The villa is truly beautiful, the rooms are spacious and clean, the staff are friendly and the breakfasts are excellent. There is also the added advantage of plenty of parking. Our stay was only relatively short (4 nights) but we could happily have stayed at Hotel Villa Ciconia for several weeks.

The hotel is a historic building with an interesting history. It is set far back from the road and feels private and secluded - lovely to walk around. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was comfortable. Great breakfast included!

As someone who usually stays at very cheap stays, this was a treat. I stayed by myself and I felt like the room was very big. The bathroom and shower were small but fine. Front desk attendants were very nice and the breakfast was simple but enough to get my day started. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet at night! Beautiful villa. I would stay again!

Overall less nice than expected. Especially disappointed in the pool, which, on an extremely hot day, was too warm to be refreshing. Plus there were biting bugs by the pool. The price seemed too good to be true, and, in fact, you get what you pay for.

Italian Charm and Character

A beautiful building, typical Italian villa, full of charm and character, our room was spacious and comfortable too with a view across to the swimming pool. Service was OK, nothing special but definitely not poor either, and the breakfast was OK too, again nothing special, but definitely not poor. Would stay here again.

We choose this location because it is next to the highway. The rooms are spacious and were clean. The exterior pool was very comfortable especially since it was 33C. The A/C worked at max and could not cool down the room. therefore, we overheated at night. There was a local event and music played all night until 2 or 3 am and we could hear it from our room. Breakfast was ok.

Very nice old world Italian hotel. Great location for visiting Orvieto. We drove to the train station(5 mins) then took the bus to the town. At night we enjoyed a great meal at the hotel. Very relaxing outdoor dining. Remember, you are in Italy so your dinner will take 2-3 hrs, enjoy.

Rusticissima villa Ciconia

Nice bones but very dated renovation (80's?) and gloomy. Service was polite at best and the worse bed I slept in years. The property has Character, and potential but lacks charm.

Lovely old manor house with great character. On the quiet side of the river close to Orvieto. You will need a car. Be sure to book dinner in the onsite restaurant. Felt like we went back in time. Very peaceful and relaxing place.

500 YEAR OLD VILLA IN GOOD LOCATION

This family owned huge 500 year old stone villa has a lot of classic old time style. Large rooms, large windows in our corner room, on large private park. Owners are at front desk. It is less than 1 mile from the main entry road to Orvieto, which is very worth visiting. Excellent restaurant. We were there in the shoulder season and they hadn't turned on the heat yet. Only real complaint is no coffee maker in room.

It was a lovely place to stay. Gracious rooms individually furnished with interesting antiques and in our case views over the pool, gardens and countryside. The public spaces were also very inviting and we had a delicious meal at the restaurant. It was easy to park the car and the staff were friendly and helpful

Nice location. Had dinner at the hotel and it was terrific. Very rustic atmosphere.
I would love to know more about the history of the home. Pool was relaxing and refreshing after a day of walking.

Took our passports and left them there unattended

After reading through the many reviews, we were so looking forward to our stay. The check in process was very odd. There was only one person manning the reception desk. The lady took our passports, put them in the open slot under our room number, then just proceed to take us to our room. She didn't offer to show us a map of the area or things to do. We saw at least 5 sets of other guests' passports in different room number slots just in plain open view. Any one could easily come through the door and take the passports. This is because that lady was the only person running the front desk, doing guest services. Later in our stay, we saw her help clearing the restaurant tables too. Overall, the property was unique ( very old villa), the pool at the back yard was nice. Service was lacking for sure.

Beautiful, relaxing small luxury hotel

We had a great 2 night stay at Hotel Villa Ciconia. Our room (no.31) was elegantly furnished, comfortable & spacious. Breakfast was very good, especially the croissants which were absolutely delicious as was the yoghurt. The hotel restaurant was excellent & reasonably priced too. Staff were welcoming & helpful.
The hotel is in a very good location - not far from A1 Firenze-Roma autostrada exit & also 1.5km from the funicular train that takes you up to the old walled town part of Orvieto. The hotel phoned a taxi to take us to the funicular, €15 but worth it, though there is a bus stop not far from the hotel or you could walk. Duomo di Orvieto is truely outstanding.

Nice quiet stay near Orvieto

The hotel is a few minutes' drive from beautiful Orvieto. The lady at the counter during check-in wasn't the friendliest, but was much more pleasant the next day. Breakfast was great and the room was nice. Only caution is that there's a bit of a mosquito problem.

Lovely old building.

We arrived to an empty parking lot and thought we were the only guests. When they asked if we were having dinner there we declined because we thought we'd be the only ones. Imagine our surprise when we returned from Orvieto to find the parking lot and a restaurant full. Sorry we missed our chance to eat there, but we got to see Orvieto before moving on to Florence.
The room was pleasant, clean and comfortable. The hotel was an amazing old building with many short flights of stairs. The outdoor space was lovely but too cool to enjoy.

Peaceful and stately.

Exhausted after a long day we found the hotel very quiet and peaceful. The on-site restaurant (separate business) was very nice, but the most memorable thing was the peacefulness of the place. It was raining lightly so we could hear it though the open window. In the morning we awoke to bird song.

Amazing hotel in its own beautiful grounds close t

Fabulous hotel just outside the hilltop town of Orvieto. This converted old villa had only 12 rooms which meant you had very individual service. Our room was incredible! Tastefully furnished in a traditional way The hotel's grounds were huge with its own pool in a very tranquil setting. We absolutely loved this beautiful hotel

Too remote from Orvieto and the hotel was not to our style. The room was spacious with a view of the swimming pool. The gardens were a little sparse and disappointing.

This is an old villa transformed into a 12 room hotel. We loved it!! We had the triple room which was huge, had good AC and wifi and a lovely view onto the pool. The villa is lovely and the swimming pool very nice and well kept. Orvieto is a great town and we hope to come back.

Quaint hotel near Orvieto historic centre

Beautiful and quiet setting, well restored, interesting layout, courteous service, good breakfast and excellent restaurant for dinner. We also appreciated the outdoor pool on a hot July day. The location of the hotel relative to the historic centre of Orvieto is at reasonable distance by car.

Lovely, however not for us!

Room was dark. No good lighting available. Bathroom had no window and was dark.
Breakfast service was a little strange-we had to request some food and coffee since none was available on the \"display\" even though we arrived relatively early. Some croissants were then put out (small amount) and others had to ask for food too.
There was NO elevator since the structure was old. That was understandable, however, it made it very difficult to carry up our luggage.

A great hotel in Orvieto!

What a charming hotel! 10 minutes from center of Orvieto. Lovely very large room with balcony overlooking pool. Comfortable bed/pillows. Wonderful, helpful staff. The restaurant is fabulous - a locals favorite with great food at reasonable prices. Breakfast, included in hotel price, was wonderful! Couldn't ask for more. We loved this place & would recommend to anyone VERY reasonable priced.

We had arranged a late check in because we were arriving into Rome quite late and then driving to Orvieto, Due to a massive GPS malfunction, we ended up arriving at 12:30 am instead of 10:00pm. They were welcoming and gracious upon our arrival, and we were able to have a great bottle of wine in our room to help unwind after the stressful drive. The room was very spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. Likewise the hotel itself was beautiful and the grounds that it occupies were very tranquil. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

BEAUTIFUL PROPERTY WITHIN HOURS DRIVE FROM ROME. PARKLIKE SETTING HIDES YOU FROM THE OTHERWISE BUSY SETTING. EXCELLENT STAFF AND RESTAURANT. STAYED IN TOWER SUITE. VERY NICE ROOM, LOTS OF SPACE. GREAT PLACE TO USE AS A HOME BASE FOR TRIPS TO ROME OR TO VISIT NEARBY SORANO OR EVEN A DAY TRIP TO THE COAST.

LOVED THE PROPERTY, BEAUTIFUL OLD COUNTRY HOUSE. RATHER FAR FROM ORVIETO, THOUGH. PARKED CAR JUST OUTSIDE THE WALLS, IT WORKED OUT. THE HOTEL SUPER CLEAN, ANNAELLEN (OWNER??) WAS WONDERFUL. SHE CHECKED US IN AND WENT ABOVE AND BEYOND TO HELP US WITH SOMETHING SHE REALLY DIDN'T HAVE TO. EVEN WITH THE LANGUAGE BARRIER, IT WAS PERFECT. BREAKFAST, BATH, WATER PRESSURE, BED WERE WONDERFUL. GORGEOUS SPOT.

Historic Hotel about 10 minutes from Old Orvietto

Stayed one night in this elegant Historic Hotel. It is convenient to visit old Orvietto if you have a car. The Hotel rooms are spacious and furnished with period pieces. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The Hotel has a restaurant featuring local recipes and well attended by locals as well as Hotel guests. There are extensive grounds and a swimming pool to relax after a busy day sight seeing. Breakfast featured home made cakes and pastries.
