This was my another stay at Gems Beirut. I like Hamra location and always enjoy the hotel is located in the heart of that district. There are many restaurants bars and shops around making this hotel a good spot.I needed to amend slightly my reservation and the hotel staff was very much helpful and friendly to address my issue. It was my second stay at the Gems in Beirut. The staff is always very helpful and ready to assist with any cases. I received a specious room which was great and everything was ready for me even though I arrived a little bit earlier. The hotel has great location, the AC works very well as well as Wi-Fi which is important. I highly recommend this property while visiting Beirut.

Great place in the centre of Hamra district. Very well kept hotel. Spacious room with sitting area and kitchenette. Comfortable bed but the pillows could be better. Clean bathroom with bidet. Kitchenette has electric kettle and microwave. Paid 5 usd for a wallet parking per night. Good buffet breakfast. Lots of eateries and groceries in the neighbourhood.

Disappointing stay

I was upgraded from standard to junior suite. The suite was not very clean, towels were all ripped, bed sheet was also torn at different spots. There were no sanitary amenities in the bathroom as well. Not worth the price paid for.

Rooms were a good size. Problem started at check-in, they didn't have my file. Luckily I printed it out and then they found it. Fan in the room kept turning off and called to fix but no one ever came after 2 calls. Upon checkout they charged my card and then after I got home found out they re charged me with no explanation. Please don't stay

The check in wasn’t the best experience as they didn’t have the room that we booked available and had to give us another one. Also, some of the front desk staff weren’t the nicest. Sometimes, nobody was even present at the front desk and the hotel is in a busy street, so anybody could just walk in.

Doors can be closed off a little more at the bottom (bright light gets into the room through the bottom). AC made some noise - INSTANTLY fixed it - good staff that way.

Nice hotel, well-located, very clean with friendly staff. HOWEVER, if you need to be able to use Wi-Fi for anything at all while you're away, I'd suggest looking elsewhere as the Wi-Fi is absolutely abysmal.

Breakfast was ok, but they need a new toaster - this one very slowly warms one side of your bread, and that's it. They clearly take a lot of money from breakfast so to not invest in one that works is really poor.

The hotel was centrally located in the Hamra district in Beirut. The internet in the room 209 I had was spotty but the internet in the lobby was excellent. The passwords for the room and the lobby are different. The hotel rooms have refrigerator, stovetop and microwave but NO tableware or utensils or pots or pans. You need to call the restaurant to order. Breakfast wasn't included in the price I was quoted thru Expedia but was available for a few dollars a day. Breakfast had several Lebanese dishes, breads, scrambled eggs, juice, cheese fruits and juices as well as coffe, hit chocolate and teas.

Last day before I leave I found 3 cockroaches in the bathroom!! The receptionist reaction to the matter was very strange as if this is ok!!
The day before it I couldn’t sleep because the pillow cover was so rough. I spoke to the receptionist at 3 am he said that’s what we only have. Next day I asked room service, she was surprised that they left the pillows this way without a proper cover.
For those light sleepers don’t even think of booking here, too noisy!
Overall I don’t recommend it, defiantly overrated.

Hotel is in a great location. The rooms were very clean and the bed was very comfortable.

The room we booked, deluxe, was advertised as having a desk but really it was just a high table underneath the tv without a chair. Very inconvenient as I had some work to do during the trip.
The breakfast is average. I would recommend not paying for breakfast and eating out at some of the nearby bakeries.
They seemed to have an issue with the electricity as it kept cutting out but it did always come back on seconds later. WiFi is weak but you can make do. The staff at the reception was friendly but the breakfast room staff could be friendlier.

It is called apparthotel and is equipped with a microwave a fridge and an oven, but no plates, forks, knives or spoon. Therefore we cannot really use those to enjoy a meal. Also the hotel couldn’t provide me with wine glasses, just glasses. On the other habd, it was close to many good restaurants, and the Corniche/pigeon hole. I did like my stay, but there is improvement to be done.

We booked the hotel for the location and were very happy with the area. The hotel was very comfortable and the staff was helpful and accommodating. One slight problem, we had booked a car for pickup at the airport. I had given the hotel the flight info and called to let them know the flight was delayed. I also called again when I knew what time the flight would land. Unfortunately this was not communicated with the driver and no one was there to pick us up. Not a problem because taxis were easy to find but still a little frustrating. And hotel staff seemed confused as to why we didn’t use the driver. It might have been a language barrier issue.

Great hotel for the price

This was a great hotel for the price and in a good area, just off the main street in what seems to be a Beirut equivalent of Oxford Street. The room was immaculate, and the bathroom was better than many 4* hotels I have stayed in in the UK. As well as the normal facilities in the room, there was a hob, proper sized fridge, microwave and extractor fan, so if you were there for a longer time, you don't have to rely on eating out every night. I did have a problem with the swipe card for the room - for the first two days it only intermittently worked, and I kept having to go down to reception to get them to sort it out. However, they seemed to get it working eventually. There was no breakfast included in the rate I paid, but they have a buffet breakfast for $10 US; I didn't bother - there's plenty of places to get something small for breakfast around, and for substantially less than $10 US.

The \"Excellent\" Reviews Are Confusing.

Check in was easy, but the hotel staff was not very welcoming. It felt like I was putting them out by showing up. I assumed that breakfast was included based on several reviews, but was told it would be an extra $10 a day per person. The room was very simple and appeared to be clean. It did smell of smoke even though I requested a non-smoking room. The bathroom had refilled bottles of hand soap, shampoo, and lotion. The bottles all looked like they'd been refilled too many times. The shower had quite a bit of mildew which made me wonder if there was really only the appearance of cleanliness. On the second day, all of our towels were taken and not replaced. When I asked for more, again, I felt as if I were an irritation to the staff. The noise mentioned by other posters was definitely an issue even in the middle of the week. Not only was street noise heard in our room until the early morning hours, but the lobby full of chatting ladies was loud and clear in our first-floor room. Even though the hotel claims to have airport transport, I booked my own. After I asked for help getting a taxi to Beirut Souks, the concierge told me it would cost twice what it should.

Gems hotel is a nice place although its front staff appear very unfriendly and generally not engaged with guests as they enter and leave. They also did not ask me whether I wanted a non-smoking room and I was assigned a smoking room which ended up fine but as per my first note, they just didn't seem to care about their jobs or trying to be pleasant to hotel guests.

Rude, unkempt and unfriendly staff who look you over from top to bottom when you walk in like they didn’t want to be working there. No welcome, and no help after my 26 hour flight at checkin! Room was very dirty and had to argue with the front desk lady for someone to come clean it. I gave them a second chance but they blew it really. Appalling Bad service, I don’t recommend this place to anyone and this is the last time I stay here. As a hospitality professional myself, Management should look into the people they’re hiring, they’re driving guests away.

The lady at checkin is Unpresentable, rude and unfriendly. She did not greet us when we arrived, I had a long flight and she gave us a hard time to check in saying we had to pay extra even though I had done the payment online. I paid the extra money with no questions but she was still being difficult as to why my reservation was wrong. Hotel staff should never argue with people. So unprofessional. I discovered the bathroom in a MESS. The toilet was Dirty and used and was still wet with spots on it and the floor. I called the reception to complain and she immediately argued with me and said NO the bathroom is clean! She didn’t even offer to send someone to see or clean it. She has No reason to argue like this. I received no apology from any of the staff although I should have called the manager but after a long flight I was too tired to complain. This is not the first time that happens either. Then I overheard the bell boy who took out my bags using words he shouldn’t be saying in public. I cannot believe HOW RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL ALL THE STAFF ARE. Totally unacceptable behavior and treatment and service!!

Terrible experience. I stayed 7 nights. Room was getting so hot during night and they can’t lower the temperature because the hotel was centerlised and no adjustment from the room. Opened the window, too much noise outside. The front desk said it’s contrilled from main office they can’t do anything. Room very clean, good location. Lady from customer relationship was very nice she gave me free upgrade.

I would like to thank the Gems Hotel in Beirut for upgrading my room.

As you can see from the photos, the facilities were very nice. The staff at the Gems Hotel could not have been more helpful. The Ladies at the Front Desk reception area were great. Housekeeping was prompt and thorough.

The Gems Hotel provides good value for the money.

The Gems Hotel is located approximately one block away from Hamra Street, Hamra street is a commercial area with a lot of shops and restaurants, There are also a couple of grocery stores located near the Hotel.

The American University of Beirut is within walking distance of the Gems Hotel.

We arrived early and we were checked immediately. Our room was clean. The air condition is strong and the wifi signal in the room is acceptable.
