Good location if you have a car. Lovely staff, great pool with steamroom and sauna. Breakfast is really good and plentiful! Not too many reatautant options in the area, but like I said, if you have a car it's great.

A comfortable, clean, modern hotel in a quiet village approx. 25 km from Funchal, ideal as a base to explore rural Madeira. The village is small with facilities such as restaurants and a shop, but you’ll need a car. The car park isn’t large enough for all guests, meaning street parking – plenty of marked spaces adjacent at no charge.
The hotel and room were clean, tidy and modern, with amenities including indoor pool with spa and restaurant/bar. The hotel is committed to ecological practices – some restaurant food comes from its garden. Peacocks sit outside the restaurant at mealtimes. In the grounds we found João the cat’s house, rabbits, and an aviary.
We opted for half board. Good range of buffet food, with dinner offering “show cooking” with a different dish daily. Dinner staff are lovely. However, food didn’t always feel worth the cost. Our first night’s underseasoned food made us question value; the second was delicious, suggesting significant variability.
Breakfast is okay, good breads and warm food. We were disappointed by limited fruit and no bananas – we saw they had bananas in the kitchen, so assume this was to stop diners taking them away, which felt petty and leads to people taking from dinner instead. They don’t do to-go food for early flights, though they directed us to join the restaurant before opening whilst setting up. However, we didn’t feel welcomed; we ate in the dark and were directed to cold food. Having paid for breakfast, this wasn’t ideal.

Good value hotel with a reliable bus service to Funchal only 5min walk away which I used on multiple occasions. It’s very good value compared to taxis. The staff were very helpful at all times of the day and the reception always had a friendly face there to help with many questions. I would stay here again.

Love that it’s tucked away from all the noise and touristy area. No wash cloths and iron had to be returned next morning but overall, it was still a quaint warm and welcoming hotel stay.

I didn’t know how to classify my issue so I placed it under staffing. I never received a response to my complaint about second guest fees which were exorbitant — which I was able to verify through the direct booking application (20 euros per day cheaper than what I was charged). I am very disappointed and all I wanted was an equivalent secondary guest premium to what I was able to research on their direct booking application. I sent them screen shot examples of my research and no response as of yet. To be clear, I had no issues with the staff I personally interacted with, as they don’t control pricing practices and my stay was otherwise pleasant.

The staff is really friendly, and the hotel has nice details throughout. The rooms are spacious. You know it is a nice hotel by the standard of the bathroom—it was a great bathroom. The pool is lovely and has a small sauna and Turkish bath section.

Our room was really humid, we notified the reception but noting was done, no working ventilation in the bathroom.
Some spots of the hotel are not cleaned, dust and spiders found.
The swimming pool had some rust patches.
The breakfast was good on the first day afterwards the quality and quantity went down. One day, no more cheese, only one type of bread no more \"Nutella\" available only some sad rests of jam available. Salad on the buffet was black and some dead flies could be found in it. We informed the reception and the day after it was better except for the \"Nutella\" having a sour taste.

Lovely escape!!!
It's a very beautiful place and very nice staff. The only complaint was that the heat was not working and they weren't helpful at the desk, but I saw a very old heater outside a room and the cleaner gladly got one for us. It is near the most beautiful golf course in the world! We ate in a wonderful little cafe in the village where they grilled the espetada right in an oven in the wall as you watch! Very peaceful, many walkers.

The Gem at the top of the mountain
What a jewel hidden away in the mountains of Madeira! The hotel looks like a mini museum, full of antique furniture in the warm and welcoming lobby.
The included buffet breakfast is superb, and the room large, modern and comfortable. Beds and pillows are A1, and WIFI signal was strong and fast, streaming Netflix no problem.
We asked for a mini fridge and it was given us right away.
Keep in mind that the location is up in the mountain, so the weather is cooler. Other than that, it was close to everything, as the island itself is small and has great highways.

This hotel is very nice and well run.
This hotel is very nice and well run. It is just on the edge of a village and at the top of a hill so you need transport to reach it. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable with large bathrooms. All the rooms seemed to have patio doors which lead out to a paved area with comfortable furniture and then a garden beyond.
The food is excellent though I can only comment about breakfast and dinner. Both had a wide variety of hot and cold delights.
All the staff were very friendly and always wanted to help.
My stay here did enhance my holiday and look forward to staying here again.

Although, we only spent a couple of days in Santo da Serra, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the hotel- it was very peaceful, very tidy and the staff were very welcoming. Lovely breakfast too. We initially got lost on our first night, as our flight arrived late. However, the hotel is located close to park, super-market, and a Farmers' market (on Sundays). A car could be handy. However, the hotel quite close to the airport.

Having stayed all over the island, this location is great for exploring the warmer and calmer eastern side. The rooms are spacious and clean but didn't have the fridge that was on the 'included' list. One was supplied on request. Meals were very good and everything was freshly prepared. Ample car parking and the wi-fi worked fine in the communal areas. As in other places on the island, the beds were a bit on the hard side. Staff were great, very helpful and cheerful. Nice indoor swimming pool too.

Il posto è molto bello e pulito, immerso nella natura. L’unica pecca è un po’ il fatto che non tengono acceso il riscaldamento nelle varie sale dell’hotel ( hall, zona colazione/cena). A dicembre faceva abbastanza freddo, specialmente la mattina e la sera. In camera non ci sono problemi perché regoli tu il condizionatore e quindi si sta molto bene.

Sehr schönes und idyllisches Hotel! Besonders die Pfaue, die um das Hotel herumgelaufen sind, haben uns den Morgen beim Frühstück versüßt.
Das Frühstücksbuffet war großzügig und sehr lecker, und auch die Servicekräfte waren stets freundlich und zuvorkommend.
Nach einer langen Wanderung war der Wellnessbereich perfekt zum Entspannen und Ausklingen des Tages.
Einziger kleiner Kritikpunkt: Wir konnten den Zimmernachbarn schnarchen hören, als würde er direkt neben uns liegen.

Situé à 15 kms de l aéroport dans le petit village de Santo Antonio da sera , idéal pour visiter l’île en voiture . Retour au calme après de bonnes journées de visites et rando , très bel hôtel , détente avec piscine intérieur spa , tout est très propre et agencé avec goût. Le personnel est très sympathique et le buffet déjeuner au top pour bien démarrer les journées.

Hôtel très bien mais assez bruyant en interne malgré le calme à l'extérieur en pleine nature. Nous entendons les voisins le soir tard et le matin de bonne heure, mauvaise isolation phonique entre les chambres, les couloirs, on entend également les écoulements des toilettes.

Die Unterkunft hat mich positiv Überrascht! Sehr freundliches Personal und Top Frühstücksbüffet. Schöner Indoor Pool mit Sprudel und Sauna. Nach 1 Woche in Funchal hier leider nur die letzte Nacht vor dem Rückflug verbracht. Nächstes Mal komme ich hierher! Preis und Leistung stimmt!

Points négatifs : En arrivant dans ma chambre j’ai trouvé deux peignoirs déjà utilisés et dépliés qui pendaient derrière la porte d’entrée (car les propres étaient bien pliés sur le lit) ainsi qu’une serviette de bain également déjà utilisée et froissée qui pendait caché derrière la porte de la salle de bain. Il y avait aussi des traces de liquide sur la table de nuit. Je me demandais si ma chambre était vraiment prête et nettoyée… n’étant pas un client embêtant, j’ai laissé passé mais c’était limite. De plus, la chambre 162 avec vue direct sur le parking au rez-de-chaussée, oblige à avoir les rideaux fermés pour un minimum d’intimité. Le personnel étaient très sympathique sauf un homme présent lors d’un matin au petit déjeuner, aucun sourire ni de bonjour et demandait sèchement le numéro de chambre. Il semblait ne pas avoir envie d’être ici.

They have a great outdoors, balcony for the breakfast, and pattion for relaxing. But eating breakfast outside is not an option, and in the pattio there are just a few seats, and no bar service or anything. The Gym which they mention at checking holds 2 items and nothing else, one threadmill and a bench. The pool, sauna and turkish steam bath are great; but the whole ambiance feels something out of the cold war. The breakfast is basic with very limited options. Instant coffee and juices. Very large space with no ambiance. Breakfast starts at 07:30 with no options for any To-Go if your flight leaves early. So no reccomandation from us on this strange place.

Ein sehr schön gelegenes Hotel mit komfortabler Ausstattung und nettem Personal. Allerdings sollte der Wellnessbereich verbessert werden. Nicht immer war die Hygiene überzeugend. Auch sollte der Pool repariert werden.
Die Veranstaltungen waren leider meist so plaziert, dass sie nicht in vollen Umfang gewertschätzt wurden, da der Termin parallel zum Dinner gelegt war.

l'accueil était parfait, restaurant très bon. Seule chose négative, l'hôtel n'est pas bien isolé contre le bruit et nous entendons le bruit des autres résidents, de la moquette dans le chambres pourrait être la solution.

Bel Hôtel, très agréable, bon emplacement (si vous cherchez un coin au calme), le seul petit bémol, une meilleure insonorisation des portes serait bienvenue ( papotages du soir et valise du matin dans les couloirs peuvent déranger les sommeils légers ). A beautiful example of a 'quinta', owned by the same family for decades, this hotel is situated 670 m above sea level, in the village of Santo da Serra, between Santa Cruz, Machico and Funchal. For the purpose of accommodating visitors, the estate has been developed and chalets and self catering semi-detached cottages have been built in the surrounding gardens.
The bungalow complex now offers 28 accommodation units and facilities include a hotel safe and a TV lounge. Each room features an en suite bathroom with a shower and bathtub, a kitchen with fridge, cooker, microwave and tea and coffee making facilities, and a private balcony or terrace.
