Unique Rustic Gem

Escaping the masses and the hustle and bustle of Cinque Terre, this mountain haven was a rare experience. Nestled high on the side of a mountain, with outstanding views to the valley, this community of 1400’s buildings has old world charm and much appreciated serenity and natural beauty. Our one bedroom apartment had all the modern conveniences (refrigerator, stove, Internet, washroom and small t.v.) Although there was no a/c., the apartment stayed cool with a single fan assisted by the foot thick stone walls. Francesca, the hostess, was more than generous with her time, assisting us in our planning of the Cinque Terre. A bottle of local wine as well as some pastries and other small treats, greeted us upon our arrival. The Locanda, a restaurant in the next cluster of buildings served daily fresh homemade dinners that have been the best during our trip through Italy. This place offers a somewhat rustic, yet unique experience we were lucky enough to have been able to enjoy so thoroughly.

What a wonderful time away from it all. So remote and unique. Don't expect the usual stay. It is rustic and remote. Perfect for a bit away from the hustle and bussel of the costal tourist filled areas. Our host was wonderful and warm. Getting to train and the town was easy.

Exceptional - A little piece of paradise

I cannot recommend this place enough - we really did not want to leave. Our hosts Francesca & her family are lovely, very helpful and informative. Caste is a beautiful & very peaceful. Perfect for walking & you can take a trail walk to Cinque Terre. A bottle of local wine along with cakes, tea, cofffee & milk is there for your arrival. We really hope to return some day.
WiFi signal is also good. There is a small restaurant in Caste which is recommended, it has a small set menu (3 courses 15euro - excluding wine & dessert (June 2019))

Peaceful escape!

Really beautiful views from the terrace at this rural idyll away from the crazy crowds of Cinqueterre. The lady who runs it (I'm afraid I've forgotten her name) was charming and very helpful. Lovely trails nearby, including a 2 hour one all the way to Riomaggore... which unfortunately we couldn't attempt as we have small kids but I was itching to try! Very nice, simple local restaurant a stones throw away with a nice terrace for 8pm dinner sitting - they were happy to prepare a veggie meal for us and it was delicious both times we went. Oh, and a very friendly and talkative cat that the kids loved...The appartment itself was basic but nice, with a sweet little kitchen with everything we needed to make a full meal for ourselves one evening.

Awesome Place near Cinque Terre

This place is awesome! The place is beautiful...old European feel..Fresh air,beautiful view..the rooms can be small but nice.The kitchenette ha sthe basic utensils,with toaster,small stove and fridge...The place is not close to train station, need a car to get to the place..Train station is 5-10 mins away where u can purchase an all day train pass for 15 Euros to get to all the 5 cities...The owners are very nice,had welcome gift of their house wine and a reusable bag for shopping...Will definitely come back to this place when have a chance again...

Extraordinary location

This was the most amazing stay of our vacation. The location is like a place out of a fairytale! Our host Francesca was fantastic, even rescuing us when our car was towed away. She gave great information to guide our stay and plan a trip to Cinques Terre. I can't say enough about Corte Paganini. A must stay!

Great old building in the mountain

It's a lovely place on the mountain. Our room was neat and clean. Kitchen was good too. The manager was very kind and helpful. She provided us with pick-ups from the train station and gave us very helpful information about where to go with lots of maps and pictures. You can feel her passion and genuine love for the place. Perfect!

This rustic converted barn was the perfect choice for our holiday. Our host Francesca was lovely! A bottle of local wine was waiting for us when we arrived. The views were spectacular and we loved our little balcony and the courtyard where we enjoyed a glass of wine each evening. The wifi only works in the courtyard, but who cares whe you are on holiday! Put your electronics away and enjoy life!!!

Not a hotel. This is an renovated apartment.

This apartment high in the mountains in Caste,Italy was unique. Pros: scenery, character, solitude, and the host, Francesca ..... Cons: wifi ( had to sit by an open window to get decent reception ) , parking (limited), proximity to anything ( can also be a plus), We found the indoor lighting to be very dim. The radiator heat had been turned off and sometimes the apt. felt damp and cold; a few minutes of heat could have improved the comfort level greatly. We enjoyed our stay so much that we could overlook any of these shortcomings.

Charming position and view

Though the road and parking were both intimidating, this rustic and charming position was not too far from la spezia. The villas are very basic and a bit cold in October with heating central and weak, and turned on at request. We were wlcomed warmly and Carlo and Francesca were very helpful. They introduced us to the nearby estuarine which is in e middl of nowhere but has splendid dishes.

We found the bed hard and the pillows too lean. Lighting inside is a bit dim. There is TV noise from nearby at night until quite late.
The view from the courtyard is lovely though. Probably a 2.5-3 star accomodation.

A slice of history

Not a five star hotel ,but a genuine piece of Italian history that cannot be found elsewhere ,fantastic hosts that are so helpful in every respect ,in fact we never left the village in the evenings ,even our 20 year old daughter found it fascinating ,right down to the village church ,this place is also on the walks of cinque Terre and we walked to the five fishing villages ,awsome walk with a short train ride and a taxi back.we will return

Nice...but buyer beware!

This was a really cool place, though not too easy to get to unless you have a car! You should be aware that there is no air conditioning and no fans, so if you're staying in this hotel in the heat of the summer (we were there in late July 2015)- you will be uncomfortable. Also, they have small concerts in the courtyard on some nights, so if you want peace and quiet after traveling, check the web site before booking to be sure this isn't happening on your nights. We went through a 2 hour sound check, a hour plus reading from a novel in Italian, which we didn't understand, and then another hour of the songs that we listened do during the aforementioned soundcheck - during this time, we had to be quiet - no TV or music or anything or we would've interrupted this \"show.\" They finished up at nearly midnight, and it wasn't a great night's sleep to have to leave the next morning. Francesca is very ni9ce, but she doesn't speak English very well, so it was hard to communicate. You also have to hang out the window to get internet - especially if there's a concert in the common area that you can't interrupt!! Great view though - just VERY HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With car, a perfect location for Cinque Terre

This is a perfect stay if you have a car. About 15 minutes up in the mountains from La Spezia. Wonderful view, calm and relaxing. Even though this is a very small village they have a restaurant worth a visit. I would say that this is a really good location if you want to hike or visit the cities of Cinque Terre. There is trains from La Spezia all the time. Thats the cheap option (think it was like 8 euros for a day pass) and then there are the boats wich is a little more expensive (28€ for a day pass). Dont worry about parking in La Spezia. There is a free touristparking with walking distans to the harbor or the trainstation. There are also free busses from this parking to city center every 20 minutes or so. If you want to hike to the nearest city of Cinque Terre from the house its about 1h 40 min.

Spirit of tradition in best way

This place is gorgeous!!! The house in which the apartments are was restored to fully reflect the spirit of time when it was built. And still, the accommodation is fully equipped. The owners are very good hosts and you will get all the information you need. Since the accommodation is located in small village near La Spezia, you'll need a car to get to La Spezia. During our stay the owners offer the ride to La Spezia and back for the travelers who didn`t come by car. All compliment for this accommodation!

Rural getaway

Breathtaking views, hospitable hosts, and authentic stay. Corte Paganini is a must stay if you are traveling by car. I was not. Cab fare from the nearest train station is 40€ and the closest market to Corte Paganini is a 3km stroll. However, Francesca, our host, was so kind and caring! She drove my friends and I to the market and upon departure all the way to the train station. She made us feel more than welcome. She made us feel at home, as did the rest of the residents in Caste!

On a side note: if you're with musicians the locals will love ya, Cheers!

Place like a fairytale with a 10+ host

The place was like from a fairytail. Really beautiful and the host Francesca was superb. She knew all the best restaurants and places to go. The apartments is nicely renovated and really really clean. Francesca has her own parking which has loads of space also. We highly recommend staying with Francesca while staying in La Spezia area.

Séjour d'un week pour aller visiter les Cinque Terre.
Nous avons très bien été accueil par la très sympathique Francesca qui nous a apporté de précieux conseils pour visiter les Cinque Terre.
L'appartement est situé à 15 minutes en voiture de la gare de La Spezia.
Situé dans la campagne, le site est calme et relaxant. Un havre de paix.

This hotel is real Italian old house so we have special time to experience atmosphere of the real European old life . We really enjoy staying this hotel.
The hotel is located in less than 20 minutes far from main area, but we took more than 30 minutes to visit at first time. Because the route to the hotel is not so easy for me even though we use google map.

Super freundlich von Francesca und Ihrem Mann empfangen, obwohl wir spätabends angereist sind. Sie haben uns alles, was wir über Cinque Terre wissen wollten, bis ins Detail erklärt und waren bei Fragen sehr hilfreich! Das Haus hat einen ganz herzigen Innenhof und eine wunderbare Aussicht in den Wald. Die Unterkunft an sich war klein aber sehr fein! Es hatte eine kleine Küche und man konnte drinnen oder sogar im Innenhof essen. Wir haben es sehr genossen und kommen gerne wieder :-) Grazie mille!

N’hésitez pas une seconde, ici tout est fait pour vous détendre. Les propriétaires ont pleins de bonnes intentions. Il n'y a plus qu'a déposer vos bagages. La cuisine dispose de tout le nécessaire, ainsi que Sel/poivre/ Café/Lait/ Huile/ Liquide vaisselle/ ...
D'ici vous avez accès à de très belles balades à pieds qui peuvent vous amener jusqu'au Cinque Terre. Je recommande vivement.

Appartement et vue à couper le souffle

Des hôtes vraiment accueillants qui prennent le temps de nous donner beaucoup d’informations et aussi, ils ont été à notre disposition pour le transport à l’arrivée, de la gare centrale à l’appartement, le lendemain pour retourner à la gare parce que nous devions prendre le train pour les Cinque Terre et finalement, le matin du départ, ils sont venus nous chercher pour nous conduire une fois de plus à la gare. L’ appartement est parfait, très propre et la cuisinette bien équipée. La vue est époustouflante!

Francesca est une hôte très chaleureux et très serviable elle ne parle pas le français mais on est arrivée à se comprendre elle a pris le temps de tout nous expliquer de nous guider nous a donné les bons tuyaux on ne s'est pas perdu une seule fois et sur tout les points elle avait raison et franchement je la remercie fortement car avec 2 bébé de 2ans c'est pas facile et puis avec les petites elle a été d'une gentillesse exemplaire, l'appartement parfait un vrai havre de paix très propre très pratique pour les enfants total liberté parfait ! On était prêt de tout et bien retirer pour se reposer ! Je recommande à 100% pour ceux qu'il veulent aller visiter les Cinque Terre. C'est l'endroit parfait ❤️

Perfekter Ort für die kleine Auszeit

Tolle Atmosphäre innerhalb der alten Gemäuer von Casté mit einem phantastischen Ausblick über die ligurischen Berge. Besonders die Freundlichkeit der Gastgeberin hat uns beeindruckt. Die Ferienwohnung bot alles, was wir für den Aufenthalt benötigten. Abgelegen, aber dennoch ein perfekter Ausgangspunkt für Erkundungen der Umgebung. Zu Fuß waren wir in 1,5 Stunden in Riomaggiore. Mit dem Auto 10 Minuten bis La Spezia.

Rekommenderar det här stället med det varmaste.

Hôtesse très attentionnée qui dès votre arrivée vous donne de précieux conseils pour organiser votre séjour au mieux, donne même de son temps pour venir nous récupérer à la gare suite à une randonnée. Le logement bien que confortable est un peu vétuste et la décoration datée, l'endroit situé dans les montagnes est très dépaysant

Sehr schöne Unterkunft im Bergdorf

Der Empfang war super freundlich und hilfsbereit! Es war eine Freude, schon bei Ankunft die schönen saueberen Zimmer zusehen. Hier gibt es eine Unterkunft im Rahmen eines umgebauten alten Bergdorf-Hauses mit einem eigenen Innenhof, wunderschöner Aussicht auf das Meer von La Spezia. Eigentümer pflegen alles mit viel Detail. Wir konnten sehen, dass unere Absicht im 5-Terre zu wandern, von hier aus ideal werden kann. Vor Ankunft sollte man sich unbedingt nach der Wegrichtung erkunden, sonst nicht leicht zu finden, da sehr abgelegen. Auch eine Verbindung nach La Spezia mit dem Auto war problemlos und schnell möglich, auch mit Bus sehr gut möglich (vom Tal aus). Vom Haus aus nutzten wir Wanderwege durch Kastanien-Wälder und Weinberge bis ans Meer. Einmalig schöne Aussichten dabei genossen!

The Corte Paganini is located very remotely in a quiet, pittoressque Location. You would Need a car to there and move around, but after a rather adventurous drive up the mountain, you are rewarded with a stunning view as well as a Building complex that is I believe 600 years old but renovated to modern Standards.
If you do not like these Standard Big Chain Hotels, but rather something from a fairytale - this is your place.
Only downside is, that WIFI is not great there, but again that might be an Advantage.
Francesca from the Appartements is very friendly and helpful. You could walk to Riomaggiore ( one of the 5 Cinque Tere villages) in about 2.5 hours.
Don't miss to go to Porte Venere, just south of La Spezia!

Lieu isolé plein de charme. Appartement très propre, très confortable.
Malheureusement nous n'avons pas eu la chance de le voir sous le soleil er de profiter de l'extérieur...

Hotellet/lägenheterna har fantastisk utsikt och ligger bra till om man vill besöka Cinque Terra. Bil är ett måste då det ligger c:a 15 minuter från La Spezia och på en slingrig väg en bit upp på höjderna. Känns inte som man bara sticker iväg och handlar lite godis på kvällen. Se till att ni har frukost med er för det finns ingen restaurang eller frukost att äta eller köpa. Däremot finns ett riktigt fint köpcenter 7-8 kilometer i Norra delen av La Spezia. Kör ut på stora vägen till höger och passera en jättelång och sedan en kort tunnel och man ser centret ner till höger. Man skall alltså ta av efter andra tunneln. Det är dyrt att parkera i La Spezia men det finns en fri parkering som ägarinnan Francesca visar på kartan var den finns. Där ifrån tar det c:a 10 minuter att gå till Centralen där man tar tåget till de 5 byarna. Kan vara lite svårt att hitta till Caste då det är dåligt skyltat men en GPS löser problemet om du stavar Caste` rätt med accenten åt \"fel\" håll. Kan vara svårt att köra ända fram men det finns parkering längre ner efter vägen. Ingången till boendet är längst upp i ett huskomplex av flera gamla byggnader. Det fanns internet men funkade inte inomhus. Bryggare saknades men man kunde brygga kaffe på franskt vis i små kannor. Väldigt tyst och lugnt. Bra val om man inte vill bo bland sorlet av turister i byarna. Man har dessutom möjligheten att ta sig till andra orter efter kusten och det finns fina serpentinvägar av mkt bra standard om man väljer bort motorväg.

Havre de paix.

Nous sommes resté 3 nuits à Corte Paganini et avons adoré l'endroit. La propriétaire Francesca est vraiment sympathique et nous a conseillé un très bon resto à 3 km de la place. On se rend à La Spezia en 20 minutes et le trajet est magnifique, on y laisse la voiture et on prend le bateau ou le train pour aller a Cinque Terre . L'appartement est charmant et très bien équipé et la vue sur les montagnes environnantes est époustouflante. 0n en garde un souvenir inoubliable.

Absolut genial ruhige Lage in winzigem Bergdorf

Wir waren nur drei Nächte dort, aber es ist einzigartig. Kleines kuscheliges Appartment, renoviert aber nahe am urtümlichen Zustand. Alles sehr liebevoll hergerichtet, gute Betreuung von der Vermieterin. Sehr schöne Terasse/Innenhof mit tollem Ausblick und zum gemütlichen Abhängen mit anderen Gästen und den Ansässigen.

Magnifique accueil, magnifique lieu. Romantique.

Situé à 10min en voiture de La Spezia, vous y serez accueillis avec beaucoup de chaleur. Le lieu est simplement magnifique et très romantique. Les appartements sont très confortables. Tout est fait par la maîtresse des lieux pour que votre séjour soit parfait. Le GPS permet de trouver cet hôtel facilement. Pour visiter les cinq Terres, la situation est idéale. Vous y retrouverez en plus le soir, le calme que vous ne trouverez pas dans votre visite des villages perchés qui sont envahis de gens (comme nous!!!). Les propriétaire organisent de petit concert et des repas (traditionnels) vraiment pas chers.
En un mot: fabuleux.

Accueil très chaleureux d'Irène avec conseils touristiques très appréciés.
Village restauré très calme perché dans les collines et très proche des Cinque Terre. Lieu idéal pour départ de randonnées (pour bon marcheur) vous pouvez rejoindre les sentiers des Cinque Terre.

Une belle location, dans un hameau à découvrir

Nous avons été accueillis par Francesca et Carlo (qui parle un très bon français) très chaleureusement et ils nous ont donné beaucoup d'informations très utiles pour visiter au mieux les 5 terre. Nous avions également à notre arrivée un présent, en l’occurrence une bouteille de vin à notre nom, et nous avons apprécié ce geste. La location très propre,est parfaite pour qui aime se reposer après les longues journées de visites aux 5 terre. Nous avons beaucoup aimé le hameau et ses habitants et les gens qui le font vivre ou revivre en proposant des animations, Bravo ! Au calme mais pas très éloigné de la ville (La Spézia est à 15mn en voiture,pour prendre le train ou le bateau), Parfait. Merci à Francesca et Carlo

Hjerteligt og smukt

Fantastisk og smukt sted med stor hjertelighed. Drevet af mennesker der selv elskede stedet og ønskede dette viderebragt til dets gæster. En smule isoleret, men godt udgangspunkt for oplevelser i Cinque Terre og La Spezia. Kan og bør på alle måder anbefales.

Lägenhetshotell med hjärta, utsikt och charm

Detta är ett fantadtiskt lägenhetshotell med en ännu mer fantastisk ägarinna Fransesca. Hon delade med sig av alla tips kring Cinque Terre som vi kunde behöva. Vi köpte med oss mat från Coop i La Spezia och åt nästan alla middagar på terassen med underbar utsikt. Du behöver bil för att bo här. Notera dock att du inte kan köra till alla små städer utmed Cinque Terre, det är mycket enklare att köra till La Spezia och parkera gratis (Fransesca visar var) och sen ta tåget dit du vill. Om vi kommer tillbaka till hotellet kommer vi definitivt tillbaka hit!
