We booked 2 sea view rooms for 3 nights. Only one room had a sea view and the bathroom in that room had black mould around the ceiling. The other room had a very old mattress and the bedding was old and thin. The pillows in that room were flat. We checked out after 1 night and will not be back. Whilst the staff were friendly, this hotel needs refurbishment, new mattresses, new duvets, pillows, blankets and linen. Mould is injurious to health and no hotel of the calibre that this hotel claims to be should have it.

We Stayed in Room 9 (ground floor), very noisy room, lots of noise above and to the side of the room, terrible nights sleep. Bed was hard, the bathroom and hotel in general looked like it was still back in the 80’s. My advice, stay elsewhere!

Hotel needs a few updates

The staff were all absolutely lovely but the hotel is really run down inside and very dated. On one of my nights the fire alarm kept going off multiple times, at one point waking everyone up at 0100. No offer of discount for the interrupted sleep was given. Outside was lovely, its in a great spot but the whole hotel really needs updating.

Beautiful views across the Solent, and very pleasant to be seated outside on the veranda at night. Very professional staff, and exceptionally courteous. The food from the kitchen at dinner was top class, so much so I, sent my congratulations to the duty chef, via the restaurant waiter.
My wife agrees with me, that our visit, was an all round, very pleasant experience. And we will come again next year.

The room was very small at the back of the hotel facing a wall. There was only one receptionist who was on the phone dealing with a future booking when we arrived so we had to wait for a considerable amount of time. There was a ceiling fan which was helpful.
There was shampoo but no conditioner which was disappointing. No iron in the room either. Not really up to the standard we were expecting - we will not stay there again.

Actually quite frustrated with Expedia who have billed me double what I was expecting. Was expecting a single night in a 3 star hotel to cost me no more than £70 and to my shock, I was billed £180 for a single night in the hotel. I have no idea how the price jumped from £70 to £180 but I have no doubt Expedia are up to dirty tricks to extract more money from people. Very very expensive for a single night in a three star hotel and it was supposed to be my birthday.

Well worth a visit

We and our dog received a warm welcome. The staff were attentive, the room well appointed and the evening meal was excellent. Breakfast was efficient and there were plenty of choices. The location of the hotel is perfect views across the Solent. We even had the added entertainment of three cruise ships sailing right past us during dinner! It's an easy walk into Cowes or Gurnard from here. Although New Holmwood is part of Best Western it very much feels like an independent hotel. This is definitely a hotel we'll return to.

The hotel is in a great location on the seafront with the esplanade just out front offering beautiful views and walks to Cowes centre or Gurnard. Staff are friendly, professional and caring about the service delivered and their customers. A great base for IoW exploring! The restaurant served good quality dinners and breakfasts. We did not eat lunch at the hotel but I’m sure it’d be equally nice. The rooms were comfortable, clean and ours had a sea view.

An excellent stay for a family cycling trip around the Island. The hotel made us feel very welcome & were able to store 5 bicycles for us in a secure place. We had dinner at the hotel which was of very good quality with an excellent choice for a very reasonable price. The rooms were very clean & comfortable ( we had booked 3 rooms) & my husband & I had the one with a seaview. There was a good sized terrace at the front of hotel which overlooked the sea front. The hotel was very COVID secure.

The hotel is a little dated and certainly caters for the older clientele but a couple of mid 20s still had a great time. The location is great! Amazing views and a short walk into Cowes where you have tons of restaurants, bars, pubs etc. The service is amazing and it is so clean everywhere! Bed was very comfortable. The only thing that would be nice is instructions for the shower, my partner is over 6 ft so struggled to use the fixed shower, the attachment would have been useful if we knew how to turn it on.

We had an amazing stay, the staff were so lovely and it was a really friendly atmosphere. The location at Egypt point is stunning with beautiful views. Free parking was so convenient. Fantastic view of the Solent from the Hotel which was a great feature. The Manager & his wife Kathleen were great. Very welcoming, friendly & sociable. The Hotel & our room was clean & comfortable.Due to Covid-19 procedures around the Hotel had to be adhered to for safety. Check out was 11:00 however it was annoying that one of the cleaning staff knocked on our room door on 3 occasions, before 10am to see if we had vacated the room. The breakfast was fantastic with plenty of choice. Evening meals were very tasty & well presented too. Overall it was a very good stay.

Check in was quick and easy, have COVID restrictions in place. Room was clean and a reasonable size. They have a ceiling fan but for me this wasn’t enough so a quick call to reception and a fan soon arrived and this made all the difference. The beds aren’t the most comfortable, my side was too soft and my husbands too lumpy (they are 2 singles pushed together)
The staff are really helpful and a credit to the company. The views at breakfast and other meals are fabulous. Good location to get out and explore the island.
Would I stay here again? Yes for a couple of days.

Thoroughly enjoyed our short stay. 3rd time we have stayed in last couple of years. Love the hotel and friendly staff and felt very safe at such an unusual time re Covid safe procedures in place.
Room was looking a little tired this time, but comfy and clean nevertheless, however we found ourselves staring at nothing but a wooden fence out of the window which was such a shame.
Watched the sun go down on the terrace, then had dinner looking out to sea which was lovely and tasty then had drinks on the sofa. Thankyou.
