Because of travel delays we did not arrive at the hotel until 4 am. Upon arrival we were told that our reservation had been cancelled even though we had a credit card in the reservation. The hotel staff told us that third party reservations are cancelled/labeled as \"no shows\" when the system changes days. We were never notified of this by either Hotels.com or the hotel. Fortunately the person at the front desk put in the effort to reinstate our reservation and get our room back for which we were very appreciative.

The hotel is nice. The rooms are a good size and comfortable.

We enjoyed our very brief stay there.

We have stayed here twice now. And most likely will the next time we go back to st Louis. It’s clean and the staff is friendly. There is a parking garage and you have to get your ticket validated each time you come and go. Super clean and love the place

After all it is a classic hotel that has not been updated in a long time. The pool has not been fix and you don't know about it until you get there. There are a few things that are helping the hotel. One, the location is great. It's located in great neighborhood. Two, the full sit down dinning experience for breakfast witch everyone seeing to like. Lastly the shower in the room is by far one of my best shower experiences at a hotel. The staff attitude needs to improve, everyone seeing miserable or not really like their job. This is a common thing around St Louis so maybe that's just their culture there.

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The breakfast buffet was above and beyond our expectations with made to order waffles and omelettes, fresh fruit, and a wide variety of options. The room was spacious and clean. There were some great dinner options nearby. The game room and pool were under renovation, but we look forward to seeing them on our next visit!

What we most liked about the hotel was the free, convenient parking and the perfect location near those we were visiting. The area is lovely and walkable.

Our room was adequately sized. The bathroom shower seemed recently upgraded with digital controls. There were coffee packets in the room, but no condiments though there was coffee in the lobby. Several areas such as the pool were closed for renovation.

I would recommend this property to others and will use it again for future trips to Clayton, University City or St. Louis.

The rooms were well maintained. Beds were clean and comfortable. It was a bit of a maze trying to find my room. The highlight of my stay was the complementary hearty breakfast. There was a buffet with scrambled eggs, sausage links, hash browns, pancakes, biscuits and gravy. There was a cook making custom ordered omelets and waffles. Weekend overnight parking in a parking garage was free. The pool unfortunately was closed for renovations. However, I would not hesitate staying here in the future.

We stayed in the jacuzzi suite. The tub was a little shabby but worked well. Some of the lights didn't work in the room. Great that parking was free through most of our trip.
It was a great price for what we got.
The room could use a little updating but compared to the other hotels in the area it was great for the money.
The pool and hot tub were closed for renovations and I wasn't notified until the day before our trip.
Overall good experience, great area. We'd stay there again.

The room itself was clean and comfortable, but the overall guest experience was disappointing.

When I arrived, there was no soap in the shower. During my stay, trash was not picked up and towels were not exchanged. In fact, whenever I needed fresh towels or additional toilet paper, I had to go to the front desk and get them myself.

Several amenities that influenced my decision to stay here were unavailable. The arcade and swimming pool were both closed, which was especially disappointing since I was traveling with my children.

Another major inconvenience was the parking validation process. Every time I left the parking garage during the week, I had to return to the front desk to have my parking validated again. The only exception was on Saturday and Sunday. This became frustrating and time-consuming throughout the stay.

I also requested a late checkout and was told that was not available.

The staff members I interacted with were polite, but between the missing room supplies, lack of housekeeping service, closed amenities, inability to obtain a late checkout, and the repeated parking validation requirement, the overall experience fell short of expectations and did not provide the level of convenience I expected for the price.

I was pleasantly surprised by how lovely the Clayton Plaza hotel is. The room had all the amenities of a fancy hotel. The breakfast was absolutely delicious with many options and full omelette and waffle bar and restaurant table seating available. The staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this hotel, great location and very reasonable pricing!

The staff was friendly and room was clean. The only issue with the room was the air conditioner was extremely loud. To the point where it woke me up every time it kicked on throughout the night. Other than that the bed was so comfortable and room was nice and clean. Some good restaurants within walking distance. Was disappointed that the pool was closed. Overall was happy with our stay.

Something is being done extremely well at The Clayton Hotel. The staff are always the best and if you frequent this hotel you'll find out that most of them have worked here for decades and longer. They love their jobs and so I love to stay here !
Breakfast is my favorite because I'm greeted like Family by the chef who creates masterpieces out of Omelets and he does it with a smile very quickly even on holidays this man is ready to serve you. Maintenance crew is incredible and keep this places lights on 24/7. My hellos are met with \"how are you doin ?\"
And \"nice to see you again\" !
Yea I'm staying here when I hit St Louis and I'm making this my favorite on the app.
You're in for a treat folks !

It was last minute stay for me and the family. The staff lady was extremely helpful and great. But the room bathroom was nasty and had hairs all over the bathroom shower and in the bathroom sink. The shower head wouldn’t switch over and I couldn’t get the water temp to my desired liking after having to clean it. The remote to the tv didn’t work but only cut the tv on. We were so tired and just over traveling down the road, we didn’t even want to switch rooms. Wasn’t able to bring our breakfast to the room for our convenience. But the staff was lovely and the area was nice as well. Just need to be updated on their appliances for better use and cleaned properly.

This hotel was aged and mediocre. The room had stuff all over the ceiling and the jacuzzi in the room had a film in it. Once we turned it on, one side barely worked. The breakfast that was served was less than desirable with it being cold and flavorless. The pool was under renovations which was disappointing. Overall, our stay was comfortable but not worth the price we paid nor was it anywhere near what the hotel was advertised to be.

Everything about our stay was good except for the air conditioning units. Our first night was great, but during the second night, the air conditioning unit in our room started blowing out hot air. It was 78 degrees when we moved rooms. The second room we were moved to started out at 73 degrees and by the time we checked out it was 77 degrees. The staff that took care of us were extremely helpful and prompt to change our room since the issue began just after midnight. The breakfast and staff associated with it were excellent. I would stay here again.

We didn't know ahead of time the pool and game room would be closed. The room was small. The floor sticky, like the cleanser hadn't been rinsed, the faucet was broken in the bathroom, and there was a strong odor of dirty mop water... very disappointing!

The property was great! It was clean, organized and kept up very well! The amenities was the problem for me. Upon booking our room, the message regarding the pool stated that they will be open in May. The day before our scheduled check-in I received a message from the hotel stating that the pools will be closed through August. Very disappointed being that this was one of the reasons we booked it. Then the jacuzzi had a glob of hair that was stuck to the filter drain (not my hair) and strands off hair on the toilet seat and the tub in the bathroom. The jest in the jacuzzi were so low to the bottom of it that it did not perform like a jacuzzi usually does. No bubbles or bubbling of the water. The dining area seemed to be closed, except for breakfast. I can’t say for sure if they ever opened any other time, but every time we went to the restaurant it was closed!

Pros: it was clean, check-in was a breeze, it was convenient, the showers were great, the parking was free and very convenient to the hotel, the provided breakfast was excellent,and the staff was very, very nice.

Cons: the pillows were awful, no one took the trash from our pizza.

On the whole, yes, we would stay there again, however I might bring my own pillow and I would find out how to dispose of pizza boxes.

I had reservations for a queen size bed. When I got to the hotel they upgraded me to a king size bed. The bed was terrible. It was old. It was sinking in the middle. It was just downright terrible. There was no sense of complaining about the bed because I don’t think they would’ve gave me another room. It’s just horrible.

My wife and daughter loved it. Po was closed for construction . Didn’t really need it. Also, the parking garage had issues. Didn’t really get in the way of my visit. The parking situation was still very good. A very good location, nice restaurants all within walking distance if needed.

Clayton Plaza has always been my place to stay the last four years my son was in college at WashU. It is close to the campus. You can walk to a few restaurants nearby. The staff are always nice and rooms are perfect for a short stay. I would definitely recommend

An event was occurring in the ballroom right above our room. It was after 9 pm and the room was bouncing and creaking with the dancing and hopping up and down, enough to feel like motion sickness. We requested to be moved and the staff person said they were fully booked, and was rude about the situation. I checked the website and discovered the staff lied and several rooms were available that night. We were moved to another room where the toilet was broken and the shower head didn’t work.

The staff needs more hospitality training. There was only one ice maker on floor 2. I would have love to have had an ice maker working on my floor. The breakfast was 20 of 5, Excellent. The room was clean and the air conditioner was working great. When I return to Clayton, I would stay there again.

The hotel is beautiful and a safe place to stay but in my 3 week stay, my room was cleaned twice (even after requesting more). I asked to have the parking fee removed for the 1 1/2 weeks that I was there since the parking garage gates were open the whole time and everyone in the city could park for free, but I was told \"no\". No other explanation than it was required of the people staying there and no manager was available to speak with. There was no empathy at all by any of the people at the front desk.

Roomand staff were excellent, breakfast was super.
However, Saturday night, after an exhasusting day with family, resting or sleeping in room 4084 was impossible until after 10:30 pm. The room was continually vibrating with every drumbeat from the 7th floor ballroom from 7:30pm to 10:30pm. If we had known of this possibility in advance we would have requested a room much farther away from all that fun.

The entire 3rd floor reeked of smoke and mold. A smoke detector in the hall chipped for hours after the front desk staff was notified. I finally requested to be moved to another floor. I never intend to stay in this run down dump again.
