This is a must. Do yourself a favor and book for two nights. The hotel is something out a fairy tale. You feel like you stepped back in time. Views for days. The staff is warm and welcoming. Things to take advantage of, there an additional fee for $20 for amenities. With it you get unlimited use of their electric bikes. I was sad to leave. But will defiantly go back. Fantastic experience.

Almost 100 year old, so dont go if you are looking for ultra modern conveniences i.e there are no TVs nor Coffee/Tea making facilities /Fridges/Microwave etc etc in the rooms. However if you want to experience the location, views, heritage, and overall ambience it’s fantastic. Staff are brilliant too - There’s a nightly talk by staff about the hotel & it’s history and they are always on hand to answer any queries.

Love the staff and they're kilts, didn't realize the property was built so long ago they kept the same elevators, so you can either go the stairs or you have to wait for the staff to bring you up the elevator.However, it was a wonderful stay and this scenery is absolutely magnificent. Highly recommend the town of Waterton is beautiful .

Was surprised by the additional charge of $20 per day for parking, and the addition of 4% added to dining and beverage charges charged to the room rather than paying each time with credit card. There was no mention of the parking charge, which was annoying. Please just mention it when booking to make this smoother.

Beautiful old ambience. It is indicated that they want to preserve the elevator for its historical value. However, it does get to be a bit much using the stairs, constantly with your luggage, etc.
Nonetheless, it is a wonderful experience to stay at the hotel

Besides the incredible location and views from the Lobby and Dining areas, the service from all personnel was exemplary and hard to match in our own international travels. Can't say enough about how we were treated as guests. This stay occurred at the end of our tour of the Canadian National Parks and was a perfect conclusion to a wonderful excursion.

The bathroom isn't what you’d expect; it feels more like a public restroom at a rest area with a showerhead attached. Plus, the sink is next to the bed instead of inside the bathroom. Unless you're getting a lake view, there’s absolutely no reason to pay such a high price to stay at this hotel.

I traveled here with my family in June and the property and Waterton is beautiful. Unfortunately it was unseasonably cold and the hotel did not seem to heat the property adequately but did provide blankets to use in the common space but heating in my room was not functioning making it a very cold experience. The atmosphere is overall stuffy and pretentious but also sort of like a nursing home and was not that comfortable of a place to hang around at.

The stay was very underwhelming for the price paid. As Waterton’s iconic original railway hotel, I would have expected significantly better upkeep in rooms and substantially better services and amenities.

The hotel is old and historic, but was terribly maintained and kept up. I had hair on my bathroom floor. The rooms had next to no amenities (not even coffee or a hairdryer), but yet forces you to pay $20 per night for amenities they don’t even give you in the room, or tell you about for that matter.

The walls were paper thin. I could hear everything going on in the main lobby, and I could even hear my next-door neighbour snoring and their alarm going off nonstop. The blinds don’t even block out the 5 AM sunlight. There wasn’t even air conditioning.

The restaurant was average, but the prices were expensive. The menus online do not accurately reflect the current prices in the restaurant.

I expected much better services and amenities for the price this place is charging. Unlike other historic railway hotels, this one has had minimal upkeep with the hotel, cutting corners at every chance they can.

I would recommend staying here for one night for the iconic Waterton experience, but I would much rather give my money to a well kept locally owned Waterton hotel for a longer stay.

We booked two rooms on the fifth floor without knowing that the elevator only goes to the fourth floor. We had assistance with our bags when we arrived, which was very helpful. But if you have any mobility issues, make sure you do not stay on the 5th or 6th floors.

Everything was as expected. It is a historical hotel therefore things like the elevator and some of the other amenities are limited. The view is tremendous. The food was excellent and staff was very attentive and pleasant. I will remember if I go back again that the weather conditions can be pretty extreme. There was a 20 to 45 mile an hour wind blowing for 24 hours straight. It rattled the entire hotel and made our beds shake. It was a unique experience but difficult to sleep during those conditions. The hotel wisely provides earplugs in every room, just in case the wind is too noisy. Funny but I almost used them..

Due to an unexpected problem with one in our party, we were unable to cross at the Can/US border causing a catastrophic change in travel plans. We contacted the hotel only to have the front desk inform us that all bookings and cancelations had to go through the booking office. We made several attempt to contact them, left messages to no avail and 5 days later, still no response. Our stay dates have come and gone and were change for our booked nights, eventhough we tried to cancel our reservation and request a refund. Hotels.com took on our case and they are having issues contacting the management. Not an adequate dispute management on behalf of the Glacier Resort management team...extremely dissatisfied with their performance and the Prince of Wales hotel!!!

The Prince of Wales Hotel has real character more than just a place to stay, it feels like a piece of history. The rooms are delightfully old-school, with wooden beams and a warm, welcoming charm that you just don’t get from modern hotels.

The restaurant and bar were impressive with great views of the lake. The atmosphere is cosy, classic and the overall vibe. Highly recommend for atleast once in a lifetime experience.

Très bel endroit bonne nourriture decor merveilleux, le seul gros hic mon dieu que c'est mal isolé il fesait froid c'était Très venteux et comme c'est sur une colline les gens soupait au resto avec petit manteau et il pleurait des couvertures. Notre chambre était au 5ieme nous avons un petit thermostat d'appoint en guise de chauffage brrr. Mais c'est un très beau bâtiment qui mérite le détour.

The staff was lovely. The room was dark, dingy, had one towel, and was highly lacking in amenities. We felt very confined in the room and there was no place to sit outside of the room in the hotel short of the lounge, which was sectioned off for those purchasing drinks. The location is wonderful, but there are far better options in the park (closer to the restaurants). I would stop for the gift shop, but keep driving. We were charged for two cars (two rooms), but we had one car. It was just not our finest stay and I can't with good conscience recommend this place. Heed the other reviews when it says that it needs updating.

Room was only 60 degrees so staff loaned us a space heater (mid May too). Good food in restaurant but would appreciate them changing the selections every few days. We enjoyed our stay, thanks!

It’s a beautiful hotel. There is a history lesson of the hotel by Frank or was it Blake I’m really bad with names. Breakfast in the morning was perfect and a smoky old-fashioned cocktail bite that lovely window and enjoying the view was great. Turn off your phone or go for a good lovely hike in the park. Highly recommended.

The property has been there a long time. Amenities are old. You can hear people talking in the adjacent room and you can hear the wind blowing through the windows/walls. You drive a long way to get to the property. Lovely view of the surrounding mountains and the lake.
There is no breakfast provided. Limited selections available for breakfast in the restaurant on the property. I had the french toast and did not really care for it.

Buffalo and trout was on menu but\"out\" as end of season. Id stay on US side on how I was treated. The exterior and all the common areas of the hotel are beautiful. Our room, however, was shabby. The carpet was old, the blinds were old, and the chairs were filthy, and the cushions were as flat as pancakes. The room was not clean. The windows were filthy, and the beautiful new bathroom had dirt on the tile underneath the mirror which you couldn’t even see in. The room smelled musty. The bed was comfortable and the shower was great. There was a $12 convenience fee if you wanted anything such as a hairdryer or white noise machine. The staff was absolutely wonderful. I was very disappointed.

The property was borderline decrepit, with thin walls/old carpet in rooms &unsafe large single pane window in the bar. Grounds looked kind of grubby immediately surrounding the hotel. The lake of course was beautiful. The staff were very good, and the beds comfy, but the hotel overall compares poorly to other historic icons like the Banff Springs

The location for this hotel is wonderful. Outstanding views which take your breath away. The hotel is a beautiful time piece and lovely to look at. The young staff are pleasant and very helpful.
Sadly that’s where the good things end.
Do not expect anything approaching a good night’s sleep due to the noise from other rooms despite wearing ear plugs! There is no coffee after 10 am unless you buy it from the gift shop. There was no tea available at all. It says that residents have free tea and coffee from 6.00am to 10.00am yet on leaving the hotel charges $25 for ‘amenities’ which is parking plus the coffee and non-existent tea!!
The only water to be had is located down a steep flight of stairs which is not accessible if you have mobility issues. You have to ask for hairdryers at the reception.
On top of all of this are the swarms of flies everywhere! The notices explain that due to being in a national park the hotel can’t get rid of them. It’s awful and we had several bites.
The rooms are very cramped and dark. There is a smell of manure everywhere. We were very sad as this was going to be a real highlight for our trip.

I would not have stayed just for the experience if I knew what I was getting. A room with no extras, no AC, no coffee maker, the one ice machine is in the basement many floors from the room. The rooms can hear every door closing, every person walking around the room and can even hear a person in the room next to us on the phone. Just an old hotel. Not worth the cost, though a very unique place and a gorgeous view. Everyone has to make that call themselves, but for me and my family…we would not stay here again. Get down on the lake with all the hotels with normal stuff.

The rooms were comfy & clean. The hotel itself is a masterful piece of history with it’s 98 year old wooden architecture. Very cool! The whole Welsh thing could be toned down. It’s a little too much. The Staff were mostly young visa workers whom were awkward & not cohesive in their costumes & attention to details & speaking confidently. I overheard one server only talking to 2 very uninterested patrons about how she couldn’t wait to leave & go back to New Zealand. I saw no Senior management present at anytime. With a hotel of this calibre & given it’s incredible history, that the staff should be more seasoned & attentive. Also, the menu was ok. It could be re-vamped to reflect more classics & have more locally sourced ingredients.
