Front-desk staff was so friendly and helpful! Loved the amenities available in case you've forgotten something. The hotel is a great efficient and inexpensive option for business travel. Breakfast buffet is an excellent deal for the money as well. All of my basic needs were thoughtfully met. Francisca at the bar was lovely, too!

The location of this hotel was great, very convenient. That’s where the positives of this trip end. The staff were not very helpful and seemed to have an attitude when asking if it were possible to accommodate my needs. Late check out costs extra, a conference room costs extra, coffee costs extra-no coffee maker, microwave, nor cold refrigerator were in the room. Breakfast even costs extra. Felt like I was nickeled and dimed for the most basic of requests. WiFi was spotty at best. Some of the channels available for streaming were also spotty. The walls are very thin, I was woken up by people letting their doors slam shut several times a night and by the next door neighbor at 3am engaging in adult activities. The “bathroom” in the room had a toilet that was so low it is hard for people with disabilities to use. The shower door wouldn’t close and leaked water on the floor outside of the shower. The bathroom door its self did not fully close. For a Marriott affiliated hotel I was quite disappointed by this experience.

Overall, the hotel was a wonderful experience. It was clean, modern, and well-appointed. I'd stay again.

However, I need to address something that gets overlooked in hospitality design: the bathroom lighting. Like many new hotels that embrace contemporary aesthetics, the lighting over the sink is functionally useless for dark-skinned guests. The trendy backlit mirror and cool-toned LED strips may look sleek, but they cast deep shadows on darker complexions, making basic grooming, shaving, skincare, and makeup application genuinely difficult.

This isn't a minor inconvenience. It's an inclusivity oversight. Someone with skin like mine simply cannot see their face clearly enough to get ready properly.

To hotel designers and procurement teams: representation matters at the decision-making table. Before finalizing a lighting package, test it across a full range of skin tones. Warm, diffused, front-facing light works for everyone. These contemporary fixtures do not.
The hospitality industry is overdue for this conversation.

This hotel has very small rooms. If you are not use to using electronics (iPad) for your everyday things (lights, tv. Etc) don’t stay here. The checkin staff was very helpful but the bar staff were.very slow. If you wanted ice or water in your room you needed to go to the bar. No wash clothes in your room.

This is a great place to stay if you're going to visit the museums, it is centrally located and you can walk everywhere even to the Warf. The breakfast might seem expensive but overall, it was worth it not having to go to Mc Donalds.

This hotel is well located and is a great bargain for DC. The room was clean and comfortable. I was traveling solo so there was just enough room for me. I do wish there had been a coffee pot in the room. My biggest complaint is about the staff. They were not friendly and made no effort to be engaging. The only exception was the young man who worked the front desk in the morning. Someone needs to remind these people that they work in the hospitality industry and that occasional small talk goes a long way. Questions were answered in monosyllables and smiles were rare.

very nice stay, this is my second time staying at a citizenM in DC. this time we wanted to be closer to the museums and this hotel did not disappoint! we were like a 5 min walk away and then the metro was right next to the hotel. will be coming back !

Expensive for a continental breakfast, rooms are European style and very small. The room we had the air conditioner was not able to be adjusted so they gave us a fan. Didn't really help. Changed rooms same issue. I will say the staff couldn't have been nicer, they were vey friendly and more than accommodating.

The rooms are ridiculously small. You do not have access to both sides of the bed; must crawl over one another to get in/out. Their is only a cooler in the room, no fridge. Their was no ice bucket to get ice for the \"cooler.\" The toilet was almost in the shower. It was so bad we got a refund and did not stay there

Good for one person or a couple for a night. Obviously the position of the bed is awkward if someone gets up in the middle of the night. The room is small. They use iPads to control the things in the room. We told them our heat wasn’t working and they said it appeared it was on and didn’t accept when we told them it was cold. Our room barely had hot water or water pressure in the shower. Again, fine for a night because of the location but wouldn’t stay there longer.

the bar buffet for breakfast was excellent,. When I booked I did not get the complete bedroom idea. I thought we had the bedroom with more space, the bed stuck with only side to go in was a problem , and I could not upgrade to the wheel chair room.

This didn’t get 4 stars mainly due to the amenities. The “breakfast” is a pretty typical continental and at $22/person was a bit much in our opinion. The sushi bar on top was pretty decent food, but also pretty expensive and it took quite a long time to get any one to serve us as well as get any of our food. We went late at night and they were not packed or busy. Could have been low staffing, but it took a long time for three sushi rolls. The view was phenomenal from the roof though. And the rooms were really clean and for being so tiny, they were spacious where it mattered. We loved being able to control everything in the room with an iPad so we never had to get up to do anything (perfect for our lazy trip). The iPad even had alarms that we could set up that would slowly turn on the lights and open the blinds and play music, which was a phenomenal way to wake up instead of using loud annoying alarms. They even have chromecast on the TVs so we were able to set up our Netflix and watch our shows. Overall we would book again if we came to DC again. It is a very quiet and seemed very safe neighborhood as well. Not walking distance (at least for us) to anything, but like scooters seemed to be parked near by a lot and Ubers were super easy to get.

The room was extremely small, wife said we have had bigger rooms aboard cruise ships. It was SO small the bed was crammed in on three sides, my wife had to climb over me to get in and out of bed. The bathroom was glass walls/glass door that did not properly close - poor privacy. The bathroom did not have a fan so odors were not contained. There was absolutely no water pressure-the shower just dripped.

The staff for the most part were not very friendly. At check in and during our stay with the exception of Meca, a bar tender, she was GREAT!

The room was controlled by an iPad that kept pinging during the night, I had to unplug it to stop the pinging.

The climate control would not allow the room any warmer than 72 degrees F, wife was COLD!

Housekeeping was not on a daily basis, which was fine but the day our room was to be cleaned, my wife was in the bathroom so the maid just swapped out towels. Ten minutes later, I called the front desk to let them know we were leaving and housekeeping can clean the room. They NEVER returned that day. The garbage was overflowing and the toilet paper was almost depleted.

I tried to request housekeeping the next morning via the iPad and it said I had to request it by 4:00 a.m.

I spoke to Jamile (sp?) at the front desk and fortunately, he arraigned housekeeping to come.

The positive is convenient location to L'Enfant Plaza Metro station and walking distance to the Capitol Mall.

My wife said \"NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN\" and I agree!

This is a very internationally inspired hotel. Our room, with a king bed was TINY. It was smaller than our cruise ship cabin. It was exactly as wide as a king mattress is long. The bed was sideways at the end of the room, meaning one if us had to crawl over the other to get in or out of the bed.
The bathrooms was also tiny and enclosed in glass so that all of your suite mate's bodily functions are on display. Very little storage, one chair and a small bench for sitting.
On the other hand, the hotel was newer, clean, and quiet. Breakfast was good. Lack of on-site parking was not. Very convenient to the National Mall.
Be aware and forewarned.

No one is available to assist with any issues. Booked a refundable room and flight was delayed. They gave room away even though it was paid for already. No room when arrived. NO one available at property it work through issue. Still have not refunded the stay. Hotel is fine, if very small, if you don't have to actually contact staff.

Room was clean, bed was very comfortable and the location was great for the Museums and the Wharf. The rooms were small but a) we knew that going in and b) we re only in there to sleep. I will say the tablet controlling everything in the room was really cool, and fun. Breakfast was decent when it was availible. Bacon and sausage pots were either empty or gone. It seemed a bit unorganized. The staff was the staff. Not all seemed to be interested in their job. Smiles were rare. About 60/40 with the 60 being positive. The cleaning staff was great, and very helpful when we needed towels, pillows, etc. Security was on point. Rooftop Bar is a must visit, especially at night. All and all it was a great weekend. Really dyug the concept , the off the wall decor and comfortable vibe.

This hotel is great. Lobby area has two huge relaxing areas with tvs, computers, couches, tables, comfy chairs with a nice museum feel. Rooms are cozy, a bit small, but super modern. All lights(to include color settings, mood settings, bathroom lighting), tv, blinds are controlled via user friendly ipad. One click... mood set with colored soft lighting as you see fit.
Rooftop has a great view and an indoor/outdoor sushi restaurant 😋

Gave it 4 stars because I don’t think it was a good fit for my wife and I. Staff was great, everything was clean, however, the ultra modern design didn’t mesh with my travel habits. Very few flat spaces to put things, room was definitely designed for a single traveler, not a couple. Bathroom enclosure was awkward and strange, had to go to bar to get ice, and not so much as a complementary cup of coffee in the morning. Interesting, but not my thing.

The hotel is in a great location, very close to the National Mall. We stayed 3 nights, issues we had, shower temperature is either scolding hot or cold nothing in between, the room climate control did not allow to the temp roast 75 degrees and it was freezing in our room. Lastly the tv is wonky, when you change the channels it’s delayed by 7 seconds to see the next channel and tv would randomly black out. The staff were friendly but nothing above average. The rooms are small but adequate, bed was comfy.

I love Citizen M thanks to their amazing team of people, who truly make you feel so welcome and at home. On this visit Mecca was amazing. She handled two issues that I had with my reservation while also doing a great job welcoming all of the arriving guests and handling multiple other things at the same time - all with a warm welcome and a smile for everyone she encountered.
