We had an amazing stay in one of the three street level suites. The terrace offers incredible views. The suite was fantastic, new, clean and fresh. The service was excellent.

Be prepared to travel by car, bus or taxi to Riomaggiore as it is a 10 minute trip to town.

If you are without a car, don't count on a taxi. There is only one in the area.

The bus stop is close, and altough the bus does come regulalry/hourly, for some it could be a challenging factor relying on the bus.

Overall, a wonderful hotel.

Also, check out the restaurant/bar 290m down the road. Worth the busy road walk!

The view from the room is amazing. We were in room 2, which has a small balcony with a table and two chairs. We were overlooking the Ligurian sea from a few hundred feet anice. Ample free parking. Restaurant on site services mainly guests only. We only had breakfasts.
Only two free standing restaurants walkable from hotel, both are casual/good. One is part of another hotel.
Staff were very kind and helpful. I’m sure it is mentioned in other reviews, but there is no lift, so you will be taking some stairs to your room.

Disappointing. Great view but no restaurant

The views are lovely from the room but the hotel is advertised as having a restaurant, which it did not. A buffet breakfast was on offer at additional cost, but otherwise the receptionist advised us to walk to a restauarnt nearby. As it happened, we decided to drive to one of the Cinque Terre ports for dinner, but overall we were disappointed. The photographs portray the hotel in a very good light, but we do not think this was good value for money at all.

So peaceful and quiet after visiting the Cinque Terre towns. Beautiful views, wonderful breakfast for a small cost, and comfortable rooms. I would stay here again for sure, would rent a car next time but we were able to get around using shuttles and trains to see the area.

Rooms are on several floors without an elevator, so be prepared to climb. Our bottom floor room leaked from the bathroom window, so we were moved to a higher floor for the second night. Breakfasts were sparse, but location offered beautiful views from the decks. Short walk to lovely restaurant was a nice surprise. Nice staff, which should get better with experience.

Good location outside Cinque Terre

The location, a couple of kilometres outside Riomaggiore makes this an easily accessible location as a base to explore Cinque Terre, especially if you have a car. There is a regular shuttle available which the hotel recommends you use, but we got by fine driving as close to each village as we could get and then using paid parking facilities near each village. Sometimes you get lucky and find an open parking space nearby but that usually means a bit of a walk. The hotel is good for what you are paying for - 3 star. The building and interior is showing its age but the room was spacious, clean, reasonably comfortable and with a good view. Breakfast won’t really appeal to visitors who prefer English breakfast but ok if you’re fine with some fruit, croissants cheese and cold meat. They serve breakfast in the restaurant area or on your balcony.

Know before you go

Great view but you need to be in the know before you go! Access to a car is the best bet to stay here. It is pretty isolated with the exception that there are two restaurants within walking distance. The hotel boasts a restaurant however only really a breakfast option we learned. The closest other eating options were completely booked so we were about out of luck except that the closer one took potty on us and fit us in at 9:30 pm. Not a problem as we eat late especially in Italy but it could be and again we got lucky. Turns out the food there was fantastic! We had to pay 15 Euros for a cab up there but the front desk guy said it’s easy to catch the shuttle down and gave us the schedule. Lucky for us we were there early as we were about the last that fit in and got surprised to learn that you need to go online and pay in advance for your shuttle pass - which we had to scramble to get done while standing on the shuttle.
Beautiful view and relaxing stay just be prepared. We would never have chosen this as an option if we had all the facts. We were on foot and the logistics to get there really would have knocked this out as a possibility for us had we known all the facts.
Gorgeous view though.

Not good at all

This was a more run down hotel. Not like the pictures. Honestly was a little shady when we got there and through our entire stay. If I hadn’t prepaid I would have left the first night. Rooms had bugs in them (I killed at least 5-10 in the two days we were there). Says it’s a bar and restaurant but they don’t have one, and it was just super uncomfortable. Would not recommend staying here.

We were really disappointed with our stay. This hotel is very very basic. The bar and restaurant were shut in the evenings, no fridge in the room, dated decor and furnishings and very noisy. Noise from other guests really travels around the place. We were regularly disturbed.

There is a free shuttle bus which runs a limited service to Riomaggiore., but last bust back is 8pm.

If I had to make the choice again, I'd stay in La Spezia and get the train to Cinque Terre... They run every 20 mins.

The location provides easy access to Riomaggiore via shuttle bus, however, the service is less frequent than we expected and in the evening the bus was full on the return journey so we had to take a cab which cost 20 euros rather than 2:50 pp on the bus.
Bedding and room facilities are very basic, and we felt these were less than we expect from a 3* rating. Breakfast was fine, very nice fruit, and the usual Italian items.
Staff were pleasant and whilst helpful, did not give us the right prices for transport.
Would perhaps consider staying there again because of the location, which provides a good amount of parking, which was essential for us as we were on a road trip.

The view is only for 3 rooms if you are lucky to get one, the lad in the front desk wasn’t helpful at all the apartment they gave us was clean and no really a view as we booked for that reason only, and after 9:00 pm is no one in the office all door lucked, I won’t recommend this place at all

WiFi not working, room very basic for the economy room. The only difference was supposed to be the view, but we had to stay in an adjacent building to the hotel that was not very nice. At least the A/C was working. Stuff was nice, but the place was not one I would recommend. Make sure to check bus schedule if you are not driving because they don’t run very often. This place is way out of town.

Be aware this hotel is not in the main resort area of Riomaggiore but is a 10 minute bus or taxi from the town area. Nice and quite location, with two decent restaurants just down the road. Room condition and comfort of the bed left much to be desired in our “economy” room, however it was well cleaned.

The hotel is in a good location to walk to Lake Como with many stores and dining opportunities. The restaurant offerings looked interesting but not food my system could handle. The breakfast was great with wonderful coffee! Pleasant staff. Comfortable bed and roomy bathroom.

I bit far away from town. sixteen euros every time that I need to get to town. If you diving then is different, don't have to spent on commuting.

We have the economic room, so the view that was not good, the heater was off the first night, so it was a cold night. No internet signal either.

The staff was friendly but, they should check for all services to be properly working.

This hotel(motel) is 25 min outside the village up on the very sharp hill. Last bus from village to hotel is at 8:00 pm . After that you are prisened in your room. There is nothing around and within walking distance. The economy rooms are in a separate building from reception building and doesn’t feel safe, plus No WIFI. Breakfast is prepared for the first 10 guests and the rest would enjoy a piece of bread and a cup of espresso! If you ask for anything more, someone would yell from the kitchen in Italian that nothing is left . If you pay more and book a room in main building, you might enjoy a see view. Quite expensive for location and service.

This was a nice little hotel located on the outskirts of Riomaggiore. It was difficult to get to and from and unless you wanted to pay 20 euro each way to get into the main part of town, you had to perfectly time your shuttle bus ride, which was often cramped. The view was lovely and it was nice to have a full size shower but I’d choose somewhere closer to the center of the city. The beds were also not comfortable at all. Other than that, it was a standard low-fee stay, very typical of Italy.

Our stay was excellent. The view from our balcony was nothing less than amazing. The staff was great as well, very friendly and when we had trouble getting a cab called one for us, who turned out to also be a very nice gentleman. We found it convenient as parking is free so a short cab or shuttle ride to Riomaggiore where you can catch the train to the rest of the areas coastal towns. And also a short ride down into La Spezia as well. We would recommend highly and if in the region again would not hesitate to book another stay.

Absolutely perfect spot to stay near Cinque Terre if you don't want to stay on one of the islands. The rooms have a great view on the hill of the water. The breakfast is superb and they have a small dinner menu if you don't want to go out. There is also a full bar. Parking is free on the premises. Pet friendly.

It is real gem away from the noise of the villages

The staff was always ready to help! We received our dinner in our room without any problems. They always provided needed transportation to Riomaggiore and back to our hotel at all hours of the day, but generally we were back before 6 PM. We ate breakfast at the hotel, and did not feel the need to have lunch mid day as we were full. We were full because we liked the food. The view from the balcony was priceless, we were able to see the sun's glow over the French mountains, basking us in a warmth of it's own. Feb is cold, but the local aperitif made us as warm as the cozy room itself. I felt that the distance from Riomaggiore was a daunting exercise to get back to the Hotel, but given the staff's dedication to their clients, it was a delight to stay away from the actual village itself.

It was a bit disappointing that once we arrived in town we realized the hotel was a lot further from town then mentioned in the hotel description. However once we figured how to get to the hotel, it's a simple bus ride or taxi away from town. In fact, the hotel was a very nice calm place to unwind with unbeatable views.

Family-type ''vintage'' hotel. Close to Riomaggiore and easy access by car, large parking. Bus stop in front of the hotel to get to Riommaggiore train station. Wonderful view on the sea. Nice little balcony. Great breakfasts. Comfortable beds. However the rooms (like most in Italy) are not sound-proofed.

While not easy to drive to ( winding roads, cliffs!), the breathtaking views from the hotel's terrasse and the surprise of having our own/private balcony to enjoy cocktail hour while watching the sun go down made the challenge of getting to the hotel well worth it. RioMaggiore and CinqueTerre are an amazing area to travel to, and staying at the Two Gemellis made it even more enjoyable. If you stay, make sure to have the bruschettas that are homemade and delicious, along with a chilled glass of white wine! There is no better way to watch the sunset!

The hotel room was clean which is the most important thing for me. The hotel
Is very old and there is a lot of stairs and smoking is allowed in the common area so it didn't smell great. The room was clean but definitely outdated. The bidet was clogged and the walls/doors don't keep any sound out - we could hear the person snoring in the next room. Overall for the price and location it wasn't bad, but don't expect a lot and you won't be disappointed. Bring ear plugs - it's a decent place to put your head down for the night

We spent 7 night in this hotel, it's basic a bit far from town but we walked most of the times to the little village, this place ia very clean excellent staff very helpful, offers gorgeous food not a massive selection but what they do offer it's very very nice..

David and his staff went out of their way to make it worthwhile. Showed us how to catch the bus to town for $1.25. Picked us up when we missed the last bus. Served a good (not huge - we're not trying to gain weight here) and a fantastic cup of coffee. I was ready to ask for a job. Views incredible. Cold beers on deck - delicious!! Italy - this is it.

No the best choice

Red to get downs don flight to if stairs to go to your room, no ones here to help with the luggage. Bugs in the shower and ants al around the door to the balcony. Beds not comfortable. Complicated to get to the villages and back, guy at the front desk promised a shuttle a21:30 but then when we called he said it's not possible, had to pay a taxi.

We were a little bit disappointed with our stay at hotel Due Gemelli. Before reservation, as we knew we would check in late (past midnight), we made sure they could accomodate us. When we called a few hours before checking in, the person we spoke to gave us indication on how to get to our room. Needless to say it turned out to be very difficult to get our keys and go to bed. The room itself was ok, nothing more. As for the breakfast, it was very little and not many options were available. On the bright side, the parking was easy and I was glad we didn't have to go in the Cinque Terre villages to park. If ever you decide to stay at hotel Due Gemelli, make sure to ask for the bus timetable to get to RioMaggiore. The hike to get there was very long and the views were not impressive compared to what you get to see between the villages. 15 minutes bus ride compared to 2h30 hike. Hike the rest of the villages, but not from Campi to Riomaggiore.

Great view from the balcony.

This hotel is old and the rooms are reminiscent if a youth hostel.
This could be a great place, but the room and fixtures inside are old and broken.
No Wi-Fi as advertised, and to charge 5 euros for the breakfast is embarrassing.

Limoncello out of lemons!

Hotel Due Gemelli started out being an average hotel with above average views of the Cinque Terre coastline from the balcony of our room. what made our experience outstanding was what happened during a power outage of several hours due to a severe storm. The young man in charge at the front desk, Luca, had his mother come in and prepare an incredible feast for the guests who were staying at the hotel. 10 of us sat at a table lit with many candles: it was one of the best memories of our trip to Italy! My only suggestion: it would have been nice to have a blow dryer provided.

Next day we were covered in bites... just hit the road...did not even shower there. Just wanted to get out. Sorry, but would not recommend at all... paid more in bite salve to stop itch from bites than cost of roo. Should be offered refund to offset

The place was clean and the views off the balcony were just stunning but the rest was rather uninspiring. That said, the place wasn't uncomfortable and the showers were nice. There was a shuttle to the Cinque Terre paths but otherwise in a fairly remote spot. That said, venturing through the five towns I would guess the quality is similar to most other places but at a more affordable price.

Wonderful place to stay. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, the food is very good and it is close to the train and bus stations.

First the hôtel is far away from the city, no way to walk down to it.
Then the connections internet is not good and get worse with the Level of your room. Level 2 was acceptable, Level 3 was à joke. one room had air conditioning the other not.
There is no elevator and so many step.... Last, 2 guys are @ the réception one very Nice nd helpful the other-lucas- not so much. Well, cinque terra was nevertheless a great adventure.

Comfortable with easy to villages and trails

When arrived there was no one at reception desk thus had to track staff down. Staff spoke some english and were helpful when asked. Room was clean and good size. Balcony area was great but the weather was bad so not able to enjoy. Drove to hotel, but took bus to villages on the coast. Parking for car was very good and had no problems using public transportation.

Exquisite Views

Would have been perfect but because of all the marble, the sound carries. Difficult to sleep with people in the lobby talking until 1AM. The views were exquisite and the staff was very helpful. There is a bus right outside the door to town. Would stay there again.

Quiet Retreat

This hotel is nice, and if you want a quiet night during the busy season, this is the place. The problem is transportation to and from the hotel. The bus runs about every 90 minutes. The other alternative is a 15 Euro transfer. This can add up. If we were going again, we would book in one of the 5 villages to have the convenience. Otherwise it was a beautiful view and nice, helpful staff.

Good wifi, happy staff, cheap good food. it's isolated but the views are so high and so vast across the Med that you cannot help loving this place.

Lovely view

While technically in Rio Maggiorie, it was really a bit out of town. Directions should indicate it is on the major coastal road. Finding it using an american gps was tricky. We enjoyed our stay and staff were very helpful. They were correct on the number of steps! but it wasn't too bad. Meals were good, view lovely.

This hotel is a short drive to Riomaggiore. Be prepared to lug your bags down a lot of stairs and back up again when your finished. The room itself was average but comfortable and had a wonderful view of the sea. Being out of town it's peaceful and quite when you return from a night out. The wifi in the room was a weak signal at best and would drop out regularly. We would have to open the room door and stick our phones or iPad out to get the signal back and would have a slow weak signal back until the next drop out. The wifi was good upstairs in the public areas. Overall all it wasn't a bad stay but it did have it's challenges.

Let me start by saying that I don't think there are too many five star hotels in Riomaggiore so the Due Gemelli is about as good as you'll find in the area. The room was ok, nothing fancy, however, it did have a balcony with a very nice sea view. The bed was basic and needs a new mattress. The breakfast was also basic and cost 5 Euro. Parking is included. The best thing about the hotel was the restaurant. The quality was good and at reasonable prices. Bus service is only 50 meters from the hotel and takes you to Riomaggiore in about 10-15 minutes. However, the bus schedule is sporadic so be sure to get a schedule from the hotel so not to waste time waiting. The cost is 2.50 Euros each way.

As for Cinque Terre, I found it to be over hyped and thus disappointing as compared to other seaside towns we visited in Ligure.

Delicious food and great breakfast; easy access to 5T by bus as driving to Riomagiore is not recomended.

Stunning Views

Although we were 3km from Riomaggiore proper, the staff, who for the most part spoke excellent English, was excellent in its assistance with managing the bus and other transportation options. If you prefer quiet coupled with unparalleled views as opposed to the hustle and bustle of the villages then this is a great spot.

Great views but need a car !

We stayed here at the sight of not having many options in the actual towns. We had a car so it was fine, but I would've preferred to stay in one of the five given that regardless you have to pay for parking (reasonable prices). The views and peacefulness of the rooms are definitely worth it! The breakfast not so much.

Great place to stay and enjoy area. The views!!!

Great place to stay if you want to be out of the town. Worth it for the views driving up and from the hotel. Very good service and helpful staff. Could not beat evening meal - had the fish and was shown it being caught that morning.
Lots of stairs down to room, so check which floor you are on if that would be a problem.

Functional Stay with an Amazing View

It is important to note we used this hotel as a place to sleep and shower, not as a destination stay, as we were aware it was not located close to any one center. The shuttle is right outside the hotel and easy to use. We only ate breakfast on the checkout morning (it was lovely) but cannot fairly rate the restaurant beyond that. The staff was always pleasant and helpful. The ocean views from the rooms were outstanding and enjoyed immensely. The hotel is charming in a salute to the roaring days of the past. It was quiet and peaceful, located away from town centres.
