The staff were so friendly and accommodating here. The breakfast was wonderful, with the warm mini pastries, fruit salad, and scrambled eggs made to order. The view was breathtaking and the distance to catch the bus was very convenient. There is also a mini market not far that sells the bus tickets for €1,50, along with any snacks, cold drinks, or fresh fruit. I enjoyed my stay here very much.

Wonderful Hotel just out of Manarola

This place has a fantastic view from the courtyard that overlooks to sea. The walk to Manarola is a little challenging but to stay in Volastra is a great plan. This small town has a couple of restaurants that are great. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful.

If you pay extra for the sea-facing suites, the view is STUNNING. Everyone was friendly and very helpful, getting us set up to enjoy our time in 5T. The hotel is in Volastra, so you take a bus/shuttle approx 10 mins down to Manarola (or you can walk down for 30mins hike) where you can catch the train as needed. We were able to park our car and skip having to take our luggage on the train/up stairs to hotels right in 5T.

Rated 4 instead of 5 because of the noise transfer in the hotel - you can hear just about everything your neighbours are doing, including what they’re up to in the washroom …

Quiet and Great Views

Great location between Corniglia and Manarola. Hotel perched up 1,000 ft above sea level and you can see down coast to Monterosso. Removed from noise of towns: quiet stay, amazing breakfast, friendly and accommodating staff and free shuttle to town hourly. Careful on walk to Corniglia: it’s an Indiana Jones trail-steep, rocky, and scary. On site small cafe with food and drinks! 👍👍. Neptune statue from Monterosso. Trail pics hotel to Corniglia. All landscape pics from trail-took us 1:45 mid to walk it

This hotel was conveniently located near the bus stop which took us to where we could catch the train to visit the areas of Cinque Terre. Staff at the hotel were very nice and made every effort of make our stay comfortable. Breakfast was very good too.

Positives - Great breakfast, accommodating service and hotel bar prices reasonable. The view is breathtaking. The location of Vallarta is good although there are only 2 restaurants so you have to go into town... there is a bus into Manarola every half hour or so and the stop is 100 yds from the hotel, it only takes five minutes; the hotel is on the main hiking route between manarola and corniglia so you have options; there is some on street parking around the bus stop if you’re lucky. The train running between the five towns is very good and frequent @ 10 Euros per trip. The towns and the scenery are incredible.. photos don’t do it justice.
Things to consider..The hotel is not in riomaggiore which isn’t a problem but be aware if you’re driving to set the right destination; the hikes are VERY STRENUOUS…climbs into or out of each village are extreme so do some research.. but you can walk out and train/bus back. The hotel room had great views but no balcony, no fridge and only 2 sockets.. also the aircon probably needs modernisation; don’t let that put you off though it’s still ok, the town hotels seemed congested, if you don’t mind using the bus this hotel is well situated. I’d use trains from the airport and not a car next time straight to the town but check distance from the station to accommodation and how you’re going to do it as taxis are expensive/hard to find and it can be quite a hike uphill to your destination. I’ve attached this years bus and train timetables.

The view and the breeze at the top are incredible. The rooms are okay, but clean.

This hotel is not in Riomaggiore as they say but in Volastra, a tiny town above Manarola. It is hard to get there. You either hike up and down or take a bus down. Then you have to keep track of the.schedule. Pack light because either way you are carrying your bags up and down the stairs at the station or to and from the bus. It would be greatnif someone offered to help with bags.

The breakfast and cappachino were delicious. The woman helping with breakfast and the cleaning lady were very pleasant and friendly. The 2 men were much less friendly.

Next time I go to Cinque Terre i will stay at a place close to the train station.

Eugèneio and Francesca were wonderful! Very kind, caring, professional, helpful and fun to have as our hosts. They helped us with touring plans, our luggage, parking and just anything we needed. They served a fantastic delicious breakfast and their dinner restaurant was THE BEST!,
Location is beautiful ( despite rain) overlooking the sea, quiet and above the busy town of Manarola.
Definitely recommend staying here!

The views are truly breathtaking and the hotel and area very quiet. Breakfast was perfect with the overall service by the hotel staff fantastic. We decided to walk down to Manarola via the pathway right next to hotel, please note that the scenic route is not for the faint hearted so if you are afraid of edges or heights then take another way down, I loved it as the views were unreal but the wife not so much. We ate down in Manarola but the local restaurant next to the hotel looked good. Room was basic but comfortable and would definitely stay again.

It's quaint location in Volastra, high above Manarola, was both serene, and picturesque. Views from the grounds and our room were breathtaking. The 7 minute shuttle ride to and from Manarola was cheap, and efficient. The breakfast was perfect, with a delightful array of high quality fruits, pastries, eggs, breads, juices, and coffee's. The decor was lovely, including the design of their dishes, and cups. The staff was friendly, and helpful at all times. We loved our stay, and considering its relatively moderate price, I would recommend it to everyone going too Cinque Terre, for it's beauty and tranquility. However, if you are young hipsters, looking for 24 hour entertainment, and nightlife, you may want to stay down in one of the livelier villages, below.

Stunning view of the sea and Manarola from our room and also from the terrace! The village of Volastra is very quiet. By bus Manarola is around 10 minutes traveltime. There’s also a walking trail, which takes around 1 hour down (1,5 hours up). All in all very much enjoyed our stay!

Beautiful, scenic and tucked away

Luna di Marzo is incredible. The staff (owner I believe) is wonderfully helpful and accommodating. The scenery is once in a lifetime. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, but not glamorous or luxurious. For the remote location, the WiFi was great. The location is in a town called Volastra, which is about a ten minute bus ride north of Manarola, one of the five CT towns, regular population of 200 people. There is one restaurant in Volastra, which is delicious but a little pricey (and it can be because it’s the only one). Everyone in the town Is welcoming. Luna’s breakfast is lovely and the back terrace is the showstopper. Would stay here again and again, even though it’s a bit off the beaten path. If you want to be snug in the Italian countryside but still have a nice cup of coffee in the morning, this is your place.

Gorgeous view and wonderful stay.

This stay was the highlight of our trip to Italy. A basic hotel, or more like a Bed & Breakfast as it only has ~12 rooms. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The location is up above the coast and is ~300 meters above the ocean. So, the view is absolutely spectacular. If you enjoy hiking the trails, the main trail between towns is right outside the door. And you can hike down the cliff instead of those staying on the coast who need to hike up before going across to other towns. One of the best restaurants in the area is right outside the door. You will need to take the bus up from Manarola which is a pain, but well worth it. I will come back here next time I and in Italy

We were blessed to have an amazing spot at Luna di Marxo. Our room looked our over the Ligurian Sea and it was spectacular. The restaurant we dined in was great and everyone was lovely. Rooms are simple with few amenities but they’re clean and nice. The hotel breakfast was superb and the views were priceless.

We spent three night at Luna di Marzo and it was fantastic.
The view is spectacular and the little village is charming
The room was very clean and spacious.
We had view on the Mediteranée.
Two rooms with balcony with a great view, next time we will ask for one of them. Breakfast is very good and offer a variety of food. There is a very charming little restaurant very near the hôtel, ask for it, you will have a great night. For people who like to walk, the Luna di Marzo is a very good location.

Amazing Cinque Terre

This hotel is situated in Volastra, it was a little difficult to find but the GPS took us by the main road. It would have been nice if the owner placed a sign with the hotel Name. It appears that it must have been a large home and they turned it into a 10 room hotel. But I would considered this more like a B & B. The owners are very nice, it is run by husband and wife. Check in was fine, she showed us to our room. Showed us how to open her brand new windows but they had no screens therefore the moschitoes ate me up. We had to close the windows and turn on the AC which was not working. It needs freeon for sure. No small fridge, we couldn even put a bottle of water to cool. The bathroom is new but in the shower there was no shelf to place the soap, shampoo, or sponge. We had to put it on the floor. Breakfast was fine but we wanted a glass of water and she got it for us. In most hotels water is on the table on ice. It was served no earlier than 8 and the office closed early. Very limited TV channels, at night we could not even watch the World Cup games. They lack a little experience. The bus is by the road, she gave us the schedule but omitted to tell us that if you buy the booklet it’s cheaper than buying a ticket at a time. Of course everyone falls in love with the view. There many more amenities that they lack. Hopefully with time they will improve.

Nice hotel with a beautiful view of the sea.

Like others have said, this hotel is in a village up the hill and you won’t want to carry your luggage to the hotel from the train station. By a 5 Terre card at the station and take the bus to Volastra. If your luggage exceeds a certain size, it basically needs to fit on your lap, the bus driver will Call for the baggage transporter bus. It’s all good, don’t worry.
The hotel is clean and quiet, with the best water pressure we’ve had in Italy. The terrace is terrific and the breakfast is wonderful.
I loved staying in a quiet village away from the crowded lower towns.

Loved our stay in Volastra. You can see three of the towns of Cinque Terre from the balcony. The bartender was great and super helpful. The restaurant in town is superb. If you ask the hotel people nicely, they'll make dinner reservations for you. Breakfast was excellent, the best so far, with eggs and bacon offered.

This hotel is a great location for trekking, has wonderful breakfast and very nice staff.

The hotel is located in Volastra several miles from the train station and requires either a bus or taxi to get up the mountain. If have heavy bags i would recommend calling the hotel and they will send a taxi.

The view are fantastic. The hotel room was the plainest I have ever seen. No decor. I know most people like myself don't spend a lot of time in the room but it was barebones. Only two pillows so you couldn't set up to read or watch the cereal box sized TV. Breakfast is served this time of year at 8. But the first shuttle service runs at 7:50 and the next is around 9:24 or so. We wanted to explore so we never had the breakfast or even a cup of coffee. The other reviews were correct...the walls are paper thin. On one side they took showers after 12 midnight and the other side they took showers at 5 am. We could hear them run their sinks and toilets. I have never given a hotel such a bad review. It was the worst hotel on my vacation in Italy. The blanket was very old. They want you to buy their wine which was fine. But if they are closed they still do not want you to enjoy the evening with your own wine. Thanks goodness for the shuttle service.

We anticipated a pleasant mediocre stay at a small country village. What we found was a newly renovated accommodations with an extraordinary view, wonderful food and accommodating staff. We can't wait to tell friends and family about this hidden gem. We just needed more time to lounge around the veranda soaking in the views.

Beautiful views. Cannot say enough how nice the patio is at this place. Our biggest problem was that the air conditioner only runs from 5pm-7:30am, and it is pretty ineffective at cooling. Temps were 90º+ (32º C) every day, so coming back to a warm room was the last thing we wanted. Also, this is the only town in Cinque Terre that does not have a train stop, so getting from town to town was a little more difficult. Also, there are only 2 restaurant choices. The breakfast at the hotel was fantastic, and the owners were extremely nice and helpful. Overall, I'd stay here again if it were not in the middle of summer.

The owner is cray and rude - Not worth the money!

The owner almost got into a fist fight with another customer staying at the hotel! My mom was sitting in the lobby when a customer came in to ask a question about their reservation and the owner instantly got defensive and started to yell at the hotel guest. It got so ugly that my mom ended up leaving the lobby and later we found out that it turned physical. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone! We ended up leaving the hotel a day early even though we couldn't get a refund on our last night. The owner stays at the hotel so the lobby and the gorgeous view that you see in the picture shut down at 8:30pm. That means you can't even enjoy the stars or the hotel at night time. The views are nice at the hotel, but you get the same views if you plan on doing any hiking.

We had a great stay at Luna di Marzo! The staff were very friendly and the town of Volastra is tiny, but cute and away from the crowds. Our only complaint was it was really hot while we were there and the AC only works from 5:30 PM to about 8:00 AM (and it is not the strongest machine). Other than that it was lovely. There is a shuttle that runs about every half hour to hour to and from Manarola while was also very convenient.

Great view spot about 2000 ft above the ocean!

Great location to look down on the nearby colorful towns of Cinque Terre. Difficult to find once you're in the area, fortunately a friendly local showed us where to park and how to get to the house itself.

You'll need more information than just a map to find restaurants and know where to park in the town below- plan ahead and ask lots of questions from the hotel staff.

Off the beaten track in Cinque Terre

This beautiful little hotel is a short/inexpensive bus drive to Manarola; where you can find a lot more shops,restaurants and a train station. They have limited reserved parking, a small grocery store and a restaurant; all a short walk from the hotel. The rooms, our hosts and free morning breakfast were all great. The walking (hiking : as we were warned) trail, is close by as well. Do not expect to go much anywhere in Cinque Terre by car; parking is nearly non-existent. Public transport is good; however ends early in the evening. We did not get to use taxi service, so no idea on the cost. The weather was not great when we were there; so we did not sit out on the patio overlooking the sea; the view was amazing none-the-less ! Definitely recommend the Luna di Marzo.

Two reasons to stay here...

We liked Luna di Marzo, and staying up on the cliffs in Volastra (rather than in one of the five actual Cinque Terre villages) because of the sweeping views along the coast and to avoid the hustle and bustle of the villages. But, Volastra is very small, and there are only one or two choices for dining. If you don't have a car and must catch the bus back from Manarola, you have to do so by 1950 hours. The rooms were spacious, but there are no sound-absorbing surfaces (like a rug) and you will definitely hear people using adjoining bathrooms. Overall, we're happy we stayed here.

Bad vibes and far from town

Probably the most unhelpful and unfriendly staff we encountered in our month-long travel through Croatia and Italy. Although the address says Riomagiorre it was a thirty minute cab ride out of Riomagiorre and actually closer to Manarola . We made some small requests to the desk (ibprophen, a place to charge our phone) and it was clear they would not help us.
Our room was absolutely bare-bones. There was a bed and that was the only place to sit. We went out on the deck to drink our wine but found out that you could only sit there if you bought their wine. In the morning the owner yelled at me for attempting to move the end of the table out of the sun. I apologized for my mistake...but his glare followed us until we closed our door to this hotel of bad vibes!

Good for Location but not for in room facilities!

Hotel was great for the location and the lovely views from the terrace and the room window (you would have to stand at the window to see the view) but considering the room cost it was disappointing that there was no in room facility to make tea or coffee only alternative is to purchase from the hotel bar. You couldn't control the room temperature as both heating and air con was controlled centrally which is annoying but manageable by opening windows or wearing extra layers.

Perfect view hotel, wonderful staff

The staff at Luna di Marzo was fantastic. It's a family run business, and they definitely go out of their way to make your stay memorable. And the view is unreal; so beautiful. This is a definite stay if you are in Volastra.

jaw dropping views and serenity

This was a very pleasant surprise. We were thoroughly appreciative of the hotel; staff and local villagers. The beauty of this location is worth the long trip from the US alone.

Finding it was a bit hard for us and probably because we didn't research enough. Getting off at Manorola is a must. There, you can reach Volastra where the hotel is by shuttle easily. We got off at the wrong train stop.

3 nights in Riomaggiore

Wonderful little hotel on the top of the foothill. Very clean and views to die for. Delicious breajfast, and a great place on the terrace to enjoy wine and watch the sunset.

Beautiful. Nice to get out of main part of town.

Beautiful hotel. Great breakfast. It is a bout a 10 minute ride from Manarosa to this hotel. However the shuttle runs frequently and it is nice to get out of the crowded town at night. However, be careful because the shuttle stops at 9:00 PM. The hotel Is beautiful, however it is very very quiet at night and there is absolutely no nightlife whatsoever. There is a great restaurant right behind the hotel that I highly recommend at night.

Limited services.

Lack of flexibility by staff etc. Pillows were flat. We asked for additional pillows and received two more flat pillows. Manager ( ? ) told us not to roll the single chair but to lift and move it. I have a very easy solution for him. Invest in some felt to put on chair legs. We arrived a little early early and the guy at reception would not provide us any information or check us in or give us internet code until two p. m., which was only 10 minutes later. Also, there was no one else checking in at the time.

Great hotel with an amazing view

We greatly enjoyed our stay at Luna do Marzo these past few days. While we did not initially realize the hotel was up in Volastra, this was not a problem as there are frequent shuttle buses to and from Manarola, and Volastra is much quieter than the other more touristy Cinque Terre towns. Our room was nice and clean, with a beautiful view of the ocean. The free breakfast each morning was also amazing, and it was served out on the deck with a beautiful view of the ocean and surrounding towns as well. The hotel owners were very friendly and accommodating. Overall, this was a great place to stay and I definitely recommend it!

Beautiful views, removed location

Gorgeous landscape. Wonderful breakfast served on balcony facing oceanside. Quaint hotel exterior but rooms are starkly furnished, You won't stay in room anyway. Shower head broken but I repaired with hair band. It is not 1/2 mile from Manarola. Take CTA shuttle about 5 miles up mountain. Walk down hill from church, ask for directions. Hard to locate just arrive before dusk & follow guests. Truly wonderful trail from hotel toward Corniglia for active guests, gets narrow and rocky, but worth it!
