We returned again for the 4th time

This was our 4th stay at Barong. It is starting to look tired and in need of a refurb. They have started but have some way to go. Having said that our room with a pool was very nice and the location is awesome. Will probably not stay agin until after refurb unless price drops to reflect

Don't waste your time and money

1.We booked 5 rooms next to each other by the pool. When we arrived one was not available and the room provided was at the other end of the hotel.
2. The hotel was under construction in the pool area which we were not advised before our stay. The work included jack hammering from 8am until 6 pm right next to 4 of the rooms windows making it intolerable to relax in our rooms. We asked for room changes upon arrival and were denied. The pool was unusable because it was cluttered with concrete, dust and debris.
3.The tv in 2 rooms did not work. In room 1 the hotel people exchanged the tv 3 times until they got a functioning one which was very small compared to what was advertised. There were 4 people in this room and on the 3rd attempt they did rewiring work . This took 5 hours on and off over the course of the day making the room unusable because it was full of workmen. I thought they would have at least give another room at this point but no.
4. When the jackhammers finally stopped about an hour later the band from the restaurant was so loud that there was still no peace to be had. If not for the constant noise during the day and the steady stream of workers right outside our windows this would have been tolerated but with everything else going on it was just too much.
5. The staff were unhelpful and didn't try to compensate at all with any fee reduction or meal vouchers.
6. The pictures on this sight were not a true representation of what we encountered.

Loved the central location, convenience to a wide variety of cafes and restaurants. Ubud Palace, the monkey sanctuary and the Campuhan Ridge walk were all within walking distance. The room was beautifully appointed and the private pool a Godsend being in the centre of town. The downside of the ideal location with close proximity to bars and cafes, is that the live music from a couple of them was so loud, we couldn't hear the TV. Lucky for noise curfew at 11pm. The novelty of the monkeys using our roofs and the nearby tin roof as a playground wore off pretty quickly too.

Very cute, jungle vibes. Lots of stones and steps. The bungalow room was amazing. The bathroom was so spacious. The bed was very comfortable. I wasnt a fan of the wooden platform under the bed. I scraped my legs several times. In 48 hours, the internet only worked for about 10 hours. I was told it affected the area, but Im still in Ubud and the internet works here. Neighborhood bars are so loud, I thought the music was coming from the hotel. Not recommended for light sleepers, but it is pretty peaceful.

Very pleasant stay in Ubud

We had a really good stay. Large rooms with extra large bathroom and own private court yard. Lovely and accommodating staff. Beautifully kept gardens and pool. Very centrally located between the Monkey Forest and the Palace. We would stay at this hotel again in the future and recommend rooms close to the pool. Free bicycles were also offered and daily complimentary in room snacks which was very nice.

Stayed at the Barong for a couple of days with our 3 year old. We opted for the deluxe room, located in our own private courtyard and pool, which was a wonderful experience. There's just something about waking up and jumping in the pool right from your bedroom door. Beautiful and lush courtyard, cozy room and a luxurious bathroom. Great location and beautiful grounds. The only minor issue would be the breakfast offerings, which were a little below standard in our opinion. Other than that, a great place to stay on your visit to Ubud.

Most comfortable bed ever...

The bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in... stunning white soft sheets too. Service was excellent, every staff member went out of their way. Beautiful pool and pool bar setting. The hotel goes onto quite a busy street though, and not the best street to walk to the beach. The room - 3rd floor, was small and had a block above the balcony rail - so we felt very closed in. The shower water also took close to 10 minutes to heat up. But overall a fantastic resort to stay in Seminake, good location.

The staff is wonderful, my last day was my birthday (not sure how they knew) and 4 of them came to my room with a cake singing happy birthday!! They greeted me everytime they seen me with a smile. I was traveling alone so was a little nervous when choosing a place but I felt totally safe there. My only negative was if you ask them to book you a ride he uses his friend Katut who charges a lot more than just walking out and using one of the other people, that part kinda took away from the “family” feel they have going. But maybe they don’t even know this driver is doing that. I would definitely go back to the barong I just wouldn’t use their driver. It’s clean and comfortable! House keeping is amazing, they come in twice a day to change out towels, bring bottled water and empty any trash. Plus they bring fruit in the morning and some snack in the evening. Some reviews said bad Wifi but for me it was good. The massage was nice too. The restaurant had good food, just a small selection but I am very picky. They offer a few trips from the hotel that is included, if I had it to do again I would do the trekking the first day just to get a feel for the area. It’s just a great hotel with amazingly nice people.

Overall , Barong was better than I had expected. We only stayed a couple of nights and wanted a central position, so we could walk everwhere, and this place is perfect in that respect. At the same time, the area where the rooms are, and pool is very quiet at restful.
Our room was large, with a full bathroom, incl shower and bath. Very clean and tidy. Reasonable price at the mini bar. Would stay again.

Hotel is in a great location, and the staff are very eager to help, however a few annoying aspects... The WiFi connection is terrible (didn’t work the majority of our stay) which is an inconvenience when trying to plan your trip. Also I feel they need to do more to ensure there’s no mosquitoes in your actual bedroom, maybe they leave the door open whilst cleaning? Also the bedroom door to our room wasn’t secure and could have easily have been broken in to. A bit of a worry as the safe was broken too!

The hotel had a wow look when first checking in but on closer inspection it was tired and in need of some TLC.
Some of the issues were the main tap on the bath didnt work, but we overcame the issue by using the hand spray on the bath to fill it.
The other point was most of the nozzles on the shower head were blocked or facing in random directions so you didnt get wet in the shower.
We were only staying for 2 days so didnt bother to mention the issues.

JUST REMEMBER YOU ARE IN UBUD INDONESIA... things are busy and what you might take for granted at home might be a luxury in Ubud.. the shower, bathroom and living area we're clean and nice... The bed was HARD.. the ceiling fan was obnoxiously noisy.. the property is located in a busy part of the city. Circle K right across the street.. you can seriously walk the whole city easily.. now for the staff... You will make friends for life.. great people amazing attitudes..

Best accommodation, staff and location in Ubud

I originally only booked 2 nights here until I could get my bearings on what I wanted to do in Bali but ended up booking another 2 nights. Place is lovely and they keep it up as they were doing some repairs and painting while I was there. Breakfast is amazing. Staff are out of this world friendly and helpful. They discovered it was my birthday while I was there and had a cake made for me!! How sweet is that? On that day too, they upgraded me to a different bungalow with my own private pool! They are helpful in booking tours and arranging transportation. I didn’t want to leave this place but there were other parts of Bali I had yet to discover. Nonetheless, I will definitely be back to this little slice of paradise in Ubud. Even though it’s centrally located in the heart of everything, you wouldn’t know it or hear the noise from the main street. Don’t miss out in staying here!

Amazing location & customer service

Couldn't be better located! In the heart of Ubud - this hotel sits right in the middle between the Monkey Forest and the Market/Royal Palace. The customer service was amazing here as well. They really went above and beyond. The staff was incredible. I wish I remembered the name of the gentleman that helped us during our stay - he took us on a mini tour on morning. From my understanding, they offer two complimentary tours depending on availability (one in morning and one in the afternoon). We did the morning one and he took us for a walk to the Campuhan Ridge Walk - just arriving it was nice to have this accompanied walk to get a better feel for the area. The next day he also assisted us in arranging a tour outside of Ubud. The hotel itself was very picturesque and has a very rustic feel. The room was very comfortable and spacious. We also took advantage of the spa - great massages!

Superb hotel!

Baronga Resort and Spa is a beautiful little oasis in the middle of Ubud. The hotels and rooms are beautiful, and the staff are very helpful.

The hotel stretches very far back from the road, so there are no issues with noise from the street. The breakfast is varied and tasty.

The only slight issue (which was resolved): Hotels.com stated that check-in was 24-hour. This was not the case, and when we arrived in the morning to check in we were told to come back for check-in later. However, they held our bags for us, provided a welcome drink and then upgraded us to a private villa with own pool. It was nothing short of fantastic!

The room was large, and beautiful decorated, and all the amenities were great.

Thoroughly enjoyed this hotel, and would recommend it to everyone.

Heart of town with a faraway resort feel

At the heart of town on one of the busiest roads in Ubud. Tons of shopping and restaurants as soon as you step outside. Once inside, it feels like a far away resort with none of the busy road noises etc.

I love Indian food and there was an Indian restaurant just 3 minutes walk away near monkey forest. There was another one around 7 minutes walk away near Ubud market but I didn't care for that one much.

My room had it's own courtyard with a private pool. It was great to sit outside the room in the courtyard and have a beer in the lush green surroundings. Room and bathroom were spacious.

There is a Circle K store right opposite the hotel and you could get all basic stuff including beer.

Only complaints were that some of the bathroom fittings were not functioning properly and room was quite a hike from the road. WiFi was a bit spotty inside the room.

Great location in central Ubud. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful. One of the staff even drove me on his own motorcycle to the ridge walk and allowed me to use an unoccupied room to shower before departing to the airport after I had checked out. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the breakfast was good. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again!

Villa 3 was nice and had private pool and garden. Location is quite central between monkey Forest and central Ubud (markets). Main pool also not bad and peaceful. Worst thing was the breakfast as was not buffet and hence you had to order from specific menu which narrowed the choices alot and made breakfast not as enjoyable as other places.

I booked a suite and it was absolutely amazing - private pool at the back of the property with views of green space, a Balinese daybed for naps outside, huge room and four poster bed. Haven of peace in centre of Ubud

This was our second stay at Barong Spa in Ubud. We enjoyed it the first time and again this time, for its peacefulness and calm spacious accommodation right in the centre of the busiest part of Ubud. It looks unassuming from the entrance, but stretches back through the breakfast area, steps up to a wonderful reception area, beautifully decorated in Balinese style and then steps down again to the rooms, all of which seem to have individual design and open space, whether a private terrace, private small garden or opening out on to the pool area. The rooms are spacious and comfortable and bathrooms large and well equipped.

Peaceful in the heart of Ubud

This was my second time at the Barong and it was as lovely as the first 10 years ago. This property is beautiful and secluded despite being right in the heart of Ubud. The rooms are beautifully decorated and private. Breakfast every morning was delicious and the restaurant, despite not being very busy, serves some excellent dishes. The staff is helpful and welcoming.

Barong is just okay

When we first arrived we loved the look of the resort and the room was nice.

The toilet wouldn’t stop running for most of the stay which was just more annoying than anything.

It poured rain on our second day and the pathway to the rooms was completely flooded. No one warned us so we basically had to walk through a flood and then got stuck in the room until they were able to clear the path. Had they told us it was flooded we wouldn’t have gone back to our rooms. We basically wasted about 3 hours of our day because we couldn’t leave it was almost to our knees. Later when it stopped raining and they were able to release the water, we went out for dinner and when we came back it was raining again and we asked if it was flooded and they said no, and it was.

We had breakfast included and it was not good. My poached eggs were cold and covered in vinegar. We both don’t eat meat and nothing said anything about meat on the menu and our food came out with meat all over the plate. The coffee was instant coffee and wasn’t even mixed. It was disgusting.

The pool had 4 chairs and no where to lay to get any sun.

The staff was very nice and the location was good. Overall it was an okay stay.

Perfect place to stay in Ubud

We stayed for 2 nights and it was awesome. The room is comfy, spacious, lots of room facilities, amenities and even those island 'first kit' (candles, mosquito repellents, lighters). The people are nice and very helpful.
- Breakfast could be improved (taste & selection).
The area is in the center of Ubud, so you could just walk down the street for shopping, getting lunch, snacks / coffee plus there's a convenient store across the street and a local bar not far from there. Perfect place to stay.

Great value, great for family with kids.

I was abit hesitant after reading some bad reviews but i wasn't disappointed once i arrived. The pictures featured on hotels.com website should does not do the hotel justice. The room was spacious and clean, they even offered complimentary snacks and fruits in our room. The bathroom was amazing, all 4 of us can squeeze into the bathtub and the kids loved it. Apart from the bed which was creaking and the noises made by the animals (well it's Ubud afterall), everything was perfect. The location was perfect, within walking distant to everything. Will definitely come back here again. Breakfast was served a la carte and they can bring it to your bungalow, but i find dining at their restaurant a better experience. Wifi was weak, but am glad as i didn't want to think about work. Overall, a pleasant stay.

Wonderful stay, beautiful hotel! From my early check in, great friendly staff at front desk, all so nice & warm welcome with refreshing drink & kind note left in my room! Loved the details, modern decor, beautifully decorated room, canopy bed, pretty terrace, flowers, and gorgeous bathroom with rain shower & rock details! Enjoyed the daily fruits, snacks, kit with candles, bug cream, flashlight. Even pool and spa were great too enjoyed the pampering! Gorgeous villa exceeding our expectations

Our villa was superb. I stayed by myself with my two teen-aged boys (17 and 13) and we loved every part of our experience. The villa was beautifully appointed, private pool perfect and staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The grounds and facilities are a delightful paradise. I booked this hotel last minute and was very satisfied about the location and the room. I was travelling solo for the first time in my life but felt so comfortable in this hotel. The staff were very welcoming. I had 1 big suitcase and a small trolley which they brought to my room for me. I had the Superior Bungalow with a king size bed. The bathroom is very spacious with shower and bath. Every day I received 2 bottles of water and fresh fruit complementary.

A little oasis in the middle of Ubud

The first thing you notice when you walk into the hotel lobby is how quiet it is - you immediately escape from the hustle and bustle of Ubud. I arrived late in the morning, and luckily for me, the room was ready, and I was able to check in. My room was beautiful, clean, and big. I had my own private terrace with a small table and daybed. The room had a large bathroom, with all the amenities one needed. The staff was very attentive to all your needs, and would come in twice a day to clean your room and turn down in the evening. They would leave a nice plate of fruit and a little snack every day.

Close to Monkey Forest and other attractions.

Overall our stay was pleasant. However, the hotel decor looks a little dated and would benefit from a refresh. It also has very steep steps leading up to the reception desk. This could be an obstacle for some people. The staff are pleasant and accommodating. The rooms have massive beds and basic comforts. A small courtyard and pond is situated outside the room. There is also a good sized public swimming pool.
The entrance/foyer is very comfortable and has scatter cushions as well as regular chairs, and a small area with books where you can drink coffee, read, and watch the world go by.
Apart from looking a little dowdy, there isn't anything glaringly wrong with the hotel.

Deceiving pictures

My wife and I stayed here for two nights. Check in went smooth, staff was very friendly but everything soon went downhill. Within 30 minutes of being in our first room the roof started leaking in three areas due to the mid afternoon rain, one of which was all over the pillows on one side of the bed. Staff were quickly able to find us another room and upgraded us to the Villa depicted in the online photographs. It looked nothing like the photos. The yard was a mess and the pool was disgusting, the patio furniture was old and torn, the pool had numerous broken tiles and didn't appear to be clean enough to swim in. The room itself had a very strong mildew smell, as did the first room. You notice this as soon as you walk in. We had to ask the staff to clean the curtain around the bed because the smell throughout the night was unbearable. The next morning we woke and had the complimentary breakfast in the lobby which consisted of instant coffee and powdered orange juice and your usual breakfast items. Needless to say we left and found food up the road at another resturant. Don't waste your time and money on this place. Either the photographs were taken when the place first opened or someone simply did a great editing job.

Barong Resort Ubud

While located on busy Monkey Forest Rd, the room was nice and quiet with good air-conditioning and a small private garden. However it was not mosquito proof as part of the bathroom ceiling was open to the outside. There were a lot of mosquitos in the room which made it less than great to relax in, although the bed had mosquito netting. Given that the room was not cheap, this was disappointing. With rice paddies in the area, catching dengue fever (mosquito transmitted virus) is a possiblilty and it would have been nice if the room was mosquito-proof.

We stayed with another couple and absolutely loved the service, location, friendly and attentive staff, food and I could go on! As a group, it was great fun and as a couple in our private villa, it was bliss! We will be booking in to Barong on our next trip to Ubud without a doubt!

One of the worse hotel stays. Hotel entrance under construction. No restaurant. No working wifi. Run down inside with a musty smell. Staff came into the room uninvited. Dirty bed sheets.

Nice resort in centre of Ubud

We were there for 3 nights, and had a pleasant stay. Our 5 y.o. enjoyed the pool and fishes in out private pond.
Construction work was happening, but we did not hear it.
Overall, good value for money.

Good location for middle of Ubud

For those wanting to be close to the Ubud action for walking, eating and shopping this is a great location. A crazy busy street but it's utter silence where the rooms are. The pool was beautiful, grounds well manicured, spa treatment was quite good and very reasonable prices for Bali. Breakfast was delivered to our room and was large size and tasty. The beds were hard as is usual outside of North America which makes sleeping difficult. Overall a decent place but I felt it was over priced for what it delivered. Staff was a bit standoffish which is atypical for Balinese in general but trying to be helpful without doubt.

Great location, close to everything in Ubud

We only stayed one night in Ubud this time to do some shopping and we found the Barong Resort to be a lovely place to stay. They're currently building a restaurant in the front of the property but it doesn't have any impact on your stay. The rooms are large and well appointed and the bathroom is spectacular!! we had an extra bed for our child and the room can easily accommodate this. The pool area and gardens are so picturesque, peaceful and private, you wouldn't know that you're so close to the bustle of the town. There were so many little touches that made our short stay a delight. Thank you to the staff at Barong for an enjoyable stay.

We had 3days in Ubud and my daughter recommended this hotel due to its location. The reviews looked good and they're were right. Staff were delightful. Room was excellent in every way. Clean comfortable and very pretty garden too. Would definitely use this hotel again

We loved the central location and the ability to walk everywhere and yet the pool villa and the hotel in general was removed from the hustle of the street and was a quite little oasis. The hotel is ageing gracefully, the staff cheerful and helpful, the location is great.

Great central hotel

A great centrally located hotel in ubud. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are very nice and spacious.
The only negative would be their breakfast. I have stayed at this hotel a few years ago and the breakfast quality has not changed since then. Overall I would recommend barong resort and spa.

The room is big, clean and the facilities in the room is four stars. I stayed for three nights. Enjoyed the breakfast but as I stayed solo yet the ticket entitled me to two pax, I ordered a few items to sample each day and on the second day, the service staff was rude when I ordered from two different sets. He stared at me gave a disgruntled look throughout. I didn't like that. The rest are pleasant.
