Our stay at La Magnolia was unfortunately the most disappointing hotel experience of our otherwise wonderful travels throughout Italy.
There were a few positive aspects. The location is very good —within easy walking distance of both the train station and ferry terminal, making it very convenient for exploring the area. The neighborhood is filled with charming shops and restaurants, and we always felt safe walking around, even in the evening. We would also like to recognize Angela at the front desk, who was friendly, and helpful.
Unfortunately, the negatives far outweighed the positives. The building is extremely old, and this appears to have caused significant plumbing issues. From the first hour of our arrival until the day we checked out, the toilet repeatedly clogged. During our five-night stay, we had to request plumbing service three separate times, yet the problem was never fully resolved.
The bathroom itself was also highly problematic. The shower was so incredibly small that it could qualify for the Guinness Book of Records. It was uncomfortable and difficult to use, especially for adult travelers.
Another major disappointment was the hotel’s advertised “breakfast.” In reality, this consisted of little more than a small coffee machine near the entrance. Describing this as breakfast is misleading and falls far short of what most travelers would reasonable
