The room was clean, shower, staff, all very good. Unfortunately the whole building needs to get knocked down, and redone. Very old building.

I waited an extra week before writing this poor review as I have contacted them 2more times since I left hoping for a response and assistance, nothing. I requested a quiet room, the young brown haired female worker was very unkind and unprofessional. She has put me in the noisiest room on purpose next to a room where cleaning staff have been banging against the wall my bed is on for four hours in their work area, i asked for late checkout she completely disregarded my request. I prearranged 2 nights in same room she also disregarded and insisted made me awake before 11am to come down and recheck in. Zero courtesy. Zero respect. Noisy room. Palpable animosity. Terrible experience. In a town with many options she has chosen to lose you a customer. Asked again for late checkout was told no again. Dont have the strength to change rooms. Stuck with noise noise noise all morning again. No rest. Complained on expedia got a completly tone deaf generic reply from you at vernon downs saying you hope you exceeded my expectations. Please have management contact me.
Judith
Our stay was amazing. Room was clean. Beds were so comfortable. Grounds were well maintained. Wait staff was exceptional. We had a great stay.
Toni
Parking was easy and convenient. Room was comfortable. Casino is small but perfect size for me.
Renee
Rooms were very clean and it was very quite. Location of the hotel was great.
Theresa
The room was large-nice sitting area and a table with two chairs. My biggest complaint is that 1) every room should be equipped with bars in the bathroom (tub especially) as older people need something to hold onto when showering and 2) the hotel refused to provide me with a receipt when I checked out. I have used hotels.com on many occasions and the hotel always gives a receipt. This hotel said hotels.com (i.e., Expedia) needed to supply the receipt. I argued that point: I paid the hotel, not Expedia!!!!! They finally said they would email it to me but never did. UNACCEPTABLE.
Tiffany
I enjoyed having the casino and racing event going on during our stay.

Pool was down. Had little kids excited for it. Fire alarm went off in middle of the night because of a fault in the system. No money given back. Will not be back.

Bathroom smog like mold.the facilities were nasty. The only good part of The Visit was the staff was decent. I am absolutely surprised that please still exists.
Brenda
The parking was very convenient, and staff was very friendly. We enjoyed the bar in the evening. Drinks were very cheap and they had a band on Saturday night. We both won money that night at the casino!
Richard
The entire staff was friendly and accommodating. I had mentioned I was unable to make the 12am check-in deadline for my first night's stay and upon my arrival at 5am, my room had already been secured, and I was handed the key. After a five hour drive, the special accommodations were very much appreciated.
Hats off to the chef of Mr. G's too. That was the best breakfast burrito (veggie) I have ever had.
I would definitely stay there again.

Hotel was perfect for my winter weekend getaway. Rooms were spacious and clean.

What the hotel and hotel.com call double beds are only a double if you weigh about 100 pounds each. Hockey tournament kids running up and down the hallways welll after midnight. Desk told me they had many complaints. But didn't seem like staff did anything to stop the mayhem. We will NEVER go back
Sandra
Very pleasant. Great buffet
Louis
If you like the slots this would be a good place to stay
Amy
Room was big and clean.

Everything was great/rooms/ checkin except the neglect from security to enforce the noise issues all night from room few doors down. Kept us up with the crazy screaming and fighting to find out in morning there was a stabbing/Domestic culmination and boyfriend was bleeding all over. Security panicking and calling paramedics etc Just wasn't a safe feeling night for us. Think coupd have all been avoided with security that would have stepped in overnight.
Rqting for hotel was great! the way they handled violators of noise and violence poor, we will think twice after that experience staying there again.

Staff were not the most friendly microwave in the room didn’t work I was told they didn’t have another one anyplace after I complained they brought another microwave to the room the manager was rude and unprofessional
Deana
The room was very dingy with stains on the rugs and in the bathroom. There was also what seems to be blood on one of the walls. The common spaces were also very dirty (elevators, hallways, lobby area). The whole place smells like smoke.
Douglas
Room was spotless, the staff was outstanding.
William
Yes the casino felt lively
Lisa
Worked out perfect for a venue we had to attend. All staff professional and friendly!

Besides no breakfast on Saturday or Sunday it was a great experience!
lisa
It was an older place but rooms had lots of updates. Our room had a couch table and chairs and a sink microwave fridge and coffee maker. Was very spacious ( 3 floor even #s no view Hot tub was not bad not large (6) could’ve been a little hotter The casino was a decent size with a good variety of slots Restaurants good variety for not a large place. We had the Friday buffet and it was worth it. Breakfast to go so we could eat in the room was great for the price
Silvia
Ok place to stay but dining was poor. Cafeteria style only on-site
STEVEN
Clean, quiet and with several dining options. We chose the buffet but it was only Ok. Friendly staff.
Anthony
The entire place was very good, we will most likely return as we travel to Boston three to four times a year. The only negative was the a/c unit made very excessive noise. We would have called about it, but we were in the casino and didn't return to our room until late.
Joseph
Very approachable at sign in, nice clean roomy room, quiet. Asked for a second coffee pod, got it! Let the sun shine in that morning, all felt good.
Sandra
Bed was comfy. Sheets were soft. Nice clean room. A little cold for September.
Brian and Lori

Clean, but nothing special.
Came in for a wedding. Room was clean, but hotel property was not well maintained. Why only 2 towels in a room designed for 4 people?
Thomas

Vernon Down hotel is one of the best in the area. Staff is friendly and hotwl and well kept.
Mary Anne
The staff was friendly and accommodating. I requested and was able to check in early to be able to get ready for a nearby wedding. The only mirror in the room was in the bathroom. The hotel is a little aged with colors although it was clean. I had a good breakfast in the restaurant at a reasonable price.
Eileen
Great little overnight :)
theresa
Stopped on our way cross country. Rooms were nice and comfy. Stopped on a Monday night when all restaurants were closed, which was disappointing. Just a small fast food place. Nice casino!
Kelly
Would have appreciated a better breakfast. There was only bagels, donuts. Bread. No protein, no waffle maker, no cereal. Not what you expect from a hotel
Logan
Good
Susan
Do not recommend!
The hotel was really tired and expensive! Ripped sheet, yucky old blankets, super dark room with very little lights, burned out lights, faucets leaked and would not turn off, no water bottles and broken phone.
Breakfast was packaged pastries and coffee

The air conditioner was a little loud but it worked good. Great internet service. Comfortable beds very clean. Pool was wonderful.
JOHN
Clean and convenient.
Beth
The bathroom was not stocked, shower gel and toilet paper were empty. Shower floor not clean, ceiling cracked and peeling. Entrance trash bins were overflowing. Breakfast was all carbohydrates and sugar, no eggs or meat. I am a diabetic and there were no options for someone watching their sugar intake. Carpets in the hall were stained. Property seems more neglected each time we stay while prices continue to rise. Disappointing. I stay for the convenience. Bar and restaurant not open at all. Could understand limited hours, but not open at all is disappointing.
Jonathan
The place was very outdated and felt ran down, our ac stopped working. The elevator started going up as soon as the doors open and one stop making anywhere from 3-5 inch lip, it didn’t do it everytime but at least 4 times while we were there for 2 days.
Perry
Restaurants not open our stay.
Jason
Air conditioner did not work very well but other than that it was a nice

It was nice and quiet

While leaving the hotel to go to your casino,at the front desk we asked if we could purchase some kind of headache medicine. The lady took us to your locked store/room and just found empty boxes so she went to get full cases to restock. After purchasing her tylenol she asked for water. They said walk down the hall to vending. Vending machine was broken. I told them and asked if they had a cup of water or something back there. Nope! I said that’s OK I will walk all the way back up to our room so I can get my wife a water from our room that we brought in with us. As I turned around when we went into the elevator to go back to our room I looked over and saw them laughing.
Maybe they thought it was funny but we sure didn’t. I would expect a much higher level of service from a hotel casino. I am absolutely positive that if they wanted to help my wife get some water she would not have had to go back to her room just to take an aspirin. Those shelves should’ve been already stocked and they could’ve at least pretended like they cared about taking care of the guests. The lady at least stood up to disappoint us. The young punk guy just sat there not caring.
There would be some changes happening at my hotel if I owned it

Nice spot!
In an area of very expensive hotels, this was a great option. Reasonably priced, comfortable and clean. There is a continental breakfast which you can have on the terrace and watch the horses exercising. I will definitely stay again.
