Awful service!

The service was awful! I was initially put in a smaller room than what I had paid for. When I complained, they told me to contact hotels.com despite the fact that I had shown them the reservation. After I had spent time and money talking to hotels.com, they then agreed to put me in the right type of room. The front desk staff was rude and aggressive. The room was dirty. Cleaning was approximate! The desk too was not cleaned as I noticed that the same fly was there during my stay! Water was only served the first day. After that, I had to literally beg them hours on end to have water which I had to pay for! I had a steady flow of small cockroaches in the bathroom. All in all, the service was awful! This hotel does not deserve a 5 star rating. It should be avoided at all costs!

The hotel is a bit old but still nice and fairly clean. The room is spacious. Easy access to the beach. However, for a 5 star hotel, I expect the front desk staff to be a bit friendlier and professional. A smile in the face and better customer service would be appreciated more.

Pros: clean, rooms are large, nice big pool, good breakfast and dinner buffet

Cons: beds are incredibly uncomfortable, and rooms feel very dingy. Front desk staff not helpful: for example, had to call four times to request extra pillows, they would not send up an iron (wanted to charge for laundry service instead). Also did not put me in room with pool view that I booked and paid for: when I asked to be moved to proper room they said it “wasn’t available” and eventually moved me to the right room several hours later after I told them they needed to refund the price difference then.

Overall, not a very good experience at this hotel and I would not stay here again.

The property is located in a secluded area, too secluded to be frank, I felt unsafe stepping out of the property. Crossing the street to the beach was as far as I ventured and was questioned if I was a hotel guest when I clearly just walked out of there. It was extremely crowded with a lot of loud noises when I arrived Saturday night. The great entrance, the pool, the room balconies look great, but that's about it. I did not get to swim due to my short stay, but a lot of people seemed to be having fun swimming.
The room was something else... it smelled, it had mosquitos, mini fridge and safe were not functional. AC hardly working trying to keep up, it was very hot. The room balcony door would not lock and can be easily opened, the room is basically not safe to leave anything when the door does not lock properly. They take shortcuts on service, like shampoo, soap, no toilet paper (had to work with an almost empty roll) and no tissue, they did not even replace the bathroom floor mat towel the last day. Food seemed ok with good selection but was disgusted to see first-hand the server touch the egg omelet on the plate to check it out with his fingers.... so I stuck to sealed food items to avoid getting any infections on my short stay. Finally, don't ask them to call you a taxi, they will get their own guy who will charge you double the price and not give you a receipt. Overall, first time and last time... I was disappointed with how such a nice property is poorly managed.

I sent my wife to this hotel for a week and her father and mother joined her in the hotel . All was good untill a lady tells my wife 2 bath towels are missing . My wife doesn't even use public towels . This made ne sick off them spend more than 2000$ in this hotel . And they finally one of the employee took the towels without bringing them back

Definitely not a five star hotel, it has not been properly maintained. The facilities are alright, the pool was nice but it was a task trying to get a towel. The massage I had at the spa was quite nice but they changed my appointment time without informing me until I was there. What brought down my experience was the service, it was two star service, at best. No one was helpful, they sent you on wild goose chases, only giving you half information. Room service was tasty but extremely slow. I guess this is a perfect case of you get what you pay for.

Great location and nice pool area. However it is extremely noisy during the day and during the night. The reception staff were not particularly welcoming, and during my turn at the counter the staff member kept talking to other guests and people while I was in the process of checking in. There were many angry guests at the reception. Also, they don't give you an iron on request in the room, and instead have ironing service that takes your clothes, when I called to ask for an iron they told me about the service, and said it would take an hour. That was just ridiculous, I had to leave shortly and was not really going to wait an entire hour to iron a T-shirt. I was also further told I wasn't even allowed to bring in my own iron. It's really a ridiculous issue, but also inconvenient for me

Grand hotel but only in season, everything charge

Going out of season meant no outdoor pool, maintenance workers everywhere. Charged for baby milk - everything had an expense against it.
Grand in its scale and probably much nice in season.
Location wise nothing is in walking distance everything is a taxi.

1. the newly designed rooms with dark brown wood-like ceramics make us feel in a swiss chalet rather than in Tunisia. Carpeting the room is pure non-sense in well-known hot and sunny country.
2. aircon was not working
3. room refrigerator was not working
4. TV set with no international channels: CNN, BBC, CCTV, Bloomberg, etc...
5. wifi access free but with no access control
6. excessive rate for breakfast/dinner when compared to concurrent offers

Large pool and nice lobby. But the door men made us feel unwelcome,didn’t hold the door for me when i was leaving with a baby and luggage (he stood there watching) and we just generally felt as though the property was run down and not five star. Towels missing (then questioned about them), given the third degree when simply entering the hotel on multiple occasions, big hassle to reach room service and the bathroom was old and felt dirty. Reception, housekeeping,lifeguards and breakfast girls were nice. Unfortunately they work at a mediocre hotel that advertises as prestigious (the basis of the issue).

I stay here often and usually I love it but this time I ordered a different room type then usual and oh my god this room was small, there is normally coffee and bottled water and ashtray on the balcony but there was non of that this stay. The staff however are always super nice and the pool is very good as well.

Upon arrival the property is beautiful, until you get to your room. Air conditioning is controlled by front desk, doesn't work. Room is hot and humid as they wont allow room to get cold. When you open your balcony door the AC automatically shuts off. Refrigerator dont wirk ask 5 times for a new one and they keep saying they will fix it but never show up. Buffett food was horrible and not appealing. Fruit and vegetables look old and dried, refrigerated items were warm. This is definitely not a 5 star hotel. The bed was like sleeping on the floor and every morning wake you in terrible pain because the bed was so uncomfortable. The shower is nice but shuts off mid shower and you have to wait for it to turn back on. I do not recommend this hotel.

NOT what I was hoping for

Service was horrible. We ordered room service that never showed. I got up the next morning looking for the \"private beach\" and was told the only water views were at the pool - which was a pretty pool, but not what I was hoping to view. Finally found a coffee - at the bar! And even then, had to wait 30 minutes for a basic coffee with milk. I will not be staying there again.

Amazing food!

Some rooms are nice, some more tired. My room was clean, but in need of some facelift, but that did not affect my stay. Standard double room did not have water in the room and no tea/coffee facility. This is available in superior room.
The hotel is very big, big pool plus additional kids pool and one indoor pool, SPA, gym, etc. The food in the a la carte restaurant is very nice, the food in the main restaurant is ABSOLUTELY TO DIE FOR! Desserts were just pure delight, lime juice, so much fruit, dates, cheese variety.... And it’s the same amazing level for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Service varied from person to person but I think it was mainly due to language barrier. But generally it was good, I would put excellent if people were a bit more friendly, maybe a bit more smiles!
Overall it is we a good stay and if one likes big places, definitely worth trying. Food alone made up for any small issues.

Our stay was very comfortable and nice. We struggled to get in touch with the hotel prior to our arrival however it all went smoothly when we arrived, staff was helpful (we had to seek a medical assistance which was promptly provided by the hotel), rooms are very spacious with air con and the food was delicious. Hotel is very close to the city and it was easy to hire a car and drive to Carthage or Museums around (we parked at the hotel car park for free). Both me and partner enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend this place.

First they were unable to find my reservation and after half an hour of waiting they sent me to a very bad and far room and not the room I booked. After that they sent me a bigger room in a far room with a very bad smell.
The customer service was horrible and the treatment was bad.
I will never book at this hotel again

I paid for a 5 star hotel and received a 3 star service. Hugely disappointed in the service, particularly room service, which was non existent. Each time I called no one would answer, irrespective of the time of the day, under staffed.

I decided to take the breakfast offer when booking the hotel. This included a buffet breakfast. Very disappointed in the breakfast, when food ran out, this was not replaced. Breakfast started at 06:00 and ended at 10:00. Irrespective of the time you arrive, you will get a 3 star breakfast.

There was an occasion no one was located when entering the hall for breakfast. This is a point where room number is obtained. I questioned this with a member of staff and was advised to just continue. It seemed receptionists we’re attempting to juggle a few duties due to being under staffed. I didn’t expect this at a 5 star hotel.

I would not consider staying at this hotel again due to my experience. The positives, hotel was very clean. However, if you decide to book due to circumstances, I would order your food elsewhere.

Also, as a tip, if you take a cab, best to go out of the hotel and cross the road as there will be cabs parked across the road, ensure they switch their metre on before you agree a destination of travel. Just for awareness, metre is referred to as a counter. Requesting the receptionist to order a cab for you will mount to an additional charge by the driver.

Great views, beachside access.

The stay was great. We relaxed and rode camels on the beach. The only feedback I have is that while I was traveling with a female friend, I think the hotel rule (or maybe it's a Tunisian law) that couples must be married in order to share a room may be preventing tourism from the rest of the world.
