First of all, the front desk staff were super friendly and always helpful with anything I needed!
The breakfast was very good.
However, the facilities are quite old, and there were electrical issues in the room.
Also, the room wasn’t clean. And the air conditioning was controlled only from frondest - so we need to ask for temperature changes.

There was nothing wrong with the hotel at all. Very quiet, clean, and very nice staff. Great breakfast! The only issue is that I booked this place because it said it was only 15-20 minutes from all the major sights. However, it was more like a 40 min taxi or an hour by public transport. The bus stop is right outside of the hotel, but wish it would’ve been more accurate about distance from the city.

Great atmosphere, and no traffic noise, but it was the staff that really made our stay. They couldn't have been nicer, and were so helpful. Only downside was that the basic rooms were pretty small. But why would you stay in your room, when it's so nice in the grounds and the main building?

The outside of the hotel was promising, but the interior was very old and dilapidated. Also, the location is terrible, it took a train and a bus that rarely showed up to get out there. I thought it was close to the airport to make up for the distance to the city, but it was a 30 minute drive there. Also the hotel advertised a complimentary shuttle to the airport, but it was 50 euros.

Traveler BEWARE! Location very far away from any main city attraction. Inconvenient location makes traffic nightmare twice as bad. Picture looks twice as good as reality. Room did not have working AC/ Had to be moved to smaller room to have working AC. Knowing that last minute accommodations are impossible to find, management could not care less if I cancelled or not. They NOT HAPPY about the room being prepaid via EXPEDIA and they not shy to let you know. When asked for some kind of credit to make up for inconvenience, I was told to leave if I wanted, otherwise, no credit or compensation. If this is your first time in Rome, you may want to be closer to downtown, with traffic, it takes about 1 hr to go to any main attraction.

Although the hotel is looking a bit dated the welcome and interest shown by the hotel team soon helps you to forget this . Although only around 20 minutes by car to Romes central area I would strongly recommend you hire a car . On Friday which I was told is a regular occurrence public transport was unavailable due to a strike by drivers . Car hire works out as good value as you would spend the same amount on taxis to and from the airport. The hotel has links with the restaurant two minutes away which is great for nights when you don't want to travel for your evening meal . Price is average and food is good . Rome was amazing and topped off by an impromptu drive round by the Pope who blessed the crowd after Mass on Sunday a once in a lifetime experience.

This is our second stay at this hotel. Overall it was as expected and pleasant. Sadly something happened to their Internet line and there was no WIFI. Out of their control but WIFI is one of our main criteria for picking a hotel for work and travel needs. Maybe in the future a backup plan or notice/discount can be offered to your guest before check-in.

The only thing positive about the hotel was the staff. The hotel is old and rundown. The carpets were very dirty all over. the bed was very uncomfortable. Breakfast was not bad. Be aware the hotel is about 20-30 minutes drive from the city. Must have a car. Parking is a pain in Europe no matter where you go.

Beautiful room and hotel, however for a family of 5 it did seem a bit small. Breakfast was good with cakes, cereals, fruit and breads etc. Bus (904) towards Rome was right outside the hotel, and took us straight to the train station with only a 20 min journey.

If you are expecting nice cold AC in your room, think again. Terribly warm our first night to find out that the AC is controlled from the front desk; set to an energy efficient level (read as warm) during a time when it was 34+ Celsius in Rome. Room never felt cool enough. Beds were uncomfortable, but the staff was satisfactory and helpful.

Great Staff and convenient location

This hotel is in a substantial estate near to the ring road round Rome and its airport. There is ample parking available, the bedroom and bathroom were great with good wifi available. There is no restaurant at the hotel but a very nice one just across the road. I had hoped to spend a day in Rome after the rest of my party had left, unfortunately there was a public transport strike that day, however the fantastically helpful hotel manager suggested I drive to the lake just north of the hotel and this was a brilliant suggestion, avoiding the grid locked city.

Excellent location to stay outside Rome, but with easy access to Rome, Port and Airport. Stayed in family apartment (slept 6+) and it was great. Good breakfast as well. Owners & staff were very gracious and helpful. Only slight negative is that wifi signal did not work other than in lobby area (hotel rooms might be different, our apartment was in a separate building).

This is a nice hotel but it is not close to anything. There is no restaurant that you can safely access by foot. The wifi does not work at all. It's ok to stay (and the beds are really comfortable) but just understand what you are getting yourself into.

Fantastic hotel!

On arrival the staff were nothing but friendly and helpful. All members of staff spoke very good English and were always on hand if we needed advice. The hotel is situated in a lovely area just out of Rome, the room was very comfortable and clean throughout. The air conditioning was not working properly and so sometimes the room would be very hot when we arrived back after a day out; it was not unbearable and we just opened a window. Overall the hotel and staff at hotel selva candida are fantastic and we would 100% choose to stay there again.

We have excellent 3 nights stay at Selva Candida Hotel, everything seems very easy and pleasant. The location is a little bit away from the center, it is perfect if you drive then you can drive to the center and park at one of safe parking lot (18 euro/day), ask the front desk for information. Everyone was helpful and knowledgeable about tourist information, Flo helped us a lot the first day on how to get to Rome and a better way to get there, as well as some recommendation about the place to eat. Pleasant stay, highly recommended.

The highlight of this hotel are the staff..they treat you like family,every single one of them.The hotel has lovely grounds and ideal for kids to burn some energy.The rooms are comfortable and clean.There is a great restaurant a stones throw away.We had some of the best italian food there that we have ever had and the staff there too are very nice.
Getting to the city centre can be a complete nightmare specially if you are using the road as the traffic even at 6,45 am is awful.We missed our papal audience as a result of this traffic situation but this had nothing to do with the hotel.

Excellent hotel in a secondary location unless you have a car and are looking for easy autostrada access as we were. The trip to central Rome requires a 20 minute bus trip on a bus that is supposed to come every 30 minutes (but we waited an hour one morning) and then the Metro, if there is not a strike. We resorted to taxis.

The staff is very friendly and helpful and there is a very good restaurant just across the road. We would definitely stay there again if arriving in Rome by car.

The apartment was very nice with a separate bedroom for my wife and I. Breakfast was included every morning, but dinner was a challenge as the property didn't have a restaurant and there isn't much that's close that stays open very late. I'd recommend you eat dinner before heading back to the hotel from the central city. Don't drive into Rome, take the bus (the stop is right outside the hotel property) to the metro and ride the subway.

Best hotel stay we have ever had in Italy. Hotel Selva Candida is a fantastic place to stay while visiting Rome. The entire staff is extremely helpful in making your stay as perfect as possible. We have stayed there three times now, and each experience was fantastic. The rooms were always perfect. Plenty of free parking, with no hassles. The bus line stops just outside the gates, which takes you to the Rome Metro line. Easy access to and from Rome. Overall well worth the money, with what you get. The daily breakfast is exceptional with lots of choices. Hotel is located in a suburb of Rome, in a quiet area. Grounds are well kept, and it has always been a pleasure to stay there. The staff will provide any information you require, and help you in any way possible. Highly recommended hotel.

A delightful hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Breakfast was good. Rooms were comfortable. The downside, if you are visiting Rome tourist sites, is the journey into the city and back. This can take an hour by bus and metro. If you are happy with this it is a great place to stay and good value for money.

Excellent location. We had to drive a few kilometers to the metro station. The on-duty desk staff gave us complete instructions for free parking and metro access. We went right to the sites of interest and met all our goals thanks to the staff help. Hotel was clean with excellent bathrooms and breakfast was as promised. I would stay here again when in Rome.

Huge bathtub.Good breakfast. They even let us go in there early when we had to leave the hotel before the normal breakfast time.

Location not ideal. Had to take bus, then metro, to get into Rome. This took about an hour.

A good,clean which was easy to find on public transport with a Metro train then bus. the standard one Euro single fare for the whole journey is very good value. Breakfast is a standard cold buffet with not a great selection, the staff are pleasant and very helpful. My room was let down by weak Wifi and only lukewarm water in the shower but a friend's room had good Wifi and hot water. No restaurant but a very good one just across the road.

This is our second stay at this hotel and we were pleased to see that we enjoyed it as much as we did three years ago. The hotel is beautifully maintained inside and out. The rooms are impeccable, cosy and comfortable. The continental breakfast is composed of fresh products...including delicious cakes to die for.The staff, one of the best teams we've encountered on our trip, offers remarkably cheerful and attentive service. This hotel is far from the tourist sites. One must first take the bus, then the metro to get to the city center. It is best for those with a car.

Hotel Selva Candida (Rome)

The hotel has an impressive entrance from the road and is set in pleasant grounds. It has a spacious and elegant entrance foyer and reception desk. All the staff were friendly, helpful, and smartly dressed. The room was nicely furnished, nothing tatty or tired, with a very nice ensuite bathroom. Toiletries were provided. Choice at breakfast was very good, with cheeses, cold meats, cereals, yoghurt, fresh fruit, pastries, juices, tea and coffee. The only downside was the location, out in the sticks. The bus stop was near the entrance and it was a 20 minute ride to the terminus. From there a journey of 4 stops on the Metro and then a short walk to get to the Vatican, the closest major attraction. The bus ran every 15 minutes. The tickets, which cover bus and Metro, can be bought in the hotel, and the cost per day for 2 of us was incredibly cheap.

A lovely smart clean quiet hotel with most helpful staff.Located about half hour by 904 bus from Cornelia tube.A main bus stand is about 600 mtrs from tube.The hotel is on right hand side of road (arriving).The road does not have any pavements so use care when alighting.You are facing oncoming traffic.
A good cold buffet with wide choice is available for breakfast.A nearby restaurant-similar name,no connection- has a varied Italian menu for a pm meal
There is also a convenience store almost opposite the hotel.Until June 2012 (due to engineering work) Rome Metropolitana (underground) closes at 8pm mon-fri, so allow an hour plus to return to hotel from central Rome.If you are happy with this location you will have a really good hotel with great service and atmosphere.Would I stay there again-Yes

Very Helpful Staff, location away from noisy City

The Staff here were very helpful and this was very useful for figuring out how to get into the City! It was just a short bus ride and then onto the underground to get into the centre which in total took no more than 30mins. Driving in Rome with parking etc is a nightmare so the location of this place was ideal for a few days in the city. Breakfast was good and the only minor complaint would be the air-con was not very powerful and the balcony in our room at night was attacked by bats.

However I thought this was great, watching them attack my girlfriend and was one of the highlights of the entire holiday for me.

Probably the best place we stayed while in Italy,

Some people had mentioned that there is no pavement on the way to the bus stop, but it's not really an issue as it's about 4 steps away from the Hotel gates.

A bit out of the way, but very pleasant

The hotel is on the outskirts of Rome. There is a bus across the street that takes you to the subway that takes you into the tourist area of Rome--depending on traffic it takes 45-60 minutes to get to the Spanish Steps stop. However, the room cost is much less than the closer in Rome hotels especially since it is only €1 to ride transit. It was a good trade off in our opinion, especially since we weren't worried about really late nights in Rome after the underground stopped running. The hotel setting was very pleasant. Quiet at night. Nice little area to sit outside in the evenings. The staff was extraordinarily helpful and spoke excellent English. They also had the Roma pass and bus tickets available. They were able to arrange a tour for us to the Vatican--very good tour company at a reasonable price. For tourists it is an excellent value as long as you don't mind a little time on public transit.

A GREAT Stay at Selva Candida - Wonderful Staff

My wife and I flew into Rome Aug 3 and stayed at the Hotel for 2 nights before heading to Naples region. The hotel is clean, comfortable and seems brand new. The grounds are very well kept and reminded me a bit of Cancun. The staff is Very friendly, helpful and fluent in English. They can direct you to the bus stop (short walk ) which you take to the Metro station and continue on to all the Rome stops. The room was comfortable - just remember if you want the temp adjusted - call the front desk. Breakfast (free) included espresso and American coffee, some delicious pastries, meat & cheeses, along with fruit, cereals, granola, juices etc. You can use this hotel as a base to tour Rome and surrounding area. We opted to get picked up at the airport - which was arranged by the Hotel. If we stay in Rome again, we will be at this Hotel. Italy is fantastic!
