An incredible resort. The cocktails and food are excellent, with the Lighthouse restaurant bordering on Michelin star quality. The variation of food and drink options across the 3 restaurants and 2 bars is vast.

A special mention is required on the service, which is second to none. From our private butler Saeed to the numerous staff across housekeeping, the restaurants and bars, the quality and attention to detail is unlike anything I have experienced before. Throughout our 7 nights at Baros there were no flaws - I cannot recommend this resort enough.

We have been fortunate to stay in many high-end hotels before and Baros tops them all.

The Baros Island is beautiful and has an amazing house reef, with plenty of sharks, turtles, rays and an amazing array of beautiful fish. The resort in parts is a little tired and but the management are on the case. The food and service were first class and made for an delightful two weeks. Our host Shinta was excellent, no request was too much trouble and she was on hand to assist with any issues that arose. A special mention to Keeth in F&B his dedication to service and guest care were excellent. As was Chef Lakshitha in his warm hospitality and wonderful menus/creations.

We enjoy my stays and foods there, but the island is so small plus with very limited public areas for all guests. There are too many restricted areas. Also, There were not too many colorful dishes we found compared to another Maldives islands we went. Kind of disappointing and very likely not returning because of these reasons.

The food at Baros is top notch. Breakfast was fantastic every day that I was there. I stayed in an overwater villa with great views. Snorkeling at the house reef gave way to views of wonderful underwater life. When I come back to Maldives, I will book this place without hesitation. As for the expedia option of pre-paying for dinner, don't. Just go a la cart and not feel obligated to eat at the same restaurant. It's priced such that you are getting the maximum priced items on the menu each night and only includes one of the three restaurants. The food is great at that restaurant though, so no complaints there. I would have preferred more flexibility in how I used those funds.

The Baros Hotel was one of the best resort experiences we have ever had! The island itself is beautiful and the resort blends in nicely with the environment. The staff were excellent and even helped us with staying on the island until our 1:45 AM flight. The food was excellent, especially the French cuisine at The Lighthouse. We will definitely come again. Shout out to our fantastic butler, Rau. She made everything she did seem effortless.

This is a peaceful retreat. The service is incredible, they are there but don't hassle you all the time asking if everything is alright. The transfers both to and fro from the airport are seamless we have been here five times and never had a problem. The food is really good with plenty of options. The reef has many fish,despite having rain most of the week we saw turtles,sharks,ray and over a 100 different fish. The reef is easily accessible from the shore in both low and high tide.

We have been on many trips around the world. The Baros Maldives trips is hands down the greatest trip. I think the beauty of the place is found in the size of the place and the services. The island is not huge and sprawling. Therefore, everything is at your fingertips. Want a massage? Walk 2 minutes over here. Want a GOOD bite to eat? Walk 3 minutes over here. Want a drink, a smoke, and to play some billiards? Walk 3 minutes here. Want to snorkel on a reef that other visitors on other islands have to travel an hour to do? Walk 5 minutes over here. They have their own house reef (which is rare in Maldives) with every possible marine animal you can imagine. Tons of colorful fish, colorful corals, sharks (do not worry they are not bad), rays, lobsters, turtles…a lot.

Want to just chill in a pool? Well you probably have one in your villa, so walk 10 seconds to it. Or walk 3 minutes to the infinity pool.

All of this is at your hands, so there is no wasted time. Instead of trying to figure out where you are going, you are already there enjoying. You cannot put a price on time, and this resort is a time-saver. The best vacation, and we have visited 30 countries.

Shout out to our butler Reema, and attendant Shah. They were the best. Yes, you have a butler and attendant 24/7. Did I forget to mention that?

Baros is a dream destination, located in between a lagoon and a beautiful reef. By the way, the house reef is incredible and you can spot many species, including sharks, turtles, rays and hundreds of species of fish.
The staff is super friendly and the breakfast is one of the best I’ve ever had. I would definitely recommend it and I want to go back.

If you are looking for a 5 star luxury boutique set on a private island with impeccable but not overly solicitous service look no further. Breakfast…best I’ve ever had. Reef snorkeling…unbelievable. Baros is the jewel of the Maldives celebrating 50 years but looks brand new. There’s a reason it was one of the first resorts! Ideal location and top reef. Thanks to Lala, Upsy and Hasir. Where to start!
I have travelled and been to many 5* hotels what I loved and found unique about the Baros hotel was the happiness and kindness of the staff. It was just such a positive happy place!
I highly recommend booking the water villa and our favorite restaurant was the lighthouse.
They have an amazing spa to not miss!
Snorkeling there was like swimming in an aquarium so many things to see you absolutely breathtaking
Overall book this hotel, I tried different ones in Maldives and this is by far my favorite one - they offer great perks for Expedia members

Our stay at the property was a really pleasant experience. A hotel representative was waiting at the airport as we exited the airport and took us straight to our private luxury boat transport. The boat staff was really courteous and served us chilled drinks. As we reached the property after a short 25 minutes ride, Our hostess & the Reception manager were waiting at the jetty. They took us straight to our over water villa and the check in was done from the villa while we were settling in. It was really smooth process and our hostess provided all the details about the property and created a whats app group through which we could communicate to her. The property was on a private island with a really nice lagoon around it. Sea life was abundant in the lagoon . We had couple of chances to snorkel and absolutely loved it. We did the half board plan and the restaurant had plenty of good options for breakfast and dinner. We loved the SPA and the staff. Sunrise and the blue water is something that will stay in our mind forever. Overall would really recommend the place for a romantic Getaway

Our first trip to Maldives was made all the more worthwhile by the Baros staff and property. Both the beach villa and the water villa were beautiful and the staff right from our villa host to the everyone at the restaurant were very helpful and welcoming. The housekeeping staff would leave nice little items for us in the evening like cake and biscotti. The amenities were all luxurious as well. Great food in both breakfast and dinner.

I have been to 5 five island resorts in Maldives, this one is the best. Coral reef surrounded the island, just minutes away from your villa . Scuba diving is also very pleasant, see lots of reefs, turtles, sharks and stingrays. Three restaurants are all good , provide different varieties. A rich and upscale wine selection. The villa is quiet and even with bad weather and big wave noises outside, you still can have a quite sleep, and this is very important since in some resort you woke up in the middle of night by noises of waves outside. Location wise, it is only 25 minutes from Male airport, convenient yet no plane noises also feel like a remote paradise. The island is not too small , not too big . A 10/10 . We will definitely come back again.

Maldives at its' best, Baros is a beautiful getaway. Well located, well run and well kept in shape. Service was impeccable, food was great, a beautiful atmosphere. The only negative, if any, is that the island is a little small and doesn't offer as many activities if you stay longer than a few days or are with kids.

The service was a truly rare combination of personal and professional; the property was exception and offered the perfect retreat with options for water and land activities. The food was perfect - exquisite cuisine (truly world class) with an abundance of healthy fresh sustainable offerings. Excellent wine list. After a 5-day culinary extravaganza - I was surprised I did not gain a pound. I am healthier, happier and more balanced through these past 5 days at Baros then I would have ever imagined. I don’t think I can find the right words to convey how beautiful the island is and awesome the staff are. Our two villa host Oleana (not sure if I spelled that right) and Zoro were amazing. They did an outstanding job of making sure we enjoyed our stay. The island is very small and we were absolutely okay with that. Even though it’s their rainy season, we didn't experience not a single drop of rain. They have 3 restaurants and 24/7 room service available. We only tried 2 out 3 restaurants- Lime and The Lighthouse and we also did room service a few times and all 3 were good. If you’re looking for a picturesque island, this is your go to. We definitely will be returning. I would post a few pictures, but honestly they don’t capture the beauty of the place.

The best vacation ever!!! In every aspect! This is an absolutely amazing place with the most stunning clear sea water we’ve ever seen. Our villa on the water was one of a kind. Everything was so comfortable and pampering to the last detail. Perfection, nothing less! I would definitely recommend the water villa with a private pool. It’s worth every dollar!! Especially I want to commend the welcoming and warm staff and above all Hisam, our villa host who’s done his utmost to meet our needs and requests. And made us really feel we are the only guest on the island. I’d also like to mention the delicious food in all the restaurants of the resort and they even cooked for us again one of the dishes we loved (Thank you chef Karime). This was a dream! I really cannot even begin to describe the feeling we had waking every morning into this beautiful turquoise water... dipping in our private pool in the morning with the infinite ocean to our feet.. then snorkeling in the sea among beautiful fish and so on and on... Don’t miss this experience!

I just left from a 5-day stay at Baros. If this is any indication of how much I enjoyed Baros, I confess I teared up as my speedboat left the resort. The staff standing at the jettie seeing me off really put that extra touch on a magical holiday. From the moment I arrived at the airport in Male to the time I checked in for my flight 5 days later, the staff at Baros ensured that I was well taken care of and that my time on the island was memorable. My villa host, Wisam, was attentive and made sure all of my needs were met. I even gained a friend in Domi, the Resort Experiences Manager. I definitely recommend Baros!

Breathtakingly Beautiful Baros

Our stay at Baros will forever be imprinted in our hearts. We've stayed at 7 other Maldives resorts (Conrad, Park Hyatt, W, Anantara Kihavah, Fairmont Sirru Fen Fushi and Outrigger) and Baros really stands out as one that we will return to over and over again.

Baros offers everything you need for a luxurious and relaxing, remote resort getaway including absolutely stellar service (from Rafaal, who greeted us at Male to our host Nasfaan, our favorite server ever Ahsan, Shijah, Domi and everyone you encounter on the island) delectable cuisine in a variety of settings including gorgeous onsite restaurants or a variety of mind-blowing special private dining options, super well-appointed accommodations, top-notch snorkeling right off their beach and any amenity you'd want including an awesome fitness center, a spa that will transport you to Bali, lots of quiet spaces like a library, game room, etc, a boutique and the list goes on and on. If for some reason you want to leave your heavenly room, deck or beach, you will not find yourself bored!

The island is small enough to not need buggies (it's really nice to not have to worry that a super quiet electric golf cart is speeding up behind you!) yet the design is such that the island never feels cramped and at many times, you feel you have so much of it to yourself. Baros is exactly what we needed for a complete disconnect from our crazy day-to-day lives and we can't wait to return. Highly recommend to all!

4.5 stars due to minor inconsistent service. The staff in the restaurant had some deficiencies which were rectified by management. We enjoyed almost all of the excursions except the dolphin cruise and evening fishing. We barely saw dolphins and felt it was a waste of time. For the fishing trip, my husband was very excited to catch his own tuna. The staff assured him that they are easily caught and showed him pictures from the last trip. Well apparently tuna can only be caught on the morning trip, and only other types come out at night. Later on the staff just said sorry for quoting the itinerary for the wrong trip but didn't take any actions to fix it. My husband was unhappy because he said he would not have gone on the trip at night if he had been read the proper description.

Loved the room (we stayed in a deluxe beach villa) and the service was amazing. Food was surprisingly good for a resort as well. The reefs had a lot of sea life; we saw sharks, turtles, and lots of fish. Baros is an easy boat ride from the airport, which is really nice (you're at the resort shortly after you land), but it's also one of the downsides: it doesn't feel as remote or as isolated as some of the other islands in the Maldives.

Fantastic 5* matches all, amazing house reef!

Luxury traveller, have stayed at 3 big name 5 star resorts in Maldives. Was sceptical about booking this hotel as hotels.com had overwater bungalow, apparently with pool, for half the price of a beach bungalow at other places...it seemed too good to be true (I did book only 5 days prior to stay..) But I had read that the house reef was about the best in Maldives and I am a diver, and I could use my $500 hotels.com free night voucher, I went for it.
I only had 1 night after a dive boat trip, but it was perfect. The overwater bunglaow was exactly that, the villa had the little 5* extras (flipflops, beach bag, raincoat, evian spray to keep), complimentary snack and bottle of wine - huge value in this country! I disagree with reviewer from Sept 2018 stay, it matched anything I've seen. Agree, no bikes but the island isnt that big. The rest of the complaints seemed to be about price - I got what an unbelievable deal at last minute so cannot comment. I do see the prices for 3 weeks time are back up to comparable to other.
House reef AMAZING, I snorkelled for hours with hawkbill turtles, chased reef sharks, did a night dive. This is absolutely the resort for you if you love snorkelling. The Wifi was good, the buffet breakfast extensive (marlin sashimi!), but also with a la carte eggs/meat etc. Room service menu very expensive but if you got a breakfast/dinner package?
Just confirm the transfer costs...hotels.com fineprint says US$238 return, I would get an email.

My wife and I stayed at a previous 5 star hotel before we reached Baros that seemed to include small touches to set them a part from Baros. While Baros is certainly a great hotel and everything it says it is, it just didn't have the touch of a 5 star hotel that the other one did. Everything is great, it's just for a similar price you can get more from other resorts that you wouldn't think of unless you experienced. For example:
-Baros had a luxury catamaran pick us up and take us to the airport- Same as the other hotel, but the other hotel's catamaran was enclosed with AC.
-For a similar price you can get an over water villa if that's what you like, vs. Baros's over water villas included an added upgrade charge which is expected
-It's a bit of a walk from the over water villas to places on the resort and the other hotel provided bikes. Not a big deal but this just made the stay easier
-We were offered an upgrade to stay in the premium villa at a low cost which was great, we just didn't think it was worth it with the upgraded villa being hidden under trees, as we enjoyed the sun of the beach but this was just our preference so we didn't upgrade
All in all, I know it's very picky, but I know trips to Maldives are very expensive so would recommend another resort if you are looking for a 5 star experience.

AMAZING!!!!!! The resort and staff exceeded our expectations. We were waited on hand and foot, they not only met all our requests but anticipated extras that they knew we would love without us even asking. We had our wedding on sight and their attention to every little detail was second to none, including the incredible photographer. The food was awesome and being celiac they went above and beyond for my dietary needs, even having the chef meet me at every meal and catering my dishes speciafically for me. We would also recommend the private sandbank dinner.....it was worth every penny! Having stayed at many of the worlds best resorts, this resort will be hard to beat and can surpass others on every level. We would highly recommend this to anyone.

This was our first stay in Maldives. After days of researches and reading reviews on TripAdvisor, our friend recommended us Baros and we were not disappointed by our choice. The staff is absolutely amazing, they meet your every needs. They are extremely attentif and friendly.

We have food intolerances (gluten and lactose which limits a lot ) and in all restaurants and at all time, our food requirements were meet with extreme caution and with delight. The chef came several times to talk to us and even made special dishes only for us. Everything was supper Yummy and fresh.

The hotel has a beautiful house reef where we were able to snorkel every day around with no difficulties. It was a delight to discover the species and colorful fishes.

The room are spacious, clean and are very comfortable with beautiful wood details. We stayed at a beach villa with a pool and it truly felt like being home.

We did a lot of activities on the island from fishing, local island discovery, dolphin watching, night snorkeling and all were great.

After one week at Baros, we extend another week because we really enjoyed our time there.
I truly recommend this hotel.

Great staff, villa, house reef & breakfast

Stayed in beach villa 105. Has a great layout. Outdoor bathroom was superb and room itself was wonderful. You basically step out of your patio into the ocean. Fins and mask+snorkel are provided free of charge at the marine center. You get 2x1.5L water everyday and top up of coffee machine pods. You also get life jackets in your room should you need them. You can really travel light. Everything you would need is provided for in the room.
The house reef is excellent. You don't really need to dive as the water is extremely clear. We saw lots of tropical reef fish, white & black tip sharks, turtles, giant trevally, eagle rays, starfish. The only difference from about 6 years ago is the coral that has been badly affected by global warming. But it's nice to see that some of it is recovering and the marine center is helping with replanting.
We highly recommend night snorkeling with the marine center staff. It is an unforgettable experience. You get to see lobsters, eels, sleeping turtle, lion fish, starfish, squid, sea slugs, crabs etc.

This was one of my best holidays , my husband & I went for a short break ( four days). It was such a nice holiday the staff were so nice and want to make you happy. They really make you feel royal.

I have celebrated my birthday during this holiday and the hotel staff really made sure to make this birthday so special.

There is no flaw I can recall. I would like to than everybody for making my short holiday such an unforgettable one.

Baros - living the dream

Beautiful island only 20 minutes speedboat transfer. Wonderful house reef and turquoise lagoon. Perfect for days existing of snorkelling and floating in the warm sea. We saw amazing sea life, turtles, black and white tip reef sharks, eagle ray, sting ray, clown fish, giant trevelli fish, so many to mention. Snorkel fins and mask were complementary.
The friendly staff were prepared to go the extra mile, set up a table especially for us on the beach near the water on Asian experience night and did the same without any prompting on BBQ night.
Food wonderful, lots of reef fish dishes, menus that highlighted Maldivian food. Breakfast buffet very good with welcome drink and waiter service. Food and wine expensive but it didn't stop us having delicious cocktails at sundown in the lighthouse bar! Cocktails served with the most delicious canapés, loved the spring rolls dipped in sauce! Dinner in the lighthouse restaurant was special, I had snapper fillets which were super gorgeous but needed a sauce. Coconut ice cream is a dream and an absolute must have. Island has enough a la carte restaurants with enough variation in the menu along with the themed evenings.
The beach villas are private and beautifully maintained, everything is within easy walking distance. Only need flip flops even for the managers cocktail party!
We had perfect weather, calm seas and a fabulous time. Only a slight issue with the bill at the end and could have given it more attention to getting it right.

Amazing R&R break in Paradise

The resort is located on a small tropical island, which is a coral reef. My room was a villa located on the beach (rather than over water). Room was huge: king bed, very spacious living area, very large bathroom, outdoor secluded shower area in garden. Large porch and direct access to the beach.
Staff came 3 times per day to clean, check and prepare room. I had a personal villa attendant to make bookings, advise on daily excursions, and attend to any needs. Beach was on an enclosed lagoon, and a short snorkel to the reef. Snorkeling gear was complimentary from the dive center.
I was there for a 2 day break between work assignments, so really only wanted to spend time at the beach, snorkel, relax, and have some down time. Food was very good and more than plentiful helpings; lots of cuisine diversity as well.

Best stay in Maldives

This is our third resort stay in Maldives and Baros is certainly the very best we had experienced -- incredible sunset view from our water villa, attentive service from the staff all around the resort, excellent food from especially the Lighthouse restaurant. The house reefs are superb -- we saw turtles, sharks and lobsters, on top of the myriad of fish. The sunken speed boat also has an abundance of activity around it.
It's the first time we felt compelled to write a review. We hope Baros continues to maintain its high standards.

I never write reviews, but I am compelled to just say that this was one of the most pleasant stays of my life. From start to finish, from staff to fishing. From snorkeling the reefs to just laying around doing nothing. Superb! Great for a honeymoon. If you can, the waterfront pool villa is the way to go. Super private ;) ...and I thought Miami was paradise... HA!

Visited during the off season - which was still beautiful weather and little short of paradise. The island is perfect, the staff so friendly and welcoming from the first greeting to the final send off. The dive shop was great, again so friendly and knowledgeable. The final dive to Manta Point was pure TV come to life - awesome. A very special hotel and we can't wait to go back.

Excellent Resort with amazing food options !

We stayed here for 5 days and enjoyed the place overall. The island is small but with a lot of activities to do.
Snorkeling, Scuba Diving and other things provided by every 5 star. Since we were vegetarians the hotel did a lot to cater to our dietary restrictions !
The PIANO DECK experience is a must do !

I recommend talking to Abdullah the F&B manager on the resort who will do his best in preparing the food even if its not on the menu !

Perfect resort!

All facilities are well maintained - clean and comfortable. Staffs are friendly, well trained and responsive. Guests are, half honeymooners in the season, but still decent people mostly. Usually calm and relaxing. Foods cannot be complained in an Islamic island.

Incredible and one of the best in the world!

Great Resort, unbeatable location and wonderful staff. We had the best time of our life over the 8 days spent in the hotel just last week. Could not ask for more. Staff is so friendly, amenities are amazing and management makes you wish all hotels were this well managed. Although quite a distance from the Pacific Northwest, we may consider visiting the Maldives again and staying at Baros.

It was our frst time visiting the Maldives and Baros lived up to everything we wished for. Being only 25 minutes by speed boat from the airport we wondered about aircraft noise but only seen 2 planes in 5 days and heard no noise. The staff were very friendly and couldnt do enough for you. After a long 20+ hours flight from Canada, we knew this will be the best vacation that we ever had from the moment my husband and I arrived at Baros!

Room: We stayed in a water pool villa with a beautiful infinity pool overlooking the stunning ocean. The room was spacious. My husband always wears slippers in any hotel that we stayed at, but not at Baros. The room was very clean and the hardwood floor didn't even have a spec of dust. It was very cute to watch him walk around barefoot in the room as well as in the restaurants.

Breakfast-delicious and a wide variety of fruits.

The bar at the Lighthouse- Our favourite place to hang out! The comfortable lounge chairs faced the ocean and had
an amazing view. Relaxing!

SANDBANK dinner - the moment we arrived with the speedboat, we were greeted by 2 staffs! Shazyl sat us down on the chair facing the sunset with a bottle of the champagne while our private chef cooked our lobster. A private table along with torches on the white sandbank in the middle of the blue Indian Ocean- this was the most romantic moment that my husband and I shared. An expensive dinner, but worth every penny.

Snorkelling: Just outside of our water villa. Lots beautiful fish and turtles!

English is my second language. I often try to avoid writing any reviews or comments. However, for Baros, I felt the need to share my amazing experience with others.

Baros made the Maldives the most memorable place for us. Definitely highly recommend Baros to everyone!

Amazing place, location and accommodations. Perfect, magazine-picture like nature. Any picture you take will come out perfect because of how amazing the water and the island is. The food is perfect. Loved their breakfast with a lot of exotic fruits. Workers are very friendly and go out of their way to make the tourists' experience perfect. The room host, Najah was lightning fast to respond to anything we needed momentarily. Although there were 180 people on this small island, my wife and I felt like it was just only a few couples and a lot of workers for us. Felt extremely private. Excursions and tours were not crowded. The largest group we were with was on the dolphin sunset watching cruise with only us two and 2 other couples. Our over water bungalow was incredible-- clean, new and contemporary with an out-of this-world sunset view.I can't even count how many times per day the bungalow gets cleaned. We would go for a short walk or a snorkel, and every time we got back the room would be clean, bed made up etc (if you don't want them to go into your room, you can just put sign \"do not disturb\"). And, of course, there is the ocean. No words! No matter how eloquently I try to describe it, it will be a ton better in person! The life in the crystal clear water is rich with sharks (the good ones), turtle, sting rays, diverse and colorful fish and corals. Honeymoon experience of a life time! No surprise that Maldives is often rated as one of the top 3 world honey moon destinations
