Large clean room, short on electrical outlets but given an extension cord with multiple outlets at front desk which served the purpose. Comfortable beds. View of mountain towards airport and ocean, could hear the planes take off but didn’t impact our sleep much. Great daily room cleaning with friendly staff. Nice large breakfast buffet with basic selections which should cover varying food preferences. Good location, beach, water sports, restaurants and bars, bus stop close by, trails, etc..
overall an older property but very well maintained.
I’d definitely stay there again.

Honnêtement cest la pire hôtel que nous sommes allés depuis des années. Aucun savon et séchoir dans la salle-de-bain. Aucune machine à café et tout semble délabrer. Ne vous fiez pas aux photos, cet hotel a clairement besoin d’un rafraîchissement. Par contre, nous avons adoré les alentours, c’est vraiment magnifique et tout se fait à pied.

We stayed at Dom Pedro Madeira during our visit to the island and overall enjoyed it.

The location isn’t the most central, so renting a car is definitely helpful. On the days we didn’t have one, we used tour services to get around. Since the hotel isn’t directly in the main hub, some pickups charge a small additional fee (around €25), which isn’t huge but worth noting.

The breakfast was good not ultra-luxury level, but solid and satisfying.

The room didn’t look exactly like the photos online, which was slightly disappointing. However, the staff were very kind and helpful, and the price reflected good value for what we received.

We could still see the island views from the property, and overall it was a pleasant stay. Madeira itself is absolutely worth visiting.

Immaculate, peaceful with welcoming and helpful staff. Our room had a great view and I liked the design of the hotel so it was a lovely place to be, and cleverly placed at the side of a bay and also easily and quickly accessible by car.

Nice view from the room even without balcony. Pleasant reception. Rooms near stairwells are exposed to noise and music from entertainment. No porridge at breakfast. Excellent location at the end of the beach. Pool was not clean probably because low attendance? Convenient to airport.

Older hotel friendly employees for the most part … this is a 3 star hotel

AC blew hot air and don’t count on the WiFi working at least on the top floors but only in the lobby for the most part … views are wonderful and town beaches are nice with Funchal very close for other dining sightseeing options . Elevators are a bit rough two for over 200 rooms so plan to wait at breakfast check out and in the evening … hotel is like something out of a 1970s movie but the pool is nice proximity to the beach and the fantastic hiking on the Pennisula ….

This is not the Ritz Carlton, but it doesn’t have to be. Super staff, beautiful location on the edge of delightful little bay. Views to die for, pool, better than average breakfast. The furnishings are older, but not worn, and the place is very clean. Great value for money.

The hotel itself is located in a beautiful and quieter part of the island, well away from the hustle and bustle of Funchal, which is very orientated towards tourists , busy and very hilly.

The hotel and the area has a more relaxed atmosphere and environment as you are located in a town which is more realistic of the real traditional Madeira.

The hotel rooms are spacious and comfortable, spotless with fantastic views of the sea. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. They are happy to go the extra mile to help with any additional needs you might have.

As a disabled daily wheelchair ♿️ user the help from the staff was greatly appreciated. There are no large hills to or from the hotel to the town centre, restaurants, shops, banks etc and the beach to have to negotiate unlike Funchal thankfully.

I would be more than happy to return for another stay at the hotel and area.

Dom Pedro 4 night stay

The hotel is definitely old and could do with an update/makeover. It stated on theor specificatione that they do have air-conditioning, but since we stayed during the off-season, the system was still set to heating mode and couldn’t be changed until the season officially ended. We requested to switch rooms as we preferred to leave the doors open for a cool breeze, and although we were initially placed on a lower floor, the staff were very accommodating and quickly arranged a more suitable room for us.

If you are considering booking half-board for the hotel buffet, I would not recommend it. The food was quite bland, with limited options — typically three meat dishes (including fish), one vegetable dish, and either rice or pasta. However, the desserts and fruit selection were enjoyable. Breakfast was standard but not particularly impressive. Despite having half-board included, I often found myself going out for dinner as I was still hungry afterward.

The hotel’s location is fantastic, being very close to the beach, and waking up to the stunning views every morning was definitely a highlight. Overall, the staff were lovely and very helpful throughout our stay.

The staff is fantastic. The property is well kept, but is an older 10 years but in good repair. I think the property is better than many of the reviews that expected a new property. We like the quiet cute town of Machico. We worked with the hotel staff to extend our stay 4 more days!! Many nice restaurants in walking distance, It about 20 euros to get Uber to Funchal for tourist shopping.

We stayed last week and it was our first time in machico.
Hotel is very comfortable, clean with good facilities.
January is clearly a quiet month here and much of the hotel seemed under occupied.
I asked for a room with a nice view.
We were given a side sea one but noticed all the sea view rooms appeared unused?
As an Expedia customer,I thought they could have gone the extra mile and upgraded us!
Only other negative was the final bill didn't equate to the original price booked through Expedia?
Prior to arrival, Expedia added an extra amount per night for presumably local taxes and then the hotel added 20 euros of their own to this figure.
If as a tourist you are trying to budget,this pricing anomaly needs to be factored in.

We would stay again.Good points: staff helpful and professional, breakfast was fab, within 10 mins drive from the airport, a great location to plan our itinerary, lots happening in the town
within easy walking distance, beach 1 minute walk away.
Negative points: insufficient parking - we were lucky,insufficient power points in rooms, no complimentary Tea & coffee, no irons to be hired , we hired pool towels but were not given refund when we returned them.

They say they have parking but its often full. The food at the restaurant is very bad and most of the staff are rude. The views from the room is great though. It feels like a cheap hotel, you just pay for the view and the location (easy to walk to the beach, old town)

In a perfect position the Dom Pedro lived up to our expectations. Breakfast was the best hotel breakfast I have ever had. The bus stop is nearby for reaching other parts of the island as well as the airport. Our room had fantastic views of the bay. The only downside was no kettle in our room but we knew about this and brought our own travel kettle. There was also no hairdryer which is unusual for a 4 star hotel but this did not spoil our enjoyment. Evening entertained was a nice touch.

Stayed one night to catch an early morning flight as it was close to airport. The breakfast was included in the hotel stay, we asked if they could provide sandwiches for us the night before as we will miss the breakfast. All we got was a straight \"NO\". He never thought of trying to ask the kitchen staffs, didn't look friendly at all. unfortunately, not my kind of service.

Old building with cracks in plaster on beams of rooms, with noise in corridors from other residents. Chaotic breakfast buffet scramble in the morning, noisy and without room for capicity of guests, causing people to wait until there is room to sit down and eat. Great location though, multiple entrances and very friendly welcome with free maderia wine

As soon as you walk in you notice the hotel has a terrible smell. I reserved a room with a double bed but was told at check in that isn’t guaranteed and received a room with two twin beds. The pillow cases had stains on them.

Very convenient for overnight stay prior to a pre-dawn flight from FNC. Close to beach and centre of Machico. But: band playing loudly in square outside hotel until 12:40am and noisy Aircon made it hard to get up at 3:30am to catch flight. And it's right under the take off flight path... Very dated decor but room we'll equipped and functional

The hotel is super close to the airport in a beautiful town with lots of restaurants.

The staff at the front desk were rude and were complaining about us to one another in Portuguese right in front of us. It was extremely unprofessional and off-putting. We went to the bar for a drink and the male bartender there was so rude. Acted like we were a HUGE inconvenience and wouldn’t give us a minute to view the drink menu. He kept asking ‘just what do you want?’ I told him we just needed a minute and he kept pressuring us to order now. There was no one else in the bar so it’s not like we were holding up the line. We ordered a vodka lime, gin and tonic and one of the drinks off their drink menu. Only one of them was decent. The other two were undrinkable. We were not impressed.

The hotel is beautifully situated at the edge of the beach in Machico, which is close to the airport. The beach is small but quite nice and the hotel has beautiful views of the town and the ocean. Liked the buffet with lots of food options and thought it was good valeu to book breakfast and dinner. I'd definitely recommend a club room with a private balcony on the 3rd floor (mine was 316). The beds are of the hard side but it did not bother me. Overall it was a good base to explore the eastern edge of the island and not too far from the outstanding Ponta de São Lourenço

The hotel was lovely and so were the staff. Machico is a very quiet area therefore having a car or pre planned day trips is a must.
Breakfast is average. Not the worse but not the best.
Rooms are decent and clean. A lovely stay if you want a quiet place otherwise I would recommend staying in Funchal.
If the hotel updated their rooms and food then I would 100% stay again.
