Charming but in need of updating. Peaceful area and a nice hour's stroll (or less) into the attached Manor Park and its lovely pinetum. It was very muddy and boggy in the park in February, wellies are a must! Our room (12) was classed as a 'superior' but I don't think that was warranted. I've seen far nicer rooms on the website, perhaps we drew the short straw. We had a double bed which felt small, these days I like a king in a superior room.
We were up in the roof with an anteroom up a very narrow and winding stair, a maid's room perhaps. Characterful. But the bathroom needed regrouting, a couple of tears in the wallpaper and the small window needed replacing. The shower pressure was pretty useless! Not bad on cold but hot was a trickle. It took ages to rinse the soap off. Overall, not bad for night, but we wouldn't come back.

The shower in the room was pointless, no shower screen or curtain and due to the pitched roof was unable to be used (couldn't stand up in the shower didn't go above my waste)

I said we only wanted whiskeys or wine so no need for ice or to interrupt the closing down of the bar gave her £20 to stay open a little longer and we went to get our 3rd (last) drink. The bar was closed and she got home very frustrating.

I stayed 15 years ago and it was then classed as a high end hotel and was really looking forward to a return stay this week on a solo business trip. Very disappointed with how low the standards had dropped. The room was cold, dated, poor shower pressure, restaurant ok but limited choice and expensive. There was no atmosphere or back ground music and it felt like a funeral wake. Back at the bathroom, there was mould on the fittings, a towel or similar stuffed into the gap in the toilet soil pipe, rotting skirting’s. Won’t be staying again anytime soon until it has been modernised and decorated

And the room we stayed in which had a huge comfortable four poster bed, was somewhat lacking in cleanliness in the bathroom area,
The shower was falling to pieces and gave out such a poor flow of water, it was almost comical!
The toilet roll holder was almost falling off the wall
The seal at the bottom of the shower door was green with algae (I did manage to take that off and clean it) but there was a weird looking lumpy grey ‘growth’ in the plug hole in the basin that I wasn’t prepared to tackle.
Overall, despite the disappointment of not getting the garden suite room which I paid £175 per night for.
We did manage to have an enjoyable stay and the food and service were excellent.
Value for money… not so good.
So sadly would not return.

I stayed in room 19, which was advertised as a premium room.
The room was in poor condition, the carpets and facilities were below average, and the general cleanliness was poor.
The rest of the hotel appeared okay, with excellent and attentive staff, and super service throughout.

Hotel is a nice but old building, the grounds are amazing however the drive is deep gravel, very unnerving to drive on.
I was put in a disabled room, the tv could not receive a lot of the channels that should have been available, the shower was very poor taking a while to heat up and the smallest showerhead you can get, more in keeping with a youth hostel or trade/builders room.
Staff were friendly but very casually dressed, no uniform and not what you expect to be greeted with at this type of hotel.
The bar was not fully manned, but we was served quite quickly but no draught beer or cider just Guinness etc from cans.
There was no wifi information, i.e. password, nor was the breakfast prices available

Amazing stay, the staff were so friendly and helpful, my room was not ready as I arrived early, when I said I had a wedding to attend, they got my room ready super quick, it was much appreciated. Room was spotless and the bed super comfy, when I visit family again, I will be 100% be staying here.

We stayed at Flitwick Manor for one night in a Superior Double Room.
The drive up to the Manor House is impressive and the grounds offer space to walk and take in the views of the Manor Park.
Inside the hotel you feel the history of the building. Unfortunately the decor is a little tired and could do with refurbishment. There is so much potential here, but stains on the walls in the dining room and worn carpets throughout let the hotel down.
The Superior Room was in the attic of the house and was large. Accessing it requires climbing steep and tight stairs - not ideal for anyone with mobility issues. Also due to the age of the house the floorboards were typically sloped.
The staff were extremely friendly and provided a good level of service. The cooked English breakfast was one of the best we’ve had with quality ingredients.
We would stay at Flitwick Manor again but would look for a discount on the full price.

Staff put us in a separate room for breakfast because we had a baby. Said there wasn't enough room to sit with our other family members even though there was plenty. Bathroom sink rusty and general condition was past best. Wall paper peeling off the walls in the bathroom. Just needs some TLC. Most staff were otherwise nice. Nice grounds around the house. Staff tried to charge us for room again even though we had already paid online.

The hotel itself is lovely, the rooms, the food, the grounds etc. Can't really fault it. However. I booked 4 rooms for a business trip and turned up to find only two had been reserved. The hotel promised me they would book alternative accommodation as it was their issue, however this was not done, and their receptionist didnt show up the next day so there was zero support.

Booked a double room for myself but didn’t opt for the breakfast option as it was saying the cost as £40. Lovely welcome and check in where I was told the £40 was incorrect and have breakfast if I wanted it. The room looked great initially however the shower option was a handheld shower over the bath in an eaves so impossible to stand up and have a shower or wash your hair so ended up having a strip wash. The light switch to the bedside lamp was at the other end of the room to the bed so had to get out of bed to turn them on and off. No

Excellent service, best we've had in ages, friendly, well trained and efficient. Food was very good. Room was ok, but bed and pillows too hard for us. Wardrobe was ancient. Bathroom was good, well decorated and everything worked well.

The Manor is set is a large private estate with an adjoining ancient but active church also set in a very old churchyard. The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient, and both dinner and breakfast were of exceptional quality, and served in a fully wood-panelled dining room. The overall ambience of the place couldn't be faulted.

I liked the adequacy of the soft furnishing such as iron facility and the openness and light in the room. One could have benefited from a little fridge to keep the drinks cool. Not sure if it’s allowed in hotel facilities but a toilet brush would have sufficed to take care of streaks created in the toilet from those personal and private moments without having to ask the helpful housekeepers for assistance.

Over-rated and over-priced
This is an old countryside manor modified into a hotel, though clearly the modification is poor. The outside view and the surrounding environment were great, but the inside requires significant upgrades. The furniture and carpet are old and require refurbishment. The room sound-proof was really bad, I can hear almost everything next door. The floor makes creaking noise. The water pressure in the shower was terrible. Overall the great surrounding environment was not worth £160+ per day. I would rate it 6.5 out of 10.

A lovely old house that would have been stunning a few years back. It’s looking quiet tired now though and feels dilapidated. The staff were very nice and the food was tasty if a little overpriced

We stayed at Flitwick Manor for two nights so that we could attend a wedding nearby and not have to drive to the venue.
We took our 12.5 year old Labrador cross with us, as he now doesn’t like being away from us.
We had a lovely big room , away from other guests, so we weren’t too worried should the dog bark at something. We asked if the dog could be left in the room while we were out, it was not a problem. The grounds of the manor were lovely for strolling around. There were rabbits and squirrels galore to watch while eating dinner or breakfast outside.
Breakfast was excellent, dinner was too. The wine was delicious. The staff even made the dog some sausage and bacon for breakfast, as he wasn’t eating his normal food. I offered to pay but it was complimentary.
The bed was very comfy, the room was warm (it was 30 outside) but there were fans to use.
All the staff were very friendly, to both us and the dog.
My only suggestion would be a revamp of the bathroom. The shower was old and quite small. The cold water tap needs looking at.
We will definitely return here though.

Facilities are a little outdated and it would be lovely if there was a gym or pool but we loved the quietness and local walks. Dinner options were quite expensive so we ate elsewhere but the breakfast was first class and the staff were top notch!!

Sadly it’s time for the Manor to have a major refurbishment - it’s not what it used to be.
The check in was a mess, the room very dilapidated and in my opinion the bathroom was unsafe, no toiletries, minimal tea and coffee making facilities, the bar staff were nice but did not provide the service of a premier type hotel, the breakfast was good but not as good as before

We have stayed here for many years and always found the hotel and staff to be lovely. The best bit is that we can take our dog with us.
My only complaint on this occasion was the outside dining area had lots of cigarette buts underneath the tables, which wasn’t so nice. Apart for this a great stay.

What a fabulous place to stay. Lovely historical hotel in nice grounds. Every one of the staff was so friendly and helpful. Comfortable room with every facility. Even a fan to keep me cool. There was everything you could want for breakfast, and proper coffee! I would certainly stay here again.

Lovely staff and a fantastic breakfast. Unfortunately the room did not match the rest of the experience. It was very tired looking, the bathroom was not that clean and the shower virtually unusable.

Overall the hotel was charming and in a beautiful setting. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The room was spacious and we had wonderful views of the grounds. We didn't eat in the restaurant but the room service and breakfast were adequate. If there was a criticism it was that the hotel decor in general was a little tired and there was a lack of plug sockets for the modern traveller.

A lovely hotel in a traditional manor house in a really beautiful location. The park and the grounds are worth a walk, as is the local village. The rooms are spacious, but would benefit from an upgrade. Good to hear the hotel is embarking on a program of updates, including decorating and new facilities. The staff are great. The property is set amongst beautiful gardens and borders a country park. Our room was spacious with nice views over the garden. Staff very friendly and breakfast delicious.

Very enjoyable anniversary celebration. Great room (no.4), but carpet needs cleaning and relaying and we would have liked a fridge.
Breakfast excellent, dinner good, but the chicken supreme seemed like a factory-made product and was tasteless.

One to miss if you want something without fault
The room was dated and dirty, i think a manager or secret shopper should do a real analysis of what is in room 9. No temperature control/ventilation, resulted in a very uncomfortable nights sleep. Old towels, cobwebs on bathroom wall, hole in ceiling and badly covered up decor changes.
Staff were nice, and evening meal was lovely. Breakfast needs a look at though as the cereal boxes have been there that long they were stuck to the bottom of the drawers they are in. Its a quirky old place in beautiful grounds but I will not be returning.

Nice place, friendly staff, but room still had lingering smell of having been smoked in sometime in the past. There are some smells airfreshener can't get rid of. And it wasn't great being woken at 0700 on a Sunday morning by the crash of glass bottles as the recycling bin was emptied.

Flitwick Manor - 3rd August stay.
Having been going to Flitwick Manor regularly since 1981, the hotel has gone through various owners and has now started to deteriorate.
Whilst the staff are very helpful and the food is ok, the exterior decor of the hotel is in a dreadful condition with peeling paint on the Windows and obvious signs of rotten window frames.
It looks as though a child has painted the wooden panels lining the interior of the entrance hall and the ghastly, incredibly low chairs and poor quality carpet in the lounge, combine beautifully to give the impression of an old people’s home.
Only one bedroom is air conditioned and the obvious signs of “lowering the cost” of this once fine hotel, include removing the bars of soap, flannels, bath robes from the bathrooms. In addition the normal home made biscuits, plate of fruit, and two small bottles of water in the bedrooms are now absent - with a liquid soap dispenser bolted to the wall replacing the normal small bars of soap. If somebody wanted to give the impression that being a part of Best Western was going to considerably cheapen the place, they could not have done a better job.
Having owned hotels over the years, the management team of Flitwick Manor seem to be going a great job in lowering the standards of a once superb hotel.
The investment necessary need not be considerable, to bring this hotel up to a good standard - it just requires a bit of common sense from an experienced hotelier to oversee a good quality refurbishment.

This used to be a really lovely hotel, but unfortunately it is looking a bit tired. Dead flies in cobwebs on the inside of the window which hadn’t just been there overnight - saying that, they sent someone immediately to clean it. The room was a little tired but had charm and I liked it, but unfortunately, the bed was extremely uncomfortable and this would put me off returning. Staff were very friendly and helpful, so BW you need to provide decent mattresses!

44th birthday stay
Stay was for my daughters 44th birthday. One room was upgraded to a suite (which she stayed in), mine was a deluxe room. Service and food very good - was disappointed during meal as they knew it was her birthday but didn’t bring out a cake with a candle in (although they did do this foe another guest that evening. Fire alarm went off in the early hours of the morning and we had to evacuate but firebrigade were excellent and we were soon back in.

The windows had some signs of mildew which could do with cleaning off and the bathroom blind was in tatters! However, the room was warm and clean and overall we enjoyed our stay and would return.

It is a beautiful old manor and grounds converted to a hotel. It's not very walkable--we tried to walk from the train station--to far, and the long driveway is gravel. Breakfast was great, and the room was wonderful. The grounds are nice to walk around.
