I had a private villa with pool. I think it was located next door to family villas. Therefore it was loud in my opinion for most of my stay. I wouldn't stay here again, but it's preferable for those from India.The location is good on this side of the island.

BEST hotel I stayed at during my whole trip to Bali and near by islands. The room was beautiful and the entire location is perfect with 2 pools as well as beach access. The staff is so kind, attentive and helpful. They go out of their way to be helpful and even help you book other activities. Would absolutely stay here again. Ivan and Ruly especially were so helpful in the office and we even extended our stay with them.

This property is lovely, nice big rooms, the outdoor bathrooms were fun. The hotel has a very large pool, and three smaller ones, a spa, bike rental at a reasonable price. All the staff were really friendly, always said hello or good morning/ afternoon when passing, the hotel is opposite the beach which has great sunset views. We ended up extended our stay 2 extra nights due to the boats not running due to the weather and the staff helped us arrange an extension easily. Lots of good food options nearby and outdoor cinema slightly further up on the beach, really enjoyed our stay here.

Hotel is ok, but you can tell that condition is going down. Also, happy hour food is not good, we order chicken wings and came literally 2 pieces of wings. Also, I believe they should be clear about distance by bike from port and the fact that it is ok to bike ride from port, as when I tried to contact hotel they just tried to sell their pick-up service with horses, which is super cruel :(

We booked a Villa with two bedrooms and a plunge pool. The place was very well cared and maintained.
The villa felt very relaxing and we easily rent the bikes to go around the island.
Food was lovely and staff very friendly.
Highly recommend Ombak Sunset.

Front beach resort hotel. I had a free upgrade to a Vila and it’s amazing, you have a small private pool. The hotel is in a very good condition and all employees are very nice.
The only thing that doesn’t work super well is the WiFi, but it’s still okay.

My husband and I were travelling together. This hotel is a little further away from the night market so it was a little quicker than some of the other resorts which was nice. The staff were amazing and so friendly!
We ended up extending our stay a night and it was super easy to do on the app. Breakfast was really good they had a buffet with lots of options.

The property was great. Good food , helpful staff. Front desk service was excellent. At the spa they advertised chin and lip wax for $10 but the lady charged me $20. Although it was only $10 it seemed deceitful.

The island itself has so many people you couldn’t ride your push bike down the road. Just too overcrowded in the street and at the port for me to ever return

Nice place for the money

It was nice however it wasn't the cleanest of rooms. We had a Lizard friends that joined us in the room and there some bugs. Sunsets were beautiful, and it was a hike to the busy area of the island. We asked for bikes but they didn't have any. There was hot water and an outdoor shower which was nice better and better than other places we stayed on the island.

Paradise at Ombak Sunset

We arrived to a very warm welcome. The beautiful hotel had suffered badly in 2019 with the earthquake and they have done amazingly well to get it back to its former glory. The staff are warm and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. We had five days here and wished we could have stayed another five. The hotel is situated in a prime position to see the sunset. The pool is as warm as a bath and such a leisurely vibe about. The gardeners work very hard to make sure the place looks like the tropical paradise it is. We stayed in the garden bungalows which are amazing like being in your own private Balinese house. The outside bathroom is lovely but as we are there in the rainy season of course there are many mozzies. The hotel sprays regularly and provides insect repellents and plug in . Breakfast was varied but would have preferred to be able to make my own tea as I found it too weak and tasteless. I had my own tea bags but no hot water I suppose I could have asked but really boiling water is necessary and it wouldn’t have been boiling if they had to bring it to me.

I stayed at this hotel on a recommendation from a few years ago and sadly the hotel facilities were not as I had hoped. While I can see that the location has a lot of unrealised potential, the price to stay here was not reflective of the current state of the hotel. We were very disappointed that there was no restaurant on site and the bar was only open by the pool. Since there was little to do around the hotel, we rented bikes from the hotel to get to the other side of the island where all the restaurants, scuba diving and snorkelling tours leave from. The \"road\" is in very rough shape, filled with potholes and is shared by bikes, pedestrians and horse buggies, and it is not lit should you brave riding your bike at night like we did! All in all it was quite the experience on Gili T!

I like the atmosphere and the hotel design which is so comfortable and luxury but the location is a bit too far from the island center also there is a lot of mosquito especially in the opened roof bathroom style so they should have some mechanic to prevent the mosquito and other insects.

The hotel is nice, the beach is not private as mentioned in Hotels.com. It was full of people from outside the hotel and many people selling things and offering pictures and excursions. Not the best experience when you want to just relax on the beach. Breakfast is really bad and the service also. Please see the picture of a dead mosquito in the cheese during breakfast.

Do not stay here. The staff was very inattentive to any of our needs. The resort itself is overrated and overpriced. It is far away from the central area. Arriving there we expected to be attended to, but ended up having to do things our selves such as fetching pool towels. The staff weren’t very friendly nor welcoming. The room itself is in dire need of renovation. The closet doors and cabinets were falling apart. The beach itself was disappointing. There was coral everywhere and the only reason the resort is popular is due to the beach swings which are open to the public. Overall, please save your money and stay at another resort.

The hotel has an amazing pool and the views are breathtaking, we got a very spacious private bungalow which was very comfy but had an outdoor toilet and shower which was cool during the day but a little scary at night! The beach is stunning but it all coral so be careful with your feet and you can’t swim in it. Quieter side of the island so nice and romantic

Did not realize this hotel was waaaayyyy on the other side of the island from where your boat launches. It’s a quiet side and nice sunsets but pretty far from the main drag and activities and difficult to get a horse ride past 9pm. Definitely too dark to walk or ride a bike. Nice pool and staff are VERY friendly and accommodating. Had a two room villa and the rooms were clean but personal pool was very dirty and had to ask to have it cleaned which did not occur until the second of our three day trip. A lot of construction going on, walls are VERY thin and while the room were clean they are poorly constructed, sink and toilet not glued down, poor water pressure, AC was not very functional but worked better after we closed off one room. I would def go back to the Gil Islands but think I can get more for the $$ i spent elsewhere

We had a very bad experience with this hotel. We booked this hotel after another hotel canceled our reservation due to the earthquake thinking that it was not affected by it since they did not post anything on their website or contacted us prior. When we arrived at the port, we had to pay 300k for two horse carriages to get to the hotel. The hotel was located on the opposite side of the port, which we knew in the beginning. However it was very disappointing to see everywhere in the hotel under construction, even the swimming pool and spa were. There also was nothing nearby, so if we need to go out, we would either have to ride a bike or take a horse carriage again. I was traveling with two elderly who neither knew how to ride a bike. The rooms were also really dusty due to the construction. The only good thing about it was they upgraded our room to a family villa suite, which included a mini pool, but it was not big enough to swim around. Later after dinner, I called the front desk and asked to check out earlier and she said she would need to ask the manager who was going to be in in the morning. The next day I spoke to manager Edy. He was okay to let us check out early without penalty, but he could only provide one horse carriage to the other hotel. We needed two since we had a lot of luggage, but he said they only have one on site, so it's either we had to pay for another one or take turns. I felt like we overpaid for this hotel for so little amenities.

The hotel staff were very friendly and the hotel had everything to hand including transport to the other side of he island. The hotel needs upgraded, the rooms have baths instead of showers and the water is brown. The doors to the rooms did not shut properly meaning Gecko’s could get into the room at night. There is no lifts in the hotel to the upper floors but hotel staff helped carry everything up and down from the room at check in and check out.

Is a good place to stay and stay away from crowd. A bit far from terminal, around 30 mins walk, 20 mins cycling, a bit scary while cycle when sun goes down because of lack of street light all the way through. Only horse carriage and bicycle as transportation. Remember to have lightings while cycling for safety reason.

The hotel BBQ on the beach was a scam. The buffet was empty. The meat portions extremely small and overcooked. But the life music was fun.

Overall, I would expected Gili to have a more lively scene. Everything was dead after 9pm.

Nice hotel with beautiful sunset views

Hotel is located at the west side of Gili Trawangan island. It takes about 30 mins walk from jetty at the east side of the island across Jalan Vila Kelapa, or take the horse cart from jetty which would take about 15-20 mins cost IDR150,000 for 1 way.
The room is very spacious, I guessed we have been upgraded to the Island Bungalow room type though we booked for Deluxe Terrace room. Very comfortable bed but the lighting in room is a bit dim and aircond is not strong enough. The shower and toilet area is at the open but secluded yard, was not too comfortable when first used it in such an open area for shower/ toilet but later on like it as it's spacious area with fresh air.
The breakfast is nice with good variety. Swimming pool is fantastic with the flat 1.5m deep and big pool.
The hotel beach front has a few swings facing the view of Mt Agong in Bali. The view is magnificent at sunset time and many people will go there to take pictures on the swings with the beautiful sunset view. There are horses for riding on the beach too.
Good choice of hotel if you like quiet place for relaxing holiday.

Amazing Time!

I lovvvvvved my experience on Gili T. The staff and room were amazing. Spa was on point and reasonably priced. Great view of the sunset (and sunrise even though we were on the opposite side of the island). It was nice not being by all the partying but easily accessible by horse and carriage or bike. Yoga was just up the street. I would definitely come back and stay longer.

Amazing hotel- definitely recommend

Beautiful hotel with incredibly friendly staff. The location is perfect as away from the party scene and able to watch a lovely sunset on the beach opposite the hotel. Great selection at breakfast, they offer everything you could think of. They also offer complimentary afternoon tea daily. Easy to rent bikes for approx 75k for 24 hours. Only complaint was that we got bitten by mosquitoes a lot in the bungalow we were staying in. Not entirely sure how they were getting into the room. I would recommend the hotel put mosquito nets around the beds to avoid this happening to future guests. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

The place was nice, quiet, nice staff, food was ordinary and as is often the case dead restaraunt as it was way over priced. As usual (and I don't know why?) the extras (bike hire fir eg was inflated 50% go down the road 200 metres and it's cheaper, go up the road 200 metres and you get much better food at a lesser price. I'd stay again but they could indulge their guests With market rates fir add ons (incl beer at double the reg price).

Failed to Impress, No Value for Money

We faced many issues with Ombak Sunset during our 3-night stay in five rooms.

1. All rooms had a very small air-conditioning unit that failed to cool the room, resulting in terrible sleep. The rooms don't even have a ceiling fan.

2. Lizards, frogs and mosquitoes were in the room almost all the time, especially in the bathroom.

3. The drainage system in some rooms wasn't working properly and water was constantly getting clogged.

4. They charged us for a cooking packets of noodles after the kitchen was closed.

5. ONE NIGHT, A LARGE PORTION OF THE BATHROOM CEILING IN MY ROOM FELL ONTO THE FLOOR. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS USING THE BATHROOM AT THE TIME OR THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN GRAVELY INJURED.

6. Most Gili island visitors rent bicycles for transport from the place they stay at. But Ombak's bicycle rent rates were double that of the regular rates around the island.

7. When prompted (well in advance) to bring us Horse Carts to take our luggage to the boat port, they reacted very lethargically and delayed us.

For all the problems we faced, the staff was accommodating and after a lot of coercion, offered to change our rooms or give us one free breakfast. There was no point in changing the room since the air-conditioners were equally small in other rooms. We took the breakfast but the staff was often rude and irritable about it.

We expected Ombak Sunset to have the best of facilities and luxury since the prices were on the higher side. But we were extremely disappointed.

Moments of excellience followed by disappointment.

The hotel and location was beautiful. Was peaceful after coming from Kuta, but the service certainly changed. Ordering a drink we were waiting 10-15 minutes at the bar just for a beer (often warm). 2 of the 3 nights we stayed I had to call reception to have towels sent up as they didn’t replace free taking them from the room. We had the occasional power surge on the island (which is understandable) but this would shut off the air cons in the room so constantly returning to or waking up in a sauna. We ended up checking out a day early and heading back to Kuta for the extra night.

Staff was kind. The breakfast was pretty good, and I loved the eco-friendly shampoo/soap bottles in the bathroom. The shampoo and soap itself also smelled really nice. The air conditioner in our room didn't work great, but it wasn't unbearable. Our laundry was also nearly 2 hours late getting back to us after the hotel had it for over 24 hours, which caused some stress on the morning we left when we were trying to check out and make our boat back to Bali.

Overall Hotel was clean, gardens maintained very well, room was clean but bathroom needs an upgrade as it looks a little tired.

Highlight of our trip

Our time at Ombak Sunset was amazing. We spent 1 week there and it was perfect. The hotel rooms were lovely, the pool is fantastic, as is the poolside bar and service. Hotel is just across the road from the beautiful beach - we had dinner on the beach restaurant many nights. The staff were what really made it such a memorable stay. They were so friendly - remembered our names from day 1 and were always very cheerful and helpful. ATM, Pharmacy, bicycle rental and an office which arranges excursions (snorkelling and diving) onsite which was so handy. Also just a short bike ride from the busier part of Gili T. I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Good location but service of staff very poor- obviously not well trained as they were very pleasant but didn’t really know what they were doing. Air- con very bad. Utilities in room poor- nowhere to hang towels until we asked for a rack. No drinking glasses until we asked. Great potential!!

Nice Hotel , but food and drinks very bad

the hotel commodities were god but the service was only ok, The food and drinks (cocktails)were terrible.i ordered a Prawns salad with avocado and a chicken tika masala , I've got 2 PRAWNS!!! the avocado was hard a a rock and the salad was just Lettuce!!! The tika masala was tiny the chicken was all skin and fat mixed with cartligde and the rice was dry and undercooked , the cocktails where even worst, the CAIPIROSKA was some kind of lime syrup with some lemonade drink(sprite??)and a couple of lime wedges the looked already used in others dinks it was warm and sever in a small ugly looking glass , all drinks were weak and badly presented , and to top it off , is was hard to get a cold Bintang,!!! they called it cold when it was only WET!!!!

Quiet stay in the west side of the island

I was quite disappointed when I first arrived at the hotel when I found out that it is not possible to swim in the western side of the island due to lots of rocks. But I soon found out it is much quieter to stay in this side as the eastern side is very busy and noisy. The staff is very friendly, but their English needs to be improved. The bed is very comfortable and the hot water won't run out too soon.

Great Service on Quiet, Sunset Side

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Ombak Sunset for 4 days, 3 nights to attend a wedding (the wedding was also held at the hotel and they do an amazing job, far exceeding anyone's expectations). We were met at the fast boat drop off area by a representative of the hotel and then took the horse and cart to the hotel. Check in was quick and easy and the staff were very nice.

Our hotel room was very big and clean. The bathroom is outdoors as advertised. This was nice in that it was kind of relaxing, but when needing to prepare in the heat of the day it does stay quite warm.

The breakfast in the morning is very nice and stays open until 10:30am which we appreciated. The food rotated which we also enjoyed for staying three nights. It appeared based mostly around Western tastes.

The beach area is nice, especially the swings, around sunset. The hotel is located on the western side which is far away from the busy bars and restaurants. We were happy to stay in the quieter area. The only disappointment was that the water in the ocean stays very low for most of the day and you have to go out about 100 meters just to get to waist-deep waters. Also there are rocks in the shallower waters, it is hard on the feet.

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Ombak Sunset. The rooms could use a bit of updating as we had a few things looking a kind of warn in our room but nothing major to distract from our stay.

Excellent Hotel!

Me and my partner stayed here and the hotel exceeded our expectations! It was amazing! The hotel complex is stunning the gardeners keep it spotless and work really hard. We stayed in an island bungalow and it was beautiful. The staff are a credit to the hotel and made our stay really enjoyable. The sunset outside the hotel is the best I have seen well worth moving over to the beach from the pool around 5.30pm ready for the sunset. The hotel serves afternoon tea around about 4.30pm which is a nice touch. The cleaners leave the room spotless and are so friendly. Every staff member treats you like royalty. I couldn't compliment this hotel enough.

They have nice pool but their beach is just to take pictures not for swimming.
Their food was not impressive. Breakfast was just ok. Room cleanness is good. However, in my room there were more than 5 lizards which had me to change my hotel without any refunds.
Their location is on the other side of the island. So it is very quiet and it good for the people who want to relax. Difficult to find taxi and their Wi-Fi is slow.

Lovely resort for families/couples on west side of island. Ask hotel to send horse cart (approx $10 USD) upon ferry arrival because 45 min walk on cobblestone and sand path to hotel. Bring a flashlight to light path in evenings to go into town. Rent bikes from hotel for $7 USD/ day
