The place is very tired and a great deal of refurbishment is required - rotten window frames, paint in poor condition. Parking is limited. The hotel is noisy as is the area.
The room wasn't serviced in the 2 days I was there.
I wouldn't go back and would rather pay a little more elsewhere.

The room was plenty for the two of us, the washroom was very clean and well kept. Great shower!

Not an issue for us but for anyone that needs to use a Lift to get to upper floors this place doesn’t have as it’s only Stairs. Just a heads up.

Also there was a strong cigarette smell in the hallways.

Other that that it suited our needs for the 2 nights we stayed there.

Room was next to a busy road so had lots of traffic noise and also planes flying from Luton airport. Would suggest some sort of noise cancelling for a restful sleep. Car parking is ok. Also, was told that I would receive the hotel VAT receipt via email but never received it inspite of numerous calls to the hotel.

One of the worst places visited. Not even a hotel. More of an airbnb. As soon as entering you get a really bad smell throughout the halls and room. Bedsheets smelled and not cleaned properly. Carpets very dirty. Bad customer services when we attempted to checkout. Never again!

Clean but tired.

Parking wars ! The hotel has about 8 useable parking spaces..get there early.
Nobody replenished my coffee sachets and I had no Tea bags at all for 3 days. Wooden stick for stirring summed things up.
Bathroom and bed clean..so not a bad stay. It was noisy, but that wasn’t the hotels fault.
Overall..ok. I’d stay again if I could get it cheap..would be disappointed if I’d paid full price.

It was very disappointing and didn't feel safe. All the doors pretty much have the same code and there is no additional security when you get inside your room. We had to prop a chair up against the door. Bathroom was dark. Bedding wasn't great either. Check in was a bit strange too. It was great for one night but would not recommend for longer stays.

We won’t be back

On arrival the door code didn’t work so standing in the rain calling a number on the door isn’t really acceptable in 2022.
Rubbish still in the door from last guests.
Room stank of smoke and BO. Room 15 is right above the smoking area and window was open. Was awoken at 5am by someone ringing up the off-site reception to get another door code. Corridor smelt of cannabis all evening and night.

STOCKWOOD is not a hotel, more like a hostel. We didn't see one human being during our stay. We were text a code number to get in our room. There are 11 concrete steps to get up from the car park before you start on the stairs indoors. There is no food on the premises, and no alcohol or drinks as the website suggests in photo's. (One photo shows breakfast cereals and croissants another shows alcohol in reception, totally untrue, nothing there)As far as we are concerned it is false advertising and shouldn't be allowed. On our drive to the Stockwood, we received a text asking us to fill in an electronic registration form to get get our code no. they must have known we would be driving, and the phone they messaged wasn't an i phone, so we had to ask for it to be sent to another phone, if I had been on my own I wouldn't have been able to do this while driving. The bed was clean as was the room, however, there was no where locally to eat, and no advise in the room. A complete failure, we had just been to a funeral and could have done without all this nonsense. Please put the photo's of the Stockwood right and stop deceiving people.

Did not get prior notice that the included breakfast was not on yet this was the main reason for picking this hotel.
The small room with a low sloping ceiling making it difficult to get into bed was on the top floor up two flights of very steep stairs “hard work for me age 71. The tiny bathroom had a dirty shower. The car park is very small. The bed was uncomfortable with a cheap mattress that you could feel the springs through. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone else. Should have gone to a premier inn but we all have to learn though!!!

I stayed for one night as I working in the hospital. The receptionist was nice but the room was very cold and I have asked him to put the heat on but it was working, so I asked for an extra heater. He was co-operative. The breakfast which was part of the room price was appalling. a plastic bag with two pieces of toast without any butter or jam or anything to eat it with. one nutrition bar and that's it. No juice or tea or coffee.
The TV monitor is very small like 20 inches and the remote was dirty.

Room was exactly what I paid for - small single with a window. Functional and looked clean but there was an odour in the room, somewhere between a slight damp and cooking smell but never experienced it before. TV didn’t work but after checking it found PAT sticker on the back and last test as 2015. Reported to receptionist though who came up, tested it and swapped it with another occupied room, not sure what they watched!?!

Room 8. Bedsprings dug in ribs. Pillows lumpy. Bathroom freezing cold. Sink tap so powerful I soaked myself. (On the positive - the shower was good). Water leak stain on ceiling. Furnishings very dated (~1970's imo). Passing traffic noise kept me awake. Only 10 parking spaces, so had to park on street half a mile away. But, hey, if you don't mind all that then £45 to get your head down for the night ain't so bad.

Avoid at all costs.

Before I go into any negatives, I must say, the hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helped me with everything I asked.

The bathroom was revoltingly mouldy and cramped. When sitting on the loo, my right arm touched the wall and my left against the sink.

The bed was two singles pushed together to make for an uncomfortable sleeping position in the centre of the bed.

The local area has nothing in it bar a petrol station.

I suffer with IBS and I usually know when to avoid eating at places, this was one of those instances where my gut told me not to eat breakfast here.

The hotel corridors and staircases are scared with dents, scraps and filthy wall paint. The carpets are worn and well trodden.

The paper thin drywall that has been put in places to make more rooms is exactly that, paper thin. I could hear every word and cough my neighbour had.

And to top the whole thing off, the hotel doesn’t meet with HSE safety regulations since I could have easyily thrown myself out of the 2nd floor window (30+ft up)

I read and was informed that there was a residents bar which was open until 11pm. On arrival I asked about the bar, they said there was no bar and suggested that there was one nearby which I declined. The were selling minerals and wine which was in a glass case on wall in reception. I purchased a bottle of wine for £10. Carpets on staircase looked awful. Walls on staircase badly needed to be painted.

They say they have a restaurant and bar in their hotel statement on Hotels.com, they DON'T have either! They say breakfast included. A British hotel I take that to mean full English. It's NOT! The whole place smelled of stale smoke and the bed was crap with a thin base nylon sheet. I slept on top of the duvet. Never again will I book this place.

The exterior, lobby and hallways of the hotel aren't the best, however, the room was very decent. For the price, it's definitely worth staying here - especially if you have a flight from Luton Airport. We left our car here for half the fee we were being quoted from the airport.

The price is exceptionally cheap but remember, you get what you pay for. It is situated very close to Luton Airport but you will lucky to be able to park your car in the hotel car park. Our room was downstairs, with no fire exit. The carpets were stained and the room very depressing. Not a good start to the holiday!

Staying overnight for an early flight from Luton. Area did not feel good. Car park tiny and no space available, had to park on public car park nearby which I was weary of. Hotel info said there was a bar, however this was a row of bottles behind a very 'uninviting' reception. Room was in attic, banged my head on the ceiling 3 times, was very cold and quilt was very thin. Very poor standard / basic room.

Said breakfast was from 6am, I arrived for breakfast at 6.15am and the door was unlocked. It was duly unlocked for me, but the urn for hot water was not ready, so I had to leave at 6.30am without a morning cup of tea.

Very poor value for money, I would not stay here again!

It's an \"okay\" hotel for workmen and that's about it. I would say about £30.00 a night but to be honest even a Holiday Inn around the same area is over £100 a night! So I would suggest staying outside of Luton Full-Stop! Hemel Hempstead is Miles cheaper and just down the road.

first thoughts when booking was its going to be a dive for the price, but when checking in the place look good, nice clean and freshly painted. the staff was really helpfull and happy to see you.
went in the room and it had everything needed, clean and tidy with a comfy bed.
only downfall is the bathroom sealent around the window could do with redoing as it was a bit black with mould, but im sure it would be done soon and its not really worth moaning about. shower was great it had loads of power to it too.

real happy we stayed there and if im working in that area again it will be the first place id book.

The room we got was room 3 was damp we could see beginnings of mould on walls and the heating was turned off during the night which didn't help.The room was by the very busy road so lot of noise during the night. cannot comment on rest of the hotel but do not stay in room 3.

The parking is poor, only a very small car park attached to the hotel. My bathroom had a lovely shower power, but there was mould growing all over in the bathroom. The room did appear to be otherwise clean. It had 3 single beds so space was tight walking around but there was the usual; TV, tea/coffee facilities. There wasn't a hairdryer in the room, like I was led to believe on the website. The hotel wanted to keep my car key or credit card overnight as 'security'- apparently it's usual. However I wasn't comfortable at all with this- car parked outside whilst I'm sleeping.....I had already paid in full for the room so didn't want to leave card either. He accepted my driving license in the end. However, important security??? No one checked my room before I left.... Unsure as to why this needs to be done at all... Continental breakfast in the morning was good. The hotel is opposite a 24 hour petrol station but it didn't keep me awake. The receptionist helped me in with my bags on arrival and up to the bedroom. Free wifi. Think for the price and quality and dreadful hotel parking it's rather expensive though and I wouldn't return.

Perfectly adequate but could be much better

Stockwood Hotel is an average, no frills hotel. The best way to describe it would be to say it's 'perfectly adequate' although with a little effort the owners could make it so much better.

The room was a good size, and the shower room was small but functional. One major flaw is the total absence of power sockets next to the bed (both sides) making it impossible for me to charge my phone (which is also my alarm clock) next to me overnight.

The bed was not the most comfortable I've slept on, and I woke up a few times during the night.

The tray and kettle on the sideboard could have done with a good wipe to clean them. Removing the bits of limescale from the bottom of the kettle would have been appreciated too. Although it was a small kettle, because the sink was even smaller it wasn't possible to fill it with water by putting it under the tap.

The free wi-fi was a good speed, although there are three networks with different names to choose from, depending on location in hotel and signal strength. It's not technically difficult to give all three networks the same name so phones and laptops automatically connect to the one with the strongest signal.

Breakfast was included, although their were no cooked breakfast options, just 'continental' cheese, cold meet, croissants (cold), bread/toast, fruit, and cereal.
