Nice main building situated on a large property with a lot of walking area and great views.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable.

Obviously a lot of effort has been made by the new owners to create a comfortable and upgraded environment. They are working hard and constantly on what was obviously a worn down building. Looking out from the room the gardens and view is spectacular. The room was large and comfy with great, instant hot water and lovely deep bath. Authentic home cooked curry was delicious.

A Quiet Getaway

This is our second time of staying in the Beggars Reach Hotel in Burton, Pembrokeshire, South Wales.

Both times was to visit family and friends who live in Pembroke Dock, Saundersfoot and Haverfordwest (Hence we enjoy the quietness when back in our room).

We arrived about 8 pm and given our keys prompt. The room was big and spacious with tea making facilities (If more was needed you helped yourself opposite reception in a little container).

Bathroom had a shower in the bath with all products that would be needed in dispensers on the wall. Towels were provided.

We both chose a cooked breakfast with toast. Lots of choice for a continental breakfast as an alternative or alongside a cooked breakfast which my husband had (A healthy appetite). It would be nice to have gentle music playing in the background when having breakfast which breaks the silence when having couples on each table, you then can talk in private.

There is no entertainment of the evening and a long walk to the next village so you will need transport to go anywhere especially if you want to go out of an evening.

Yes we would stay there again.

Hotel has nice ambiance, for nature lovers, room was tidy and clean, reception check in and out was straight forward. Only thing is if you are vegetarian or vegan breakfast choices could find limited. You need your own car to travel in surroundings, can can work out expensive for back and forth.

There were cobwebs in both rooms. First room i was given had no hot water so after reporting it, 30 mins later I was moved with no offer of help to move my belongings. The second room was lovely and able to have a hot shower. The bed had a big divet as it was 2 singles pushed together, not an issue but a bit odd. Then the window...it was hot with no AC so had to open the window which opened inward and came across a 3rd of the bed. I had to duck to get both to and from my side of the bed. Food was lovely! Staff were nice. The decking out the back was VERY soft in places and should be addressed.

The landscaping was fabulous and lady on the bar was wonderfully helpful when she was there. I understand it was mid week so minumal staff but the dealings I had were positive.

We had an excellent 4 night stay at Beggers Reach. The room was great, the staff very friendly and professional and non intrusive. The cleanliness was outstanding and we've stayed in a lot of hotels. We ate at the hotel nearly every night and the evening meal while basic was well presented and well cooked. The cooked breakfast was ideal for us. We've booked to go back in July.

AWFUL-DO NOT STAY HERE!

My family have been staying her since the 1980s and it’s fair to say it’s gone down hill ever since the current gentleman took over. The new owner (not sure of his name but he’s a tall gentleman). When we went down for breakfast he kept saying to other members of staff “just smile and ignore the customers”. He has absolutely no people skills, he is just rude. He came over to us whilst having breakfast to tell us how his sun was graduating as a doctor but he hadn’t been invited. He had no interest in his customers, just wanted to talk about his life. When we came back from being out on the water all day he would make us walk around the desk to get our keys for our room as he couldn’t be bothered to get up off his chair. We came back at 9:30pm one night to be told we couldn’t order a drink from the bar as it was closed, basically because he couldn’t be bothered to serve us. He and another older man would sit behind the desk in the evening doing morning and expecting the customers to do everything themselves, it’s disgraceful. On our last morning there was a man that went to complain about his room because the TV didn’t work. Which was understandable. His solution was to ask the man, and his family to leave the property. When questioned he said I’m kicking you out because you’re not happy, everyone in the restaurant area heard this. The food was awful, the rooms are dirty and outdated with the TVs not working. Such a shame but family will never be coming back.

Not clean, in urgent need of decorating and modernising, apparently the owner had sold and had not spent any money on the place in months, which is no excuse when he still takes bookings at the normal rate, would never recommend or stay there again, locally it is now known as not the place to visit apparently, we had chair fall apart, bedside cupboard wobbled dangerously, no heating been on for a while in our section we had to phone and wait for them to eventually sort this, but it obviously worked because it was fine for rest of stay, but had not bothered to turn on in advance,

On arrival was informed that they cater for banquets and not independent guets. Should I want to eat there were several pubs or restaurants in the area. They would cook breakfast thou. Th accommodation smelt damp and the aerial on the blink. The decor is very tired. This cold be a lovely hotel
With some serious investmentnt but as it it should be na Ed beggars belie. Went to the bar both evenings before z10 and it was.closed. Not
A 3 star standard. The breakfast never have I seen large boxed cereals on display on an unbranded. The welsh breakfast consoisted of one commercially produced deep fried sausage. Two rashers. Half a tomato mushrooms and an egg My colleague a vegetarian. Was told no vegetarian option for sauagas she could have eggs and tomatoes because by 830 5”” they had run out of mushrooms. in summary not worth the price I paid. Should have stopped at the Ty hotel inestead. In summary tired hotel overpriced and should sadly be called beggar belief instead of beggars reach.

We stayed one night as were making our way up the coast. What a lovely, quiet hotel, with comfy bed and amazing breakfast and coffee to start the day. We were off to the Green Bridge of Wales and Stack Rocks and Will told us it was worth going down the coast line to Bullslaughter Bay. We were so glad we did, the sea had a lovely blue hue. We scrambled down into the bay, past the debris and sat on a rock drinking coffee and enjoying nature.
We would gladly stay here again and enjoy the beautiful gardens in the summertime.

The Hotel is set in lovely grounds, and has nice rooms and public areas. Breakfast was very average. Dinner was good, but the choice rather limited. There were few places to eat locally. One needs to travel a fair distance to reach good beaches.

The surroundings are lovely, its a little secluded getaway. About 25 mins in the car to Tenby. The staff were lovely, we stayed in a family room number 14. On entering it did have a distinctive old alcohol smell, the room was quite outdated and the carpet would have really benefited from a good steam clean as there were alot of old marks on the floor. The room was a good size, the breakfast we had was nice and again staff very welcoming. Overall a pleasant stay

Perfect holiday at Beggars Reach in Pembrokeshire

Lovely and welcoming staff, genuinely interested in our stay.
Room cleaned daily, great to come back too at the end of long sightseeing days.
Great food, breakfast amazing as part of booking price and evening meal, had a couple of times, as a vegetarian very important for me to have vegetables of different varieties in a meal. Curry and lasagne both delicious and my husband enjoyed his meals too for the flavours in the meal.
I think we had the best room with 2 views from the property , overlooking the hotel’s beautiful gardens and beyond.
Easy access, a short narrow lane to property but used to that living in Devon. Central to Pembrokeshire and all the places we visited.

On the whole, fine, people lovely and food not bad,.. good value, but I have a few suggestions..
1. No MUSAK!! May be that is just me, but I wonder a survey of customers would tell you.
2. Extra pillows to be able to sit and watch tv on the bed in more comfort.
3. The room was a bit stuffy.. heavy curtain blocks out the light which is good, but prevent cool air circulating. ? have a small fan available?

Good, but could do better

Overall, we enjoyed our stay (only one night). The hotel is set in extremely beautiful grounds, carefully landscaped and maintained, and welcomes families - there were numerous children playing. We had two rooms, one of which was a standard hotel room, perhaps a little larger than average, the second being a suite: a large sitting room with sofa, chairs and table. That room was comfortable but IMO could have done with a television (there was one in the bedroom).

Everything necessary was present, but there was nothing over and above, so to speak. For instance, while the bathrooms were exquisitely clean, the towels felt rather old (thin and harsh); liquid soap was provided, but nothing else. Normally in a hotel charging these prices, one would expect a box of paper handkerchiefs, perhaps shampoo, and so on. The food at breakfast was tasty and well cooked (fried eggs with properly runny yolks - a rarity in hotels!), but again, basic: bacon, sausage, tomato and mushrooms: none of the 'over-and-above' dishes (e.g. hash browns, baked beans or black pudding) that we've been offered in considerably cheaper hotels.

If we were asked to provide a star rating, I'd give Beggars Reach 3 stars: a pleasant hotel, but one that doesn't go the extra mile to pamper its clients.

Note: the hotel can only be reached via a single-track road about half a mile long with few passing places. It was particularly hairy when we encountered a Landrover towing a large horse-box coming the other way!

A great place to stay

We booked this hotel as it was central to the places we planned to visit. Bosherston, Broadhaven and St Govan within easy reCh, judt minute's away. The hotel was clean and the room very comfortable. The staff very friendly and helpful and the breakfast which was included was excellent. We will definitely be returning soon and comes highly recommended for breaks away for couple's and family. Its also a great wedding venue, with a large function room and beautiful garden's. Thank you.

i have stayed in beggers reach many time over the years.
But the room i was given was very out dated. And no heating expect a electric fan heater. the room was cold very cold all night. the radiators came on at around 06:00 in the morning but was very poor. you couldn't turn the radiators on when you went in to the room they must be on a timer. the bathroom radiators had no taps on them so you couldn't turn them on if you wanted to.

REALLY EXCELLENT STAY. HOTEL IN VERY RURAL PEACEFUL LOCATION, WELL POSITIONED FOR ALL THE WESTERN PEMBROKESHIRE POINTS OF INTEREST. ROOM VERY SPACIOUS. MEALS VERY GOOD WITH WIDE MENU RANGE AT REASONABLE PRICES. THE STAFF WERE EXCELLENT AND DEALT WITH MY WIFE'S GLUTEN FREE DIET WITH NO PROBLEM. SUE THE HOUSEKEEPER WAS SUPERB AND WILL GAVE US SOME GOOD ADVICE ON SUGGESTED WALKS ON THE COASTAL PATH. WOULD NOT HESITATE TO HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

Room with a beautiful view but not so great shower

I had a comfortable stay. And I am thankful that they cooked me a meal after my late arrival. But In the morning I tried to use the shower and the connection was loose pouring out everywhere. The dial to turn the shower on and off was really difficult to turn on and off, and I had to use a towel to get enough grip.
I tried to let them know when I was checking out but the man at the desk just asked me if I had my bill, to which I let him know it was paid for through hotels.com and then he went back to what he was doing.
Other than this the room was lovely and had a beautiful view.
