Breakfast and dinner are superb, every dish on the menu was amazing. Stunning views from the villa and main pool.
Service is outstanding, staff is very attentive and address guests by their names.
As others noted the rooms look a bit old and requires renovation. For example, the aircon in the villa is very loud.
We stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed every moment.

We had the most amazing time at Hanging Gardens of Bali. It's a stunning location with friendly staff, incredible food, and beautiful views. We were welcomed with marigold garlands and drinks, and the service was exceptional. We also tried the spa services, and the massage and bath were both relaxing and unique.

This is a must-visit place to stay in Ubud, and I highly recommend it!

Our stay was absolutely incredible. My wife and I were staying in Bali for our honeymoon and upon arrival we were upgraded to a suite with an amazing view and private pool. The staff were so friendly and helpful and the food at the hotel was 5 stars. While this hotel is a bit more expensive than others in Ubud, it is far superior and worth every penny. I would highly recommend to anyone staying in the Ubud area that would like a quiet setting away from the hustle of the city with exquisite jungle views. We could not get enough of walking the grounds of the hotel as there are flowers and fruit trees everywhere.

Poor lobby staff service and noisy bedroom

We stayed at Villa 11 for two nights and motorcycle noises were loud at night and early morning. Our rooms weren’t turned down the second night when we return from dinner in the city. We had to search for light switches in pitch black and found our bathroom messy with the sliding door to the spa room wide open. Departure was even worse, not only was there no staff to help us load our luggages onto the car nor did the two receptionists who were busy looking at their tablets and computer screen say goodbye. The hotel basically didn’t care where we go after staying with them. This is definitely not acceptable to any hospitality business.

we arrived late night @2:00 AM; the resort is very pelasant in the middle of the jungle and has very nice view. we have booked the panaromic villa and paid around 600$/night the time i entered the toilet a RAT jumped on my leg and started hiding in the room, my wife do have a phobia from rats and couldnt sleep all night. the hotel managment offered us a spa for 1 person as a compensation and didnt change our villa or extended our stay for the night that we didnt actually sleep. second day we found a FROG on our bed, the resort team came and caought it.. Since we are a honeymooners they have added flowers in our bath and that was highly appreciated. but the moment my wife get into the bath to take some pictures we found more than 6 WORMS in the water. Briefly our stay at this resort was very disapponting and the money paid doesnt worth it.

This is a very unique boutique property and has a charm if your happy to go outside your normal 5 star comfort zone.

The panoramic rooms have amazing jungle views and seeing clouds form in front of your eyes whilst in bed will remain with me for a lifetime. The jungle cable lift is unique Instagram kind of experience.

The rooms are authentic ubud/Indonesian style. If you are looking for a modern hotel, this place isn’t for you but I found its charm a welcome change. Imperfectly perfect room kind of vibe which is nice. Remember you are in the jungle, so you will share your stay with monkey’s, mosquitoes and insects but we had no real problems with them.

The service is very good and accommodating. The staff are clearly well trained and probably some of the best I have seen in Bali.

The spa was worth the expense. Couples massage was a warm experience.

Now for the bad, the dinner menu is a bit limiting if you stay here more than 2 or 3 nights and dine in but I think this really is a 2 or 3 night hotel with my recommendation of 2. Also has no gym onsite but has a free shuttle bus to an external gym which felt like too much hassle. Also, the hotel is 30 mins north of ubud which is a compromise for the unique nature of this property.

Outdated front desk staff requires retraining. Villa £600 and they still charge for bottled mineral water. Based only on this factor shall be downgraded to 3 stars. Overcharging for taxi which is $20 if you get it yourself. Mosquitos everywhere, message for management: read about lemon&eucalyptus oil candles or sticks. However views are spectacular.

Amazing honeymoon stay

Amazing stay for our honeymoon. We got the panoramic view suite which was incredible. In the morning there were even monkeys jumping around outside...so be careful leaving things outside. The service was impeccable, infinity pool lived up to its hype. The overall property is worth the 7 star rating. Breakfast was great with made to order menu items and also buffet items. It's a 20-30 min hike across to other side of the mountain for the temple to see the view of Hanging Gardens. The property is a bit out of the way in the mountains so plan for 30-40 min ride to downtown Ubud if you need. Pro-tip: get the whatsapp # for the hotel, you can ping them that way to arrange off hours transport back if you need.

Arrived after a 27 hour flight was supposed to check in at 1pm but Arrived the next day around 1am in the morning hotel never bothered to even send an email to check when I’d be arriving and it’s marketed as a 5 star property and when I checked there was no 24 hour room service available in the room. Myself and husband we were starving anyway we went to the room and the place was full of mosquitoes and there were geckos running behind the tv inside the room and with many other type of insects. We couldn’t sleep even at 3 am the room wasn’t even properly prepared for checkin there was a bad stench in the room from unclean linen and it made everything worst when we wanted to use the toilet there was a bigger than palm size spider in the toilet room which had a sliding door. We called up the reception they came and sprayed some chemical and the entire room
Was smelling of that and the insects behind wardrobe and places appeared more than anything z there were ants running on your tooth brush and stuff. So anyway We slept for about 2 hours and than early morning checked a nearby hotel which is cappella and came here and it was perfectly well maintained. The so called hanging balls of Bali was such a big big disappointment as it’s marketing falsely as a 5 star property and charging over $1500 a day... please be aware that pictures gives false impression and this is the type of place that you go to visit for one day to take some picsz

Unusual setting with gorgeous views are the most appealing aspects of this hotel. Superb service and friendly staff are also excellent. Some negatives were: the old and tired bathroom in our unit - very dated with wear-and-tear stains on the massive tub and oddly shaped sinks; a very hard mattress on our king bed; noisy villa beside us with occupants playing loud music. (so out of place in such a tranquil serene setting). We liked the pool area, loved the large number of entertaining monkeys, and, again, loved the friendliness of all staff.

I stayed at the hotel August 2019 with my girlfriend. I booked it and flew from London to have the most amazing relaxing few days in this Gorgeous hotel.

I must say the staff couldn’t be more friendly or helpful.

The location is indeed beautiful and from first look it was paradise. That’s was until every two mins for 12 hours straight everyday during my stay wannabe instragram stars take over removing any tranquilly there is. It was horrendous and before you knew it you were starring in the background whenever you try and have a swim.

The food was ok but very expensive and the drinks even more so.

The private pool in our villa was in shade most of the day.

It’s a lot of money for what it is. I think if they sort out and clamp down on the photo taking as truly it’s beyond a joke then it’s nice but very overpriced.

Customer service wasn't the greatest. Aside from breakfast, food was actually subpar at best. Not a great location either....it's far from town and the traffic is awful. Pool closes early. Don't get the floating lunch...it was way overpriced and bad food. Beautiful grounds and nice rooms but overpriced for what it was.

We enjoyed the sunset and sunrise in our private pool, the place is a perfect combination of nature and civilization, you can walk down to the river, play with monkeys, in the meantime, it has great food and spa; perfect place for meditation and rest. Horrible experience in a far hotel from everything

My wife and I couldn't stay more than an hour in this hotel. Others might like it but we didn't.
First, the hotel is far far away from ubud center, they have a shuttle that stops at 3 PM, which means u r stuck in the hotel with one restaurant for the rest of the day & night.
We got to the hotel around 7 PM to check in to our room, and when we got the room I heard my wife screams because she saw around 5 spiders inside the bed nest. So we had to go out of it. The lobby tried to show us others rooms, and everyone had the same issues, others were a little bit cleaner and had less insects than our room.

Staff tried to show us other rooms, but they were not at the standard we expected. Also I have to mention that this wasn't out first night in ubud, we stayed in another hotel in Barong village for 2 nights and it was cleaner and better service than this one with more food options and discounts on massages even though it is cheaper.
This 1 hour in the hotel has caused trauma and stress to my wife that we couldn't shake off for another 2 days. Even with all this they are still not acknowledging this issue and pretend as if we are the couple with issues. I understand that others might be ok with it, but we weren't, and we didn't know about the insects issue until we got there.

We went to Hanging Gardens of Bali for our honeymoon and it was a great experience! Our room was upgraded complimentary. Although all of the rooms are beautiful it was a wonderful gesture. Of course this place is more expensive than your typical stay in Bali but it was worth it. The food is wonderful and staff goes above and beyond. There is a government and service tax on all food and drinks and spa which is an increase as well. The pool is so amazing and unreal. We hope to come back to Hanging Gardens and Bali soon!

The Hotel is extremely overpriced for Ubud and is not all that great. I believe the facility has 44 rooms, during my stay as per staff only about 30% of the hotel was occupied. They wouldn’t extend my room for late check out, wouldn’t let me use my drone (as per staff for guess privacy) mind you there were no guess around at all when I attempted to take a shot of my gf and I in the pool. Two different staff members came to tell about the drone use one after the other, as if I’m a high school girl and need to be repremended. Also, the drone was not in use or even on when the second staff followed us around. Brought it up to the manager on my way out, he kindly gave me two pens as an apology for the inconvenience, then pens that they have in the room for your use. You can stay in a private village in Ubud with a pool and a personal chef for a quarter of the price of this place.

This hotel is what you expect and more. We stayed here for two nights for my birthday and was not disappointed in the slightest. We were welcomed and checked in, and shown to our room. Staff dealt with all luggage. The room is beyond words, absolutely gorgeous, speaker provided for music, large comfortable bed, enormous bath and shower, and excellent outside area with personal pool! Daily breakfast was varied and tasty. On the evening of my birthday we went to the restaurant for food, was welcomed by name and seated. The food was delicious, and the meal ended with them bringing out a cake slice and sang happy birthday- a very special and personal touch seeing as myself nor friend had mentioned it was my birthday. I could fault nothing with the whole stay, room and hotel! My only negative would be on the day of leaving, our transfer was several hours after check out so we stayed on the resort due to location, and staff made us feel as though we were no longer welcomed to just sit in the pool bar/restaurant and made us feel uncomfortable.

Paradise in the jungle

All the descriptions and information we had read about the Hanging Gardens were pleasingly accurate. On arrival, I didn't know where to start: Dive into the private pool attached to our family villa with breathtaking views across the jungle? Fill up the luxurious bath filled with fragrant rose petals and relax with candle burners? Jump onto the King bed and enjoy the stunning, uninterrupted views of the jungle? Lounge on the day beds next to our private pool and apart from the birdsong enjoy the peace and tranquility? Or walk across to the hotel's 2 infinity pools described as The Best Swimming Pool in the World. This may sound like I have cut and pasted from the hotel website but really it was how it is at this hotel. Last but not least all the staff are very very welcoming, friendly and attentive. The restaurant met our specific dietary requirements very well but best to let them know in advance. There were problems with the water on our level which did cause us disruption and room move but the manager did compensate us for the inconvenience. If possible, ask for a room on a higher level as the views are better but still thoroughly stunning anywhere. If doing the walk across the bridge to the temple, go early in the morning before it gets hot. There are a lot of steps - some steep so stable footwear is recommended. If too much to go all the way up then there is a small temple half way up. We would definitely go back to this hotel as you get what you pay for :)

Amazing hotel with a stunning view

It was beyond amazing. The view was jawdropping. We came here for our honeymoon and everything was spot on. Food was Michelin star quality. We had the chance to try some delicious flaming wagyu beef, scallops as well as lobster risotto with truffles and nasi goreng? (not sure if I spelt it correctly). They were all among the tastiest foods we have ever eaten. We have also had the opportunity to have a 3h couples spa treatment which felt strikingly relaxing. The staff were so kind and nice to us. They made sure we were well taken care of. Super friendly and polite. Would definitely recommend it for all couples looking for a relaxing getaway in the jungle.

My first experience staying at this hotel was good enough to book it again for another night — but this second time staying the a/c in the room didn't work (it was HOT in the room, and very obvious that it wasn't working.) They took a long time to send someone to the room, finally he comes at 8:30 and while it was difficult to converse (he didn't speak english) he pointed to the a/c remote and said \"battery\" and then mentioned something about another villa. We waited an hour and a half (sweating!) and heard nothing else, so at 10:00 called the front. They said they're sorry it's not working. They offered to move us to another villa but at that point it's after 10:00 and we had already unpacked all of our stuff, and just wanted to try to sleep. Very disappointing that it would take them that long to offer this, and that the communication was significantly lacking. Looking back maybe we should have moved to the other villa even though it would have been a huge hassle- but we did'nt sleep because the room was so hot. Wouldn't stay at this hotel again due to these circumstances, and while the grounds are beautiful, it's way overpriced for what you get and the service received.

Beautiful, friendly staff, great location

Beautiful location and picturesque views from the hotel. Staff were very friendly (although they're pushed to sell a bit too much, only downside). Highly recommend the Hangimg Gardens, will be back!

This hotel is far from 5 stars. Beautiful rooms with amazing views. Very dated lobby and resort needs improvement. Not greeted by name, no special touches to deserve a 5 star rating whatsoever. Completely lacking that 5 star resort feel & service. Wine was served very warm (we were told the frig went out). Check in delayed an hour and resort was at 1/2 capacity (per check in). Drinks while waiting weren't comp'd as they should have been. Don't waste your money on this overpriced resort.

The best view ever, staff were incredible, very friendly, helpful and professional.
But for a 7star hotel it should have had a gym! This was a big let down for us.
Also I know it’s in the middle of the jungle but there were a lot of bugs in the room, a lot of very big ants!
Also the floor is ridiculously slippery.

tranquil & stunning place but really $$$ food

This hotel is exactly as it looks in their photos. It blew us away. The villa had a lovely plunge pool with infinity edge and we spent more time in there then we did in the main pool. The view was stunning from everywhere in the resort. We got an hour long couples massage which was lovely and a must do I think. Other than hiking out in the heat however, there isn't much to do other than swim, eat and nap.

The staff are 10/10 eager to please. The room was beautiful and peaceful but the floor was strangely slippery and the shower sprayed water onto the floor so that was difficult to manage. All in all we loved the room and found it really romantic. We had no drama with towels or bugs or the monkeys. This is the kind of place that's hard to forget.

What made us decide that we would never come again was the prices of the food. The cocktails were so average they wouldn't pass as cocktails in Australia, and on our last day they charged us $10 (100 000r) for a latte while we waited fo a taxi, so that was a bit of a sting, since typically you can get them in Bali for 5000r. The dinner was expensive, really small portions and we both thought the mains were average. Room service was very average. Their desserts are unreal however and breakie was decent. This is really sad because other than that this place is lovely.

Our rooms was amazing and the bed was super comfy. The food was good and the main pool was amazing! This hotel is more expensive then other hotels in ubud, but it's worth the price!

Opened in 2005, clearly outdated in 2017.
This is not a 5 stars hotel.
Accomodation outdated.
Villa is dark and smells humidity. Terrace broken near the pool. Shower leaks. Food is disappointing too.
Great view and great pool.
Overall, to me, this hotel is totally overrated.

For the same price, please go to Mandapa (Ritz) which is a real 5 stars hotel. Brand new accomodation. Amazing personnel. You won't believe your eyes, the difference between the two is huge.

Beautiful!

We stayed here for a few nights for our honeymoon and it was lovely! The pool is even more breathtaking in person and we loved being secluded. The service here is phenomenal and the food is delicious. The prices are a little more expensive than out in the city but that's to be expected when you're staying in a luxury hotel. The private pools in the villas are amazing. I highly recommend staying here!

The Perfect Escape

My partner and I decided to treat ourselves with a 3 night stay at this incredible hotel for our birthdays this year. The hotel and the staff were incredible. The only thing I wish I had known, was that the hotel is not in Ubud. It is situated about 20-30 minutes outside of the town and there is absolutely nothing around you. The hotel does offer a free shuttle, however it doesn't operate after 5pm, so dinner anywhere other than the hotel will always end in a 30 min taxi ride. This didn't bother us too much, as we were there for an escape, during a two week tour of Bali, however it is something to think about for next time.

Tranquility & luxury.

The Hanging Gardens of Bali is without a doubt, one of the most luxurious hotels in Bali. Set in a jungle landscape it also offers a completely different outlook to other locations that Bali has to offer.
Whether you are staying for a one night treat, or a 7 day stretch, the cost is certainly relative to what is on offer & even though it is on the high side, we would recommend at least a one night stopover to experience this unique setting.
As you would expect, the food & treatments are on the high side as well but this is definitely outweighed by the surrounding landscape & well arranged rooms, along with the attentive staff.
If you do choose to stay here, we did 3 nights, definitely arrange the complementary morning tour, it's a must to experience the authentic side of the local life.

Run down place in desperate need of renovation

My first thought was that it would be a tourist trap because of the famous pool, but after reading a lot of good reviews, I decided to book it. It was a mistake - I would not call this a 5-star resort. The rooms are old with surfaces and finishes in desperate need of renovation. Bugs and ants everywhere in the room, which the hotel showed no interest in helping with. Not very efficient air conditioner. The pool area is poorly serviced with old towels, blown speakers playing western top 40 songs, and there was even renovations going on during the day of our first stay. I do not understand why a hotel would drill in concrete and disturb pool guests in the middle of the day. Concierge was very friendly and showed willingness in resolving issues, although things didn't always get done. Service was good but in no way exceptional and far from where it should be at this price. Food and beverage very average - they even serve regular tea bags instead of something of quality.
