"I recently had an amazing stay at Hamra Urban Gardens in Beirut. The vibe of the hotel is incredibly unique—it’s the perfect blend of urban cool and traditional Lebanese hospitality. The rooftop pool is a sanctuary in the middle of Hamra, and the whole place feels like a vibrant community.
However, what truly made this trip unforgettable was the incredible people I was with. I want to extend a special thanks to Hossam, Fadia, Wessam And Samer.

Pros are the staff were super nice, housekeeping staff very friendly, I thought the breakfast was good, though the same every day, got to work out for free in the attached gym, big plus. Now the reason for the low score are the cons, there is a club attached that plays loud music until 1am and the whole hotel is affected by the loud noise. I was on the fourth floor and felt like I was sitting inside the club it was that loud, plus cigarette smoke filled my room during the night, the club music starts nightly at 10p and ends at 1a, so if you stay here don't expect to fall asleep until after 1am. Since I didn't sleep well during my three nights I tried taking a nap during the day but the street noise is so loud in my room I had to check to make sure I didn't leave the window open and yup it was closed plus there was someone drilling in the room next to me, beside me, above me and all around me for hours, so no rest during the day or night. I stayed here for three nights and didn't get a good restful sleep any of those days. Plus no hot water at night. Again pros and cons to this hotel but you want a hotel to be a peaceful place away from home and I scored this place low because this was not that peaceful restful place for me

Stayed here several times now. Very practical place in terms of accessibility to several areas in Beirut. Clean. Great staff and service. Wonderful traditional Lebanese breakfast can be included. Fridge and safe in room. 24/7 power (not a given in Beirut) Only issue is the very loud pounding music on Friday and Saturday nights from the restaurant. Plan to use earplugs or stay up till 1:30am. We will be back soon!

Our second stay at HUG. Overall good place considering the cost. The low rates mean it's always full and busy. Good location. Good service. Clean. Washer and dryer are an attractive addition but old and the dryer just doesn't dry. Wish the terrace was open since we had sunny warm days but it's closed for the winter. 2 major issues: it's supposed to be a non-smoking facility but people smoke in the rooms and you can smell it in the hallway and drifting under the doors. Including one night in the neighboring room where they were smoking weed. Second major issue: Friday and Saturday nights they had live music at the club and the pounding music went on until 1:30am... can hear it all the way to 5th floor. One minor issue: key to the room gets deprogrammed on its own for some reason (they said when it's close to cell phone or in wallet) so one has to try to get in the room, realize it doesn't work, then go back to get it reprogrammed. Happened daily to us. If HUG could work on the smoking issue, we would definitely go back.

Really enjoyable stay. The prices are really amazing for this place. The location "Hamra" is at a busy shopping area so there are lots of shopping options and also not far away from the ocean at all.

It seemed like a common local place as well because of the wonderful cafe and gym that is also available to the public.

I recommended this hotel to my friends several times, for now, I'm not recommending them at all, nothing inside the room for a normal 3 stars hotel, even no drinking water. Towels smell sucks, dirty sheets, bad bathroom, very bad customer helpdesk, they charge a lot of money with very bad internet, almost no internet and bad electricity

What I enjoyed most about HUG was the rooftop pool and bar, pleasant both day and night. The food is good and the atmosphere is lovely. My hotel room was spacious and clean, and somewhat minimalist. The bed was very comfortable. The room was equipped with a fridge, a tv, and a safe, none of which I used. The staff was very nice. I'd certainly stay there again.

My room door card wasn’t working so I asked for another room they said that we should try to fix it first. When it wasn’t fixed they changed my room. They refused my late check out. They ask you to put mask for COVID but the staff themselves are not putting. No electricity in the morning and even they cut it in the afternoon even thought I’m paying in fresh dollar.

My stay was great and super comfortable. The staff was awesome and friendly and super helpful. Special thanks to Rami and Ahmed. The pool at the rooftop is super chill and has amazing food and drinks, so does Em Nazih (the restaurant which is for the hotel). I highly recommend for anyone to stay at Hamra Urban Gardens. However, when it comes to cleaning the rooms, more days need to be added to the schedule, other than that it was great.

Amazing hotel. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. It’s like one huge happy family. The suite was super large. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. Just bring earplugs cos it can be noisy. Gym below but never had time to use it. Food excellent and plentiful. Can’t recommend it highly enough. I’m late 60s and travelled with my daughter. Uber’s arrive in no time at all and a great location for bars and restaurants and great for walking around

A lively hotel in the heart of beirut!

I took a group of friends here. We really enjoyed staying at HUG: the service was excellent, the food was brilliant and the rooms were clean.

My only critique is that the live music from the restaurant goes on until 1-2am and so if you like to go to bed before then, you need to stay on the 5th or 6th floor to minimise the music in your bedroom.

Very good option. Location is great. Dormies are big and clean. Beds are comfortable with enough privacy and own light/plug. Breakfast is included and very good.
Just a suggestion: you need to ask for the key locker and the towels and maybe you notice they are missing when you're already in the room, so you need to go back to the reception. This could be easily solved by giving both at the check in.

Wonderful funky no frills hotel in Hamra. Remi at the reception desk was extremely helpful, as were all personnel. Breakfast was extensive, even pancakes. Photo below is of the guys making sure you have a great breakfast. Roof terrace with pool and good bites. Highly recommended.

Overall great place and would consider staying here again, depending on the type of travel. I.e. as a solo traveler be warned that this is a HOTEL, not a HOSTEL. It has no shared areas where you can bring and eat your own food etc.. The rooftop is amazing, but it has the hotel atmosphere - not hostel. Just keep that in mind when booking.

Furthermore, I was very disappointed by the cooperation of the staff to modify my booking. I.e. shift it backwards by 1 day, this made sense as I had arrived in the midst of the night on the check in - day, therefore I would have had to wait another 10h for my room to be ready. But as you can think, after a trip this late you just wanna crash and sleep. So after they politely refused my request to modify my booking, I had to book another additoinal night (for my arrival night) and waste the deprature day, since my dep. flight was also very early in the night and my room was left unused.

Last but not least, expect the hotel stuff to "rambo" into your room once in a while to show the rooms to potential new guests. This is highly unprofessional as they dont even knock - this was usually during the day where the people are out. But nevertheless, unprofessional imo.

Big plus for:
+ the gym
+ the rooftop pool, apart from the point mentioned above

Location is grest in the heart of Beirut and close to everything.
Traffic and parking were an issue but that's the overall situation in Beirut not only the hotel. You have to park in one of the near by parking lots if luck to find a spot, my next option was to walk or commute with shared taxi (make sure to bargain the fare)
Staff were friendly and helpful.

Room is clean, quite and spacious, queen beds were comfortable my concern was bedsheets stains :( sheets are clean but have visible stains that are annoying.
Rooftop area is nice and so is the restaurant.
Overall the hotel is clean and organized close to many restaurants bars and shops. 15 to 20 minutes from the airport by car. About 7 to 8 minutes to AUB and bliss Street walking.

I don't normally leave reviews (because I'm lazy lol) but this is a great base if you're visiting Beirut and are interested in a cool, urban oasis to return to, after a long day of sightseeing. The mid sized hotel is packed with incredible amenities like a rooftop garden / pool / bar, a 24hr open gym and a great resto with live music. The staff was very polite and highly skilled in what they do. The only problem I had was that there was a strange hint of a sewer smell in my bathroom.

Good for the price, however the elevators are quite old, and made moving around with a toddler very challenging. Outsiders besides hotels guests come in and out at all times because there is a gym and some sort of convention center inside. The AC in the room was directed towards one area, so you were either freezing and or overwhelmed with the heat of summer.

Friendly front desk staff. Willing to answer questions and prompt when their help was needed. The staff at breakfast however, not so friendly. They looked too serious thus not making them approachable.
Internet says typical Lebanese breakfast, unfortunately I didn’t enjoy it. The orange juice however, for a surcharge, was delicious.
The room itself was great, specious, comfortable bed and pillows.
Hotel is in a walkable area with lots of shopping (nothing high end), pubs, and restaurants.
Ugh, the WiFi at the hotel, was a disappointment. Every call I made via watsapp would drop constantly.
All in all, I highly recommend HUG.

Great budget hotel with good faciltiies

Ok so if you are on a budget or just want to be in the thick of it (Hamra I mean) this is a great hotel. If you want a totally relaxing time early to bed early to rise, then forget it. The rooms are not sound proofed (The couple next door were definitely having a good time) and due to the location you hear every car horn going off as if it is in your bedroom. The hotel also plays music into the early hours most nights. If you are on the 3rd floor and sensitive to noise it will be an issue for you. Take ear plugs. It is very clean and service is good. What sells it is the roof top pool and staff are very nice. The gym is well equipped. Getting around Beirut can cost and my advice is DO NOT take a taxi ordered from the hotel, you will pay double. Just go on the street flag down a red number plate taxi, negotiate a price and get in. It is easy. The breakfast needs improving. I like humus but everyday! and for breakfast.. not really. They need to provide some other options. Hard boiled eggs were on offer but most of the time they were cold. Overall good hotel for the price in a great location, but if you want peace and quiet forget it. .

Perfect for anyone on a budget - it's basic, but has absolutely everything you need and is around the corner from loads of restaurants, bars and shops in Hamra. The towels and linens could maybe do with updating, but everything gets cleaned/replaced every day so it was never a problem. 100% recommend.

Lively and characterful spot in the heart of Hamra

Great place in the heart of the lively and popular Hamra district of Beirut, just a short walk from the American University and the Corniche. The room was very clean, with comfortable double-bed, air conditioning, hot shower and TV with local and international channels. Wi-Fi connection in the room was poor, but good throughout the rest of the hotel. Breakfast is served in the bar/restaurant area, with choice of tea/coffee, flat-breads, and a good selection of hummus, dips, stews, eggs, cheese and pancakes; all very delicious and filling, perfect for a long day of sightseeing. The bar/restaurant has a good menu for lunch and dinner too, and is open to the general public, so gets an eclectic mix of locals and travellers. The place has a very friendly and relaxed ambience. There is a gym and a rooftop pool and bar, where you get one complimentary drink. There was some live music on in the bar until midnight on the night of my arrival, which was a bit loud, but otherwise I had a good night's sleep every night. Overall, the stay was very pleasant, good value for money, and I would stay here again if I came back to Beirut.

Nice staff to be honest, good internet connection and good location next to Hamra Street if you are new to Beirut. However water was yellowish, they might want to check that out, cleaning is superficial. As I came on business, it was annoying to have music blasting in the corridor and coming into the room because of hotel parties two nights in a row.

Hotel located on a busy main road but central to many places, so a good location for restaurants, bars, shopping. If you do stay here get a room on the 5th floor where both street noise and hotel noise may not affect you.
The hotel had live music events on Thursday, Friday and Saturday night until 1am. It was totally unacceptable. On the Saturday night the hotel moved me from 3rd to 5th floor, I could still here the music but it was much quieter. I was very disappointed as had I known about these music events I would not have booked the hotel.
The booking included breakfast which was ok but not enough variety and included 1 tea/coffee and juice or water. Normally tea/ coffee is not restricted in hotels around the world.
The rooms were spacious, bed was comfortable but the bathrooms need updating and the towels replacing as they were no longer white. Good aircon and Wi-Fi although the Wi-Fi was a bit slow.

Stayed 2 nights at Hamra Urban Gardens and had good experience. The hotel incorporates a nice bar/restaurant on the first floor as well as rooftop (w/ pool) which provides ample space to relax. Many restaurants within short walking distance (2-10 mins) on Hamra street. The room was no frills but had all the basics. Breakfast was included but is limited to a small selection. Would recommend for those looking in Hamra area.

Best hotel at this price in Beirut by a mile

Amazing value, fantastic rooftop pool, large clean rooms, wonderful staff and a lovely Lebanese breakfast, all in the perfect Beirut location. What more can you ask for?

Hidden gem!

Loved this place! The rooms were very clean, the staff helpful, the pool was lovely and the restaurant was great too! In the vibrant Hamra area. We had a great time... stayed here for a week and would return if we visit Beirut again!

Towels where in miserable condition got only 3 for two people and housekeeping staff were reluctant to give more when we asked for extra.
No noise insulation can hear next door room and housekeeping knocking to clean room next door. It’s ok for a quick night would rate it as a 3 star hotel max. Beds comfortable but linens were not.
Breakfast was good. It’s over priced for what u get.

Nice hotel

Great hotel with very friendly staff, The room gas A/C and very comfortable beds. Right next to great restaurants and pubs.

Nice bars and swimming pool.

Only criticism is the breakfast. you're only allowed 1 coffee and one cold drink.

Cosy, friendly time

We had a wonderful stay. HUG is relaxed, friendly, young & vibrant. The bed was comfy, hot showers, free drink & tea/cake. Breakfast could be a little more exciting.
