijn van hoge kwaliteit. Inchecken verliep niet zo soepel en kwam wat onpersoonlijk over. Restaurant: Service bijzonder vriendelijk en warm. Ontbijt (2x) zeer goed, ook voor kinderen. Diner (2x) viel wat tegen. Niet altijd lekker op smaak of goed klaargemaakt (Entrecote en tonijnsteak medium besteld, maar waren veel te lang gegaard (gemiste kans). Zalm sashimi te grote blokken. Specerijen ongebalanceerd. Kindermenu’s daarentegen uitgebreide keuze, goed klaargemaakt en mooi op smaak (ook voor de kinderen).

Old hotel. Bar was already closed when I arrived at 22.50. I only use it when a really need to be on the outskirts of Arnhem. Luckily the price is relatively cheap. Perhaps they realise that the cannot ask more for it. The van der valk chain has much better hotels.

Goed bereikbaar, mooie omgeving en net gebouw, vriendelijk personeel en super snelle bediening.
We hadden de luxe wellness kamer, maar vond deze er niet luxe uitzien. Slechte lelijke overgordijnen. Gat in de bank die tevens slecht zat. En vond het sanitair echt niet schoon. Vlekkerig en spinnenweb. Karig interieur voor zoveel geld. Had hier meer van verwacht!

Hotel in mooie ligging. Genoeg parkeerplaatsen. Hotelkamer lekker ruim en schoon. Supervriendelijke personelen. Binnen hotel genoeg te doen zoals cafe en wellnes. Echt een fijne hotel.

Prima verblijf in goed hotel

Prima hotel. Goed restaurant alleen staat van kamer wel echt verouderd tov andere van der valk hotels. Douche heel erg krap maar locatie perfect en zeer prettig verblijf met goed bed.
