The air conditioning seemed to only cool during the night as if it was in economy mode as a result the room was quite warm in late afternoon and evening
The tub had no plug to have a bath which we could have requested but felt it should be provided.
we had small face cloth initially but they were not replaced so I found this inconvenient

I misspoke on my last review the air conditioning was very good, however ceiling fans are a no brainer in hot conditions, welcome to Texas. I was 100% accurate on the parking garage, very tight, difficult with larger vehicles and the columns are very dangerous. Staff was outstanding.!

Air Conditioning was an issue in all the rooms we were in.
They are not used to heat qpparently but I have no idea why they do not install ceiling fans in every room. Also the parking lot is very tight so if you have a larger vehicle you may find it difficult to enter and exit. Staff was outstanging!

I liked the property and the area, it was easy to walk around and find things to do. What I didn't like so much were the bathroom vanity- it was akward to use, it was too high. 2nd thing, although the space was so big, the work desk was tiny. I didn't have enough space to setup my workstation. Lots of wasted space.

All the staff were super helpful. The pool is a little tricky to find but was good with lots of clean towels provided. The room was clean and spacious with plenty of storage. I also ate in the restaurant and they were very helpful and provided gluten free bread for me. Location is also a few minutes from the metro so easy to get around.

Large room, comfortable bed.
Had to leave air con on for a prolonged period to feel cool.
Room is on flight path, ok when landing but very loud if take off.
Confusion at check in about who was in each room so city taxes charged incorrectly and not enough towels etc.
The reason we booked the hotel was for the roof top pool. No correspondence to war us pool would be closed the entire time we were there. When we checked in, we were offered the use of nearby hotel's pool. Inconvenient as had to cross roads to get there, it was small and overlooked.

Practice fire alarm was advertised to go off at 10am on the Thursday. Left early to avoid. Returned at 11.30 it was still going off. Apparently delayed due to breakfast but we were not told that. My friend tried to leave to join me but colleagues told him he had to stay in the room? They had blocked his way out of the room as they were practicing how to stop smoke going into the room.
The Lifts were not working for at least 4 hours. We were on the 8th floor so a lot of walking up and down stairs. Emergency exit stairwell is all black marble, no proper lighting and my friend who is tall had to stoop to go up and down.

If you get room service it's just easiest to just pay when they arrive with a card reader. Unable to take payment from the card registered to the room, even when requested they held €100 on it to take payment from it. Struggled to then refund the difference at check out.

the swimming pool was closed because of repairs, but no work was carried out therefore it wont be ready until 2026.
the air in the hotel lobby smells of rotten feet, because there is no air ionsers or ventilators. they had to keep the emergency exit doors by the stairs open at all times, and that causes an alarm to be heard all the time. there is no signs for toilets for example. one of the 2 lifts was broken and still not fixed when i left five days later.

Scalding hot water temperature!

We were here on the end of a group tour and book 2 extra days. This hotel has excellent customer services. Especially, Davies at the reception. She helped us booked a train to Porto. The room was okay. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was okay, not that great. My main complaint is the water temperatures. It’s either too cold or scalding hot! It seemed that was the same for my fellow travelers. We had to waste tons of water to find the right temperature. The water temperature kept changing to scalding hot while we were in the shower! It was so dangerous!

This didn't seem like a 5-star property by any mean. We stayed at a few 4-star and 5-star properties on this trip over the last few days and this was not even a 4-star experience. The room wasn't clean, the sink was dirty. Toilet wouldn't flush and even the tub had water standing still during and after a shower. Someone came in an looked at it after we complained but the problem was not resolved. We weren't even offered another room.

I had such a wonderful stay at this property! The location was absolutely perfect, close to everything I wanted to see, yet still peaceful and quiet. The place was spotlessly clean and had everything I needed to feel right at home. The staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable. I loved how cozy and welcoming the whole atmosphere was—it really felt like a home away from home. If you're looking for a place to relax and enjoy your time, I can’t recommend this property enough!

This property is good overall - stayed here twice in the space of a month so reviewing two different rooms. Nice lounge area however their service is not five star nor are the hotel amenities. It would pass off as a 4 star hotel. Otherwise it is a nice hotel overall - room has no utilities apart from a empty mini fridge; bathroom has some technical issues and not easy to use facilities as such - like no soap dish, water pressure really high - sprays everywhere, no proper slippers - they are made out of paper, bathrobes are only in size x small and the rooms definitely need a refurb. They do not have a variety of foods to order from for room service and when asked if they could bring some cutlery to the room they said it costs €5 charge! This is not a 5 star service.

Nothing Grand or VIP about this hotel.

Hotel well placed midway between airport and the old town.
Rooms are looking tired and are poorly equipped with minimal furniture and no provision for hot drinks, but beds are comfortable.
Cleanliness excellent but needlesly replaced towels every day.
Lifts between floors were very slow and only available staircase was behind 'emergency access only' doors.
Buffet breakfast provided ample choice but featured nothing of outstanding quality or taste.
Hotel pool on first floor but only accessible via lobby and two lifts and had no poolside changing rooms or drinks/food service.

Very disappointing hotel and service

Before I start my complaint, I will start with the positives. Nice shower and a free bottle of water in the room. There are not many more positives about this hotel. Its very far from the city. Metro needed, and this involves a lot of walking to and from and changing lines. We booked this hotel because it had a Spa. We were not informed beforehand that the spa was closed. We realised this when we got to check in. We made our disappointment known once via email and tried to contact the manager. He was not available so we asked to be contacted by him twice. This did not happen. In Ireland, if this happened, we would be offered a complimentary drink at the least. We didn't even get an apology and as this was the only reason we chose the hotel, feel very undervalued as customers who spent a lot of money on a 3 night stay. The staff were not helpful or friendly and we wouldn't stay again. Nothing special about VIP Grand Lisboa and very disappointed customers. Stay in the city, its much better. And it's too late now for an apology.

From the outside it looks great. The area surrounding it looks a little dangerous and unsafe to be honest and there’s nothing really 5 stars about the hotel. Staff was okay , Rooms were extremely small, no outlets near the beds and some outlets wouldn’t even work. We stayed for 2 nights so we didn’t bother complaining but it wasn’t the greatest. The breakfast room was tiny with a small variety of stuff to choose from. 3 -4 star at best.

Not worth the money charged.

I was quite disappointed in the service here. Whilst I had a warm welcome from the person at reception, I was clearly struggling with my bags and there was no offer to help.

One of the lifts wasn’t working and there was neither and indication as to when it would be repaired nor a sign apologising for the inconvenience. I waited up
To 6 minutes for a lift and I was on the 9th floor so stairs were not an option.

There was no tea or coffee facilities in the rooms, there is a single bottle of water per person for the entire day. I was there at the height of summer.

I called to ask for an iron and ironing bored and was very surprised when I was informed I would need to provide credit card details as this required a 40€ deposit. Having travelled all over the world, this is the first time I have ever encountered this and I was truly shocked.

There are no clear signs for communal toilets around the hotel, there are complicated directions for accessing the pool and no clear signs. When I got lost and asked a member of staff in the spa they told me they didn’t know as they only worked in the spa. Staff don’t say hello to you they walk past you, even when you seem lost.

The pool furniture is in bad condition and the wooden decor of the rooms is dated.

This is not the worst place I have ever stayed but it is the most I have ever paid for such a substandard experience.

In summary, not worth the money they charge and an overall bad experience.

The hotel looked nice from the outside. Trouble started at check-in. Four people behind the desk with a line to check in and only one person actually helping guests.
The WiFi NEVER worked!!! The entire time. It was so frustrating.
Every day my room key stopped working and I’d have to go downstairs and wait at reception to get them to fix it. For a week, every single day.
There were no USB-type chargers in the room which seems incredibly outdated.
Plastic light fixture in the bathroom was falling off.
I wouldn’t recommend this hotel or their chain to anyone. Not for the prices they charge.

I only stayed one night at this hotel but it exceeded my expectations. The hotel is very clean and well run. Every member of the staff that I had contact with was extremely polite and professional.
I also liked the convenience of having a restaurant and fitness center at the hotel. The breakfast buffet was outstanding with multiple food options. I would definitely stay here again.

The Good:
1.Hotel is centrally located, quite near to the airport.
2.The property is impressive with very nice lounge and bar.
3.Rooms are nice and tidy.
4.Breakfast options are plenty and fresh.

What could be improved:
1.Staff service attitude. I felt they were doing me a favor in listening to my reasonable requests like Iron, Coffee etc.
2. Iron board is a must, and if you're not providing one how do you justify asking 40 Euro deposit to request one? You are expecting the guest to come down to reception and pay 40 euro and then get iron board after 30 minutes? - appalling.
3. Tea and Coffee flasks are far too small, and not refilled. many guests were waiting for it for a long time during breakfast. It's unacceptable to overlook such small but vital things.

\"Spa\" = only gym + steam room off-season.
Sunday = spa closed! --> tricky for conference stay with only free time Sunday morning.
Early closing hours: 8pm Mon-Sat --> difficult to find time to visit spa area.
Room personal mostly DO NOT KNOCK!
Strange aggressive behaviour by front desk staff without apology for NOT INFORMING about Sunday SPA CLOSED.
2nd day: face tissues and room wash cloths removed.
Room service expensive: 5€ tax payment even for 1 cup of coffee.
Rooms are a little run down.
Building site noise all night was unpleasant.

Architectural features, decor and seating in lobby area and Cenario restaurant were visually pleasing. Room did not look or feel like a 5 star hotel, more like a 3 star. The sliding door of the en suite could not close/open properly, because the rubber edge was detached at the bottom. It looked terrible and was not fixed during our stay. Bed sheet and towel and chair at the desk in our room had stains. Not acceptable for a \"5 star\" hotel. Breakfast buffet was excellent, many options. Staff at breakfast were very helpful and friendly. Staff member at reception who checked us in was not welcoming at all, quite rude, needs to learn basic manners. The staff who checked us out also lacked basic manners and the ability to understand the concept of customer service. So disappointed.
