This property was a working farm and we stayed 4 nights in a house over 100 years old. We had a large room on the 2nd floor and shared a bathroom with the other guests. We were welcomed by the owner and shown around the house where we could use the living room, kitchen and dining room. It was comfortable and welcoming. The folks working the farm were friendly and it was a delight to see the ducks, cows, goats, chickens and working dogs! A local chef came in the mornings to cook breakfast (duck eggs!) - delicious. It was lovely talking to the Kathy, the owner, and Eric, the chef, about the farm and area. If we hadn't been on a defined schedule of sightseeing it would have been a calm to rest in the yard and listen to the sounds of the farm.

This place is not for everyone. It is someone's personal that is located on a working farm. Ms. Fields is extremely friendly as well as very accommodating, like everyone else, however; she demands respect. Yes, you asked to take your shoes off when entering the house. The house is a restored 1850s farmhouse, the floors are oak. Need I say more? Besides, does it not feel like you are more at home when you take your shoes off? I brought my house slippers along and I was quite comfortable. Yes, she asks that you do not touch certain things within the house, these are the personal things that she likes to show/display. They are intriguing and nice to look at, and if everybody touches them that stays there, they would not remain in good condition. Yes, she should put them away and yes kids will be kids. Bottom line, it is HER house, her business, she can run it as she chooses and there are other places to stay. Parents need to be parents and teach your children how to respect the personal property of others. Ms. Fields likes to greet you when you arrive and learn the nature of your stay. I just wanted to be left alone, enjoy the peace and quiet, enjoy my stamp collection, and conduct the business that I went out there to conduct. She respected and accommodated me. I was not bothered at all. I, fortunately, was the only visitor in the house during my stay. It is a three-bedroom house with one bathroom. If you would rather not share with strangers, rent all three rooms.

A unique place to stay

Flint Hill is a B and B that is a part of a working farm. It may not be for everyone - but I enjoyed it as a great change of pace. There is no wifi, no TV and the bathroom is shared - but you'll wake to roosters crowing, you'll pet horses, see cows being milked an be treated to a farm breakfast with a choice of duck or chicken eggs. If you have a spirit of adventure, you'll find it enjoyable.

The house is located in the midst of a farm. It is an educational setting for children. If you like waking to rooster crowing and ducks quaking, this is the place. We were the only guests so we had the one bathroom to ourselves. That might have been a problem if the other rooms had been occupied. We enjoyed talking with the owner and hearing about the history of the farm.

Kathy is an amiable and very attentive host. She runs a really big farm that has all kinds of animals on it. And there is a store which sells the products that she makes. She went out and milked a cow and we put the fresh cream in my coffee. It was the best coffee that I have ever had!

Wonderful stay at the farm

We spent our anniversary weekend at the farm and it was wonderful. We got to spend lots of time learning about the farm and interacting with the animals. Kathy was a wonderful host and made us a delicious breakfast with products from the farm. She also had great suggestions to activities in the area. Would definitely come back again in the future and maybe partake in the cheese making class.

Was looking for something different, selected the place without doing a lot of research.

The place was beautiful. The breakfast was an experience. My girlfriend who has OCD when it comes places with a lot of \"stuff\" in them was fine with the pictures and collectibles around the place.
It isn't a hotel, it isn't a pretentious B&B. It's a farm, so it isn't for everyone, but it was a great time.
Oh, and the cheese is fantastic.

Because we wanted to have the experience of working with farm animals, she had us work with Jen, Hannah, Scott, and Rebecca. They are all so friendly and kind, even though we slowed them down getting their work done. We loved our stay and will be back as soon as we can.

We had to paid $198.00 NOT to stay a second night

I had to leave negative feedback, but we booked 2 nights, but left after the first night. Breakfast was not what we had read in previous reviews. (Pancakes were made 3 at a time and were burnt - there were 10 people at the table. Bacon was so undercooked, no bread or muffins, etc. as we had heard were good.) There was 3 piles of doggie doo on the living room floor, but we were expected to remove our shoes when entering the house. It could have been a great experience, but the Owner was too busy, she needs help! (We were told we had to pay for the 2nd night because we did not give 48 hours notice - how could we, when we didn't know it would be like this.) We booked the camper, but couldn't use the toilet or shower.

We have owned 4 travel trailers, so we know how to care for them. Sorry, but we don't want someone else to experience what we did. We do, however, feel this would be a good educational facility for a 'daily' visit.

Not all it was cracked up to be.

My daughter loved it with the animals and the farm work. The farm-fresh breakfast was good although. The farm is an old working farm. The owner was downright rude to my family and very curt with the rules. They promote it for kids but yet not really kid friendly- don't touch this doll sitting out, don't touch the piano unless you know how to play. Take off your shoes when you walk in the door even though we have dogs & cats that have just been out in a barn that are coming inside. There were comments made and a reminder about how much toilet paper to use because of the septic system. Really? If I wanted to be talked to by someone like she was my mother would I could have just stayed home. Also was told I could not leave my children out of my sight that are 8 & 9 years old. Umm we are traveling on vacation & in a strange place I don't think I am going to not watch out for my where my kids are. They mentioned hiking trails which was really nothing more than a muddy path through some woods with nothing to look at but the neighbors houses. In then end there was confusion from the booking site regarding how many people were staying 2 adults & 2 children (I guess I only input 2 adults were staying) and she called wanting an additional $50 for my kids to eat the breakfast which she never mentioned to me prior to that. Not real happy with the stay & I think she got all the money she needed from us when it was less than it was made out to be.

Peaceful Farm Life

Since my spouse was in PA on business, I stayed at the Flint Hill Farm as a single. Safe and comfortable. It was a beautiful and serene setting, yet full of the activities of true farm life. There was quiet and alone time when I wanted it - great places to get away and walk around or stay in the house and read. When I was looking for activity, the animals were there. It was a hot time of year, yet I didn't need the air conditioner. The bed was comfortable and the rooms clean. Breakfast was a feast with home-made cheeses, butter, farm-fresh eggs. Delicious. Next time, I'll take my spouse so I can share my experience.

Great stay at Flint Hill

Flint Hill is real farm gem within 1.5 hour from Philadelphia. If you are looking to experience helping with chores, meeting farm animals and just relax at the country side - this place is for you! Outstanding dairy products are made at the farm and ready to enjoy there and take home with you. Kathleen, farm owner, is an excellent host and makes fresh and delicious breakfast. Be prepared to share your restroom with the stranger - but this is part of living at farm house. We are definitely will be back.

Great farm experience for a family vacation!

My mother, sister and I took our girls, ages 12 & 13 here last year. They had such a blast we came again this year. They helped feed the animals, collect eggs, milk goats, and take a horseback riding lesson. In April, the got to hold and feed baby goats and lambs just 2 weeks old! The breakfast was farm fresh eggs, milk and cheeses. Our girls will remember this trip for the rest of their lives.

The only disappointing part of my stay is that I could not stay longer.

Kathy and her well trained and personable staff were delightful.

The home was quite comfortable, with lovely nooks and family warmth all around.

The farm store held many unique farm products that I have enjoyed sharing with my family.

The farm tour was well worth the investment for the education I received.

Undoubtedly, one of God's Blessings!

Old Man, His Grandchildren, & Smiles As Big As The Sky

It was a beautiful fall day at Flint Hill Farm. My wife and I (aka Bobo and Boba) spent the day sharing the magic of this place with our three grandchildren (5, 2 and 6 months). It was about as perfect an experience as one could hope! The two oldest boys were engaged with nature at every turn, and they engaged with a freedom and thrill that surprised even me. Smiles everywhere as big as the sky, even for me. .

This is a different kind of hotel stay, but great if you're into BnB-type experiences and looking for something different from the usual hotel travel. It's a working farm, with a warm and welcoming hostess and lots of animals to enjoy. I find it extremely relaxing to walk around the farm, eat the delicious breakfast and decompress from the rat race.

Great B&B and farm experience

We had such a nice time at Flint Hill. Kathy works very hard to keep the farm running and keep the B&B clean and organized. Her farm breakfasts are delicious, with so many options (pancakes, yogurt, bread, eggs, milk, coffee, tea, cheese, etc). We enjoyed learning about the farm and working the farm. Very enjoyable getaway

The 5 of us truly loved our stay at Flint Hill Farm. It was all of what was advertised and more.

My 2 12year old granddaughters were in heaven with all the animals. They were busy collecting eggs, brushing horses, milking goats and feeding all the animals.

I and my 2 daughters learned to make mozzarella cheese from Cathy. She was also very helpful informing us what activities were available nearby. In the evenings we went out to eat and attended the Music Fest in nearby Bethlehem.

Would love to go back next year.

Authentic Farm Experience

This is an authentic farm experience and my children loved being able to milk the goats, gather and clean eggs, feed the animals, ride a pony and just relax on the farm. 5 stars.

The bathroom is shared between three available bedrooms in the main house and it was very clean. The kitchen and dining room were also very clean. However, the bedrooms were small, dusty and there is no room in any of the drawers or closets. Also, as we were there during one of the hottest weeks of August, we missed having air conditioning in one of the two bedrooms.(It does cool down somewhat at night.)

The farm breakfasts included fresh homemade yogurt as well as milk, honey and eggs gathered from the farm. YUM. We did order a picnic basket for a hot dog roast which included potato chips, hummus, grocery store bought salad, soda, marshmellows (no cholcolate or gram crackers so you'll need to ask) for $50. We thought that was a bit much for what you get. I might suggest that you get your own picnic basket for lunches/dinners. We also recommend that you purchase some of the yummy yogurts to take home!

Memorable family vacation

My family just spent five nights at Flint Hill Farm. My daughter who is 8 years old, lived for morning and afternoon chores that included milking the goats, gathering the eggs and feeding the chickens and walking the cows, horses and ponies in and out from outside. She of course fell in the love with the kitten and is very happy to have brought Frisky home to MA. The farm breakfasts made by Kathy in the morning were outstanding and kept you going all day! This included freshly made breads or muffins, farm fresh milk, yogurts and smoothies, and fresh eggs and bacon. Her pancakes were the best I've ever had. There were interesting sights to see during the day off the farm. Bethlehem and it's steel stacks, Hellertown was amazing with the Lost River Caverns and of course, Dolce Patisserie made famous by the owner, Alan Pitotti, who won the Sweet Genius contest on the Food Network.

Flint Hill Farm have wonderful workers and volunteers who welcome help and are informative and friendly. Special thanks to Tina and Sam and of course, Eva the 'free spirit' goat wondering around like a dog.

Thank you Kathy for a special time we will not forget.

Flint Hill Farm Stay was unforgettable experience

My wife, our 3 young children and my parents had the pleasure of staying here. We arrived Friday night. We were warmly greeted by a farm hand and two lovely dogs! We were directed to the house where we met Kathy, our hostess and owner. She welcomed us, gave us the tour of the us and showed us our rooms. After nearby dinner in town, Kathy had a chimnea setup to build fire. The kids made s'mores with mom mom and pop pop and we chased fire flies and watched the bats overhead. Awesome! After a solid night of sleep, we woke at 6 am to get out to barn to see Sam milking to goats. My kids, even my 20 month old son was able to participate by putting feed in their troughs while they were being milked. It was awesome! After that, we met Tina and she spent over 3 hours with us. She was knowledgeable and hysterical. My kids were carrying feed buckets and walking the ponies and donkey. My kids are 6, 3 and 20 months and each of them was gathering eggs in their own buckets. We returned to the house to find a wonderful breakfast with omelettes, pancakes, delicious breads and of course, countless dairy products fresh from the farm. We had cream for our coffee, a bowl of butter(for everything), a cheese plate, milk, yogurt(with fresh fruit), cream cheese and a chevre with sage - out of this world! There was juice, real maple syrup, caramelized onions - just a wonderful meal, all served at a long table in a beautifully appointed dining room. Great weekend on the farm!

This hands-on farm experience was wonderful for our two granchildren. It gave them the opportunity to learn about milking cows and goats, how butter is made, and gathering and washing eggs. Kathy hosted a wonderful weekend by providing a comfortable stay in a charming farm house, and preparing delicious country breakfasts filled with such homemade yogurt, cheeses,pancakes, and bread. A memorable experience

Staying the Kathleen was an amazing experience! She was very warm and accommodating and such a lovely lady to have conversations with! Her home, which she readily shares with visitors, is extremely cozy, oozing with country charm! Her pets provided us with so much comfort, I wished we could stay for much longer. Wonderful Place!

Flint Hill Farm is an amazing place. So many things going on! The farmhouse is so interesting with it's long history of being a working farmhouse. Far from being a creaky old house though, it's been renovated with the upmost care so that it's comfortable and clean while keeping its old-time charm. Kathy is a great host. Very cheerful and helpful. The private bedrooms are spacious and beautifully furnished, and the living and dining areas are great spaces to visit with the other guests staying in the house. The fresh eggs, yogurt, and milk fresh from the farm add to the whole experience.

A really memorable experience!

I would highly recommend a stay at Flint Hill Farm. It is truly a working farm first and foremost, but also serves as an excellent B&B. My family (2 adults, 1 pre-teen, 1 teenager) spent 2 nights and occupied 2 rooms. Rooms in the original farmhouse are smaller than modern accommodations, so be prepared for that; but they are clean, comfortable and homely. You dont feel like spending much time in the rooms anyway, because there is so much to see and do on the farm helping milk the cows and goats (what else could get my kids up and out by 6.30am?), feeding all the animals, collecting eggs, moving the chicken coops, turning the animals out of their stalls etc. The farm staff are friendly and helpful and once you have finished chores (if you chose to do them), you are free to roam about the farm and visit the animals you come to know by name. Its a fun and educational experience and one that the whole family will remember much more than a vacation at the beach or pool.

What an incredible experience

Our farm stay was out of this world! Our four year old loved immersing herself and enjoyed feeding, grooming and helping as much as she could with the animals. Kathy was a terrific host and we learned so much.

The only downside was reading online that there would be a hearty breakfast which there was not. The homemade yogurts, cheeses and breads were delicious, yet not what we expected as all that would be available for breakfast. Perhaps we misread.

Wonderful farm stay!

We had a wonderful weekend stay at Flint Hill Farm in March. Just simply loved the fact that we could roam about the farm and participate in farm activities such as collecting eggs (which we ate for breakfast, yummy), making cheese and watching the births of baby goats. Great educational value for kids and a fun time all around. Especially playing with the baby goats (for hours!) was a highlight for our little one! Rooms were perfectly clean, of course on the farm you have to expect to get dirty, that's half the fun! Breakfast was plentiful and tasty, with most of the food homemade on the farm (breads, yogurt, cheese, eggs, milk...). Overall, the stay exceeded our expectations, left us refreshed and with a lot of memories.

With an eye to getting a few animals for our small starter farm, I booked the Farm Stay to get a first hand experience of what work would be entailed. The effort that goes into caring for their well-tended and friendly animals gave me more knowledge than any book or seminar could have.

First off, the room was lovely, warm, and so comfortable that it took me mere moments to fall asleep after my busy day. Breakfast was homey around the large farm table with good company and so rewarding, knowing that we had gathered the eggs and watched the milking.

EVERYONE was involved in our stay. Rebecca took us to feed the horses, cows, ducks, pig and calves, sharing practical information on their care, feeding, temperment, and clearly loving all of them. Later she showed us the cheese making process. Bens' knowledge of chickens and devotion to his charges was everything we needed to give us an idea of how to start up our own flock. Rebecca Too spent hours on everything we would need to know for a goat operation and gave us much to think about as opposed to getting a cow for milk and cheese.

Kathy was up before the sun to tend to her chickens, gather eggs, pour milk for breakfast and have coffee ready for her guests. The conversation was friendly and informative and I came away with a real respect for milking cows - they are much bigger in person than I thought.

There were more people than I can name that took the time to take us around and patiently share their expertise and experiences in tending and caring for farm animals than I can name, but they made our weekend just incredible.

If you want a REAL education on what it takes to put food on the table with the warmest and friendliest group of people I've ever met, this is it.

Nice farm experience and cheese making class

I surprised my boyfriend with an overnight stay and cheese making class at Flint Hill for his birthday. The owner was very nice and accommodating and we had a wonderful farm experience along with the cheese making class. The accomodations were very nice, clean, and the fireplaces inside the home are a nice touch.

My wonderful stay at Flint Hill Farm AG

My stay was most memorable on this beautiful farm! The house is lovely-built in 1850-and has lots of charm. Kathleen helped me to feel very welcome as her guest, as did everyone I met on the farm. Her animals are extremely well-cared for and I learned alot I look forward to my next visit to this comfortable and beautiful spot.

Stay away

We pulled the mattress off the bed and slept on the floor. The house was smelly and I witness the cats walking on the kitchen table. We payed for the cheese class and others who didn't partcipated. The class was in a tiny room with some standing outside. The cheese class was a total joke. Waste of money and time. You pay to do her chores. Stay away.

A wonderful Escape and Learning Experience

Just got back from a weekend at Flint Hill. We had a wonderful time tending to the animals, milking cows and goats, collecting and washing chicken eggs, and making mozzarella and cheddar cheese! The farm house was warm and cozy, and Kathy was a wonderful host. We awakened to a great breakfast every morning, and then went outside and shared in the farming chores. We learned so much from Kathy, Bruce, Rebecca, Mike, and Theresa who were all farming experts and could answer all of our questions. It was a life-changing experience and we left feeling quite connected to the people and animals at Flint Hill.

Emphasis on the FARM

Scrumptious breakfast!

From the friendly workers, to the scrumptious breakfast, Flint HIll farm was a definite positive experience. The innkeeper works hard to keep you happy, especially food wise. Our breakfast included bacon and eggs, 2 kinds of home made bread, raw milk, 2 butters, probiotic yogurt, chevre cheese, home made jam and fresh berries. All the milk products are produced at the farm. The raw milk was the best I ever tasted. I was craving it the next day!! My teenage son loved the place. It was great to have our questions answered by the innkeeper and the workers. The house was immaculate. We definitely want to go back...

Best family getaway ever

We were immediately welcomed to be an active part if the animal farming operation: milking cows and goats, feeding animals, gathering eggs. Plenty of time to relax and participate as we wanted. Staff is really available to educate, answering questions and doing extra things to make the stay fun and educational. I recommend bringing a packed lunch/dinner unless you want to drive out to a nearby town to eat out. Be prepared to get dirty and be outside. Our 4 AnD 1 1/2 year led loved it.

If you want a clean room to sleep in and updated bathroom...this is the place for you. If you want a bug free, web free barn, and beautiful green pastures...this is not the place for you. For heaven's sake this is a REAL farm. We had a blast. My grandson worked 12 hour days doing his chores. Feeding all the animals, milking the goats, hey, he wouldn't even stop to eat dinner, at 7 PM, because he wasn't done milking. Not only did he learn the magic and importance of a farm, he now wants to be a farmer. AND when we got home he asked his suburban parents for chores. It's been two weeks since our two night farm stay and he is still talking about. Did I mention that he is only 4? Well done Nana! Thank you Farmer Kathy and farmhand Bridget for an extraordinary experience.

Very Pleasant Overnight

The farm is very accessible for even short visits. I was welcomed and guided about by the owner and by well versed volunteers. The comfortable house and pleasant porches made my visit especially nice. I hope to return.

Great educational stay for the whole family at a real working farm

We enjoyed interacting with the various animals, i.e. chickens, ducks, horses, cows, goats and even the house dogs and cats and learning how the farm was run.
